Good morning from a bright W Kent, I feel exhausted by all the activity on here. I am back to art group today and looking forward to catching up with everyone, I don’t suppose much art will get done. DH has a tooth extraction this afternoon so I think I shall accompany him.
Best wishes

Morning from a frosty S Hants, I’m running a friend to the local train station in a minute, he’s off to Majorca via Gatwick, then I have stretch class.
Safe journey to travellers returning home.

Good morning from a sunny, frosty mid Essex. Opticians yesterday was successful, I found a parking space and walked to the optician’s easily on my crutches. Eyes tested, cataracts growing very slowly, no sign of macular degeneration, so all good. I need slightly stronger lenses so will have those put in the existing frames. Wandered down my garden and think I may be able to rake up a few weeds. May go for a walk later when the frost has cleared.
gg definitely rest for a few days, and good luck with getting your Nectar points back.
Lovely photos from holidays in sunny, warm places!
md I hope you have managed to sort out your electricity bills now!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 1°C, but Alexa tells me that we will have lots of sun.

Ginny, an amazing photo!

Unfortunately, yesterday was no better than the previous day! 😭. My restful day, did not transpire.
DH spent ages on his spreadsheet, preparing for battle with Scottish Gas. Because he couldn't face speaking to them, he made a formal complaint about the ongoing sag and sent it off.
Much to my astonishment, five minutes later, he received a call from them, but my joy was short lived. Although we only had a small debit, they wanted us to increase our DD by £400 per month.

Unfortunately, the lady could not understand DH's Glasgow accent and the colloquialisms he was using. I really do not blame her. The fact that his hearing is problematic, did not help.
I eventually got him to put her on speakerphone, so that I could listen to the debacle and interfere intervene.
Pieces of paper were handed to him, suggesting that she check our usage for the year, rather than the six month winter period they had use to calculate the monthly payment.

After being put on hold, he decided she had hung up and put down the phone! 😡
She did phone back and agreed an over estimation had been done. I suggested that we paid the balance and started with a clean slate.
Three attempts to pay, using my debit card, a call from the bank fraud dept. the money going out of my account, not once, but three times, a call to the bank, attempting to use my credit card as an alternative, and receiving a security code to my phone ( I couldn't find the phone to authorise), the matter (I think has been resolved).
There was a fair amount of gnashing of teeth and under breath muttering on my part. Relations between DH and I were a bit frosty to say the least. He is so stubborn and is always right even when he is wrong! 😉

At 5pm last night, our mail was delivered. Road tax reminders for both cars and a parking fine for DH, from Asda. DH has never had a parking fine in his life! He was raging. We had realised it had recently changed to a two hour maximum stay. It was of course my fault, for suggesting coffee with Babydoll after my recent bloods appointment.
Between all these bills, the storm damaged roof and fence bill, I may have to find a job!

I need to get a move on. We have both Babydoll and Dollie for breakfast and papa will do the school run. BD was sent home from nursery yesterday, unwell. Lots of cuddles today, methinks.
Both will be looking for Scotch pancakes, so their wish is my command.
I also have a BHF uplift today, I have been quite ruthless, I feel liberated. Sadly, some lovely linen sweaters were put in the bag, I realised that they accentuated the curve in my spine. I am indeed my mother's daughter.

Wishing you all a pleasant day. Hopefully BD will nap (highly unlikely) and I can read your posts later.
Have a good day, all.

Good morning all from a frosty North Leicestershire.

It's the monthly Memory Cafe this morning and our usual leader is unwell. She is loved by all so we will be fielding questions all morning and our members who are living with dementia will be discombobulated.

This afternoon, DGS2 will be calling in to say goodbye before he and his girlfriend go off to Australia for a year.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

The WI coffee morning was fun yesterday . I was chatting to two 90+ year olds - one is looking forward to a big 100th birthday party next year!

I attended my last WI committee meeting. I will be in be Australia for the next committee meeting but will be here for the AGM when I stand down officially as secretary. Someone has already said they will take over.

I had a long chat with younger son last night. He is still not ready to make up with his brother. So my heart is still broken.

OH and I are going out for lunch today. At some point I will type up the notes from last night.

Have a good day.

Good morning from s somerset, I am looking forward to wall to wall sunshine today

A full on but very relaxing day on the plot yesterday. Chatting to people every time I go, its a lovely, uplifting, feel-good, way to get to know people, common interest and helpfulness. Structures are now in place, just tweaking to do until next autumn, when I will finish the structures, all wind-proofed now and I added new T hinges and hooks to my shed, which no longer looks ricketty

It will be cold at first but I will go there again at 10am, might be three degrees but I dress up warmly and always end up taking my jacket off

I loaded up my car yesterday on the way home, I will have to make 5 trips with a heavy barrow from car to plot today, good exercise for me and I will be planting some sedums near my shed door and replacing a broken concrete slab, which I tapped too hard with a hammer. I have a whole one in the shed and will bring that one out and swap with the broken slab, which I will tape.

I am getting ready for my 80s, my aim for then is to cycle there, potter and cycle home. I have met some other women who will also be cycling, could well be the start of a friendship group with common interests

Obviously no housework today but I will do a bit of spinning this evening while watching call the midwife on iplayer

Have a good day

Good morning from Lancashire. I've just been putting out the bins and it's very frosty. I'm glad I wore my gloves!
Might go for a walk in the park today.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 06-Feb-25 06:54:56

Morning Mick and everyone.

I didn’t manage a lot of sleep last night, the events of the day kept up a constant stream through my addled brain 😿

I am rather sore, I will give in and rest most of the day. I admit to being a rather inpatient patient. The one thing I must do is find out how some scumbag managed to spend all of my nectar points yesterday. I had saved them up to buy new bedding, already decided what colour, pattern etc. 🤬🤬🤬 Hopefully Sainsbury’s will be helpful.

DH is up and getting ready to see the 9 yr old off to school, he was rather worried that DH wouldn’t know where his bits of kit were or how he liked his egg and bacon sandwich 😹

Thank you for all your kind wishes 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from a frosty hillside in south Glos, there’s ice on the car this morning.
I had a good sort out of my yarn yesterday and I gave two big black bags of wool to my friend who crochets blankets for charity. I now have only my sock yarns and a single pack of dk should I decide to crochet again. Then I rearranged the contents of my craft room so I have everything ready for doing the online drawing courses that I’ve signed up to.
It took me over two hours but was very satisfying.
Apart from that it was the usual things, dog walk etc.
Today I have art group this afternoon, looking forward to that!
Wishing you all well 🌹

GG, that's not fair to disabled people.
Please email your council!
They might do something about it!!

brook2704 Thu 06-Feb-25 06:27:47

Good morning everyone from Spain, we’re just about to head off to the airport for our flight home later, we should be back in our own beds in Inverness tonight - well wrapped up of course!
Hope you feel ok today GG13, not too painful
Enjoy every minute of your fantastic holiday Ginny thanks for the photos!
Bellasnana ❤️
Must dash, thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Georgesgran Thu 06-Feb-25 06:17:34

Good morning from Durham. It’s still dark, but the forecast is for wall to wall sunshine! Can that be true? It must be chilly though, as the heating has just fired up.

A day to myself, although DD2 presented me with a massive bag of laundry last night - 4 loads. I’ve some admin to do today and need to buy a couple of birthday gifts for next week.
Football was successful, so Son-in-L will be off to Wembley next month - ho’way the lads!!

What a mishap GG I hope you feel better today.
MD what can I say? The use of disabled bays by non badge holders really is my bugbear! I’d gladly issue tickets to offenders as a hobby!!! My local retail park has a 4 hour parking limit, enforced by camera, but nothing in place to stop the misuse of the disabled parking, by lazy sods, especially those returning/collectinf stuff in Next who say they’ll only be 2 minutes and are too lazy to park elsewhere and walk a bit further!
Rant over. Hope you’re feeling a bit better, too?

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Malta where it has rained overnight but is fine now. I’ve just run up to the corner shop as DD3 has run out of milk and it is damp but not cold.

Had a lovely day with the boys yesterday. They didn’t nap or eat lunch at the same time but I managed to have them ready and delivered to nursery on time.

DD3 has noticed I’m not myself since coming off anxiety pills. I have been struggling so I gave in and took one this morning. I can’t live with this feeling of doom, much as I don’t like taking pills.

grandMattie there’s no admiration needed. I’m pretty useless and wish I was as productive as you with your baking, needlework and general busyness.

I do appreciate being involved with the boys as I’ve missed out on so much of DGD’s life with her living so far away in Florida.

I’ve always loved babies and little children, was a Nursery Nurse and always worked with children before having four of my own. The grandchildren are the icing on the cake.

I must dash as DD3 needs to leave for school.

Have a good day all.☀️

Great photos Ginny! Enjoy your fabulous holiday.

Pantglas2 Thu 06-Feb-25 05:55:26

Good morning Mick from a dark Marrakesh where the imam has called all to 🙏

It’s rather cold here first thing so layered up until 10 then glorious 🌞 til evening when a fleece is needed - I’m the only one who brought the correct clothing assortment …where’s the emoji for a smug face when you need it? 🤣

Fascinating and hilarious reading Miss Marydoll’s Mischiefs again, interspersed with sympathy of course 🤗 for your ailments - you’re so cheering in spite of your difficulties!

GG - what are you up to? You’re far too busy to be immobile! At least you’ve had your ‘3’ bad lucks altogether and things can only get better 🤞

Last full day which will be restful after all the trotting around souks buying stuff - two shawls and a stunning ochre ornament for the spare bedroom wot I ave done up!

Looking forward to being back in my little 🪺 tomorrow evening and it looks like drying weather for the weekend - well done 👏

Those snowdrops are delightful Grammaretto - mine ran off with the daffs and I miss them 😢

Greyduster Thu 06-Feb-25 05:51:53

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where there is a hard frost outside so it looks as though I shall have to de-ice the car to go to walking group this morning and be well wrapped up. I hate early starts on cold mornings😩. Afterwards I’ll have my usual lunch with DD - and GS too as he has a study day.
Have the best day you can folks.

ginny Thu 06-Feb-25 05:44:48

Middle photo there by mistake although if you look very carefully at the you might spot some giraffes!

ginny Thu 06-Feb-25 05:43:37

Good morning from Zimbabwe and beautiful hot weather .
We have been quite busy so far. We have visitors the amazing Victoria Falls, a boat trip on the Zambezi River ( lots of hippos) and a traditional dinner and entertainment.
We have a veiw from our room of a water hole and have watched Impala, bushbuck, warthogs and giraffes.
We shall have a relaxing morning and then we return to S. Africa and on to safari.
Wishing all a good day.

grandMattie Thu 06-Feb-25 05:41:58

Good morning from Bristol. Another sunny day, although there has been a frost. The days are getting (marginally) longer.
Glad that your eyes are doing well, Mick.
The FAB cafe was well attended and we had some happy punters. I was told that they liked the coffee (and cake!🎂🤣)
Today, I’ve got floors to clean and tai chi to go to.
In the afternoon, DD is taking me, and probably the girls,to see the Bristol lights. They have all sorts of things, arcane, impenetrable and fun (pace flamingos) and the pink heart disco ball at DD’s church…
May that mountain you have to climb, magically flatten. Have a good day all.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Mick hope your chair arrives unscathed and is comfortable for you.

Not sure about the weather yet, but the sky is clear with lots of stars.

An easy day today, apart from some baking to do, then a dog walk later, we will then deliver her back to MissOops.

Have a good day everyone.
