Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry and cold start here in brackley , mind you I wish we could get more milder weather which you associate with spring.
Doing my usual bus journey to Bicester , do a bit of a shop and hopefully see people I know .
Health wise OK ,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from 2degree Kent.
My sympathy over the eye gM I now have a bloodshot second eye but luckily seeing the Consultant tomorrow and carrying on with the many drops.
Today is art group this morning, I find it heavy going nowadays we seem to just copy other people’s paintings so I think I might try and branch out a bit in between the chatting.
Good luck Madeleine
Best wishes

Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, cold corner of Somerset.

A this and that day at home ahead. Phone calls, financial admin, bits to sort ready for family birthday celebrations at the weekend, tidying the guest bedroom and with luck seeing the top of the bed again. Nothing exciting, just good to have it all done.

It seems a day for eye issues. Wishing you all a successful outcome, good luck at the excellent eye hospital grandmattie, it’s a place I know well.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Ashcombe Thu 13-Feb-25 07:48:49

Good morning from a dreary, cold and windy Torbay. Like others on here, I long for Spring.

Thank you for the kind comments yesterday. My left leg/hip still isn’t right but I managed to go to Wednesday Club where we heard one of our best talks ever. An 85 year old Canadian lady, who has recently joined Toads, recounted her adventures whilst crewing a 33 ft yacht up the Inside Passage of Alaska. Everyone was enthralled throughout a well prepared talk which lasted over an hour,

A quiet day beckons although I might meet online via Zoom with the Stroke Survivors.

I hope your eye problem is easily treated, grandMattie, and that your eye appointment goes well, kittylester.
No doubt your little grandsons will enjoy their painting, Bellasnana.

Have as good a day as possible, everyone. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and dry, still very cold though at -1° and frosty
Hoping all is ok with your eye gMattie and you’re seen quickly
Yesterday it was lovely to have DD2 and the DGC here for tea, DGD loves to help with the cooking, DGS not so much. Today DH and I are going out for coffee and then a walk somewhere nearby.
So pleased you had a good catch up kalu and topsy and you’ve got your mojo back, also have a lovely meet up today baubles and stilllearning
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning everyone from another dreary, cold, dull day on the Essex coast.
My DGD has been given a higher dose of steroids to take and no school until after half term. She hates taking them as they make her feel 'like my head is going to explode'. They do help her Asthma though.
Food shopping this morning and the last two episodes of my current series to watch this afternoon.
I hope your eye is OK GM.
Have a joyful day everyone and maybe the sun will shine soon. Best wishes to all xx

harrigran Thu 13-Feb-25 08:03:30

Good morning from a cold, damp NE.
This has felt like the longest winter.
Sister and BIL visited yesterday, they picked up my prescription on the way.
Nothing planned for today so maybe look for a film on Netflix.
Have the best day you can.

Taichinan Thu 13-Feb-25 08:05:21

Good morning all. It's still grey on the Angus coast BUT yesterday for a few seconds I saw a patch of blue (not large enough to make a pair of sailor's trousers though 😉) AND this morning there's a pretty pink sunrise way out where the sea meets the sky. Now that's my definition of hope!
Apart from that there's nothing to report. Yesterday was just a pleasant relaxing day of pottering around the house and today it's tai chi and shopping. I hope you are all well, or at least feeling better, and that Liberty is enjoying the first day of her cruise and has maybe found that elusive ☀️ already. Enjoy your day x

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Good turnout at the lunchtime recital yesterday and afterwards I went for a bite to eat with a friend from my music club. He’s very good company and we talked and laughed for nearly three hours.
Today off with big bags to the charity shop as my mild decluttering continues. Memo to self: No rooting about once at the shop!
I was amused by a Tik Tok clip last night, a comedian said she had been going to a slimming club with no results and was told she must have an over active knife and fork😁

Hope “the eyes have it” for our grans with eye trouble and thanks for nice comments on my painting yesterday. Very witty Grandmabatty🌺

Grammaretto Thu 13-Feb-25 08:18:39

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Slightly better weather.

Grr gMattie your unreliable helper.
I hope you don't have to wait too long at A&E
The film My Cousin Rachel was on Film 4 a couple of nights ago. I watched it and now want to read the book.

DD didn't manage to come. She's not well but will come at the weekend.

I viewed an excellent house for sale but since my own won't be ready to
sell for a couple of months, I doubt that it will still be on the market.

Today should be more sorting and decluttering.

I'm glad you found the offending security tag before you were arrested Marydoll though we would all visit you in prison 😉
Those girls must be such a joy.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

grandMattie Thu 13-Feb-25 08:23:30

Thanks for the good wishes. I’m not too worried as I had been warned that the operation might trigger a recurrence of uveitis. I suspect this what it is. A long course of steroid drops probably but I still need to be seen.

Aisha Thu 13-Feb-25 08:25:35

Good morning Mick,
Glad to hear you're doing well! Hopefully, the weather warms up soon for a proper spring feel. Enjoy your trip to Bicester—hope you find some good deals and catch up with familiar faces. Stay warm and take care!

Grandmabatty Thu 13-Feb-25 08:26:38

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry, but still grey. GrandMattie I hope all is well with your eye. Ash similarly with your hip. RosiesMaw I know exactly what you mean about that film. It was a very disturbing film.
Yesterday I pottered about in the morning then went to the school. I met dgs1 with one of his friends as I was going in. He was clarty! He was keen to show me the escape tunnel they were digging with a tiny stick. I don't have fears they'll be emulating The Great Escape any time soon. While I was working, in comes dgs2 with the nursery and his grandad. He was very surprised and pleased to see me. They had a book activity to do. I made a large pot of mince and had some with mash and dumplings last night.
Today I'll make pea and ham soup before I go to the school for a while. I have books to return to the public library too. Have a good day all.

Gingster Thu 13-Feb-25 08:31:47

Good morning all - cloudy but dry.

Yesterday went well at the eye clinic (it must be the time for 👀 GM, *kitty and lulu.
The bus journey both ways was good - so much better than driving and parking, which is almost impossible.

I was seen by four different nurses/doctors having different tests. The outcome is more drops for glaucoma and a referral to the cataract clinic. Very thorough, and in and out in two hours. Excellent service all on the NHS. 🙏.
I hope everyone’s appointments prove the same.

Our neighbour round the corner is having a garden room erected. We haven’t been notified and it will affect our light and view in our very small garden. Annoying. !
Dh is not famous for his tolerance and since his TIA he can be rude, so words will be said 😬.

They are a very nice young family and I hope matters can be eased. I’ll act as a diplomat! 😉.

Today I have bowls and then will pop into M and S for some goodies as the family will be lunching here on Sunday.

Take care all 🌱

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Feb-25 08:35:54

Gingster in and out of that eye clinic in two hours is nothing short of a miracle.

GrannySomerset Thu 13-Feb-25 09:09:22

Awaiting hairdresser and then probably a supermarket trip though that could well wait a day or two. Nothing else planned though need to ask one or two neighbours in for coffee - I am getting very lazy about such things and it will be entirely my own fault if I am left isolated.

Fingers crossed for all the medical appointments as we tick off yet another grey day. I hope Taichainan’s red sky doesn’t live up to the rhyme “Red sky at night, shepherd’s delight, red sky in the morning, shepherd’s warning”.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 13-Feb-25 09:15:01

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and Alexa tells me it’s 2°C and overcast. We are meeting one of Himself’s brothers and his wife for brunch. This kind, gentle and generous man has taken us both to every blood test, scan and appointment at the Christie hospital these past 20 months. He is our wingman for sure and his support and concern has lifted me up on so many occasions. He will be taking us yet again on Monday afternoon for the next 12 week scan which is always an anxious time.

Our good friends and neighbours from along the landing came home last night. They’ve been away on holiday for weeks and I’ve missed them. Himself has been watering their plants and fortunately they’ve survived. Phew! We’ll be seeing them tomorrow evening for drinks and a catch up which I’m already looking forward to.

Stilllearning Thu 13-Feb-25 09:15:08

Morning all from South Lanarkshire, getting ready for my trip into Glasgow for good blethers with baubles it seems to be a time for chats on here, how nice.

I caught up with DGD1 yesterday, she seems to be much happier and more confident this year, I think going away from home to Uni last year was very hard for her so I was very pleased.

I hope Mizuna is well, I have missed her interesting posts recently.

Best wishes to everyone for a good day

JudyBloom Thu 13-Feb-25 09:19:46

Good Morning, have the best day you can.

Georgesgran Thu 13-Feb-25 09:22:25

Good Morning from Durham, The usual cold, grey, damp start to the day, but a sudden flash of brightness!
Laundry is in the machine and I’m meeting a friend for coffee soon and DD2 has asked me to get her a bit of shopping which I’ll get while I’m out, Then it’s home to walk her Little Dog, before I drop him off at the groomers for 2.30. I’ll take DD2’s shopping and finished laundry to her house and treat myself to coffee and a flapjack in Newcastle.
It does seem an eye day - I hope all appointments are on time and satisfactory.

Best wishes to all. X

BlueSapphire Thu 13-Feb-25 09:43:15

Good morning everyone from another dull and damp Northampton day, no change from yesterday, and likely the same tomorrow.
Slept well and woke at 9am; I am so thankful for a good night's rest which I know many people don't get.

Saw the new film 'Hard truths' at the cinema yesterday; excellent acting but so sad and disturbing; the story of a woman in a very bad place, depressed, agoraphobic, who thinks everyone is against her; badly needs help, but fights against every attempt.

A day at home today, some washing to do, clean the bathrooms, vacuum the stairs. Waitrose delivery this afternoon.
Sausage, mash and fried onions for dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 13-Feb-25 09:45:57

I really don’t feel like the early start

Oh Greyduster I’m with you on this! My NY resolution is not to arrange anything before 11am now, wherever there is a choice. So dentist, nails, optician - not happening until 11am onwards. Why rush about when we don’t have to?
#lazygran

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 13-Feb-25 10:11:10

👋 to you JudyBloom. Lovely to have you join us. Tell us a bit about yourself perhaps such as the area you live in how much your home is worth so we can get to ‘know you’ a bit and engage with you moreover time. 😁

Rainbow1235 Thu 13-Feb-25 10:52:42

Good morning to u all. Stressful morning my grandson was sobbing as didn’t want to go to school he’s been like this for a few weeks now . Teacher assured us nothing is wrong and he’s happy once there but it’s still upsetting . I’ve just been to the cemetery as we burying my mothers ashes tomorrow and I wanted to tidy and put fresh flowers on my nans grave who is not too far from where mam will be . Thoughts to all u having struggles and stresses x

Kalu Thu 13-Feb-25 11:11:10

Enjoy your catch up baubles and Stilllearning ☕️.

Beechnut Thu 13-Feb-25 11:16:22

Good morning everyone. Plenty of cloud with tiny bright patches.

I’m getting later and later getting out of my bed. Never mind I’ve been sat here looking at iPad while the washing machine is busy. Lots of dogs going by on their morning walks and there is always the two cats that live over the road to watch as they do a lot of keeping an eye on the neighbourhood trotting about.

FGT££🏠😂

Have a good day all 🦮🐈
