Good morning from grey cold Cambridgeshire.

Galanthophile is a new word I only came across a few days ago. I love snowdrops just something so cheering to see in Feb. My mum had loads in her garden. I have a few in mine and add to the collection each year. My love is also Hellebores and I bought a beautiful one this week which I will put in a pot to enjoy outside my kitchen French doors.

Not a lot happening here today just a potter in house and garden and a roast dinner to cook later. DD2 and family have nasty colds/flu so no visit from them today. They are hiding in the sick bay😂

Hope everyone has the best day possible.

’galanthophile ,'thats snowdrop lover

A word I only came across last week in the Saga magazine (Susie Dent’s Word to the Wise column) is delightful I think. It’s ‘hydropot’ aka water drinker. Describes our Boy Wonder perfectly. He’d choose it over cola any day!

Good morning everyone from another dull and dank Northampton day, 2°C outside and a bit misty.

Wow what excitement at the rugby yesterday; two excellent matches with the results we wanted!
First at my live rugby match where we (Northampton Saints) beat Coventry 50- 23, and then home to watch England play France.
Just knew our Saints players would come through and they sure did - first a try from our back Tommy Freeman, then Fin Smith kicking the winning conversion! I leapt out of my chair!

Will now be able to calmly watch Scotland play Ireland this this afternoon - I shall be supporting Ireland (DS-in-law is Irish).

Nothing else really planned for today, catch up with the papers and watch the rugby. And put the three portions of left-over hotpot in the freezer.

Wishing all a calm and pleasant Sunday.

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Late this morning so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
My flowers need replacing so will pop round to Aldi to see what they have got.
No other plans roast chicken for dinner with pigs in blankets.
Have a great day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed. ☀️

Good morning everyone, a foggy, chilly start here in south Glos, I took DH to the hospital for an investigation at 7.30 and it was a very murky drive. I’m now waiting for him to phone me for a lift home.
The dog and I have been out for a walk, the sun is trying to break through the clouds, and I am now enjoying my first coffee.
Yesterday morning I had a lovely embroidery workshop in a nearby town, a lovely way to spend a horrible cold, wet morning. I did, however, get very cold and it took me most of the afternoon to get warm.
I’m looking forward to a quiet afternoon doing more embroidery.
Hugs and best wishes to you all 🌹

Good luck today Susan it’s such a difficult situation.
More pictures welcomed *Liberty and thank you for yours Grammaretto, I do love them. It’s my birthday soon, both children asked for suggestions, I’ve requested snowdrops planted in the back garden, lots!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 09-Feb-25 09:17:16

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and the sun is trying to shine. I’m meeting L’il Miss and her mum in the square for coffee in an hour. The Boy Wonder has a ⚽️ match but it’s only a friendly so he’s just going (miles away!) with his dad today.

Sunday meal with my stepfather in my favourite pub this afternoon. Lovely.

grandMattie Sun 09-Feb-25 09:11:38

So on…😡

Susan56 Sun 09-Feb-25 09:10:09

Grandmabatty that’s exactly it😩

grandMattie Sun 09-Feb-25 09:09:12

MD, I’m not getting involved in the convoluted heating arrangements… too many opinions and soon!. Just happy that I have been shown how to put it on.

Good morning from dull and cold South Lanarkshire.

Beautiful snowdrops. I always think they’re such a hopeful sight.

I spent a chunk of yesterday going through boxes of photos with the intention of making up a couple of albums as a sort of timeline of our life together. I’ll pop into ‘my’ charity shop today to see if they still have the albums I spotted on Tuesday but didn’t buy.

DD’s youngest child turns six tomorrow but his birthday tea will be today after the rugby so that’s today sorted.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning from a dull but dry Oxfordshire after a very wet Saturday.

We have the dog so will go with MrOops when he takes her for a walk. Apart from that a nothing day.
Lots going on with the nephew, but MrOops is going to step in along with MissOops either tomorrow or Tuesday and try to help. He is really being taken advantage of and is in a very bad place mentally. I hope they can sort things out so that he can be happy, he has some new pills, just a weeks worth, hopefully they will help a little, but we might need a Solicitor to step in.

Have a good day everyone.

Grammaretto Sun 09-Feb-25 09:00:14

Please post photos Liberty we never tire of them.

Grandmabatty Sun 09-Feb-25 08:59:35

Susan my sympathy. My brother wanted nothing to do with the guardianship I'm having to do for mum. Didn't want to be joint guardian nor research care homes etc. However he's very happy to make comments about choices I'm having to make. I nod and say little.

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Just a decluttering day yesterday and did a Joan Crawford, removing all my wire hangers without the tantrums…
More clothes into the jumble bag. I seem to have a predilection for blue blouses, so am now down to two.

Today a meet up with friend at art gallery and lunch in the nice cafe, but really feel like hibernating.
Have a great time Bonnybanko and thoughts to all🌺

Taichinan Sun 09-Feb-25 08:38:15

Good morning all, and enjoy watching the cycling while reclining in that lovely new chair Mick.
I'm glad the medication for your anxiety has worked so quickly Bella. GG13 so sorry you're not getting your much-needed sleep.
Reading about that lovely time you're having with your DGS1 Grandmabatty I sort of wish the two DGDs I used to look after were young again (and therefore I also 😉) but at the same time they're so lovely at any age. And talking of age, DD is up in Scotland again this weekend and took the chance to go and visit DGS1 and L'le Ollie yesterday. It's the first time she's met him and if course she's fallen in love with him - she sent me a lovely photo of her and New Man with him. As I looked at it I realised he is her Great-nephew. Good grief! Not only is my son a grandfather, but my daughter is a great aunt!! If that isn't an aging concept, I don't know what is 😂.
Anyway must away and get ready to go and meet DD, New Man and the two DGDs in Perth for brunch. I always feel so fortunate that I can still hop in the car and drive all that way.
Anyway off I must trot - and I'll have a vision of those swathes of snowdrops in my mind's eye as I drive Madeline. Enjoy a restful Sunday everyone (except for you of course Karma 😉)

Good morning from a dark and dank Black Country.

Arrived home from Birmingham yesterday around 12.30. Loved the film A Complete Unknown. Some of the dialogue though we had difficulty hearing though. Then a meal at Miller and Carter.

No real plans today, a bit of housework and maybe ironing.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Marydoll Sun 09-Feb-25 08:32:32

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 2°,

GG, I am sorry that you are in so much pain. Wishing you a restful day. 💐

Bella, you sound much brighter.

Although our heating is timed, it sometimes comes on during the night, without prompting, if the temp drops below a certain level.

GM, in the church, parish hall and tearoom, the heating is timed. The former PP had locked boxes surrounding the controls and we were always freezing. However, the new PP removed them and I have set the controls for different times to cover all the times the buildings are used. It certainly won me brownie points with parishioners.
Could someone in your church not set it for regular activities?

I am off to 10am Mass to support the sacristan. He has been struggling to manage, due to the new PP telling anyone and their granny, that they can be an altar server, without thinking of the ramifications.
They haven't a clue, made worse by the fact that the curate decided this would be an all singing, all dancing High Mass, complete with incense and many candles. The sacristan on duty has been overwhelmed and phoned to ask if I could support him today.

I have been forced to put my foot down about the lit candles and young, inexperienced servers, carrying heavy candlesticks. I am not in his good books, but Safeguarding takes precedence over his desire for show. Unfortunately, he is the celebrant at 10am this morning, let battle commence.
Also, I need to monitor the Children's Liturgy. Some parents see it as a crèche and send preschoolers, who are not eligible. Last week was awful, the leaders were very stressed and of course, as Safeguarding Coordinator, I got the brunt of it.
After that, I have two meetings with parishioners, who have asked for my help.
I shall then go home and probably fall asleep!
My horrendous cough has come back with a vengeance it is so embarrassing and is dragging me down, along with my high pain levels. I am quite annoyed (an understatement) at the limitations it imposes on my daily living.

For those out and about and meeting families, enjoy. Virtual hugs for all, who are struggling and a special mention for my school pal, Borrheid. 💐

Good morning from a damp W Kent. A mixed night after eating out late for us with DD2 and family. The restaurant is very popular and was packed out and noisy but the food is really good. We enjoyed a change of scene and shouted away to each other.
Today I have decided to cook the small turkey crown bought just in case Christmas went awry, lots of meat for the freezer.
Wishing everyone as good a day as possible

GrannySomerset Sun 09-Feb-25 08:29:50

More grey skies but dry at present. Am out to lunch and then we have evensong later so the day is accounted for. Very long phone call yesterday from a friend’s daughter with concerns about her mother. Nothing practical I can do but one or two suggestions which may help, but families can be so complex.

Jaxjacky Sun 09-Feb-25 08:29:15

Morning, a light frost on the cars and high cloud.
Very frustrating GG13 do you know how long the brace will be on?
Please you’ve seen the Dr Bellas, life will be easier for you.
Yesterday was wall to wall sport, with a short walk in the gap, I’ll get out today too, listening to GQT, meat draw at 5, chicken for dinner.

PS see Grammaretto has beaten me to it!

Liberty Sun 09-Feb-25 08:27:24

Good morning from a damp and dull Suffolk…..much like the rest of the country it seems. We are so looking forward to our cruise to Casablanca and the Canary Isles where we hope to have days of sunshine. We leave on Thursday so need to get my act together with sorting out what to pack etc.

Today will be a quiet indoors one after the usual morning dog walk and a trip in the car to get today’s newspaper. I hope that those tired from a poor night’s sleep or in pain( thinking especially of you GG have a reasonable day.

Our snowdrops in the thousands are at their best on the grass but just coming into flower in the cell. I’ll take a couple of photos later and post them tomorrow for the snowdrop lovers amongst you.

Grammaretto Sun 09-Feb-25 08:25:43

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Where has the sun gone? 🌞

I was also awake too early- a legacy from my hip operation perhaps but I dozed again.

Yesterday I began clearing my DD's old room of all the things which have
nothing to do with her, as she's coming to stay this week. I got exhausted after carting 4 chairs down 2 flights of stairs. This moving house lark is not for the faint hearted.

I have booked another volunteer Helper but not until mid March.

Today I shall drive to the recycle centre with stuff no-one wants and see if any of DH's cousins want any of his heirlooms before I sell them.

I can imagine your friend corner
She's one of my cautionary tales 😧

Poor you GG no sleep and in pain. Get ye to the doctor PDQ.

There was a galanthophile in this house Madeleine anothing reason why it will be a wrench moving. Here are some of mine, again.

Hoping everyone has some niceness today.
