I used to always watch the commentaries on every episode of Game of Thrones ( before it all went horribly wrong at the end) in which they would discuss things such as locations, lighting and costume design and that made me appreciate how much work goes into it.

Thanks dotpocka, isn't it amazing the amount of research and work that goes into making a movie look authentic.

In the last few years I have become fascinated by costume design on movies. I saw on our news this morning that a Canadian woman has been nominated for an Academy Award for best costume design for the movie Nosferatu. I haven't watched the movie, but it's based on Transylvanian vampires (not my usual cup of tea).

I had a look on her instagram page LindaMuirCostumeDesign and am utterly smitten with her talent and vision bringing an 18th century story to life. All of the details and hand embroidery on gown; such talent involved!

I see that Wicked is also nominated in that category, and will most likely win because the film is so popular. I haven't watched that one either.

If anyone watched Shogun on Disney, there is a video add on all about costume design which is really interesting.
