Wetherspoons its Rugby weekend 8th/9th March

No, I don't have any financial interest in Wetherspoons
I enjoy the cheap drinks and the meals generally arriving within ten minutes. I don't want to go to a restaurant which takes three times as long to prepare the same type of meal
and nearly double the price of what Wetherspoons charge.
I also don't want to have another persons dog looking at me with that forlorn look of "feed me"
I find it surprising that some one decides to resurrect a posting from events of the 8th/9th March, when I should have mentioned that it was wall to wall International rugby on Saturday 15th March at Wetherspoons.
So here are the times to avoid Wetherspoons if you don't want to watch football this coming weekend.
Thursday 20 March 19:45pm Greece v Scotland BBC2 Scotland only
Friday 21 March 19:45pm England v Albania ITV
Saturday 22 March 19:45pm Wales v Kazakstan S4C in Wales

Good grief, who fmgot annoyed apart from Baggs?

rafichagran Tue 18-Mar-25 18:21:07

I agree with you Baggs I find it peculiar that posters get annoyed about things that are inoffensive, so long as posts are not racist, misogynistic, ablist, and anything else I missed just ignore if you are not interested.

More a ‘class’ thing I think.

ixion Tue 18-Mar-25 17:55:43

No, late 60s/early 70s🤔.
Was sweet a regional usage or 'of its time'?

OldFrill Tue 18-Mar-25 17:30:53

Surprised @ sweet. Was it the 1950s?

ixion Tue 18-Mar-25 17:18:29

Ah, Baggs (off piste for a bit).
So you has a plural form yous in dialectic form?

I often wondered about this.
Many years ago, we had an evening meal in a restaurant in Glasgow.
Clearly, it was getting to the end of service and the somewhat hostile young waitress came to our table.

With an audible sigh, she barked
Do yous want sweet?.
😂

From one of Infoman's previous responses they are given the sports info so anyone that wants a quiet pint or meal can avoid Wetherspoons as the once sports free hostelries are showing sport (well some of them).
I get the impression they don't approve, but could be the opposite.

Not that I don’t appreciate the gesture but I find Wetherspoons quite easy enough to avoid hmm

Why do you find it difficult to 'avoid' (i.e. ignore) infoman's posts about Spoons? So many rude posts on these threads! Why?

Just let it pass yous (just making my you plural obvious as Scots local to me do) by if you're not interested same as I'm sure yous do other threads.

The response to these is really quite peculiar.

I'd assumed Rosie's maw was American. Not that I'd given it much thought. I think, Baggs, you should stick to typing as you speak as mimicry can seem rude and patronising. If ye ken fit a mean hen.

Thank goodness the pubs round here aren’t like the ones near you OldFrill. The attraction is food, not tv.

Pub food tends to be pinged or fried here, some decent restaurants fortunately

Barleyfields Tue 18-Mar-25 16:47:18

Priorities - and he imagines that the rest of us are similarly interested in them. I don’t know why that is,

Barleyfields Tue 18-Mar-25 16:45:34

Clearly Wetherspoons is very high on infoman’s list of pr

RosieandherMaw Tue 18-Mar-25 16:37:05

Rude?

You ain’t seen rude here.

Every pub near me, there's around 7 or 8, have TVs including Wetherspoons. They don't all offer sport but most have screens which are on, maybe not the sound, all the time.

Barleyfields Tue 18-Mar-25 11:57:32

Other sports-free hostelries are available. No pub near me has a tv. I’ve never been to a Wetherspoons. Infoman seems to be obsessed with them.

NotSpaghetti Tue 18-Mar-25 11:43:05

Oh. That's interesting - but in that case not just Wetherspoons then...?

I was just curious regarding your relationship with the Wetherspoons company as you posted three threads about them. Are you?

I don't think it's boring.

infoman Tue 18-Mar-25 03:57:55

boring? maybe,
but I don't stop any one posting their information.

RosieandherMaw Sun 16-Mar-25 23:50:06

Give it a rest infoman
Some of us enjoy sport, some of us don’t
Some of us don’t go to Wetherspoons, you presumably do.
Getting boring now. .
