Good morning from a grey but warm midlands. Two granddaughters staying tonight. Carrot and coriander soup with french stick for tea with some homemade chocolate crunch. An afternoon of wool stash sorting. Have the best you can. 🤗

Much milder and sunny so windows are open to give the house a thorough airing. No plans though I may walk up to the village for a paper but otherwise paper, book and television will fill the day. Am much enjoying the reports from travellers near and far and hope that plans all come to pass without drama.

Good morning from a dryish and dull Oxfordshire.

Baby sitting at the moment whilst her mum and MzOops are doing something energetic in the sitting room, not sure/what it’s called, but the baby is quite happy ‘chatting’ to her toy parrot.

They will all go out later and we will have a quiet day, until they return!

Have a good day everyone.

I can hardly believe your eldest grandson is six years old today Grandmabatty! Time flies when you’re having fun. 😁

You must miss your teenage granddaughter over in Florida Bellasnana. So many early years memories. At least you might get A FaceTime call today?

And madeleine I’m sure I’m not the only one curious as to where you found your glasses yesterday Especially as you had looked ‘everywhere’ twice! Where were they hiding? 😂

Good morning Gransnetters from a mild Berkshire where I am staying with DD until Tuesday.
We had a good drive down from the northwest although the motorway was busy and it was heavy rain for most of the journey. Quiet night in las night.

Today to a NT properly new to me and my Sister will come over from London later for a meal. I have some books I have read to pass over to her.

Sorry to hear Iris needs more surgery GM and greetings to all the birthday DGC

Good morning from Shropshire where the sun is shining.

We are back home from a relaxing week at DD’s where we were pet sitting.Laundry today and then repacking the case.We have a busy week ahead and then DD’s have booked a surprise few days away with all the family to celebrate my 65th birthday next Sunday.

Happy birthday to Arabella and Grandmabatty’s DGS1.

It was DGS1’s seventh birthday while they were in Spain.I thought the hotel had made him a birthday cake but DD had taken her cake tins and made his cake!

Grandmabatty I am so pleased the gaurdianship is finally through. Its been a long road for you.

Wishing you all a good day🦩

Good morning from N Bucks where the weather forecast promises a sunny and breezy day. Can’t wait!
Thoroughly depressed to find that I have regained nearly all the weight I managed to shed between August and Christmas. sad
I suppose I had got careless and will have to take myself in hand if I am ever going to wear the summer clothes I have bagged up and put in the loft. No more hiding under voluminous jumpers and ponchos.
Six Nations Rugby this afternoon should take care of some of the day as long as I can resist snacking in front of the tv. Knitting might keep my hands occupied.
Glad to have a quiet weekend as the next two weeks I am going to be busy every day culminating in a combined (5) birthday lunch for around 20 on the 9th. Not that hard but I have 5 GC plus one D staying the night before - what could possibly go wrong?
Wishing you all a pleasant Saturday and happy weekend.

Good morning all. A respite from heavy rain, we have sunshine this morning in Glasgow for today at least. High winds will continue.

Another one tidying the linen cupboard yesterday, more bags for charity to add to the pile of bags in the garage. Charity shop visit on Monday means a ✔️ on my to do list. With better weather I can spend some time in the garden and a walk at some point.

Happy birthday to your DGD Bella. Also go to your DGS Grandmabatty The years seem to fly by don’t they? My own DGDs will be 16 and 20 this year!

Hoping a pleasant day is ahead for all.

karmalady Sat 22-Feb-25 08:33:04

Good morning from s somerset, soggy and sunny today

Up late today and I slept well. I will take today as it comes and hope to include some tidying. It rained all night so everywhere is soggy. I will try and catch up on loose ends such as filling and finishing ballast bags for the plot, to hold covers down

I have been watching `the Indian doctor` on prime, second time around and am loving it. That area was my old stomping ground for my adult years, we used to go cycling, riding and walking there and shopping in Llantrisant. Nostalgic for me

Have a good day

Good morning all. I see the weather app has decked us out here with pictures of ☀️ - what a lovely change! 7°-10° isn't bad either.
Happy 6th Birthday to your DGS1 Grandmabatty. I just bet he's excited! It's such a lovely enthusiastic age isn't it.
Nothing of interest to report from here. I have gone from a hectic social life to a very quiet period, as always seems to be the case. I enjoy both though, so not complaining!
Lovely gardener and his grandson will be here soon. I think their main task today is repairing some trellising which is heavy with clematis. I hope it doesn't mean too much pruning back of the clematis because it is so glorious when it is flowering.
The snowdrops seem to be covering a greater area this year, but only a few daffodils have flower buds showing so far. My photo memories have come up to show me that on 17th February a couple of years ago some of them were flowering! But again, in other years we had snow on that date. Funny old world.
Anyway, have a lovely day everyone, doing what you enjoy most x

Grandmabatty Sat 22-Feb-25 08:32:09

I know Bellasnana I have been on Gransnet for six years. I had just returned from Prague on a trip with my friend, now sadly deceased and visited dd in hospital because she has been induced. She didn't think she was in labour and was fairly despondent but I knew better! I was sure I would have some news before long and so it proved

Grammaretto Sat 22-Feb-25 08:30:25

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Is that sunshine I can see 🌞

I shall pick snowdrops for the café tables. I have baked a cake. Several of us volunteers are stepping up to the plate today because our gentle organiser had bad news healthwise so has gone to stay with her DD.

Otherwise, I've been invited to dinner tonight but am supposed to bring a pudding, a clafoutis which has to be made at the last minute really.

I had my flu vaccine yesterday and am more tired than usual.

Happy birthday to all the DGC!

Enjoy the rest of your holiday pantglas

Hoping for a happy weekend for all.

Grandmabatty Sat 22-Feb-25 08:28:43

I should have said that's mum's Guardianship finally granted! It's taken just under a year, as the lawyer predicted. I can't actually do anything until the certificate is issued but nearly there.

Bellasnana Sat 22-Feb-25 08:27:32

Grandmabatty what a coincidence our DGS and DGD sharing a birthday! Wishing your wee chap a lovely day.

Thanks to all for the kind wishes which I will pass on to Arabella. She will be pleasantly surprised I’m sure.

Gingster Sat 22-Feb-25 08:25:57

Take care 🌱

Good morning from a gloriously sunny Tenerife. We had a lovely day in Lanzarote yesterday and the excursion we chose went to parts of the island we hadn’t visited before. We’ve had a couple of winter sun hotel holidays in previous years and have stayed in the hotel designed by Cesar Manrique in Costa Teguise.

Today we are visiting an orchid garden for a tour and afternoon tea. We’ll spend the morning onboard and find aspot somewhere in the shade. Plenty of passengers are obviously sun worshippers from their already tanned bodies! But each to their own.

Would parcel up the sun and send it up to you if possible although family and a neighbour at home say it has warmed up there. Hope today is a good one for all.

brook2704 Sat 22-Feb-25 08:02:16

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with some blue sky
A very Happy Birthday to your DGS grandmabatty and your DGD bellas I hope they both have a lovely day
I’m hoping it stays dry and I can get some gardening done today. There’s always lots to do and the time passes quickly.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

monk08 Sat 22-Feb-25 08:02:14

Good morning all from the Black country where blue sky is visible.
Trip to the bank and will call into Tesco's family coming for dinner tomorrow so shall look for a nice dessert.
Over to our friends in Redditch this evening.
Usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.

harrigran Sat 22-Feb-25 07:58:25

Good morning from a dry NE after a wet and windy day yesterday.
DS and GD are not coming today, GD is travelling to London with her friend to see Starlight express. They are big musical fans and both appear in school productions.
Birthday greetings for Bellasnana GD.
Have a good weekend everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 22-Feb-25 07:53:05

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and dry. There are blue skies for once. Redcar I email the surgery my repeat prescription and the in house pharmacy sorts it. There's very little queuing. Bellasnana happy birthday to your dgd.
Today is dgs1's sixth birthday. Apparently he is very excited. He's having a bowling party this morning and I'm going to watch and applaud. Then I'll take his presents round later. He's going out for his birthday dinner to a restaurant of his choice. Dd has made him a sonic the hedgehog inspired cake. In between I will get the washing up to date and strip the bed. Have a good day all.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 22-Feb-25 07:50:39

Morning everyone, sorry no idea what the weather is like, curtains are still closed, DH is snoring 💤

No plans, other than to spend less time on GN and no more internet shopping 🛍️ 😹 from my reclining position on my sofa

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

luluaugust Sat 22-Feb-25 07:47:42

Good morning from a damp W Kent. Yesterday was busy with an early start for DH’s annual blood test. We then went to Boots as DH wanted a second, half price pair of reading glasses. He was told he was two days late so he couldn’t have them, I know it was his fault but I was surprised they didn’t want to do some kind of deal, fancy turning money away
Today is farm butchers, quick visit to DS and gardener chopping a tree down a bit.
Best wishes to all

madeleine45 Sat 22-Feb-25 07:46:58

Good Morning Mick and all GN's with a brighter and f(ingers crossed ) dry north yorkshire morning. A little touch of wind in the tree and if it stays like this I might venture to handwash my precious cashmere sweaters, which are treated with kid gloves . (well not actually of course! but carefully handwashed and then hung out to dry and they come in smelling of fresh air and feel beautiful)

So, joyous news. Found my glasses, hurrah hurrah , so can now read your posts without struggling and read labels etc. But it has shown me how much worse my eyes are and despite feeling very cowardly about the actual process, how much I need the operation .So perhaps it was a good thing to have lost them in the long run.

Today I am just getting ready to venture out on the yellow peril for a small amount of shopping and my Yorkshire Post. I cringe at paying £3.50 for it, but have to say I do get my moneys worth from it. I read it all from cover to cover, apart from the sports pages. There I follow the rugby and a quick look at horse racing but more interested in any horse shows, or dressage etc, but being of the waste not want not, I give those pages away. If I am in the coffee shop there are a couple of gentlemen who walk dogs and call in for a coffee and usually give one of them the pages , which they are cheered by as the sport is their only interest in the paper so we are all happy. So I read all the news, take note of anything happening in my neck of the woods, and also it has the tv and radio info in it. I get the radio times to study and work out what I plan to watch or listen to but having this as a spare is also useful. Then of course if the weather turns horrible and I am struggling time to attempt the crosswords and the sudoko etc. The only bit that always appears from another planet,or written by someone with much more money than sense, is the fashion bits. fine to show you what they say is the latest fashion, not that I care about that except to notice how my old "tank tops" are now fashionable and are called "vests", but the eyewatering prices just do not seem to have any connection with ordinary people - and especially those of us from yorkshire who like to count or pennies and want good value for money! I keep thinking that someone from Vogue or that kind of magazine has wandered in and written the article. Ah well!

The rest of the day I expect to be at home, and as I am not in too much pain today, I am cautiously planning to go through at least part of the wardrobe and do some sorting out. If I dont go out or get enthralled by the rugby or my paper, so giving myself a wide choice. We shall see what we shall see. Hope that everyone has a good day come what may and that the weather is kind to us as tomorrow it sounds as though we are back to wind and rain.
