Auntyflo
No need to apologise. It gave me a good laugh.

Regarding Waitrose, I get followed by their security lot sometimes!
I think it might be because I dress as though I'm going to plough a field or
possibly protest at the price of their cheese or some such.🧐

No 😱 Not in Waitrose.
Me and my daughter call it The Stepford wives shop.

My walking stick was stolen at an outpatient appointment. I left it in DH's safekeeping, while I saw the doctor. I came out of the appointment and DH forgot to pick it up. We went back a few minutes later and it was gone, but had not been handed in.
The RA OT had given it to me, it had an ergonomic handle, because my hands were so painful.🤬

I did try Customer Services. No bag handed in.
Ah well, we live and learn
Apologies Petra, but that's what I thought, at the time.

i had thought Waitrose customers were better than that
Hilarious 😂 Only on GN would you read that.

We had our huge golf umbrella stolen from the church porch. That still irks.

And, DS1 had period where he had to use a wheelchair (which he used with only 1 foot rest) which he left by the door of the botox dept while he had his injections. We walked around the hospital grounds a bit and saw someone in it loudly complaining that it was no bl**dy good as it was missing a footrest.

On a slightly different note, the wheelchairs at our local hospital (£1 coin in slot to use), are becoming in very short supply, there are rarely any to be had. On enquiring, my daughter was told that they are being stolen on a regular basis! How people don`t get spotted with them I don`t know, they are large and cumbersome, in bright colours.

Our Waitrose trollies are free; did you have to pay £1 to use one in your store, beacause some people will do anything to avoid paying, or use the trolley to get a £1 back.

Ring the store, you may e pleasantly surprised.

pascal30 Fri 24-Jan-25 14:33:06

Perhaps one of the staff members took it back..If you value the bag I would suggest you ring the store.

I too think it may have been ‘tidied up’ by the staff, although as it had been left outside the toilet door, it should have been obvious where the owner was!

At least there was nothing of value in the bag.

People will nick anything. I watched a man accidentally drop his hanky the other day. Another man came along, scooped it off the floor and put it in his own pocket. They used to transport people to Australia at one time for nicking hankies. Bring back the Victorians, I say! (JOKE, people, JOKE...)

Ilovedogs22 Fri 24-Jan-25 14:26:57

Well, what can I say?
There are surprisingly quite a few light-fingered types out & about in Surposidly classy posh places!
My lovely leopard -print umbrella was nicked in broad daylight at Bonant Gardens while I was sorting out my little boys hand-washing stuff.
I can still see the thieving madam, her bleached blonde hair, clown make-up, skinny jeans & about 80 yrs old. An elephant doesn't forget lady!!! Hhmmmm 🥴

Calendargirl Fri 24-Jan-25 14:23:35

P.S.

If it were me, I would ring the store and check.

Calendargirl Fri 24-Jan-25 14:22:37

You don’t think someone took the bag to Customer Services, thinking it had been left behind?

Your trolley would just have been another empty trolley then.

🤷‍♀️

Oh Auntieflo* how dismaying.
Someone stole my partners crutch (it was “decorated” with many silly stickers, curtesy of grandchildren after knee replacement) we were in the outpatients waiting room for post op clinic. He went to the desk without it and it just “vanished” they all hunted high and low but …so odd though.

Auntieflo Fri 24-Jan-25 13:36:32

As I am housebound, at the moment, DH has been doing the shopping, and doing , not a bad job.
Yesterday he visited Waitrose and left his trolley, in a designated trolley park, inside the store, near the loo, containing one empty blue shopping bag, whilst he went to the loo.
When he came back out, his trolley, and our bag had gone!
If I had been able to be with him, I would have trawled the store looking for my bag.
I had thought Waitrose customers were better than this. Shame.
Let's hope they don't need help in the future.
