I meant to say welcome to Laurely and so sorry for your recent loss flowers
And glammagran I'm so sorry for your DD's diagnosis at such a very young age - awful for her. Sending you a hug x

NannyJan53 Wed 05-Feb-25 08:33:29

Good morning from a bright Black Country, where there is ice on the cars.

Popped to Merry Hill yesterday, and bought a pair of shorts for the summer as mine are a bit past it now.

Today I am going on the bus to Wolverhampton to meet DS in his lunch break. He has a card and present for MrJ whose birthday is Friday.

Enjoy your last day Brook, we know Pedregalejo well, lots of lovely places to eat there.

Wishing your DD well glammagran

EkwaNimitee, I am 77

Feelingmyage55 Wed 05-Feb-25 08:23:58

Good morning from an icy north of Scotland where we have had a beautiful sunrise.
I am making a door curtain today from an extravagant, heavy velvet that I bought more than ten years ago! DH will have to be persuaded to help me put up the rail so I will be making him an extra nice dinner - one which will keep until tomorrow😉.

Taichinan Wed 05-Feb-25 08:23:08

Good morning Mick and all. It's a beautiful morning on the Angus coast - sunrise just like yours Ash. Glorious. What busy people you all are! I'd be ashamed of my quiet life - except that I do enjoy it 😉
Yesterday's tai chi class was particularly enjoyable but I was really tired for the rest of the day. I wish I could sort my sleep out! Last night I was asleep by 10.45, but then I was wide awake again by 4.30. I gave up trying to get back to sleep and got up, only to fall sound asleep in my chair for a whole hour 🤷.
Anyway I feel better for that and am about to toddle off to make a satisfying pot of soup.
Enjoy your day with those lovely little boys Bella - you have such a lovely relationship with them.
I hope the various medical appointments - and the treks involved - go well today for everyone x

Mixed news for your daughter glammagran 🌹

Jaxjacky Wed 05-Feb-25 08:20:53

Morning from a brightening S Hants, frost earlier.
Yesterday I went for my two yearly eye check, just the start of a cataract in one eye which may not need action for many years. New glasses ordered, should be ready in a couple of weeks.
Community library today, I’m joining their book club, after that I’ll walk home the longer way having a good nose in peoples gardens for signs of spring.
I hope today is positive corner

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry. The windows are steamed up and pretty grubby from the storm. Ash lovely photo. Cornergran I feel for you. You are very stoic. Kalu and baubles enjoy your catch up 😊.
Yesterday I pottered about after depositing the boys at school/nursery. I phoned an aerial fitter who arrived to have a look and said he'll fix it today. Fingers crossed. I had an Amazon delivery which included a book on snakes for dgs1's forthcoming birthday. I wasn't impressed with it and will probably look for a better one in a book shop. That's what I get!My brother sent me a message to say mum has been moved to a single room but he hadn't asked why. He's a very difficult person. I'll give the hospital a ring later.
Today I will have a lazy morning then do a couple of hours in the school library. Today I begin labelling which will take a long time but I will go steadily. I don't have to be home for the aerial man. Dinner will be something with chicken. I always have frozen chicken available so I'll probably make a curry which will do two days. Have a good day all.

glammagran Wed 05-Feb-25 08:06:35

Good morning to you all.

DD2 has had the results of her head and neck MRI. It shows she has no lesions so it is not MS. it showed cervical reverse lordosis which has caused C5 to press on a nerve causing pain and numbness with degenerative disc wear in C3-C5 with bone spurs (she’s only 31). It’s very likely she has Ehler’s Danlos syndrome which causes hyper mobility in joints. She is waiting to see a neurologist at some time in the dim and distant future.

We had the youngest DGC to stay at the weekend to give the parents a break. We took them to an Italian for a very early dinner. School pickup for DGD3 yesterday and we
played junior scrabble for the first time which she loved.

Hairdressers’s today followed and a stir fry for dinner. Have a good Wednesday everyone.

baubles Wed 05-Feb-25 08:02:30

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday’s shift in the charity shop was fairly quiet, unsurprising as the weather was foul.

I’m meeting a fellow Gransnetter for coffee this afternoon, it will be lovely to see her.

I’m having dinner out this evening with two near neighbours who have become friends, DH will manage to sort out food for himself despite having a cold. grin

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Wed 05-Feb-25 08:00:31

Good morning Mick and everyone from a somewhat cloudy Carlisle though we are expecting a bit of sun later.
Yesterday I went into town in the pouring rain to get my hair cut and then collected my prescriptions from Boots. I'm fed up with pill-taking, 2 months ago I didn't need any! This is the indefinite future now...
In the afternoon I got on with my book, I'm only 65% through it after hours and hours of reading. I'm glad it's on my Kindle, so much easier to hold than the extremely weighty tome this would be otherwise.

Today I shall do the bathrooms and finish the laundry, there's a lot this week. Then on with that book.
karma I am exhausted already after reading your post! However, I suspect you are a good deal younger than me.
Lovely photo. Ash. What a good view you have from your place.

And wishing you all a good day.

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 05-Feb-25 07:59:53

Good morning from a cold and frosty Oxfordshire, the wind has dropped though and I think we might get some sun.

Dog sitting for a couple of days so wellies will be out along with big coats for walks, the daffodils are coming up with the hyacinths on the little track that leads to the big field, Spring is on its way.

Have a good day everyone, all the best for those who have medical appointments or are feeling unwell.

Liberty Wed 05-Feb-25 07:56:55

Good morning from a bright Suffolk where I have my monthly Teams meeting. Yesterday I had a pedicure and then met a friend for a long leisurely and very chatty lunch.

DGD2 passed her driving test first time yesterday but given the cost of insurance for this 17 year old, I don’t think she’ll be getting her own car soon! Insurance for her would apparently be over £330 per month and nearly £700 to add her to parents’ insurance.

Hope today is a good one for all.

brook2704 Wed 05-Feb-25 07:45:19

Good morning everyone from Spain, it’s our last day here today before heading home tomorrow.
We’ve had such a good time, we definitely both feel so much better but its time to get back to some sort of normal! Today we want to return to one of our favorite places for lunch, it’s a little bit along the coast from Malaga in Pedregalejo. A good walk there and back and then we’ll be done
Hope all goes well today corner, a long day
whiff 💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Laurely Wed 05-Feb-25 07:44:17

Good morning all. Daylight is creeping in here in North Yorkshire. Looked out of the back door - no frost on car windscreen. Cold and damp. Now back in warm bed, drinking tea I have to make for myself. I am trying to get used to the new normal of being a widow, but it's hard. Little jobs: do the ironing, sweep a garden path, do some of the admin, write brief obit for university alumni association, ring sister-in-law...

grandMattie Wed 05-Feb-25 07:44:11

Ash, have you tried Arnica on your stiff joints? I have found it helpful.

Ashcombe Wed 05-Feb-25 07:41:30

Sorry GG13: my comment should have been addressed to cornergran! 🙄

luluaugust Wed 05-Feb-25 07:40:19

Good morning from a brightening W Kent. Not sure what is happening today as we will see how we feel a bit later.
Yesterday a good walk made us both feel better.
Best wishes

Bonnybanko Wed 05-Feb-25 07:37:25

Good morning everyone from a foggy start to the day here on the east coast of Fife
I’m so excited I’m getting a visit from my son today he lives so far away I only see him about 3 times a year woohoo

Enjoy your day my friends remember and smile, smile. smile

Ashcombe Wed 05-Feb-25 07:36:48

Good morning from a dry but chilly Torbay. DH has just raised the blinds on this beautiful sunrise.

On Monday I returned to Move It or Lose It after a two month break due to hospital stay and visit to France. I received a warm welcome but my joints were not happy afterwards! I was glad of DH’s helpful support as I hobbled around Lidl yesterday.

Good luck to Mick and GG13 with your hospital appointments. Quite a journey in the case of the latter!

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Kalu Wed 05-Feb-25 07:31:55

Good morning all. 3deg., wet and windy in Glasgow, it feels colder than 3deg.

Some papers to sign at Solicitors this afternoon which is in the same area as a lovely GN friend. We are meeting up for coffee and I am so looking forward to our catch up.
I started watching Riviera last night and felt quite nostalgic seeing areas we often visited, wondering if I will ever visit them again, solo.

Good luck with your appointment Mick
Enjoy having your GS all to yourself GG. Both GDs are busy teenagers now but we enjoyed the many sleepovers they had at ours. It all flies by so quickly.

Have the best day possible all.

RosesandLilac Wed 05-Feb-25 07:31:54

Good morning from a hillside in south Glos where’s it’s a tad damp and cloudy.
Yesterday I spent sometime sorting out bits and pieces , nothing important.
The dog and I had a lovely afternoon walk in drizzly rain, it didn’t bother us, just pottering around the usual route.
I started an art journal and signed up for a couple of online drawing courses on nature drawing and painting. I can do them at my own pace.
I have plenty to keep me occupied, probably for a number of years if I’m honest!
Wishing you all a good day 🌹

monk08 Wed 05-Feb-25 07:23:21

Good morning all from a dark but dry Black country.
Playgroup duty again this morning, will drop into the shops afterwards to find something for dinner.
Mick hope your appointment goes well.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and safe travels those on the move ☀️.

Redcar Wed 05-Feb-25 07:21:59

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s getting light, but is cold, damp after some rain overnight but I think a bright day is forecast.
The electrician came yesterday morning and fitted a new smoke detector, I hope this one doesn’t go off for no reason. Cleaned the bathroom and cloakroom then visited my friend with dementia.
I have opticians this morning, two challenges for me; finding a parking space on a very busy street and then walking from where I’ve parked to the opticians. I have to drop off a package to DD1’s house in my way home. I’ll finish the ironing before I go out.
Have the best day possible everyone.

harrigran Wed 05-Feb-25 07:08:40

Good morning from the NE where it is windy and feels cool, heating has been on most of the night.
Hairdresser was here an hour yesterday then I just pootled and faffed as no real housework was required.
Sister and BIL are visiting this afternoon, good to have a catch up.
Have a good day.
