Good Morning Monday 3rd March 2025
(54 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but a dry and cold start here in brackley this morning.
Up to my usual bus trip this morning to Bicester ,shop and chat to some people I know.
My Health is OK .
Take Care,
Mick
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Sunny again in South Yorkshire. Yesterday’s curry went down a treat, and we spent the evening in the conservatory for the first time in ages. GS brought his telescope over for me as he doesn’t use it now but it needs setting up outside and it was too cold by the time the sun had gone down and the stars appeared. I will tinker with it as and when.
Today I have to go and have a new tyre put on my car prior to its MOT next week. There’s a local place that DH always used. Other than that, a day spent in the garden I think. More pruning and tidying to do.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle.
Yesterday, I went to a further off and more expensive garden centre as I thought they'd have what I was looking for, and, largely, they did. It wasn't too hard to restrain myself from buying extras I just fancied due to the prices. One foxglove plant for several pounds when for the same price I could get two packets of seeds and easily raise hundreds! I have a tray full of them waiting to be planted out now. I still spent a lot though on just my requirements.
I came home and planted some of my items out then spent most of the rest of the day reading my book.
Today, the usual round of laundry and basic housework then, hopefully, finish my book after lunch.
Best wishes to all of you struggling with whatever and hoping things improve for you all.
Have a good day everyone.

*MD*, unfortunately, the terms of the lease mean that I own the furniture and the paint on the walls, but any other thing going wrong, particularly water/electricity has to go through the management and, inevitably through about 27 different people before anything is done. They pay for the new heaters... I have no choice in the matter.
That is just apalling, that someone else makes decisions about your property. We can do what we want with our properties, obviously within building control regulations.
Thank goodness leaseholding is not very common in Scotland.
Good morning from a bright and sunny but cold day in Leamington.
My last full day here, home tomorrow.
I've loved every minute of my time here.
Eldest granddaughter is very poorly again. Her Asthma is bad, we can all hear her wheezing.
Middle granddaughter is a delight, until she is not, but we have had lots of chats. 13 is a tough age.
The youngest at 9 is just a typical 9 year old.
I love them all to pieces.
DD1 and I doing lots of sorting out today, she procrastinates and I am the voice of reason.
I hope Monday is a good day for everyone and we all see some sun xx
Good morning all and it’s another frosty one.
Yesterday got so warm that I walked the dog without a jacket.🌞.
I’m meeting Dd and DGD at the school gates with her Emerald City creation. She left it at my house as they get a bus to school and it’s rather fragile.
Meeting GG for lunch today. It will be good to see how she’s progressing ! Looking forward catching up with her.
Take care 🌱
Good morning from a frosty, bright W Kent. The cleaner will be coming this morning and then a U3A meeting this afternoon. This takes place at a local pub so a good time is had by all.
gM sorry you are struggling with your eyes, have you had them both done? I found the time between the first and second particularly difficult with regard to focusing I hope you get some help.
Best wishes
Good morning from a very frosty Black Country
Lovely walk with my friend yesterday to the Park. Then sat outside at the Cafe with the sun warming our backs. Park and cafe were very busy.
Just chopped vegetables, and the chicken is simmering ready to make soup.
Monday walk this morning, then lunch and meet my friend for Line Dancing.
I thought the same as Marydoll gM why cannot you have your own tradesmen in to fix problems?
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Morning from a frosty bright S Hants, a quieter day planned after a wonderful birthday weekend away with our family.
Washing to do and quiz tonight.
How annoying gMattie I hope getting your glasses sorted helps.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s foggy and frosty this morning but should clear to a fine sunny day again. I went for a walk yesterday, but didn’t do much else. DD2 came over in the morning, which was good.
DD1 didn’t come because her DH was running a half marathon in the morning and DGD1 was at a birthday party in the afternoon.
I have a dental appointment later this morning which won’t be much fun!
granmattie sorry that your eyes are causing problems for you, also that you’re having heating problems-a real nuisance in this chilly weather. I hope you can get them both sorted out soon.
bellasnana i*m pleased that your niece and her baby are home, hopefully no more major problems for them.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all from a dry but overcast Black country.
Yesterday was lovely and sunny spent an hour outside in my sunny spot reading and watching DH doing some work on the garage.
Today we are picking the boys up after school and dropping them home DS on video calls most of the day, we shall call in to the refurbished local for a meal on the way back.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.
Morning everyone, it’s misty, frosty and chilly here in S E Essex.
A dear GN friend is picking me up later and we are going to lunch, which I am looking forward to.
I am feeling more mobile each day, but have to still be careful not to overdo things, slowly getting there.
grandMattie how frustrating for you both your eyes and your heating.
Take care folks 🙋♀️
Good morning all from a dull Glasgow, where it is 8°C.
GM, I am confused, why do you need to go through the management team for everything, when you own the apartment? Is getting your own tradespeople out, not allowed? Things seem to work so differently south of the border.
Also, is another visit to the optician required? I hope your day gets better.
School runs for the next two days, and the guest has requested her usual Scotch pancakes, complete with all the extras. I am becoming quite smart, I prepared all the ingredients last night to save time.
I hope I don't have a disaster like yesterday's. I had cream to use up and asked DH if he would like pavlova. Of course he did.
I was just about to place it in the oven, when he said something to me. I turned round, only for the meringue to slide off the tray and spread over the newly washed kitchen floor. 🤣
I have some prep to do for Ash Wednesday, but won't be lingering at church. It is very difficult and painful to speak and I have become a hermit. DH is loving this quiet house.😉
I also forgot to order my repeat prescriptions, so will need to do that too.
Best wishes to all who are low, physically and emotionally. 💕
Have a pleasant day folks.
Good Morning Mick and all GN's on a dry and stillmonday morning, but joy oh joy there is some sign of sunrise with red sky rising up and can actually see the tree. Things are moving on!
So, a good start to the day and just had the lovely piece from the mother goose suite by ravel on the radio which rose and rose like the sunrise. Partly why I am so high this morning, but also had a bit more sleep last night and in less pain today so very grateful to start the day so well. Tomorrow I go for the tests on my eyes and fingers crossed if no problems then the following week they intend to do the operation. I am in the crazy mix, where I feel hopeful that things will go ok and I will be able to g et some of my life back and be independant again etc, but at the same time scared to be too hopeful and also until tomorrow dont know what to expect on the day itself and hope that I can look after myself after the operation, as I know have drops to do etc. There is no doubt my back will be paying me back for having to lie flat and still on the day, just hope that I can manage it , not laid flat for cant tell you how long.So a bit of a mix right now.
Mick, It is good to hear you are fine again and able to go off on your trip to Bicester. Hope you get to meet friends and have a good day.
grandMattie, I am so sorry you are having such a horrible time and hope that things improve with your eyes. Do you have someone else, maybe a social worker or someone of that ilk who could do a bit of stirring with the management, to get something done quickly about the heaters, on the grounds that you need the heat to be even at the moment ? You might get something done if there is some sort of official letter or person getting involved. Hope so.
Ladylfl it sounds as though you are having a great time. Hope your chicken curry turned out well. I had wanted to go to Macchu Picu and to Ulan Bator from a child. Have been to many other places but never managed either of those, and between age and lack of funds dont see me managing them now. Will have to be content with looking at films and pictures of them. Macchu Picu was a possibility as I had expected to move to Brazil but in the end went to Damascus instead!
So I am now trying to write out a shopping list and to get off early. Now with the operation coming up, I need to think ahead a bit and try and tidy up more so that I wont be tripping up over things. Also plan to look in my cupboards and make sure that things I use a lot are within reach and not veery low or high in the kitchen. Also going to check through bills and stuff and make sure that I am up to date with things, as dont know how well I will be able to see straight after the op and dont want to attempt to pay bills or whatever when I cant see well. I plan to go back to the old days and have cash for everything just at the beginning.
Just been listening to wonderful Bach and the sky is even more bright and colourful. A lovely start to my day and so time for my best coffee of the day and then get well wrapped up as it still looks cold outside and off on the yellow peril to face the shops and get round to getting a jacket for the hot tank too. Cant afford for the heat to be dissapated and when the bathroom was wrecked the old cover had to be thrown out. so onwards and upwards folks. Have the best day you can
Good morning from s somerset, lots of sun today but we need it after the overnight -3 degrees.
Yesterday was very positive, satisfying, I was drawn out
side and cycled uphill to my plot, definitely not easy but I am hoping it is the start of my losing weight accumulated over winter. I finished sorting the pullout larder, went to the plot, did a bit of work and was back home by 9. Something to be said for my getting up early
I didn`t do much for the rest of the day, sorted and labelled garden nets at home, spinning and so on
Today is craft group and I need to get stitches on my needles so I have something to take, I won`t be doing much but the chat is cheery and it is lovely to make contact with these women, a few are over 90 and they are so inspiring
This morning is pottering, this n that, whatever I am drawn to doing
Have a good day
Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.
DH is off to the gym and I need to change the bed and do a few loads of washing.
This afternoon, we start a new Carer Learning course in Melton Mowbray.
Have best day possible everyone
Good morning everyone from a dark and dry start to the day here on the east coast of Fife just a little cold. I’m staying at home today as I was at church yesterday, I’ve used up all my social hrs.
I’ll probably get out on Wednesday with my 2 social hrs the carer is very good with me I like her a lot and as well as going to church we came home and made macaroni cheese - one of my favourites
I can make a roux from scratch just a little butter, flour, milk a touch of mustard and Bobs your uncle, Fannies your aunt
Bellasnana I’m so pleased to hear baby and mother are doing well, why don’t you get you’re passport on line it’s really so very easy , if I can do it so can you.
Have a good day my friends don’t worry too much today will take care of itself 💐💐
Good Morning from Durham. Cloudy, dry with a high of 12 forecast. Spring at last!
Usual coffee with a friend this morning. We daren’t book any holidays as she’s awaiting cataract surgery. Her preliminary appointment is 17/3, so we’ll have a better idea after that.
The 2nd anniversary of losing my dear friend. She swore too much, drank too much, smoked too much and I miss her terribly.
I must crack on with my list of jobs, so today is contact chimney sweep, get an estimate for the shed roof and confirm house roof quotation, which is eye-watering but consistent with the others. It’s a messy job.
Best wishes to all. X
Good morning from frosty south Glos, another sunny day ahead 👏
Oh dear grandMattie , how frustrating and unsettling that sounds with your eyes and having eccentric heating 🤗
Yesterday I was up by 6.30, I’d sorted out two bags of things for the charity collection on Wednesday, dusted and tidied through the house (DH vacuumed 😄), changed the bed and hung the washing out by 9.30 when I went outside a very happily pootled around the garden for a couple of hours.
I’m going to do a bit each day, tidying up, the soil is absolutely saturated though so minimal digging at the moment. It’s joyful seeing the shrubs in bud, various bulbs growing strongly and feeling the sun on your face - still a very chilly breeze though.
The washing dried beautifully.
Then late afternoon a leisurely dog walk as the sun was setting so a lovely day all round.
Yesterday DD video called, she fosters animals for a local charity in Wales, including a delightful little dog that I’m very interested in adopting so fingers crossed!
Today a long dog walk this morning first thing then more gardening and enjoying the sunshine.
I hope you all have a lovely day 🌹
Morning Mick, morning All. It’s -1 out there, a frosty start for our corner of Somerset.
An excellent lunch yesterday, a wander and two washer loads dry in the sun. Today I iron once we’re gone from the computer wizard. Mr C has blood letting first, we’ll shop for vegetables afterwards. I also need to leave a ‘help’ message regarding our front door which is again very difficult to close. I can’t do it at all, Mr C can -:just.
Two problems you could do without grandmattie, what a pain.
Hope Monday is kind to us all.
Good morning Mick and all from another dry day in North Wales - another load of washing will be sorted with the sun 🌞 that’s promised!
I’m joining you in the sewing room this morning grandMattie - a white sarong covered in silver hieroglyphics will be magicked 🪄into a window dressing for my Egyptian themed shower room…Mr PG has doubts, as usual, then takes credit when visitors compliment us on our exotic tastes!🤨
I do like a museum LLFL- almost doesn’t matter what’s in there, I just enjoy looking at new old stuff…IYSWIM!
Have a good day if you can 🤗
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and damp. GrandMattie how annoying for you on both the heaters and the glasses. Ladyleftfieldlover I would have thought the restaurant could have sent someone to the nearest shop for milk!
Yesterday I enjoyed my time with dgs2 until he was picked up. He wrote a card for his mummy's birthday and made kisses beautifully. Later I visited mum and she managed a little conversation. She's still not eating but I persuaded her to drink a little juice. I made a lemon drizzle cake to take to the school today.
Today is early childcare day. After drop off, I'll work a couple of hours in the school library then home to chill for a bit before I pick them up again. Have a good day all
Hello from Sydney. Another warm day.
My sister in law took me to the Australian Museum today in the city. There is an exhibition on Machu Pichu which we saw as my Christmas present. She actually went to the real thing a few years ago. A very good exhibition.
We had lunch in an Italian restaurant. Delicious but no coffee as they had run out of milk.
I’m now back at my sister’s place. Chicken curry for dinner.
Have a good day.
