Good morning Michael12 and everyone!

On YouTube I've been watching Wentworth. I saw the scene in the yard where there was a massive fight amongst the women prisoners and one stabbed another repeatedly and then the bit after where one of the women was accused of stabbing a female prison officer to death even though she was already on the floor when the inmate came running in and tripped over her!

Brilliant acting from the ladies/stunt fighters!

And the Top Dog is utterly creepy too which makes the scenes even better!

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It is almost sunny today but the wind is bone chillingly cold.

This is our family’s week of birthdays with DD3 and her DD1 yesterday (DGD has reached double figures); DD1 will be 50 on Tuesday next; and DH and DGD1 will be 77 and 21 respectively. I’ve just realised that DD3 was 44 yesterday so they have all got memorable numbers (DD2 and I are out of sync being autumn birthdays and neither of us are memorable numbers now or will be this year). Youngest DGD (6) is fascinated by numbers - she was beyond excited when her mum got a printed bus timetable recently, with the bus times and a map of the routes.

Marydoll, your mouth ulcers sound so painful - I hope you find something you can eat today.
Taichinan, hope your grandson’s treatment goes well.
Gingster, love your memories of the gangsters’ pub. Mad hair day is a new one on me - it sounds fun.

I’d better get on with doing things on my list. First thing, bake some scones for a church coffee morning tomorrow. Then I can continue with selecting photos for DD’s 50th - I will do a little display to embrass her 😂

Good morning ( moaning!) from Northants.
A strange rash has a appeared on hands but Erasure are playing on the radio & I'm dancing with the Dog to one of my favourite songs.
Its called 'I love to hate you' & it's fabulous.
I'm releasing my inner gay man moves & ditto the Dog,
Strangely it comes very easily to both of us. 😎

A late good morning from South Lanarkshire, I was awake from 5am yesterday and slept till 9am this morning!

A lovely meet up with baubles yesterday and a successful purchase of smartish black trainers to boot (so to speak)
Since giving up my car I do an enormous amount of walking and the soles of my feet complain heartily so I’m afraid that comfort rather than glamour (I wish 😳) is now the order of the day.

Being picked up after lunch to visit a friend who is yet another who fell badly and has been housebound for weeks. She is inaccessible by bus so I have to wait till someone with a car is visiting her.
I do think that as we get older, living where there is access to public transport is really important.

Happy Valentines Day to all!

Morning
My optician appointment went well yesterday. My prescription has, as I expected, changed so new specs are needed. The detailed examination and scan showed two very healthy eyes !! I have been returned to two yearly appointments.
On the down side , one pair of glasses and one pair of prescription sunglasses, both varifocals, have seriously damaged my bank account.
It’s dry and cold in Co Durham so I’ve put some washing. Hopefully it will dry in the garden.
Now I’ll go back and read your posts.
Have a good day.

Taichinan Fri 14-Feb-25 09:41:20

A much later Good Morning to Mick and all after a good night's sleep. It's another grey start on the Angus coast but there's a line of brightness where the sky meets the sea.*Granny Somerset* yesterday's pink sky on the horizon wasn't a warning to shepherds after all - we had a lovely sunny afternoon. Maybe that's because there aren't all that many shepherds out at sea. 😂
I had 'one of those' conversations with a non-human yesterday. Marydoll I'm sure you would have turned it into a novella, but after 40 minutes of clicking to and fro I was so confused that I still don't know what was going on! However I did eventually speak to a real human (albeit on another continent) who solved the problem in less than a minute. She was so lovely and a credit to her misguided company that thinks disembodied robots are the way forward. I wouldn't have stuck with it that long except I was doing it on behalf of DS2 as part of a favour he was doing for me. I know, it couldn't get more convoluted!
Grandson Fraser starts his treatment for his Hairy Cell Leukaemia on Monday, having at last got the fertility clinic to actually answer their phone! Once they did the service was admirably fast and within two days his sperm was safely stored for a future child. He will have a compromised immune system for the next six months or so (and no doubt feel pretty grim for a while) but that's a small price to pay for a future. Aren't we so lucky to live today.
And talking of today, I'm off out to lunch with an old friend from our hillwalking days. We're both into our 80s now and the hills are but a memory, but we'll have a lovely time talking about our great-grandchildren!
I haven't read any posts yet - that's a treat for later in the day - but I hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day, strewn with 🌺 🌹 🍷 and 🍫 or otherwise 💕

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry, sunny but still only 2°C rising to 5°C later.

We are going to the MacMillan Centre coffee group at noon then this evening, when Himself returns from watching the Boy Wonder’s ⚽️ training, we have been invited to our friends who are neighbours (next door but two) for drinks as they’re back from their lengthy holiday. It will be good to see them and catch up. We’ve missed them and happily their plants, that Himself has been watering since Christmas, have survived!

monk08 Fri 14-Feb-25 09:19:11

Good morning all from the Black country.
A trip to the bank to transfer some money nothing else on the agenda.
Haven't seen Mizuna posting for a while do hope things are ok.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

GrannySomerset Fri 14-Feb-25 09:08:33

Plans for the morning have been abandoned as builder has texted to say he will come to deal with the leak in the kitchen some time this morning. This may well not be the answer and I will have to have work done on the roof but it is worth trying first (water getting around the window in the bedroom above). There is always something. Meanwhile another grey day beckons and I think nostalgically of Valentine’s days past. It is hard to get used to not being first with anyone.

Jaxjacky Fri 14-Feb-25 09:03:34

Morning from a slightly lighter grey S Hants, cold though.
I’m off put later with my son and fiancée to look at a possible wedding reception venue, they’ve asked for my ‘critical eye’!
Tesco delivery this afternoon, pub tonight, MrJ has a rib eye for dinner, fish for me, our flexible nod to the day ❤️

Good morning from a grey NE.
We did manage some sunshine yesterday, I was able to manage without the ' big light ' on during the day.
DD is travelling from her home in Brussels to be with her aunt in Germany, a six hour train journey so she can spend the weekend with her.
This is the first time family have been able to visit since her accident in December. Thankfully her care at home has been extended until the middle of march.
I may do some cooking today, vegetable soup would be good.
My DH used to travel to South Africa for work but told me he would not take me on holiday there as he witnessed shootings and car jackings.
Have a good day.

hollysteers Fri 14-Feb-25 08:38:02

Happy St,Valentines day from 2°C sand dunes northwest coast.
Had my roots done yesterday so can put aside the brown hair mascara and root spray. I have highlights and will need them doing again maybe next time. Small local friendly and reasonable salon, but the blow dry was nothing special. Good job I didn’t have anything special on.

Obviously it will be a very heavy post today, jamming the door😁💕 but before that, I’m off to our art group and it is scratch board. Not keen and may bring my gammy arm in as an excuse (no lymph nodes). It’s easy going so may get away with it…

The cat is delighted that I’m back to her favourite brand cat food. I had the cheapest supermarket type available and she nearly starved herself, but I held out.

Hope you all have a good day🌺

Marydoll Fri 14-Feb-25 08:33:42

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it is 2°C.
pants, your menu today sounds delicious. My meal went in the bin last night, because my mouth was so painful. I am getting slimmer by the minute.
I have done a bit of research and suspect it is caused by my biologics. Not good, as this is the third one, we have tried. I am very sensitive and have numerous allergies to some medications.

We had a joyful, but exhausting day with BabyD.at the park yesterday. It was bitterly cold, so we ended up in the cafe ( complete with a collection of dirty sticks she had picked up) run by teenagers, who have special needs.
It is dog friendly, so baby was in her element. Poor papa, saw very little of his delicious scone. We knew it was delicious , because the smacking of her lips and cries for more, confirmed it.
However, she refused to nap, her latest word is a defiant NO! and by 3pm, I had collapsed on the sofa in the conservatory, while DH took over.
Out of the corner of my eye as I dozed rested my eyes, I thought I saw someone with long hair through in lounge. I thought I must have fallen asleep and was dreaming. In fact it was Dollie and her mum, making an unexpected visit. Oh great joy!
DIL had brought lots of toys Dollie had outgrown. BabyD was screaming with excitement, when she saw Dollie and the toys I was too! 😍
DIL took one look at me and said, you are looking rather dishevelled. So would anyone, who had been climbed all over and forced, at Baby's insistence, to wear a toddler's wooly hat all day!

She hasn't been sleeping at night, so we spent the thirty minute journey home singing nursery rhymes, trying to keep her awake, so that DIL could get her down early. DIL had just taken her out the car at her home, when the wee besom fell asleep!!
Perverse, just like her gran!

I would normally take myself to Silverburn today, but I have neither the energy nor inclination. There are some laminating jobs and Dymo labels to make for church, so that won't be very taxing.

I wish you all, the best of days and best wishes for all for whom life is difficult. Rainbow, I hope your day has improved.

Gingster Fri 14-Feb-25 08:30:14

Good morning all and it’s milder here in Essex.

Youngest DGD has mad hair day at school today and wanted a cup cake theme. What fun!

I’m having a pedicure this morning and then off to meet our Friday friends for drinks. We didn’t see them last week, so lots to catch up on.

Our traditional valentines tea is smoked salmon rolls and egg gala pie. Not very ‘posh’ but we started this over 50 years ago when we’d meet for lunch in the Blind Beggar pub in Whitechapel, where Dh worked in Barclays Bank and I worked in the Hospital as a junior secretary.
It was and still is the pub for gangsters and bullet holes decorated the walls. The Kray twins were regulars.

Have a lovely day and tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.♥️.

NannyJan53 Fri 14-Feb-25 08:24:50

Good morning from another dull and cloudy Black Country.

Energetic walk yesterday through the Country park and field, and a coffee and chat at the end. Then onto Mums to take her food shopping. Two lots of roadworks lights on the journey!

I was looking at the calendar on my phone, and realised I was out last night for a u3a Skittles and Fish n Chips night. I had forgotten all about it. I knocked down 9 skittles and secured our team as highest scorer, and we each had a bag of Quality Street!

No real plans today, Valentines meal in tonight with a meal deal.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

grandMattie Fri 14-Feb-25 08:16:42

I was interested by the “hair colouring” comments.
When my hair started going grey, I did nothing. When sort of half and half, my hairdresser suggested streaking in white. There would be no obvious colour/no colour marks, I was delighted until my hair was nearly white(ish) when I stopped. No pain, no real decisions…

GrannyGravy13 Fri 14-Feb-25 08:15:18

Morning all, it is still grey in S E Essex, I need to have a strong word with myself as my mood is mirroring the weather.

Another day of doing little other than leg raises every hour, watching day time TV, reading and spending far too much time on GN.

We haven’t celebrated Valentines Day for several years, no idea what DH will be cooking this evening, as long as it involves 🍾 it will be good.

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Fri 14-Feb-25 08:09:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry, but very grey. It lifted yesterday for a little while and it was so nice to see sunshine. Sadly back to grey today. GrandMattie you have powers of endurance! I hope your eye settles down quickly. Rainbow 💐
Yesterday I sent hopefully the last of the paperwork to the Office of Public Guardian by email,so a further step along the road. I worked in the school for an hour and went to my local library for new books. The last two I had borrowed, apart from Mary Beard, were very dark so I've gone for light hearted murders this time! Simon Brett.
Today I think dd and the boys and I are going out for a late breakfast. They have a long weekend from school. Dd hasn't confirmed times yet. After that, I will go to the retail park to pick up part of dgs1's birthday present and get a gift for a new baby girl -the granddaughter of a friend. Then home to potter. Have a good day all

BlueSapphire Fri 14-Feb-25 08:05:27

Good morning everyone from another dull and damp Northampton day, but sunny spells are forecast this afternoon.

Busy day at home yesterday, got a few routine jobs done, then had a Waitrose delivery, after which I spent an hour or so enjoying the antics of Cannery Row (my book club read).

Dance classes this morning, then possibly coffee afterwards, and more reading when I get home.

Egg and Bombay potato curry for dinner tonight.

Many happy but bittersweet memories of Valentine's Days gone by - I kept the last Valentine's cards we exchanged (in 2018) and have just put them up on a shelf, and have a sweet reminder every time I look at them. Miss him so much.

JudyBloom Fri 14-Feb-25 08:05:00

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. So good to see some sunshine this morning.

Georgesgran Fri 14-Feb-25 08:04:24

Good morning from Durham. The weather is just on repeat here, but there was a flash of brightness yesterday, so I rushed to hang some laundry outside, only for it to lash down with rain barely a minute later.

Today, I have nothing planned! Unusual for me, so after I wash my hair, I could do more sorting out in the garage and I perhapd take all my half-empty paint cans to the tip. The excitement!!

Best wishes to all. X

RosieandherMaw Fri 14-Feb-25 08:02:39

Good morning from grey N Bucks.
After an amazing 7+ hours sleep I am wondering what possessed me to book my Waitrose delivery for 8-9. I could happily have had another hour!
No other excitement planned but meeting a friend for coffee who is very down in the dumps after a disappointing few days away and is also dealing with the sale of her late daughter’s house which is understandably a wrench.
Wishing you all a pleasant day ❤️

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 14-Feb-25 08:02:16

Morning all from a grey West Oxfordshire.

I have an early hair cut then I’ll collect my daughter from the station. She has been on holiday in Oman and we haven’t seen her since Christmas. This will be a flying visit as she has to be back in London by tomorrow evening. I’ll cook dinner tonight - I’ve a new recipe - marmalade pudding to try and we've booked lunch out tomorrow at our favourite restaurant.

I have coloured my hair for years and will continue to do so!

Have a good day.

Susan56 Fri 14-Feb-25 07:58:55

Good morning from Shropshire.Slightly less dull day forecast.

Good news from the eye gang.Just lulu to get a good report now🤞🏻Like corner our eye clinic is never a quick experience.

Yesterday was a relaxing day.I had forgotten about Valentines Day so quickly made a batch of Maids of Homour, DH’s favourites.Happy news that DGD won the school Values award.DD found the award and certificate in her school bag, she hadn’t told them!In DD’s words it’s a massive deal to get this award.🌟

Well after a week where I cancelled all plans and stayed at home I feel ready to rejoin the world so school pick up later and Friday sleepover.

Rainbow💐

Have a good day everyone🦩

brook2704 Fri 14-Feb-25 07:45:37

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a chilly -2° with clear skies, hopefully sunshine later
A very long day gMattie but you did it, onto the recovery now, you too kitty
I too enjoyed a bit of gardening yesterday Ekwa, couldn’t do much as the ground is frozen but I enjoyed being outside. Today I’ll be pottering about this morning doing housework and changing bedding then looking forward to meeting up with my pal this afternoon. We’ve lots of news to catch up on so we’ll be there a while, hope we can get the comfy seats!
Rainbow 💐
Enjoy your holiday ginny, it’s good to see new places even though they’re maybe not for you
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
