Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start this morning in brackley.
Yesterday , I caught the bus to Bicester , did my shop ,got some cash and because of cycling on TV returned home on the same bus , which even surprised the driver.
Today an easy day at home , a mix of TV and housework .
Health OK
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very grey and mistly morning in North Yorkshire. Hardly a breath of wind and the mist does not look as though it will be moving any time soon

Been awake for hours and enjoyed reading everyones posts, but been really struggling up until now, with aches and pains and my wretched hands were really painful, so have only just got round to typing - which should give them some good exercise now. I have a box with compartments for a weeks tablets, which I refill every sunday. This makes sure that I dont either take too many or miss medication, as now have no husband to remind me etc. It can always be fiddly and have one very small tablet I have difficulty in pickingup anyway, but today frustration level high as couldnt even get any of the flipping things to come out of the various foil containers, and had to resort to a kitchen knife to open a couple of them!!

Anyway yesterday was very glad to have the rugby to watch and of course it allowed me to sing anthems and shout and clap and generally make quite a bit of noise. There was method in my madness as the neighbours will now just think I am a rugby nut and wont realize that actually it also allowed me to let out some of the tension and stress I feel as tuesday looms nearer!! There was some really good moves and although I may want a particular team to win, I do enjoy watching anyone making a good move and all the clever passing and jinxing are really good. Ah gone are the days of being at Twickenham but hurray for the box, it does allow me to still join in with the fun.

So it was sunny and lovely yesterday, and didnt do a great deal, but now with the poor weather and being very creaky, it will be a slow and steady plod through this morning, doing basic housework, checking I have put things on the right shelf to reach after tuesday, and hopefully will get a casserole made up so that on tuesday I shall have that ready to come back to and do a jacket potato, which will be simple and also a "comfort" food. Have always enjoyed good jacket potatoes and think they taste quite different to any other way we cook potatoes. I also have to finish off my list of stuff to order from Tesco to deliver. Find it a frustrating job, probably as I dont tend to use it much and find it very slow to look through. I expect if I knew more what I was doing I could save stuff for the next time or whatever. Anyway doesnt matter. So long as I get them to bring me enough stuff to have available whilst I cant carry heavy stuff.

So I shall accompany my day with my great sunday radio programmes like DID and Private passions and GQt which will I hope be soothing and keep my mind occupied. Have a couple of crosswords to look at and the chess set to give me something else to think of.

Bonnybanko, so sorry you are having such a sad time. I dont know how to send little pictures but would also join in with the flowers if I could.
Ladylov Glad you have arrived home safely and can just rest up now and catch up with all the things here

I enjoy hearing about your garden and all your doings. Cant do much myself these days, but it feels odd to me not to be busy planting seeds up and stuff in the garden. I hope after this week to at least plant some sweet peas. Cant imagine not having at least some sweet peas in the garden. They along with runner beans and peas were some of my must have plants. My grandad always used to grow rows of peas and runner beans and have sweet peas at the end. He said they encouraged the pollinators to come so they are always grouped together in my mind,

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can and enjoy it

Good morning everyone from another sunny 🌞 Northampton day. Yesterday was glorious here, and I had a little inspection of the garden which made.me feel quite downhearted as it looked very bare and sparse, with several things looking tired and in need of care. I don't know what to do to improve things.

May sit out in a sheltered spot this morning with a coffee and the papers, and bring the cats out with me; they are house cats, but absolutely fine in the garden if supervised.

The England rugby match this afternoon and shall be watching our five fine Saints boys playing their hearts out.

Maw, I hope.you have recovered by Tuesday!

Hope all have a pleasant day.

A rather late Good morning from bright N. Bucks.
SIL and DGS2 )(9) are off to Twickenham for the rugby today, DGS is so excited.
We are picking up DD3 and 3 year year old DGS3. in a while. Not sure where we are going but making the most of the good weather.
Last night whilst baby sitting , I taught little one a new song and he decided to
that we should surprise Mummy today with a performance.

Good morning Mick and all from a lovely morning in Cheshire. The sky is blue, but with some very pretty cirrus clouds from the north making sweeping patterns across the sky.

Reading of the busy bees on this thread makes me feel quite lazy by comparison! However, yesterday I got two lines of washing dry, aired and put away. I scrubbed and cleaned the patio and balcony outside my bedroom. The wood will need sealant after the winter frosts.

My food order for Friday is arriving this afternoon! There was a text about problems at the hub. It wasn't a huge problem for me, but I wondered how some people would manage.

I noticed the wren in my garden earlier and blue tits bobbing in and out of the air vent in my neighbour's wall, busily nesting. She knows, as they return there each year.

Sorry to read of illness and sad days for some today.
Bonny flowers Hope everyone has some sunshine to brighten your day.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Quite a mist today though I think the sun is about to break through.

Photos are coming in from DGS birthday party in NZ. He's a teenager and was having a murder mystery party.

I'm going to a party later. It's a couple I've known for the 45 years I've lived here who share a birthday.

Enjoy the time with the grandchildren Rosiesmaw

Sorry to hear your sad news Bonnybanko

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Good morning all, its 1°C and foggy here in Glasgow.

I can't believe how mild it was yesterday, for the first time in ages, I was walking around church in a jumper. Ironically, on seeing how svelte ( in comparison to my former cuddly self) I had become, parishioners were telling me how well I looked. I actually felt hellish! 🤣
Why is the cure often as bad as the illness?

Bonny sad news for you.💐

Rosies, how joyful for you! 🥰

Despite my good intentions for a quiet day day yesterday, it did not happen. DD and SIL popped in on their way back from Oban. I haven't seen DD for ages, due to her being away, but she was not in the best of moods. SIL has sleep apnoea and forgot his breathing machine. She got little sleep all week!
On smelling the soup, she hinted that they had no food in the house, and could she have some. I said it wasn't ready, she took it anyway to finish off at home!

I totally forgot about updating the parish website yesterday and will need to do it ASAP. I erroneously thought no-one read it, but soon discovered they did. On the day of the church ceilings coming down, and I was otherwise occupied, people were complaining that there was no bulletin on the website. I informed them, that one cannot exactly work on a website, while paddling in pools of water, bucket, mop and towels in hand. 😉

I would love to potter in the garden today, but due to the scaffolding surrounding the house, everything has been piled up wherever there is a space. It is an absolute mess. 😪
Sure as fate, as soon as the scaffolding comes down, we will have rain.

Wishing you all a happy Sunday and best wishes to all, who are struggling, a special mention to those, who read daily, don't post, but have mountains to climb.

Blossoming and Sar, I hope those bruises are healing and GG, I hope you are on the mend.*Baubles*, your DH probably has the same strain of man 'flu, Mr MD seems to catch. 😉

Morning, we have high cloud in S Hants, but it’s bright.
Sad times Bonny 🌹
Lovely day yesterday, garden and greenhouse pottering, but I’m aware we could have frost later this week so am resisting too much sowing.
I’ve jeans to return later, a farm shop visit, floors and clothes to wash, meat draw at 5 and chicken for dinner.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk, every morning like this since we got home 8 days ago.

Yesterday was busy at the seaside with several children crabbing from Wally’s bridge. Wally,a dear friend of ours who sadly died several years ago, started the annual crabbing competition and entrants got a jar of Shippam’s crab paste. Although it was a local tradition for the first few years,I understand that nowadays people come from far and wide to participate.

I think we may go to a local common with the dog where the dog friendly cafe has excellent coffee and cake. I hope all enjoy today however you plan to spend it.

Good morning from what looks to be a fine day in Wiltshire.

DGD1 had a good day yesterday looking round Bristol University. She and her parents came for dinner (cottage pie) on their way back home to Berkshire. So lovely to see them as we hadn’t since the end of December.

I’m annoyed on your behalf at events regarding your mother Grandmabatty. Unbelievable. I hope you managed to get hold of someone else to speak with yesterday.

Bonnybanko 💐

Chicken cacciatore (courtesy of the freezer) for dinner tonight. Have a good Sunday everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset.

All admin bits completed including passport renewals, old passports packed and will be collected tomorrow. I felt really flat, exhausted and no enthusiasm for anything. Mr C’s self preservation tactic was to drive us to a country garden centre where the displays of spring flowers brought a smile, as did excellent tea and cake. A ready planted trough came back with us to brighten a spring flower free corner.

Sausage roll baking today and a roast chicken meal later. Maybe a walk along the river if energy allows

Very sad news bonnybanko. Such fun and what a treat to be all together maw. Good luck! Welcome home ladylfl. Patience definitely needed baubles, hope yours holds out.

Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannySomerset Sun 09-Mar-25 08:16:21

After a delightful lunch out yesterday today is quieter, though with an evensong at 3.30 pm which I really like. Must make the most of the mild weather as the forecast suggests we will be back to winter again this week, so some gentle weeding is on the cards too.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 09-Mar-25 08:15:03

Very sad news about your sister in law Bonnybanko. Such a busy household today Maw hope you all have a wonderful get-together. I can just imagine the noise levels but the fun too!

And yet the opposite side of the coin for you Bellasnana which sounds a trial for you today, sadly. 💐

harrigran Sun 09-Mar-25 08:12:19

Good morning from a foggy NE.
Yesterday was clear, dry and sunny and milder.
DS and GD came and I made cottage pie for dinner served with several vegetables, no wine on a Saturday.
After dinner GD played the piano, a lovely mixture of exam pieces and some favourite classics.
DS played the banjo, completely different music but just as enjoyable. All evening DS's phone was sending aurora alerts, typical when he was away from where he lives, close to a dark sky area.
When DS and GD were leaving we looked at the lovely clear sky and saw Mars alongside the Moon.
SIL is coming this afternoon, we might do some admin before we cook dinner together.
Have a good day.

Grandmabatty Sun 09-Mar-25 08:11:15

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and misty. Bonnybanko I'm sorry to hear your sad news.
Yesterday I managed to get the shopping done. No luck in phoning the care home as nobody seemed to know what was happening. It doesn't instill confidence in me! I ended up with a headache which is still here. It's probably stress.
Today I might go to the retail park for new bedding for dgs2's new bed. Then he's coming round for a couple of hours while dgs1 has a birthday party. That boy is a socialite! After he goes home, I'll visit mum. I'm making a fish pie for dinner which will feed me tonight and tomorrow. Have a good day all.

brook2704 Sun 09-Mar-25 08:03:13

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright
So sorry to hear about your sister Bonnybanko 💐
Yesterday was a lovely day, we were out all morning but then enjoyed the afternoon pottering in the garden. We sat out in the sunshine with a cuppa listening to the birds singing and signs of spring all round. More of the same today if we can
Definitely a houseful Rosies, enjoy the family time!
Enjoy your coach trip holly and everyone out and about today, safe travels Gingster
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

EkwaNimitee Sun 09-Mar-25 08:00:25

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
Yesterday was a glorious day weatherwise.
I made an early trip to Sainsbury's for some necessities not supplied by Tesco plus some whims! Then home for a long phone chat with my sister then lunch.
After that, it was the garden. I had a conifer to put in requiring a modest hole...I thought. However, I uncovered the builders' dumping ground and required my little mattock to excavate broken bricks and various stones not to mention the ubiquitous clay. Finally, job done I enjoyed an hour in the warm sun reading a book, stripped down to my T-shirt! Must get the suncream on today.

I'll go out for a walk shortly then probably get out in the garden again as I've more things to get in. We need to make the most of today, there seems to be a radical drop in temperature due tomorrow.
So, have a good day everyone if you can.

monk08 Sun 09-Mar-25 07:59:33

Good morning all from the Black country where the sun is breaking through.
No plans will just see where the day takes me.
FGT looking at that menu I can see why it is a favourite restaurant I'd be spoilt for choice.
Bonnybanko sorry to hear your news a sad time for the family 💐.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 09-Mar-25 07:45:55

The sun is shining, the seagulls are squawking (seas must be rough)

A lazy day is on the cards, I didn’t return from DS’s until 1am. DH was sound asleep, didn’t stir at all, not sure he realised I was home until he woke up this morning 🤪

bonnybanko (((hugs)))

RosieandherMaw it’s lovely when all the GC are together 💙

Safe journey Gingster fingers crossed the mower is back in working order.

Have a good day folks

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 09-Mar-25 07:39:16

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where we have a sunny start to the day here. Alexa tells me it’s 7°C currently and will be 17°C later today. We have a pleasant day planned as it’s Sunday - picking my stepfather up to enjoy a meal together. We’ve not seen him for a fortnight.

I’ve reserved a table at my favourite Italian and I always order two takeaway spaghetti bolognese for our grandchildren’s tea - very popular with them for a Sunday tea time!

Redcar Sun 09-Mar-25 07:32:14

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny with a bit of high cloud, but have no idea how warm or cold it is outside. A walk yesterday morning in the sun and I met a dog walking friend I hadn’t seen for weeks so it was good to catch up with her. Had dinner with the family at DD2s in the late afternoon/ early evening which was good. I think it will be a quiet day today. My lovely neighbour cut my grass with the petrol mower, it looks tidy now, except for the edges. I’ll try to do those myself, probably take a while as I can only do about 10 minutes at a time!
bonnybanko sad news about your sil. rosie a hectic day for you!
Have the best day possible everyone, enjoy the sunshine and warmth while it lasts!

Bellasnana Sun 09-Mar-25 07:30:57

A late good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 20°C.

I was up watching tennis until after 2am so have slept in. Perhaps that’s the answer to my insomnia.😄

Picked up my new glasses yesterday, they are much more comfortable than my last pair which were too heavy and hurt my nose, but I honestly can’t see much difference in the lenses.

We have a family gathering for lunch today and I’m already so anxious about it and wishing I didn’t have to go. The boys will be there, thank goodness, but I dread having to socialise.

So sorry to hear your news Bonnybanko. A sad time for your family.💐

Hope you all have the best Sunday you can. ☀️

Gingster Sun 09-Mar-25 07:28:48

Good morning all.

Today we are off to our Suffolk bolt hole for a few days, so an early start to miss some of the traffic on the A12.

I’ll be glad to get some fresh sea air and beach walks with little pooch. Dh will mow the lawns 🤞 if the situpon is back from the repairers AGAIN!!!!

My friend who is staying near Brisbane with her family are in the eye of the cyclone. She’s sent me some amazing photo s but I do pray they keep safe 🙏.

Take care all. 🌱

RosesandLilac Sun 09-Mar-25 07:27:45

Good morning from south Glos, it’s dry and bright here, looking forward to more sunshine.
The dog and I had a lovely 5 mile walk early yesterday morning in glorious sunshine, it was really warm too! We met different friends walking their dogs at various points so Annie enjoyed several good runs as they chased each other around. She slept for the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon 😄
I then did housework and washing, everything dried beautifully on the line, and by early afternoon I was pooped!
I had a long video call from DS and my lovely DGCs early evening, they lead very busy lives with weekends filled by cycling club and swimming and rugby practice. My older DGS cycled 100kms yesterday including time trials and a road race. He and DS are off to the continent in the summer for a cycling competition and another adventure getting to Italy where my DIL’s parents live.
Both DGCs are doing very well at school and I’m immensely proud of all of my family.
Today I have some ironing to do, I need to tidy up my craft room and then I intend to sit in the sun.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹
