Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8°, wet and windy. I think that's the forecast for the day. Marydoll 💐. Rosesandlilac fingers crossed for your adoption application. I hope Sar is alright after her fall.
Yesterday was fine. Dgs2 woke grumpy and was difficult both before and after school. I managed him but it was tiring. No tantrums though, so that's a blessing. I had bought a bed for dgs2 and stipulated no delivery at the school run time. Of course, two minutes before I was due to head off, the can arrived. Fortunately they were happy to build the bed and lock up if I wasn't back and that's what happened. I think I have erred though. Two beds in the room are very tight. I'm having to squeeze in the door and opening the blinds this morning required flexibility I just don't have! Dgs1 isn't happy as he doesn't like sharing a room with his brother. However it's only for the rare occasions I have both of them overnight. I've started to give them a pound pocket money on a Tuesday if they tidy up etc. Dgs2 dropped his pound getting into the car and I could not find it anywhere. He was so upset. His dad gave him a pound and he was happy and then I eventually found it in the drive when I returned home. Cataract eyes aren't as sharp!
Today I have things I could do this morning, but I'm going to be lazy. I'll work in the school library this afternoon. I'll probably make a chicken and chorizo dish for dinner with gnocchi. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a sunny day on the Essex coast.
I arrived home just before two yesterday after a long but uneventful journey.
I have some large bruises and scrapes but luckily nothing more serious. Thank you all for your concern.
I have a lot of admin to get through today. I do the accounts for our Yacht club and it all mounts up when I am not here.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, perfect for the pancake race and the town was very busy.
At flower club we made some very pretty small spring arrangements. Pity We can’t post photos.
Some ironing to finish this morning and a cake to make. Craft club this afternoon and WI this evening.

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞Northampton day. Perfect weather for DS to put my new washing line up in the garden, just in time for the good drying outside season! I have only been waiting since November...... Better make sure I've got chocolate biscuits and coffee ready.

No other plans for today, so will just sit about and read; I have quite a few magazines to catch up with.

Didn't do a lot yesterday either; cleaned the big walk-in shower, then made pancake batter, had an early lunch and then off out to meet up with the walking group. Lovely weather and walked for a pleasant hour (two and three quarter miles and over 7000 steps). Declined the lovely home-made lemon drizzle cake afterwards, was saving myself for pancakes!

Made the pancakes with the batter I had made earlier; had two with lemon and sugar, one with golden syrup - yummy. Will make more today with the rest of the batter.

Good morning Mick and all from grey Carlisle.
I was falling asleep in front of the television yesterday evening so I went to bed a tad earlier though I knew it wasn't a good idea, and it wasn't. I don't sleep longer, I just wake up earlier, in this case, 4.30 am. Even putting the radio on didn't make me doze of as usually happens, the news just sent my blood pressure up, so it was up for a refreshing shower.

Yesterday...the usual chores and some admin. The gas engineer handily turned up just as I finished lunch. He has turned down the heating and water temperatures on the boiler, which I approve of, my hot water especially can get very hot. We discussed heat pumps (I don't want one!) and he is already training for them. Apparently the developer of my home is already installing them into new properties but we thought the date for having to have one in an older property will be put back.
After he had gone I went out and put a couple of my new plants in the garden. That doesn't sound like a big job but it involved digging out heavy clay and replacing it with better soil. I excavated quite a bit last autumn and left it on the surface and found it has broken down nicely due to the heavy frosts we have had. I am limited as to what I can plant in this very clayey area, there have been failures of usually accommodating plants. What isn't failing are all the crocuses I have dug into the front lawn over the years, there is a great display this year so they at least are obviously happy.

Today, I have admin and phone calls to do, this is one of my expensive months for household bills. Later, a walk? Otherwise, I'll catch up on my reading.

I can't imagine how horrible those mouth ulcers must be Marydoll. How can they not be sorted for you?!

We had some sad news yesterday from my brother saying his wife had died. They live in Mexico and as the funerals there take place so quickly we can’t attend that but there’s going to be a memorial service sometime soon so will try to get to that. She was a lovely lady and died far too young at just 60, I’ll miss her smile
Today I’m off to the gym for a couple of classes and then I’ll walk back into town for a bit of shopping. Well done GG13 in getting to the gym even though it’s so difficult, I admire your determination!

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a chilly and rather grey wednesday morning here in north yorkshire.

I am feeling rather battered and bruised from yesterday, and am only revived by coffee , wonderful Bach and now the lovely Calm seas from Cosi Fan Tutti. i was very stressed about going to the hospital and the driver wasnt exactly late, but I was clock watching and getting even more tense before he arrived. Anyway got there in time in the end, and then in for various tests, with of course flashing lights etc from the machines but the most painful was that you have to lean with your chin on a specific spot and it means that my back is in the most painful position at an angle, but the machines are not set up for people with bad backs so you just have to grin and bear it. Anyway finally did all that was required and creaked my way to the reception to wait for my driver, who fortunately for me was just coming in to see how things were going and so I did not have to sit down and then stand up etc so we were off and I was grateful to get home. Glad I had remembered to take my sunglasses with me. With having drops in your eyes it can be quite painful to be out in bright sun and they dont always suggest you have them with you.

Well glad to get that bit over, but absolutely shattered and just had to struggle through the day, as my back and knees were registering their protest at the goings on. Was so weary that for the first time in I dont know how long, made no pancakes. However I did rouse myself and make the effort to go to the games night , and it was worth the effort, as trying to understand complicated rules and work out sequences stopped my brain going round and round about the eye situation. Waiting for confirmation after these tests today but had the letter for the operation day next tuesday all being well. Somewhat disconcerting, thought they had said to be there for 9am but it is for 8am and says they expect it to be day surgery but to bring dressing gown in case they deem it necessary to keep you in for the night.

So today it is take it easy physically, not much choice on that front. Everywhere I look now there are jobs waiting for my attention and rather complicated letters to read through, as I have changed things round at the bank and need to be sure to read all their heretofors and in the first inst , stuff before I sign my life away!! Hoping that I shall feel a bit less weary later on and if the sun deigns to visit, I shall go for a little walk round in the garden, but not up to doing any weeding or much else. If the weather doesnt improve I shall do some of the necessary reading but more likely will wrap a blanket round me and sit and read my book and just be glad to be home and recover.

Marydoll so sorry you are having such a hard time and hope you got through to the surgery and they can help you a bit.
Bellasnana it was good tor read that you had been shopping a little. You must be feeling a little more like yourself to be able to buy things, so hope you continue to feel better
Sar, hope you are continuing to feel a bit better and no doubt the bruises will give you quite a varied shade of colours too!!

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and frosty again, although the garden thermometer says it’s marginally less cold than yesterday. Yesterday I walked to the post office, about half a mile each way. I used the rollator but was still tired when I got back. I’m aiming for another walk today, using the walking sticks. I did a little more gardening in the early afternoon and will carry on with that today.
madeleine I hope your hospital appointment went well yesterday and hope that some of your anxieties about your operation were answered.
gm i hope the pancakes go down well at the FAB cafe! I hope your eyes improve soon.

Early start I'm at playgroup once again one of the permanent helpers is in New Zealand, I'm not permanent just cover occasionally to help the DiL mainly stay in the kitchen preparing the drinks and snacks.
Ironing to do when I get back, then perhaps some time in the garden.

Good morning all, 8°C here in Glasgow.

A very busy day yesterday, pancakes made for Dollie's breakfast, two school runs and new glasses picked up. I made salmon fish cakes for dinner today and rhubarb sponge for DH. I was on my knees by evening.

Today, the scaffolding for our roof repairs is being erected, I have a hairdresser's appointment and am duty sacristan tonight for the Ash Wednesday service.
My medication is finished, but my mouth is covered in even more excruciatingly, painful lesions. I could weep, and I have I cannot find any relief. This is worse than any RA pain and that can be pretty dad.
Not holding out much hope, I shall try and get through to the surgery at 8am to speak to a GP.

I need to get up to move my car, before the scaffolders arrive, so I shall wish you all a pleasant day and ill offer prayers for all, who are struggling.

Good morning all from a light and dry north Wales where I’ve sat out in the garden to enjoy my first outdoor chamberpot ☕️ this year! How marvellous to have a different perspective while I ponder 🤔

Another busy day ahead with shopping in Lidl and brunch out before popping in to see Dad (who is gallivanting off to Goa again tomorrow…did you wonder where I got my wanderlust from🤣).

Our cleaner will active at 9 and DH is off to the gym. I have a hair appointment and then some shopping.

DGS3 has the first of 3 interviews this week for degree apprenticeships. He has opted not to go to university but the process is quite time consuming compared to UCAS. His school has been consulting him on how to help future students with the process.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sky is blood red with the rising sun. It’s a chilly three degrees outside at the moment. I got my tyre changed yesterday - when I eventually found the place. The entrance to their workshop was very narrow and I feared for my wing mirrors, but they were kind enough to reverse it out for me without being asked.
I have an early doctors appointment this morning, and I must talk to the man who does my garden sometime today to arrange for some work to be done. If I don’t book him now I may not get him at all.
Writers group at the library this afternoon.

Morning Mick, morning All. From what I can see it’s both misty and frosty out there. Our corner of Somerset had mist until well after 10 yesterday

Chores completed the afternoon saw us heading for a short beach walk and a long sit in a cafe. I’m easily exhausted at the moment.

Snap roses, I’ve also been awake since 3. Not sure my planned admin morning will keep me awake. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow. With luck some enjoyable garden tidying this afternoon.

We always try for enough time pre Heart Institute and Eye Hospital to refresh in the Wellesley cafe grandmattie. Our reward for smiling through a 90 minute (tedious!) journey. We found the cafe by accident a few years ago, such a friendly, restful place.

Pleasantly busy yesterday and everything that needed fertilising in the garden has been done. Soup made from squash, which was very difficult to cut into and I have half left in the fridge. Soup maker makes soup so easy

I finally got around to culling my cookery books, I had too many with complicated ingredients and procedures, these days I am all about simple and not catering for many

Lots of shredding of catalogues and old books, food for my compost and the worms in my hot bins. I am in process of lots more shredding to take to the plot. I am glad that catalogues now use compostable paper

Deliveries are expected today and I will tidy my gardening books, maybe oil the wood under my big butchers block, it has a stainless steel top. I also want to dismantle the rebounder standing in my hall, back to the garage it goes, until next autumn

Good morning from a dry Bristol. It will be a lot milder today. It was weird yesterday; when I went out for the paper at 7am it was clear. By 8am, I couldn’t see the other side of the road. Cleared by 10ish.
I spent the morning making pancakes. It was the first time I had Bristol and couldn’t get the pan temperature right. It finally worked out and got a great pile of them.
I shall take them to FAB cafe this morning, with sugar, lemon, cinnamon and chocolate spread.
Yes, I know that on Ash Wednesday one should start one’s Lenten fasting, but I suspect that a lot don’t/can’t be bothered.
I went for my eye appointment. The outpatient department was chockablock, with no seats and at least 28 people waiting. I messaged DD suggesting that I should shock everyone by sitting on the floor…😁. I found a seat. The queue slowly reduced and I discovered that most people had come with someone, so there actually were fewer patients.
I was eventually seen, with many apologies for the delay due to being short staffed (and short of equipment, which needed finding or borrowing from another room).
Once done - just a checkup re. steroid eye drops - I went into the town centre for a cup of tea and revitalising toasted tea cake in the lovely quiet Wellesley church cafe, thence on to DD’s, stopping for some daffodils for her. I had been invited to a pancake and pancake dinner. (Chinese and crepes, for those interested).
Today, morning prayers and FAB cafe. Footling and nap in the afternoon.

Good morning all it’s been a very windy night last night here on the east coast of Fife. I think I’ll stay at home today and catch up with my paperwork which is in a real mess, yesterday I rested because I’ve still got the lurgy after my holiday in the warm sunshine and I’m taking lemsip capsules and throat lozenges

Yesterday was a better day. Walked the long way round to the village as I needed to go to the pharmacy, stopped for a coffee then DD3 picked me up, we dropped the boys at nursery, then went to buy a gift for a relative who will be visiting this weekend from the UK and will be celebrating her birthday.

I also bought some new jeans, a couple of tops and a pair of cotton pjs which are presentable enough to sit around in.

Sar that was a nasty fall you had, I do hope you are ok. It’s such an awful feeling and the shock of it often hits later.💐

I’m off to look after my treasures in a minute, and later I have a painter coming to give me a quote for painting the front of my place as it’s looking very shabby indeed.

Good morning! It’s another very frosty start here in south Glos and I’ve been awake since 3 for no reason whatsoever 🙄
Isn’t the glorious sunshine wonderful? I did another couple of hours pootling in the garden yesterday, it was warm in the sunshine, then sat and read in the summerhouse for an hour or so.
I have submitted my adoption form for the little dog, not being tech savvy it took me several attempts 🙄. We will see what happens, obviously she needs to go to the best home possible and that might not be here.
Today an early dog walk as the sun rises, a wonderful time of the day. I enjoy being out early when it’s peaceful.
Besides that I don’t have anything planned except getting outside and bumbling around enjoying the garden.

Hello again from a warm and humid Sydney.

A quiet day today. Washing, ironing, ordering one or two things from the Seasalt sale and a bra from Miss Mary of Sweden. I also listened to a Rest is Politics podcast by Alistair Campbell and Rory Stewart about Ukraine. Interesting and depressing.
