Good morning all from a damp Glasgow, where it is 2°C.

We had an unexpected, little, visitor yesterday, who arrived looking for her GaGa and lunch or anything vaguely edible. DS said: We realised it was lunchtime, but we knew you would be able to rustle something up for us, you always do!
It really cheered me up to see her, especially when DIL said: She is always so happy, when she is here. 😍

I am expecting a call from DD, she is getting a new bathroom installed this week. Initially, they would just come down to shower etc, now they think they will probably move in for a few days. 😱
I am in the process of tidying the wardrobes in the spare room, but I will need to put everything back, to clear the bed of clothes. I have some dresses to alter because I am seriously vertically challenged and they were all lying on the bed, because I have neither the energy, nor enthusiasm to deal with them.

Normally, I potter about church on a Monday, but I have woken with an extremely sore throat, little will be done, until the wee man with the pneumatic drill, leaves my head!

I wish you all a pleasant day, best wishes for Mr&Mrs FGT. and safe journey, Llfl,

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Birds chirrping, snow has melted though we are expecting more.
After a whirlwind family visit I shall revert to my usual quieter ways. 😴

It's the U3A snowdrop walk today but I'm not up to 4 miles yet after taking my DGC to the nearby
park!

I shall sort some books and rest. DD realised yesterday how hard it is to clear memories Baubles

I hope you have plenty of enjoyment from your summerhouse Roses

Cadiz Liberty you are lucky. It sounds so hot and exotic. Photos please.

I hope those struggling with their health have a better day.

Wishing everyone joy.

U3A monthly talk this morning - an update on the SS Great Britain following a talk we had five years ago so I am a bit earlier than usual. Otherwise laundry and admin will take precedence as we wait for a very reluctant sun to show its face.

luluaugust Mon 17-Feb-25 08:00:46

Good morning from a sunny W Kent where it is 0 degrees apparently.
Cleaner this morning and then a few e mails need answering. A walk if the sun stays out
Best wishes

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey but dry Carlisle.

Yesterday I was out early walking round the park, not many of us about, a few dog walkers and a few exercisers like me. Having polished up my halo, I went home for a second breakfast and a long phone chat with my sister. After that a lazy day of reading. We actually had glints of sun occasionally, there is still one up there somewhere!

Today I will try to get the bulk of the basic housework and laundry done and leave the rest of the week free for nicer activities. But first I must pop into town with my completed admin and do a little shopping while I'm there. I'm expecting deliveries including more snowdrops in the green, It's a tedious job getting them in the lawn but I don't regret it when I see them as they are now, nodding their little heads in the breeze. So, garden after lunch? Maybe.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, we have grey skies but no rain so far.

I ordered a new photo album which arrived yesterday so today I’ll be filling it with snaps of DH and I through the years. I’ve already filled several with photos of our children from birth to adulthood and will add a selection of the grandchildren at different ages. My intention was to have a sort of timeline of our lives, it’s been a bigger task than I bargained for though.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Liberty Mon 17-Feb-25 07:43:11

Good morning from a wonderfully sunny Cadiz where we docked about an hour ago. The Captain has just announced that we can enjoy a high of 17 later. Ideal for us who love to be warm but don’t like it too hot.

I would,if it were possible, bottle up the sun and send it your way.

Off to breakfast shortly if I can drag DH away from the cabin window as we face the entrance to the harbour and he loves the sea and all things connected. We are then off on a tour of the town which we visited over 20 years ago. What I remember most is the wonderful position of the Parador overlooking the ocean but the disappointment of the building which is modern. Most of the paradors we have seen on previous visits to Spain and some we have stayed in have been glorious palaces, old mansions etc.

Hope today is a good one for all especially those with worries or ill health.☀️

God morning everyone from a cold (-2 degrees), frosty but sunny mid Essex. I had a poor night’s sleep after a long phone chat with my toxic friend. If I’m anxious about anything, she makes it worse!
Yesterday was a brighter day than forecast, I had a walk in the morning, then did a little dusting and vacuuming with no I’ll effects.
Both DDs and families visited in the afternoon. The DDs had seen the new Bridget Jones film in the morning, thought it very good and both cried at the appropriate times!
I need to go to the local post office today, not sure if I can walk that far, or if it’s better to drive there. Decisions, decisions!
I may try to cut back the buddleja bushes later if it stays sunny and I feel like it!
fgt fingers crossed for a good result from today’s scan.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from freezing South Yorkshire under dreary skies again. We were promised a better day than we got yesterday too. I sorted out the spare bedroom for GS who is coming tomorrow for an overnight. I’m hoping we’ll get some garden jobs done. Digging will be required and I can’t dig anymore, much as I would like to. I need to go over to the garden centre this morning for a few bits and pieces. I have a planter outside my front door and last year I took all the spring bulbs out to make room for summer bedding, and stored them in the garage. This year, I can’t find them, so they are going to need to be replaced. I noticed yesterday that my delphiniums are putting out new shoots. Small signs of Spring!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy, cold Wiltshire

We stayed locally after a thoroughly enjoyable time with the family. Our meal was huge, delicious and happy. I’d forgotten how teenage lads can eat, our granddaughters boyfriend was a definite reminder. He’d not previously met our Not So Littlest who can be shy and reject people. They got on wonderfully well bonding over toy cars and Lego, a joy to see.

Our younger granddaughter is at an armed forces assessment day today. She was so anxious yesterday. We’ll know this evening how it went.

A cemetery visit after a leisurely breakfast, some snowdrops to see, a meandering journey home. No rush at all

Have the best day everyone.

Good morning everyone from a very cold (-2°C) Northampton, sunny spells expected later.

Did very little yesterday except read the papers, and watch several recorded programmes, and also watched a live rugby match on tv.
My mini gammon joint from Waitrose was delicious, with plenty left for ham, egg and chips tonight plus a ham sandwich for lunch.

Yoga this morning, then after lunch a trip to the shops to pick up my orders from M&S and Next. My new bus pass has arrived, so normal service is now resumed!

Have a good day everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 17-Feb-25 07:21:50

Morning all from a frosty West Oxfordshire.

I’m thinking of the FGTs today.

Our cleaner will be here today. Our gardener is coming too but if the ground is too hard. I’m not sure she’ll be able to do much.

I have some WI admin to sort out before I jet off tomorrow. There are magazines and other paperwork to pass onto one of the committee. Fortunately she lives just round the corner. I will also put all my flight details on the family WhatsApp group so they know where I am!

Have a good day. Spring is on the way. Honest!

Ashcombe Mon 17-Feb-25 07:19:30

Good morning from a grey and cold Torbay.

The wind was so cold yesterday and, as I’m still not walking well, I drove us to our local for a meal. People appreciated me playing the piano at church which was kind.

Today we will do a Lidl and Asda shop as DH returns to France tomorrow so it’s good for me to be stocked up!

I hope this is a good week for all, especially those with children visiting and wanting some warmer temperatures. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

kittylester Mon 17-Feb-25 07:17:31

Good morning. North Leicestershire is very chilly.

We, too, are being very quiet as the children are still asleep. Not sure what is on the agenda today - whatever it is will be exhausting .

Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Mon 17-Feb-25 07:16:27

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still very cold at -1° with a bit of snow in the forecast
We’ve DGS here, he’s still asleep and there’s no need to wake him as it’s a short school half term until Thursday this week. Yesterday we all had a lovely evening, played a few board games and he was good company. We’ll drop him off at home sometime today.
FGT hoping all goes well today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a chilly but dry Black Country.

u3a Canal group meeting today, then Line Dancing this afternoon.

Just in the middle of making chicken and vegetable soup which usually lasts until for lunch up until Thursday.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 17-Feb-25 06:21:22

Morning everyone it’s 2° here and still dark.

The GC are still asleep, so I am not making a sound.

The 10yr old and The Imp will be here just before 9am, so the house will be busy. Hopefully they will be good and I can get my legs elevated for a while 👍🏻

Sending (((hugs))) to FGT2 and DH 😘

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from s somerset, it will be bright and cheerful this afternoon

I need to do a few routine chores this morning while it is dull outside and finish packing into my car for my plot visit after lunch. This is topsy turvy for me but I want to be outside in any sunshine, no matter how weak it is

I got on with the house garden yesterday morning, very quick. Hoeing, spreading black gold from a hotbin and eventually, out of the blue, was in the mood to sort my leaking gutter. I moved storage out of the way, got my ladder off the wall and went up to see the garage gutter

I fixed it, my neighbour is in a care home and his relatives are many miles away and our garages are joined. He would have wanted me to do it. It took a lot of washing down using the strongest longest jet possible on my hose. The build up was on his side. I cleared that and re-seated the join on my side, one of the seals was out of place. I felt very satisfied but was very wet and covered in spots of black gunk

Today I want to spend just a couple of hours on the plot, doing some work on paths and will be hanging hooks in the shed. I foresee a tip run with rotten wood

Have a good day

grandMattie Mon 17-Feb-25 05:59:13

Good morning from a cold Bristol. It’s apparently 1C now, so rather chilly still. Oh, how I would like some warmth and sunshine!🌞
Sunday panned out exactly as I had thought. Just church with other people. A neighbour, lovely man, has joined our church this year. He wasn’t happy at our “proper” parish, and seems to like it here; we walked (very slowly) home together.
I haven’t spoken to DD for over a week, but don’t like to telephone as I’m never sure how I’m going to be received. It’s half term and they are going away as usual, but I haven’t been told where. So I won’t be seeing this week either.
Just WI this afternoon, a talk about the goats of the Avon valley. I’m not especially interested and am not sure I’ll go but should. If I don’t, I shan’t speak to anyone until Wednesday.
I hope you have a good week. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 17-Feb-25 05:57:51

Good morning, too dark to see what the weather is up to

Just a dog walk today, some housework to do then we are away for a few days to my favourite market town in Hampshire, close to where we lived and where I was brought up before we came up here, should get a couple of days at the beach too.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can

Bellasnana Mon 17-Feb-25 05:49:03

Good morning from Malta where it is cloudy and expected to reach 18°C.

I’m just off to look after the boys. I have to take them to nursery later as their other grandparents can’t make it today. I need to be home by 2pm as I have a new a/c unit being installed.

Had a lovely catch up with my brother in law yesterday and a trip to stay with him in Edinburgh will be on the cards later in the year.

There will be be a new great-nephew to meet by then, he is due in the next couple of weeks. I do wish my sister could have been here to enjoy being a grandmother. My niece pointed out that she has now lived two years longer without her mum than with her as she died when my niece was 16. I think she’s finding it emotional expecting her first baby and not having her mum.😞

Must dash, yard needs cleaning before I go thanks to my crazy dog.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

RosesandLilac Mon 17-Feb-25 05:48:09

Good morning Mick and followers, it’s dry and very dark here at the moment.
Yesterday I had a very satisfying day; I tidied the utility room, chucked a lot of DH’s dumped stuff in his shed or the bins, then tackled the area outside of my garden shed where the leaves accumulated- there’s a beech hedge just up the road and my garden gets swamped in beech leaves every year. I also tidied up the two racks I have outside my shed and brushed the patio.
Finally I tidied up my tiny shed, including putting more stuff that DH had dumped in there into his shed. All very pleasing one way or another.
My lovely neighbour was doing a tip run and he very kindly said he’d take the remaining stuff from having my summerhouse built, so another chore ticked off the list!
I really was somewhat tired by lunchtime!
The dog and I had a quiet walk later, I do hope we get some sunshine soon, incessant gray and dull skies are getting really boring now!
Today I hope to do a longer walk with the dog, at least rain isn’t forecast 🤞🏻
Wishing you a lovely day 🌹
