Happy birthday to you Georgesgran Have a lovely day

Grandmabatty Fri 14-Mar-25 07:38:52

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and frosty on the cars. A nice, bright day so far. GrandMattie I hope you are all successful in taking the management company to task. Grammaretto it's hard to see a good friend in failing health.
Yesterday I was back to normal, whizzing about with the hoover etc. As usual, my hairdresser gave me a free bottle of shampoo. He's a lovely man, him and his wife are very kind. In the afternoon I did a couple of hours in the school library. A class were in the other section, involved in a science lesson, and I remember why I was glad to retire! They were not well behaved for the visiting teacher and their own class teacher was oblivious to the nonsense some were up to. Afterwards I joined dd and dgs1 in the hall where the infants were busy with science experiments too, alongside their parents. They were all highly focused (children, not the parents) and it was fun to be involved.
Today I will get housework and washing done. I might nip to Aldi too. Dd said she would call in for a cuppa. If the weather stays fair, I'll do a little work in the garden. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a 1 degree W Kent. An earlier start this morning as the scaffolders are arriving from 8 o’clock onwards, roof work required. As I shall be in all day I am thinking up jobs to do.
Happy birthday Georgesgran
Glad all went well Madeleine
Best wishes to all

Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, cloudy corner of Somerset.

Enjoyed a chatty time over cake with our granddaughters, their mum and her partner. A mix of excitement and anxiety in our elder granddaughter as she takes off for Australia this evening. Four and a half months until we see her next.

Some grocery bits to gather today, need another photo album too and then will wait for a call to collect our neighbours from the coach stop. We’ve decided to head over the bridge tomorrow to tend Mr C’s parents grave and will welcome a relatively quiet day today.

Have the best day you can everyone.

brook2704 Fri 14-Mar-25 07:27:54

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve blue sky but chilly at 2°
I’m looking forward to meeting up with my pal for coffee today, we’ll have a good chat and catch up on news. Later if it’s not too cold I’ll hopefully do a bit of gardening, there’s always lots to keep me busy.
Safe travels grammaretto and everyone else on the move today
Happy Birthday georgesgran 💐🥂🎂 and enjoy your lunch out today! A lovely holiday to look forward to as well
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Gingster Fri 14-Mar-25 07:27:28

Good morning all from a frosty Essex.
The sun is peeking through so it should defrost the car.

I have to do school run today as Dd is poorly. Her immune system is ‘shot’ - (all down to the immunotherapy) . She seems to pick up anything around and has it worse than everyone else.

Our journey home yesterday was good and Dh is ready for his tooth extraction today.
No Friday gathering for us as we only have one car now. It usually works for us but on occassion it can be a bit of a nuisance.

It was strange when we left our cottage yesterday. I said ‘au revoir’ to my next door neighbour , we looked at the other neighbours flower tubs and all the polyanthus plants had disappeared ! We had just filled our window box with polys so I hope she doesn’t think we’ve pinched hers 🤣. She’s a strange lady!

Take care and enjoy the day as much as you can.🌱

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 14-Mar-25 07:22:27

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s very cold at 2°C. We don’t have plans for today until tea time when Himself plans to wrap up warm and go to watch the Boy Wonder at his ⚽️ training then we’ve been invited in for drinks by our neighbours.

monk08 Fri 14-Mar-25 07:20:00

Good morning all from a dry but dull Black country, yesterday was a day of all the seasons snowing while in the doctors, sunny when we came out and wind and rain later.
DH has a doctor's telephone appointment between 9 and 12 for a medicine review, will need to be around because he doesn't always listen to what they say.
Will pick the boys up later from school then back to theirs for dinner/ tea.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 14-Mar-25 07:16:55

Opening everyone from a cold 1° S E Essex.

My friend is picking me up this morning so that I can join her at the gym, I am able to do a little bit more each time I go.

Another friend is popping in for a cup of tea and chat this afternoon this afternoon. This evening DH and I are going to the local `Malaysian restaurant for dinner.

Hope you have a good day with your twins Bellasnana. Grammaretto how sad for you, you are a good friend.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

Good Morning Mick and all GN's from a chilly but dry North Yorkshire morning,.
I did as I intended, and as I was awake at 5am, for once made the best of it and got up and dressed and out to watch the lunar eclipse. Couldnt go anywhere really dark but was able to see it darken over. As with all the eclipses , all the birds who had been singing the dawn chorus, quietened down to silence for the short time there was no moon at all. It must have been very scary in days long ago , when people would not know why it happened. I stayed out hobbling about a bit to get the best view I could but it was very down in the sky to the west and couldnt see much once the eclipse was over, but was glad I had made the effort.

My eye is very gritty today and it is taking some conscious effort not to rub or touch it. I am still not a very good shot with the drops but persevere. So as I am already up and about, I shall listen to my Bach before 7, and then make an early sortie to the shops on the yellow peril.

Must get the local paper to find out what is happening in the area this week coming, and bits and pieces and then scoot back here to do some basic housework things. I have to get a move on as it is my chess beginners group at 10am, and dont want to miss that. Cant say I have done much with chess, and didnt go to whist due to eye situation this week, so need to get cracking again.

After this early start I think this afternoon I shall be watching the races on at cheltenham, listening to radio 3 and Gardeners QT on 4 ,generally recuperating, but it has been cheering to see the sky lighter so early and to be able to look forward to getting outside earlier.

My friend I have known since we were two is 80 tomorrow, and I feel a bit bad as didnt send a card, which I usually do, but forgot with all the things going on. So I shall ring her tonight and hope she is at home. It is always so lovely that after all these years we are still friends and can just carry on our conversation as if we had met yesterday. Hopefully when I can drive again we can meet up for lunch as we have done before.

I am not trying to write much at the moment, but as I can touch type can manage on here ok.
RoseandLIlac A lovely photo
grandMattie well done on your listing all the problems. If you can get photos too to add to the list, they cannot wriggle out of things and a lot of photos have the date on them so they cant say they have just done them or that the problem has only just surfaced. Good for y ou and the rest of them that are prepared to fight this. The more you get listed and so forth, they will see you mean business. If you pay maintenance to a specific firm or group, surely they could be sued as they are promising you work for the money you pay and are not doing it? False pretences or mis selling under the trades description act sort of thing must apply to them . Perhaps Citizens Advice would know the official legal bits that apply to your situation? Anyway Good luck in all you do

Wishing everyone a decent day and hope that you will have a chance to do something you would like to do, not just what has to be done.

Grammaretto Fri 14-Mar-25 07:15:05

Happy birthday Georgesgran 🎂 🥳 🎉 enjoy yourself!

So glad your DH is home and doing well Llfl

Sar53 Fri 14-Mar-25 07:14:54

Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is shining but there is frost on the cars.
DH returned home yesterday evening after his trip to Guernsey full of cold. He is not a very patient patient 😭.
Washing and admin for me this morning, my book awaits this afternoon.
Karma your allotment looks fantastic, such a lot of hard work.
Happy Birthday to Maw for yesterday.
Have a good Friday everyone xx

Redcar Fri 14-Mar-25 07:13:56

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright with high cloud and cold. There was a frost but that seems to be going off now. Had another day indoors yesterday, doing odd bits of tidying. Spent some time deleting very old emails from the pc, but lots more to delete, I’ll try to be more disciplined about getting rid of some of the daily deluge.
I need to go out this morning for some shopping, then late morning it’s the lunchtime bingo session in the village hall. Four games of bingo then lunch and home by 2.30. Always good fun, mostly elderly people, many of whom are hard of hearing! Not for the real bingo fans, we spend a lot of the time laughing and asking each other what the numbers are! The lunch is usually substantial so no need to cook later.
Have the best day possible everyone and keep warm!

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 14-Mar-25 07:05:08

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I am looking forward to an Arts Society study day today on Georgian Cookery. Several lectures and a two/course lunch. The venue is only a 15 minute drive so all good.

I collected OH from the hospital yesterday. All seems to have gone well. He is not experiencing the pain and discomfort he was led to expect. I suggested that the surgeon was giving him the worst case scenario! So OH can have a quiet day at home.

Have a good day everyone.

Georgesgran Fri 14-Mar-25 06:51:26

Good Morning from Durham. Bright, but cold again. Heating on. Coffee yesterday with my friend resulted in us booking a late May week to Cyprus. I need to renew my passport, but I’m still insured for the trip.
DD2 is taking me out for lunch today as a birthday treat - I might pop my heated rollers in!
Later, I’ll walk her Little Dog, somewhere not too muddy, low to the ground, he gets filthy.

Best wishes to all. X

harrigran Fri 14-Mar-25 06:38:36

Good morning from a cold but dry NE.
Woken at 5.45 by raised voices in the street followed by police car sirens entering the street.
I have to collect my glasses from the optician this afternoon, nothing else on the calendar.
Have a good day.

Grammaretto Fri 14-Mar-25 06:34:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Snow showers forecast but nothing yet.
I must finish packing and not miss the bus, train or ferry for my weekend away.
Yesterday I sat with my very poorly friend, made us drinks and brought her lunch. It's very sad knowing she's not going to get better. The bird feeder at her window was attracting coal tits.

Lovely sunset Roses.
Good luck with dealing with management gMattie.
Hope all with pain and troubles have a better day.

Greyduster Fri 14-Mar-25 06:29:59

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Just above freezing in South Yorkshire but, as yet, dry. Rain is forecast this afternoon. I set out, against my better judgement, to go to walking group yesterday. It was raining. By the time I was halfway up the dual carriageway it had turned to wet snow, and as it looked as if I was driving toward a bank of black cloud that promised more meteorological misery, so I turned round and came home. I did get a short walk later in the day. I baked a cake and sorted out some paperwork. School this afternoon and it looks like I shall have to drive.
A belated Happy Birthday to Maw🥂🎂.
Have the best day you can folks.

Sallyforth Fri 14-Mar-25 06:22:34

Good morning everyone from a cold and frosty morning in Cheshire. I peeped out early hoping to see the moon, but all was dark and gloomy.

A busy day ahead, but mostly driving. Giving a neighbour a lift to work, which with drop off and pick up later will be about 2 hours on the road.

Will go for my acupuncture session in between as I shall probably need it after the M6. Then will fit in an M&S food shop before returning to pick the neighbour up.

Curious about the soupmaker for one Karmalady as I don't like to make too much of the same kind.

Wishing all the best day possible.

karmalady Fri 14-Mar-25 06:01:13

Good morning from s somerset, cold and cloudy today with sun

The sun shone yesterday and I was outside in a flash, it was cold but lovely. I planted 24 little rescued strawberry plants into 6 big troughs and tied the troughs to the metal shelves on the etageres, I used narrow velcro to make straps, the troughs are now protected from sliding off in the strong winds

Little begonia corms next, close together in trays of compost and stored in the garage. After lunch I started the curd cheese pressing process, from kefir

It will be a bit full-on for part of today, I need to clear all countertops for my buffet tomorrow and anything in the freezer will go into the fridge. Dining table to be extended, and things put out of sight. Cloakroom cleaned and so on. I will be done by lunchtime

My new soupmaker came, I already have a tefal but don`t always want to make and keep 4 portions. This one makes only one portion and I will be testing it at lunchtime.

Have a good day

Susan56 Fri 14-Mar-25 05:59:01

Good morning from Shropshire.A cold start.Just looked at the BBC weather and it says snow mid morning🤦🏼‍♀️

Yesterday was a relaxing day at home. Our neighbour called in for tea and chat after lunch.

Today I am going to visit mum with DD2 .We will also go to mum’s house to sort a few things out.

Have the best day possible everyone🦩

Bellasnana Fri 14-Mar-25 05:57:43

Good morning from Malta where it is very windy but another high of 25°C expected. It’s still cold indoors though.

I have a slightly later start this morning as DD3 has online parents day so won’t be going into school. This will prove tricky as the boys will want to know what she’s doing in the spare room and why can’t they join her. I will take them out if possible but with force 6 - 7 winds it might not be much fun.

I loved the photos of your allotment yesterday karma. An absolute transformation and my bones ache just thinking of all the hard graft you’ve put in to achieve such a splendid result.👏🏻👏🏻

It was a long day yesterday. The boys were both good as gold but Twin 1 didn’t want to take a nap so I didn’t get my usual break to charge my batteries. As I’d been up since 2am watching tennis, I was really glad to get home.

I was asleep by 8pm and up at 3am to watch tennis this morning. Well worth it!🙌🏻

Thinking of all who are finding life difficult at the moment. Hope you all have the best day possible.☀️

grandMattie Fri 14-Mar-25 05:49:31

Good morning from a cold Bristol. There is frost on cars again!
Yesterday was spent trying to collate all the things that still haven’t been repaired on the estate. Some are minor, but long standing (eg. three years for blown double glazing) others urgent (eg. three months for roof tiles), etc. I hadn’t realised how much dissatisfaction there is. Only about 9 of 20 households have responded to a circular asking for lists of repairs required. And that is also before things like complete shabbiness of the paintwork, etc. the response from the management will be interesting.
I met our new neighbour, the other side of me moved in, in the afternoon.
Today, I have my Spanish class, several students have already called off for various reasons. I rather like the small classes.
I hope that everyone is better/happier today. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Pantglas2 Fri 14-Mar-25 05:46:33

Good morning Mick and all from cold north Wales where there’s no sign of the red moon while I brew the chamberpot ☕️

Belated birthday greetings to Maw 🥂 and anyone else with something worth celebrating🍾. A special 🥇 to our amazing allotment holder, some serious hard graft there!

A lunch out with old (but younger than me…🤨) school friends in Conwy is my treat for today after a quiet few days pottering around PGTowers following my foray into the big 🌆!Manchester is booming with so much building work and busy restaurants etc on a Monday evening - a delicious Indian meal 😋

💐 and hugs for those in pain, too many by far - may the weekend be easier for you all 🤗

RosesandLilac Fri 14-Mar-25 05:40:42

Good morning from frosty south Glos, it's a chilly -4° here.
We had a magnificent sunset last night, incredible colours.
I spent yesterday morning giving the living room a good clean and tidy, it wasn’t dirty just muddly in places, it’s looking much better 😊
Today I have art group this morning but nothing else planned except the usual things.
Have a lovely day if you can 🌹
