It’s free to replace your driving licence so it’s worth having one for ID purposes even if you no longer drive.

Expired !!!

I have both passport and driving licence which are spired.
I may try that route.

Out of date passports etc are ok to use as ID when you go to vote.

This may be a silly question but does the passport or driving licence have to be valid? Even an out of date one will show your date of birth and surely could still be used as ID but not for travel or driving. I genuinely would like to know if using an expired piece of evidence could still be used for age verification/ID.

I may actually do that as at £90 or so it will do for the next 10 years!!
It seemed such a palaver this morning that I gave up in disgust.
Thanks for all your replies.

On our Carers' Courses we recommend renewing passports as a way of proving identity even if there is no intention to travel abroad.

I went to the station and showed my birth certificate, but you would still have to get there! Is there a way of scanning yours into the online form?

I solved that problem, and when I stop driving within the next few months, I will use my passport and renew it when necessary because it makes life simpler for me.

I suppose my Freedom pass is not accepted because it only has my name and photo.

If buying alcohol online, it is not enough sometimes for me to appear at the door as a photo ID is required.

Do you have a bus pass? Don't know if that would count.

I know this has been raised before and I can’t remember what advice was given.
I tried to renew my Senior Railcard online today. I registered for an account as I must have applied at the Station last time.
I got into my account but couldn’t renew, only apply for a new card.
I needed proof of age ( they would only have to see me to work out I am very old) but I no longer have a passport, driving license and no National identity card.
I can of course go to the station but ours is no longer manned and I would have to get a taxi there and back to the nearest which I could do without, but the problem of age verification would still arise.

Can anyone advise me?
