Good morning from Shropshire.A dull day forecast.

We had a lovely afternoon celebrating DGS1’s seventh birthday.
He had a joint birthday party with one of his friends. They had a magician to entertain them for an hour.He was really good and the children loved him.

Today I am meeting my brothers at my mum’s house as quite a lot of discussion needed.I have POA but for the sake of family harmony I will discuss everything with them and hopefully we can decide things together🙏🏻they aren’t always the easiest🤯

Hope the pain eases and you can be more comfortable GG.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning all and it’s damp and dreary here in Essex.

DS1 and DIL came in for coffee yesterday with updates of the granddaughters - new job, pending exams, boyfriends etc. I love to hear all the news as we don’t get to see them very much these days.

Dd and gd are coming for roast chicken .we always have Sunday dinner early afternoon and then we have the rest of the time relaxing, playing games or watching a film.

I hope you find your pains easing Madelaine and you find a more comfortable position to sleep GG.

Take care 🌱

Good morning from a happy person here on the east coast of Fife. I’ll be packing for my trip to Tenerife where it’s much warmer than here . Il be meeting a few friends in Tenerife. My photo is from last years trip.

Be safe and smile today

Morning all from a foggy West Oxfordshire.

A quiet day today. I’ll read the papers, cook beef bourguignon for dinner and then watch the pottery-off.

OH finds it too painful to sit or stand for long so we can’t go out for the day or the cinema. Hopefully his forthcoming operation will be successful.

Have a good day.

Good Morning everyone, another wet and windy day. We sure need some sunshine. Have the best day you can.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry. Very grey though. Bellasnana I'm glad you decided to speak to the doctor. Ash I never win stuff in a raffle. Well done.
Yesterday I went to Aldi to get in food, then the library to pick up my Mary Beard book. I borrowed two books on snakes for dgs1 to look at too. Then I pottered about til dgs1 arrived. He was really pleased to see the books. We had a lovely evening. He's a delight to have-when he's on his own! Popcorn and then nachos and hot chocolate finished the evening after his bath. He enjoys a bath in my house for some reason. Then bed. I had a fairly early night and slept well.
I woke to the sound of movement in the boys room so went through and he was sitting in bed reading his book. At the moment I'm having coffee and he's playing with his iPad. Later we're going to the local garden centre for breakfast. We'll both enjoy that. This afternoon I'll visit mum after he's been picked up. I'm making a big pot of mince in the slow cooker today which will be served with tatties or turned into cottage pie. Have a good day all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from what looks like a cloudy Carlisle, still to dark to tell.
Yesterday I nipped into town early for various necessities and then came home to the usual long phone chat with my sister.
Then I spent the rest of the day pottering at various little tasks and reading the paper. I'm feeling lost without my long tome to read but I'm having a break before starting something else, I'll catch up with my magazines first.
Today will be a fairly lazy day, doing a bit of sorting out of this and that and hopefully reading aforementioned magazines.

I love snowdrops too madeleine but as succeeding gardens have shrunk, so have my snowdrop patches. No big swathes any more. I am gradually expanding the ones in my front lawn though by planting them in the green every spring but what a tedious job that is! I fibrillated at the thought of buying a thousand at once and do it by the hundred so it's a slow expansion. I need to last a lot longer to see the results of my labours....

And wishing you all a good Sunday especially those of you suffering pain and other problems.

Good morning all from a chilly and misty looking North Leicestershire.

We did little yesterday- which doesn't happen often. Today should be similar after roast pork at lunch time.

Hopefully we'll get a message from DGS2 to say that he is safely in Australia - he's 22 and with his very capable girlfriend - but still. grin

Have the best day possible all.

Redcar Sun 09-Feb-25 07:48:14

madeleine I was also awake at 5.00 this morning, a bit anxious in case the smoke detector went off as it often does on a Sunday morning! It didn’t, but I didn’t go back to sleep!

brook2704 Sun 09-Feb-25 07:47:56

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a chilly -3° with a forecast high of 2° later 🥶
Bellas pleased you’re getting the help you need ❤️
We’re off to DD2s this morning, it’ll be good to see the her and the DGC and catch up with all their news. I also like snowdrops madeleine but didn’t know about the word for it, I do hope you get to see some soon
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s quite light, but wet, cold and cloudy, as usual! I need to go out this morning to deliver a card to a friend.
After a quick visit to the emergency dentist yesterday morning, I changed the bedclothes, washed them and got them dry, ready to iron if I can be bothered to do it! The miserable weather really got me down yesterday.
gg13 I’m so sorry that you’re struggling to sleep with the frame on your leg. Can you doze on the sofa during the day? Well done for getting your manicure!
bella good that you’re feeling better now.
Hoping all those in the sick bay feel a bit better today.
Have the best day possible everyone, stay dry and warm.

Good morning from Durham. It’s just starting to get light, but rain is forecast and it’s still feeling cool.
Greyduster I have named my new boiler Merlin, as it appears to kick in at odd times, as if by magic.
I’m eating out with DD1 and family at lunchtime - they’ll have roasts, but it’s fish and chips for me. It’s SinL’s birthday on Tuesday, so I’ll take his card and gifts with me. DD2 might have laundry for me, so I could collect that on my way home.

Best wishes to all. X

Ashcombe Sun 09-Feb-25 07:25:14

Good morning from a chilly Torbay with some sunshine forecast for this morning.

It’s good to hear you sounding so much better, Bellasnana and long may that remain so.
I’m sorry you’re sleep is being spoiled by the leg brace, GG13. Is it possible to position pillows around to make it more comfortable? Perhaps I’m teaching the proverbial granny….!

The Coffee Morning was well attended yesterday and we won wine and biscuits in the raffle. Church this morning when I might hear why the alarm went off at 4.00a.m. which woke poor DH (but not me sans hearing aids!)

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Good morning Mick and all GN's up and about now.

Well, I think I am going crazy this morning!! After quite a good day yesterday, where I managed to do quite a lot of things I wanted to get done, gave up on the planned ride on the yellow peril to the repair clinic, but got shopping from the market and my paper etc. Got home and enjoyed watching some of the rugby - annoyingly fell asleep in part of it, so also missed part of a play on the radio. Then had my chicken curry for dinner which I had made yesterday, so you would think it would then mean I had a good night.

Not a bit of it!! Had a horrible night waking up in a lot of pain, a weird dream, couldnt find a comfortable way to get to sleep and then got up just before 5am, which was a sort of relief just giving up on trying to sleep. Well it obviously affected my brain too, as I was convinced it was monday, and I have an appointment with the physio, as I am in pain so much of the time now and thought perhaps something new might be available to help me . Wasnt holding out a great deal of hope as the last time we talked he confirmed that I am doing all the things I can to help myself and only suggested more painkillers which I dont want to do . Anyway after the poor night I must have the appointment on the brain, as I was looking what to wear, that will be easy to take off or whatever. Then I made a coffee and was just going through some bits of paperwork and throwing stuff away. I get the Radio Times, and usually look through whats on both tv and radio for the day and mark up anything I particularly want to hear and if there is something special I make a note that I would like to listen to that play and so will organise the day so that I might do the ironing while it is on etc. When my hands are bad even the magazine seems heavy to hold so, although I , of course, would never rip books or magazines up, quite like to tear out redundant pages of the RT, so it is lighter to hold and it is just a silly bit of fun to be ripping paper out of a book. So , in my odd frame of mind this morning, have just ripped out all sundays page, and only when I came on here did I see it is sunday!!!! Ah well, cheering to think I have more rugby to watch and shall enjoy my desert island discs and private passions on the radio, as it doesnt look at all good outside, dark cold and not expected to be any better according to the weather forecast, so I shall retrieve sundays pages from the bin and plan a day of inside things, and of course have the rugby to look forward to.

Think that the combination of the physio and then the hospital appointment for thursday for them to check the cataracts , which of course is so important but I cannot do anything to influence things is making me more edgy than usual. So much for the calming day yesterday!!

I am a 'galanthophile ,'thats snowdrop lover, and in my last garden had over 100 different kinds and would have snowdrops beginning in october and going on until april. I used to go off to galanthophile weekends where we all met up and talked snowdrops and bought snowdrops and visited some fantastic gardens. . Since I moved here, I have missed them but have been able to go off in the car and visit so lovely gardens. Due to my eyes now I cannot drive at the moment so not able to even do that. Was looking in the local paper to see if anyone had a garden open near here but no luck so far Oh well by this time next week hopefully I will have a better idea on the eye front and who knows some miracle exercise or tablet will improve my back (but shant hold my breath!!) I wish someone would invent a special gadget on the telephone, so that y ou could press a button and it would perhalps flash a light, so that if you were awake in the middle of the night and someone else was also awake you could talk to each other and not feel you are the only idiot awake at such ungodly hours. I see that you where awake Greyduster , perhaps it is a Yorkshire wake up night for some reason! Ah well hope that everyone has a good day and does something enjoyable on it. I only hope now that I dont fall asleep through the next game of rugby,Take care of yourselves and have a good day

Good morning all. 1 deg. and still dark outside in Glasgow.

Only plan so far for today, an electrician is coming to put a light fitting inside my new larger shed. The last thing I need is yet another fracture stumbling around a dark shed.

My sympathy to those suffering with pain and sleep deprivation. My ongoing sciatica is now classed as chronic and I live in hope that it will just clear up but goodness knows where I go from here.
I am pleased to hear the anxiety pills are working for you Bella. No point suffering in silence when specific medication is needed.

Hoping a pleasant stress free day is ahead for all.

cornergran Sun 09-Feb-25 06:27:49

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp, cold corner of Somerset. Grey day forecast.

Yesterday’s trip over the bridge was so much less exhausting with a chauffeur for the majority of the way. We all enjoyed lunch before appreciating our son’s strong arms to carry in shopping for our friend. I’ve never become used to the 32 steps at the front of her home, there are a mere 10 at the back, all so steep. Unfortunately our friend is struggling in many ways now including with hearing, we had some giggles over confused and confusing chat. We left concerned for our friend living alone in a very large and difficult to manage home

There were several messages and calls from our goddaughter during the day. Her Mum had been whisked off to hospital in Cambridge after becoming unresponsive after a seizure. She was able to be returned to the nursing home by ambulance late evening after many checks and scans by professional and kind A&E staff, fortunately no new brain damage, a worrying day for everyone leaving concern for her future care.

We hope for a quiet time today. I’ll retrieve a jigsaw for Mr C, trim his hair and return to the photos after a quick visit to Aldi. A ready made lasagne for a meal later will round off the day.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, bright until lunch then dull all day

I intend to get to the plot by 9, still very cold then but the sun warms me. I decided to get 4 more 1m sq raised beds into place and today will clear weeds, dig clay and mark out, half the work today and half tomorrow. I am excited to get this done

French toast for me soon, breakfast part two and then I will prep food for my lunch

Spinning again this evening

Have a good day

Good morning from Bristol. It was dreary, with a very cold wind yesterday. Rain this pm.
I’m sorry about the pain and sleeplessness, GG13, I hope it gets better soon.
Yesterday, I went into church to clean my bit, before coffee and chat and was surprised that the heating was already on. I was going to show off my new responsibilities by putting it on myself before people started coming in!
We were 20 at the coffee and chat, the largest number I’ve seen to date. The poor lady serving was quite glad of my help. Her scheduled helper didn’t turn up. The helper is a lovely lady but so very scatterbrained and is always very late or completely forgets to come. Her response to the message was “have you got help?”!
The afternoon was spent pottering. I made a delicious aubergine dish in my air fryer. I love aubergine.
Today, much of the same; church and pottering in the afternoon.
I hope you have a blessed Sunday, pain and/or anxiety free. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Greyduster Sun 09-Feb-25 05:59:15

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a still dark South Yorkshire. It’s four degrees outside. I woke up at about four this morning in a sweat as it appears my heating had been on for quite a while. I don’t know why - it is controlled by Hive and wasn’t due to kick in until six. All the settings were correct. I hate things that have a mind of their own! Anyway I had to get up and fiddle around with it and there was no getting back to sleep after that.
My son came yesterday after the match and ate dinner with me before heading off home. It’s always lovely to see him even if it’s a flying visit. Today DD and the menfolk are coming for high tea and I’ve promised a chicken and mushroom pie so that will keep me busy today.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Bellasnana Sun 09-Feb-25 05:55:06

Good morning from Malta where it is just getting light and we are in for a day of thundery rain and wind with a high of 15°C.

Yesterday I saw my doctor who was so kind and understanding. I’m now back on my anxiety pills and feel like a new person, I even slept better. Also got a lot more done instead of sitting on the sofa overthinking things.

I watched the first set of Alcaraz’s match then nodded off and missed the rest! So disappointing but never mind.

Mass this morning with so much to be thankful for, then my weekly chat with my loyal pal in Leicester. She has booked a trip to stay with me in October.

Wishing you all a peaceful Sunday.☀️

GrannyGravy13 Sun 09-Feb-25 05:49:58

Morning Mick

No idea what the weather is like it’s still dark. Another night of little sleep, it’s virtually impossible to get comfortable with this leg brace.

DH is cooking the roast (chicken) this evening, I will be lazing all day on the sofa with legs elevated, reading, watching TV and spending far too much time on GN.

Enjoy Sunday folks 🙋‍♀️
