Funnily enough, I was like a completely different person at 60 than I am at nearly 70.

It's not " all in the mind". It is the last third/ quarter of life.

I wish there was a like button. Come on Gransnet, shake a leg.

I am 81, and I will be old when I am totally ga-ga, probably not far away.

Grandma70s Tue 28-Jan-25 18:25:20

I am very nearly 85, and that is definitely old, but I don’t see being old as a negative thing.

I think probably 75 plus is old.

My GP has just told me that I need to stay on Ramipril in spite of not having high BP because I have heart disease and my heart will be stronger in 20 years for taking it - I laughed at him! I am 76 now.

When you’re offered help from the lovely checkout girl at M&S today!.

I bought some food from the food hall and my basket was very heavy when I got to the checkout. I did look for a trolley but couldn’t see one so had to have a basket. After I’d paid for my food the girl at the checkout very kindly offered to find me a trolley.
I was very grateful as it was a bit of a walk to the car and I had some other shopping as well as the bag of food to carry.

We’re having nice sausages for supper as a treat as we very rarely have them.

I wish I was 67 again.

I read what was official terminology some weeks ago in the newspaper; fifty is middle aged, sixty elderly and seventy old. Of course as other posters have said, it is a state of mind.

I am 67 and my OH nine years older.
We both go for long walks despite various health problems, and three of our grown daughters had babies in their mid to late thirties so we have to stay on our toes with three grandchildren under 3 years old.
😜

I’m 77 and do not consider myself ‘old’. I weigh the same (8 stone) as I did at 20, 30: 40, 50, 60 & 70 (apart from when I was pregnant.). I dress comfortably, but am quite stylish. Ok, I do have the odd memory lapses, but then I did when I was much younger. Also, I have a few wrinkles, but don’t worry about them. My 2 children and 4 granddaughters help to keep me up to date with technology, as do the young people I volunteer with. Walking and gardening keep me fit. No, there’s life in the old dog yet! 😊

I have been 45 for years and years which is strange as my eldest daughter is 47.

I take a purely factual and logical view of it.

Me too M0nica

I don't understand people who say they are not old when they are 70+, 80+ or whatever. It's a fact of life whether we like it or not. I don't see being old or older as a negative or an insult, it's just a fact.

It's a different thing saying 'I don't feel old'.

Allira Tue 28-Jan-25 18:12:56

When I was 18 I was asked on a date by an attractive man, fine until I found out he was 30 shock
30 was old!

Septimia Tue 28-Jan-25 18:06:44

It's a state of mind, not a physical thing. I'm still 21 in my mind and just wish that the rest of me was in agreement!

HeavenLeigh Tue 28-Jan-25 18:06:30

I think you are right Monica how you see things.

HeavenLeigh Tue 28-Jan-25 18:05:01

I also think attitude to life can make a difference I’m very positive person who also has few chronic illnesses look forward to waking up each day and have quite a few friends and most of us don’t really take ourselves seriously

M0nica Tue 28-Jan-25 18:04:44

I take a purely factual and logical view of it.

If we take a lifespan of 90, quite common these daays
0-30 is young
31-60 is middle age
61+ is old.

However that is simply chronlogical. What kind of person you are at any age is entirely up to you. Some people are settled into a regular ordinary life with all ambitions met at 35. Others are still trying to conquer new horizons at 95.

HeavenLeigh How you and your friend feel at 67 has absolutely nothing to do with your age and says everything about the kind of mind you each have.

Rula Tue 28-Jan-25 18:03:50

I think 60 probably is old in the greater scheme of things. We've had 2/3s of normal life span. Slightly longer actually. So it's old, but it's not 98 year old.

theworriedwell Tue 28-Jan-25 18:02:28

midgey

Old is someone older than me!

Yes that's my view. Currently Id say about 75 but in a couple of years I'll probably think 80.

poppysmum Tue 28-Jan-25 18:01:08

I am 60 and my oh is nearly 65 but we were only saying the other day we dont feel old years ago we thought over 50 was ancient but not now i must admit i dont feel much different than when i was 40

HeavenLeigh Tue 28-Jan-25 17:59:51

Good answer midgey

midgey Tue 28-Jan-25 17:58:27

HeavenLeigh Tue 28-Jan-25 17:57:28

I always have to laugh as my friend and I are exactly the same age. And she’s always going on about how she’s an old codger
We are both 67! She not joking! I’m always saying speak for yourself at 67 in my mind I’m still a spring chicken. We might be pensioners but in my mind far from old ( blooming cheek)
