I think most, if not all, of the people our age are the same. I know I am (79).
Don’t let it worry you.
I keep one of those ‘week to two pages’ A4 diaries on the kitchen worktop. All appts, birthdays, medicine collections etc go in there. It works for me.

I was visiting a client who needs support with his daily living, I’d made him a mug of tea which had gone cold, I said to him “do you want me to heat it up in the tumble drier!!!!” Luckily I realised what I’d said straight away, and he replied “No I’d rather you heat it up in the microwave”🤣🤣it made him have a good laugh.
I think I was just thinking of too many things at once.

My best friend had early onset dementia in her 50s - believe me it’s so much more than age related forgetfulness. There were lots of other indicators. I am comforted that I have made it to 69 with just the odd lapse in the areas everyone else has already mentioned here. My hubby and I are both the same ……… we spend many a happy hour searching for list glasses, keys or trying to recall a persons name. We laugh about it most of the time but I do understand the concerns. This discussion is so helpful! We are all in it together! X 😊

We have permanent name badges at our Memory Cafe and carers group, I bought a badge machine, it is cheap and easy to make them.

Tiley, I'm really shocked by your story. Thank you for the words of caution.
A dear friend suffers from short-term memory loss. It causes her a lot of anxiety. For instance, she will ask me several times during a visit, "Where's my phone?". She is still driving (!) but forgot to come to lunch with me a few weeks ago, although we had spoken the evening before.
But she remembers our schooldays clearly and was playing her violin in the local amateur orchestra until a few months ago. I dread losing her to dementia, but I think it is happening.

My daughter is furious with me, A family member has recently had a baby, buying a gift this weekend I thought of a really good gift which I bought,
Showed my daughter yesterday and she said “I told you Friday I had bought her this”. I was horrified completely forgot,
I can exchange gift but quite upset I had forgot!,

Are you on statins? I had the same problem quite a while ago. When i finally admitted to my doctor tuat I was having problems he changed my statins and all was well.

It happened again a few later we tried the swap to another brand, problem solved again. I'm having issues again so it's off to see the doc again.

This whole thing has happened over the last 25 years so it's not really an issue

What a reassuring thread this is. I thought I was unusual in having little lapses of memory - at 84 - and generally make the excuse that I was always absent-minded and if my mother was still with us (unsurprisingly, she isn't) she would confirm this.

I had the same problem. A friend recommended Lion's Mane, and my short term memory has improved very much. I take two 1 ml droppers each morning. Doesn't taste good, but well worth the temporary bad taste.

Today I got up for work, DH popped his head in the bathroom just as I was about to get in the shower and told me it was Tuesday today.
I go to work Wednesday!

The evening before, I had also prepared my work clothes and lunch.

Out with the family for my 70th Birthday Lunch at the weekend, I said to my DIL (while discussing Films on Netflix) "Oh we watched a good one last night". She replied "What's it called?" - me after a pregnant pause, "I forget!!!" How embarrassing!

I did eventually remember after identifying Liam Neilsen was the main man, but right now? It's something to do with Saints and Sinners!

I have been forgetful my whole life, as my mother used to threaten to send me to "memory lessons" as a child, but my long term memory is great, compared to my DH's.

As someone already said, we're all in the same boat as we age.

Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia are two different things.

Dementia is the umbrella term.

Alzheimer's Disease is one form. There are over 400 different types.
