Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in brackley this morning.
Slight change of routine today , I have a appointment in the Horton in Banbury early afternoon , but will start to make my way just before midday due to buses .
Health wise I am OK,
Take Care,
Mick

GG13: Grrrrrrr....... I am with you on that one. Why can't men grasp that there is a load line in a chest freezer? And that tossing things about (so that nothing can ever be found again), just does not work? I also have an upright freezer which beeps when the door is left ajar. The noise is usually ignored. Why?

Marydoll you are a brilliant writer. I would have taken a photo of the other car parked in the disabled bay and reported him to the police. I am always sad to read about your on going health issues.I have quite a few myself.Luckily like you I have a very caring husband xx

Karma I am as certain as certain, and without any shadow of a doubt, that six years ago I wouldn't have been able to do what you do!!

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest coast.
A very unsettled night. These occur every so often, when I cannot drop off for love nor money. Possibly dropping off to sleep in front of the tv plays a major part.

The music club yesterday went well but I will give the usual lunchtime recital today a miss and attend to the house.
Flying DD in Singapore and impressive photos coming through.
Thoughts to all 🌺

Marydoll I’m very sorry but the thought of the bath bombs has realy tickled me . Hope today is much calmer for you smile

Rainbow1235 Wed 05-Feb-25 10:18:43

Good morning to u all . It’s our weekly cafe meet up today . My son loves it he has a huge cooked breakfast but he has to sit on a table of his own and then he goes for a wonder around the village it’s a tiny village and I’m happy for him to do that as from the cafe I can see him . He has autism and likes his routine so Wednesdays make him very happy x

MaryDoll I really think you should do a blog about disability as you age, you would I am sure be famous 👏👏👏

G.G. I am too long winded. People would probably doze off!

I think having gone from running around a school, with IT equipment under my arm to becoming a vulnerable and invisible old lady, does not sit well with me.
I must give myself a good talking to!!! Moaning won't change anything.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Feb-25 09:59:07

On another note, DH has just informed me that

someone has left the freezer door ajar in the garage

I somehow managed to keep quiet and not point out that he was the last person to get something out of it.

He then suggested that we or more aptly me needs to check all the contents and clean it out 🤬🤬🤬

BridgetPark, thank you!

I have a very strange sense of humour and that is my way of dealing with things.

I thought today may be better, but DH has just informed me that Scottish Gas (expletive) have forgotten that the a formal complaint resolved the smart meter fiasco and we did not owe millions of pounds.
DH is onto them at the moment.
Unfortunately, Scottish Gas do not communicate with British Gas! Why am I not surprised.

At least the sun is shining and I DH can put out the washing.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton but feeling really chilly, even indoors. Was up earlier to catch my paperboy to ask him not to ride his bike/scooter over my front grass as it is leaving deep ruts and wearing the grass away. He was very apologetic, so am keeping my fingers crossed.

A partly successful visit to the vets yesterday with my cats; one was perfectly behaved and let the vet do a full examination and give her her jabs; the other was much too nervous for an examination, but the vet did manage the jabs. She will have a higher dose of sedation next time.

Was good to see DS - he has the.next week off so he will come down one day and put my new washing line up.

Had a good walk yesterday afternoon, albeit at a slower pace and a slightly shorter route as we had a new walker join us who needs a stick and would have had difficulty keeping up with the main group; so some of us decided to adapt our usual walk. We still ended up at the usual place at the right time for coffee and delicious home-made cake 🎂!

No plans for anything today except a bit of light pottering and reading - I feel as though I just want to curl up in a blanket and do nothing! Which I shall do, as tomorrow is a busy day. Made a large chicken soup/stew yesterday, so I only need to reheat that for my dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good Morning from a chilly Co Armagh, but a lovely blue sky cheers me up
Club shortly , it’s a quiz ! I have a reputation for being good at our quizzes , I think everyone mistakes enthuiasm for brains !
I’ll be away next week so have to attend today to boost the numbers . So many members are poorly or have hurt their ankles and unable to attend
I hope the lift is fixed, last week we had to help one member up the stair , while someone carried her oxygen!!
Our fittest member has broken her ankle slipping while brushing up leaves !
All the best for a good day 💐

BridgetPark Wed 05-Feb-25 09:36:41

Sorry to say this Marydoll, but i have been chuckling at your poor misfortune yesterday, you retell it so comically, although I am sure you didn't find the humour in it at the time!!!
It is bright here this morning in sunny South Birmingham, got some bits and bobs to collect, prescription for an incapacitated neighbour, then back home to carry on working on my BookNook. Hubby had one of the marble construction things for xmas that he is working on, it is very engaging and keeps his mind off other things, thankfully.
Have a good day, all other gransnetters, very grateful for all your postsxx

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone from here in Appleby!

I was in Spar last night and I overheard a couple talking as I was hovering around the fish finger sections. I've absolutely no idea if they were describing a vase or a person or whatever but she said to him ''well, one is tall and fat and the other is short and skinny!''

In my head I was absolutely HOWLING with laughter! My imagination was running riot!

Marydoll Wed 05-Feb-25 09:33:19

Enjoy your catch up, baubles and Kalu.

A leisurely start after a poor night for no obvious reason. Very bored with this and hope things improve. Singing this afternoon and history society tonight so that’s all good. Looks like a beautiful day so must find my sunglasses for later as driving in low sun is challenging.

Marydoll Wed 05-Feb-25 09:19:00

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C, with some sunshine predicted.

* Novella alert*. Feel free to scroll past. I need to offload 😉

Yesterday started badly. The landline rang at 7.45am, no-one ever phones the landline, unless it means trouble. At first I thought it was a scam, for the voice was foreign. It was in fact the roofer to say he would arrive in ten minutes. I was still in bed!
Unfortunately the roof damage was much worse than we thought. Our policy will only cover so much.
While I scrabbled to dress, he showed DH photos of the roof. Off he went to phone the insurance company, because our apex is so high, it needs scaffolding.
We certainly have suffered badly from the storm, between the fence and roof damage.

The day went seriously downhill after that. I won't bore you with the details, but it included most of Silverburn ground floor car park (with many of the disabled spaces) being taped off, bewildered elderly ladies driving the wrong way, trying to exit, abandoned trolleys beside cars, no pedestrian space and the majority of remaining disabled spaces, occupied by non Blue Badge users. 😡
Drivers were going round in round in circles, desperately trying to find a space.
One lady stopped dead in the middle of the car park, in the hope of someone eventually leaving. Unfortunately, she blocked the whole entrance. Cars were queuing up behind her. Eventually, driver behind got out and politely explained that she was causing chaos, she ignored him.

On my way back to my car, another elderly lady reversed out of a space without checking it was safe to do so, just missed me and my trolley and a person trying to get someone into a wheelchair. I keep mentioning elderly ladies, I am not being discriminatory, for I am one myself However, I wonder how many should still be driving.

When I got back to my car a young man was parking beside me. He got out and as he rushed away, I called out and told him he had forgotten something, i.e. to display his Blue Badge.
I'm in a hurry and they mean nothing. I can park where I want. 😡
I explained that there were many disabled drivers, driving round in circles, looking unsuccessfully for a space and that he should be ashamed of himself for being so selfish. He couldn't have cared less.
Normally, I wouldn't have done that, but I seem to be permanently angry annoyed at the moment. My constant health battles are dragging me down.

The day continued to be problematic, including losing my only pound coin under the trolleys at Tesco in the pouring rain. 😂
However, on a lighter note. As I was passing Boots, I noticed a sign, saying 70%off. Well you know that I can't resist a bargain.
I grabbed a load of toiletries for my gift stash and was feeling quite smug. Unfortunately, the tills were all self service, with only a small shelf for the basket. Trying to hold my stick and shopping bag, I got into a fankle.
Twice the till froze and there was no assistant to help. I felt like lying down on the floor and having a tantrum, in the hope that someone would come.
The rude assistant told me off and said I could only put an empty bag in the bagging area and that I had to take my things out of it.😡 There was nowhere to put them, it was such a tight space!
I left, muttering about discrimination against disabled customers (please remember, I was pretty annoyed already about those who abuse Blue Badge spaces).

Just as I left the shop, struggling to walk, the top flew off the verrrrrry long tube of Bath bombs I had bought. There were twelve and they all flew out and rolled through the store and into the Mall. 🤣
Dear reader, this was the last straw and I am afraid, I used a very bad word.😱
The rude assistant ignored my situation, but a number of people chased the bombs down the shop and mall. I was so grateful and extremely embarrassed.
I hope my DD appreciates them, she is having a new bathroom installed next week and they were a surprise for her first bath in years! She only has a shower in her home.

Today, I am not leaving the house, it is safer that way. A parishioner wanted to meet me or she could come to my home, because she needed my help with her remit. However, I have made the decision to be unavailable for a few days, I am so fatigued. I do feel guilty at declining.
I have Safeguarding phone calls to make and paperwork to scan.
Some sewing jobs also await me, so a busy day ahead.

Good luck with the hospital appointments, Susan, I am glad that at last, someone has listened to you.
Safe journey, Brook

Have a pleasant day folks.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s currently 4°C with a forecast of cloudy skies and 8°C.

We are still enjoying TIB whilst reading the papers on line and watching GBNews. We have no plans (nice - will potter, stay cosy) until I go out at teatime to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson.

Now to read the 40+ posts in front of mine!

Grandmabatty I hope things are well with your mum🙏🏻My brothers are the same.A list of ‘issues’ with my mum on Monday they didn’t think to mention to staff.DH and I did the 100 mile round trip yesterday and everything sorted in five minutes🤷‍♀️

My daughter has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome glammagran so if there is anything we can help you with, let me know.

Have the best day you can everyone.🦩

Grammaretto Wed 05-Feb-25 08:51:06

Sorry I think it was Cornergran who has the long trip today. Take care.

Grammaretto Wed 05-Feb-25 08:48:18

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Cold but dry and bright.

The tree surgeon arrived at 8 so at last there will be more peace of mind as he's going to make 2 trees safe from landing on a neighbour's house like one did before Christmas. It's costing heaps but has to be done.

I'll skip yarn group but go to sewing class this afternoon.

I watched the last episode of An t-Eilean last night after Gaelic class and imagined I could understand it 😅🤣

Good luck with the hospital appointments Mick and GG

I hope Marydoll has a better day.

Enjoy the first signs of Spring.

Gingster Wed 05-Feb-25 08:43:01

77 Karma you are amazing!

Gingster Wed 05-Feb-25 08:41:16

Good morning all from a sunny but very chilly Suffolk coast.

Did a bit of gardening , weeding and clearing leaves and sticks. We’ll do a bit more today although my back is aching. How do you do it Karma.🥵. My energy levels are definitely depleting.

I took 2 sack loads of books to 3 different charity shops , all who didn’t really want them. I shared them out - I don’t know what else to do with them 🤔.

We’re going somewhere for lunch today. We tried our local pub yesterday and it was closed 😤. Maybe Aldeburgh or Thorpeness. Or might go the other way, Southwold ? Who knows!

Take care everyone and keep warm
