Good morning from a dry, cold and sunny Co Durham.
Happy Birthday, Jax and Happy Anniversary, Mr&MrsCorner.
Just back from early hair appointment, ready for a family lunch at our nearby pub/restaurant. We’re only a small family, just nine of us. We celebrate my birthday, DH birthday and Mothers Day as they are all in March. First time we’ve all been together since March 2023.
Enjoy today everyone.

Good morning, Michael12 and everyone!

I made a bit of an idiot of myself this morning and it was very embarrassing!

I've got a purple sipper/straw 30 oz tumbler that I always keep filled with water. It's quite big and chunky.

On my way to the public loo this morning I was carrying it by the handle, it only had a drop of water in it and I intended to fill it up from the sink, which I did. Screwed the lid on tight, came out of the room into the Public Hall carrying it by the handle and the handle/lid came off, sending the thick metal bottle all over the floor and water everywhere! The entire bottle made a huge racket as it fell then rolled over the floor!

I quickly picked it up and refilled it but holding the bottle this time, not the handle! I obviously couldn't pick up the water and there was no cleaner around so I could borrow the mop to do it, so I just had to leave the water and let it soak in to the floor! HA!

More positive news, Blossoming!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 01-Mar-25 09:59:24

Sunny here now till noon but on checking the BBC website it’s raining most days now till 14th March. Well at least the reservoirs will be topped up this year ready for swimming pool use from Easter for any holidaymakers!

Good morning everyone, it’s a beautiful sunny and cold day here in Lancashire. The last few weeks have been filled with medical appointments of one kind or another, and it seems set to continue. Had a very productive meeting yesterday, I have a kidney scan booked in a couple of weeks time and a referral to a gastroenterologist. It will be wonderful to get to the bottom of my gut problems. My vision is stable. My Botox jab is doing its job and I have an ophthalmology appointment this coming Wednesday.

Happy Saint David’s Day 😕

Good morning everyone from a very bright and 🌞 🌞Northampton, although there is frost on my front grass and on next door's car roof.

Yesterday was equally sunny, but a chilly wind while I was at the bus stop. Had three good dance classes, tap, ballet and barre. Then a welcome coffee at the bakery over the road with a fellow dancer; I am afraid I also bored her with chat and photos of late DH! Still, she knows the feeling and need, as her DH died a couple of months after mine.

Will have a late breakfast/early lunch, and then get ready to go to rugby - perfect weather today. We are playing in a home quarterfinal this afternoon,.and it will be a well contested match.

Then tonight up to DS's for his birthday dinner; he has decided he wants to cook for everyone! I think we are having curry, and I am sure there will be lots of 🍷🍷 and 🍻🍻 !
I am staying overnight, as are DD and her DH, so will have to sort the cats out before I go.

Lots of good wishes to all those celebrating an anniversary or birthday today!🍷🎂🍾

Madeleine glad you are joining the cataract club, if you think the drops might be a problem you can buy a gadget that helps direct the drops into the eye. I don’t know how easy it is to use but just a thought.

Good morning all, and a Happy First Day of Meteorological Spring! A bit of a mouthful that - better maybe to stick with Happy St David's Day.
It's a grey start for a change on the Angus coast, but a sunny afternoon is forecast so I'll take that. I sat out beside the pond again yesterday but rather overdid it as I couldn't get warm again for ages. It must be because it was still winter yesterday 😉
Nothing very interesting to report from here. I went down to the town to the Bank and found a very flat tyre. I've put air in but have a feeling there may be a slow - or maybe not-so-slow -puncture there.
I haven't read the thread yet - that's a treat for later - so can't comment. I was up early enough but a flurry of family WhatsApps has kept me busy - what a wonderful thing that is!
So have a good day everyone, and I hope all those who are poorly have a better day today with sunshine pouring in through the windows ☀️🌼🌱🪻🌷

Gingster Sat 01-Mar-25 09:09:44

Good morning and the sun is blinding. 🌞. Still so cold though! 🥶.

Dh has been up and down all night with a cough and cold. He never gets colds, never takes a painkiller, so he’s feeling sorry for himself.🤒.

Nothing on today. Dd did mention us going to see the Bridget Jones film, but I think I’ll have a quiet day in as this week has been too busy!

I’m really looking forward to seeing Conclave as I read and enjoyed the book. It seems very topical bearing in mind the Pope being very poorly.

Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Corner. Enjoy your day.

I hope the sun shines for everyone today 🌱

Kalu Sat 01-Mar-25 08:58:09

Good morning all. Grey skies in Glasgow, possible light rain and persisting chilly wind still!

No plans for today, just take it as it comes.

The joys of getting old, not, has affected many of us on this lovely thread over the years with ailments, grief, worries and struggles of one kind or another. Much love and strength to all.

Happy birthday Jax, also your DD Bella and Happy
anniversary Corner
Why hopefully a visit will happen soon.

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good morning after a very frosty start the sun is shining here in the Black country.
Yesterday I received a text telling me to download a important letter from the hospital, not having a smart phone and unable to do it on my tablet I rang them. The lady informed me I have an appointment at the eye hospital and because they do not have any envelopes they can't send letters out hence the text. I cannot believe no envelopes.
DH had his telephone consultation he is to be put on another tablet to trial.
Friends coming later and we shall go over to the club to meet others.
Haven't read through yet will catch up later after my usual full English.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and best wishes to anyone celebrating.☀️

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
A lovely walk around the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens yesterday with my df from the North who's staying for a week or so.
We met a photographer who was watching for hairy footed bees who feast on lungwort and primroses.

But we had a bowl of soup at their overpriced café. I don't resent paying more if I think it goes towards the upkeep of the gardens which are still free, but does it?

Today I'm in a church meeting all day on Zoom.

Sorry to hear you're struggling gMattie

Have a happy St David's Day everyone.

madeleine45 Sat 01-Mar-25 08:27:25

Good Morning Mick and all GN's from a very cold frosty but bright north Yorkshire morning. Still frost on the roof despite the sun shining.

I had planned to get out very early this morning and beat all the traffic on the market, but it was so cold and freezing, that I have hung back in the hope that it will warm up a bit. It will be full thermals coat hat etc on the yellow peril today.

Another rubbish night, with hardly any sleep, and my eyes feel gritty and the brain is not in gear yet. Trying to think what I need for shopping, and there is something that last night I ran out of and needed some new today. Usually I write things down straight away but not this time, and even remembering what I cooked doesnt seem to bring it to mind.

Well, that may be because of a surprise phone call yesterday. I had a hectic time a couple of weeks ago when I had to change my bank - as the head office of the bank I was with was closing them down, much to everyones annoyance. At the same time I had to change my phone, so it was all a bit of a mess. I did try to make sure that relevant people such as the surgery had my new phone number. Luckily, I had decided to leave my old phone on, not to make calls on, but in case someone only had the old number.

So, yesterday afternoon the old phone rang. I was the other side of the room and struggling with my back, and nearly decided not to answer as it would probably be some sales person. Fortunately decided to make the effort, and surprise surprise it was the hospital who are going to do my cataracts. I have an appointment next week to have some measurements and thought oh no it is going to be cancelled , but she was offering me a date for the operation the following week as someone had to drop out for some reason.

Of course I said yes please and she said I still need to go for these measurements, where they will tell me what I need to do . I know I have to have eye drops for so many days afterwards and hope I shall be able to do them ok. Anyway I was so glad I answered the phone or I might have missed the opportunity. So I am in the mix about 75% glad to get it done and 25% in rather a funk about how it will go and how I will cope with lying flat for 30 minutes and just basically rather scared, although I know I need it. I miss my dear husband who was such a support and was a great calmer down!!

So to everyone I say "A pinch and a punch for the first day of the month and white rabbits white rabbits white rabbits." That should bring you all luck for March I hope.

I am glad you are able to set off to Bicester again today, am hoping you feel much better Mick Ladylfl, you seem to be making the most of your trip, sounds lovely from a chilly england grandMattie , you have my sympathies and hope things improve for you soon., and that you can get some help on tuesday.

May everyone had a good day today and celebrate St Davids day with something good. I shall be getting some daffodils at least. "Once more into the cold (breach)" Take care and enjoy what you can

GrannySomerset Sat 01-Mar-25 08:23:54

The fields at the back of the house are white and sparkling in the sunshine so another cold but bright morning. DD and DDiL arrived yesterday after a tiresome journey (diverted off the M6 because of a serious crash) bearing wonderful and the making of today’s lunch for eight and it was so good to see them. I foresee a very chatty day!

harrigran Sat 01-Mar-25 08:12:15

Good morning from a sunny but frosty NE.
Quiet day yesterday, only went out to bring in the bin but decided to spray the weeds on the lawns. I have never seen so many weeds grow during the winter.
GD2 is doing volunteer work this morning and going to the theatre this afternoon, her friend is in a production local to me. Another friend's father will drop her off at mine afterwards.
GD has such a busy life, yesterday she sat her grade 5 theory exam. She needed to complete that so she can sit grade 6 piano now.
Happy anniversary to Cornergran
Happy St David's day.

Liberty Sat 01-Mar-25 08:04:22

Good morning all from a sunny and frosty Suffolk. It was so pleasant to disembark the ship in Southampton yesterday in bright sunshine after a lovely holiday.

DH is about to go and collect the little dog and I shall make a start on unpacking my suitcase and laundry. We always do our own packing and unpacking. I don’t want to be responsible for forgetting anything other than my own things!

DS and GD3 are popping in briefly this morning on their way to drop her off to meet a friend who moved to Great Yarmouth some months ago. She will spend the day there and be returned home tomorrow morning I think. A food delivery later….a normal kind of Saturday which I like before a busy week starting on Monday.

Whilst on the cruise we met several people who did cruises back to back and/ or had at least 4 more cruises booked this year. Whilst I really enjoy perhaps one every 12-18 months I enjoy my life at home with family and friends but each to their own.

I hope all have a good day especially those not feeling their best.

Georgesgran Sat 01-Mar-25 07:56:50

Good Morning from Durham, no sun here and feeling chilly. Lovely day yesterday with DD1 and family to celebrate her birthday. We got the electric bus to Newcastle Quayside where it was sunny and vibrant.
I was tired by the time I got home last night.
So, today is a free day, without plans, so I can please myself whatever I do, or don’t do.

Best wishes to all. X.

Good morning after a fitful night of many dreams from Sunnyside sand dunes northwest coast. I dreamt I was singing with a full orchestra and had been given a broken music stand. Princess Anne had arrived and the concert was about to begin…

Art group yesterday and more productive on merry chat than a drawing of artistic merit. Today more decluttering and organising both music and my wardrobe.

Sorry about your eye trouble GM congratulations Jax and cornergran birthday greetings to your DD Bella and thoughts to all🌺

RosieandherMaw Sat 01-Mar-25 07:51:15

Good morning all from sunny N Bucks. The mist burned off very quickly and Spring is promising to shape up well!
Cold last night though and quite a heavy frost so I’m not going to rush into any new planting.
I saw “Conclave” last night - what a beautifully photographed and choreographed film. Every scene a gem such as one looking down on I dont know how many cardinals with white umbrellas and almost entirely monochrome and red with occasional episcopal purple from the bishops/archbishops.
Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci were terrific.
I hope this weekend brings some comfort and respite to all who may be poorly or worried- and wishing you a happy St David’s Day 🌼

Marydoll Sat 01-Mar-25 07:48:30

God morning all, its 6°C in Glasgow.

Happy St. David's Day to all our Welsh grans.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

Happy birthday to your DD, Bella, today would have been my father's birthday, 118 if he was still living. He married late in life and was often mistaken for my grandfather.

Anniversary greetings to the Corner's. 🥂

Why, why, why, I am sorry that you have been disappointed again.💐

My thoughts are will all, who are struggling.

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Redcar Sat 01-Mar-25 07:47:05

Good morning everyone from mid Esssex, it’s cold and misty but the sun is up and hopefully the mist will clear soon. Yesterday was a lovely sunny day but as I’d had several longer walks this week I decided not to go out yesterday. I pottered around indoors and cleared a few things from my ‘to-do’ list.
I’ll go for a walk today.
Yesterday was my eldest granddaughter’s 10th birthday, they were out for a meal yesterday and she has a party this afternoon. Hope to see them tomorrow.
Happy Anniversary mr and Mrs cornergran! Enjoy your weekend!
grandmattie I hope your eye problems improve today. karma enjoy your walk in the sunshine.
susan and jax I hope you have a good weekend away.
Have the best day possible everyone. Happy St. David’s Day.
