Good Morning Everyone ,
Dark start but dry outside here in brackley at the moment.
Today the usual bus trip to Bicester , followed by Fish & Chips from the local chippy.
Then an afternoon of cycling on TV.
My health is OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from a fair day in Wiltshire.

For the first time in his life DH has created an M&S account and ordered some clothes for our upcoming cruise! 👏👏

DGD3 (6) loves crafts. This is a very tall order for me with the artistic skills at the very bottom end of the scale (apart from music). But I’ve now discovered some good craft ideas on FB. This week we made concertinared rabbits (if you pressed them they bounced). Then she drew some cartoon bees.

Karmalady I’m unbelievably impressed by the before and after photos of your allotment. No idea how you do it! I hope all has gone well for your DP LLFL. Glad your mum is ok Susan56. Happy belated Birthday greetings RosiesMaw.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from a sunny but cold Angus coast. There are so many early birds on here that if I read all 44 posts ahead of me I'd be here until lunchtime! Lovely photos though. What a sunset Rosesandlilac! We had a beauty the other evening too, but it was too cold to tempt me out to take a photo! Watching the little birds feeding must bring your friend solace grammaretto in between your visits.
Babydoll obviously enjoyed her trip to the seafront Marydoll - and nothing like sea air to produce a good night's 💤.
Madeleine I'm glad you managed to see the partial lunar eclipse. I was up for a nocturnal wander about 4.20 and saw a speck of bright orange with an opalescent ring round it. As usual when there's any sort of 'sky event' here cloud obscures it, so I guess I was lucky to see what I did.
Yesterday was one of those good days at tai chi when I obviously grabbed everyone's attention with what I was saying. The majority of the class have been with me for 10 years and more, so that's a hard-worked-for rare achievement! Even my announcement that it was time for a coffee break fell on deaf ears as they continued practicing and discussing the move between themselves. I know "self praise is no praise" but I feel ridiculously pleased with myself 😉😁. But again it's the thing I love about tai chi - no matter how long you've been doing it there's something new to discover. And there's a saying "One person teaches, two people learn" which always resonates.
Today I'm not sure whether I am expecting DGD3 + friend + mad dawg this afternoon or not - as usual with the young, I shall play that one by ear! If they turn up for a meal it will be pizzas from down in the town - her favourite pizza place.
Enjoy your sunshine today everyone, and happy birthday celebrations where appropriate ☀️🪻🌷🍰

The promised very cold weather has arrived as promised so it will be back with the warmest coat when I go to the oldies’ coffee morning - without my neighbour with Altzheimers as she has moved into the excellent local nursing home to see how she likes it. As she will have people to talk to all day and activities provided I expect her to settle happily, but will defer going to see her for a week or two.

No plans otherwise but there is always a domestic task awaiting.

Stilllearning Fri 14-Mar-25 08:52:26

Oh my God baubles! One of mine stuck a baby carrot in their ear, I remember the phone call to DH’s secretary (I had no transport) Tell him he’ll need to come home, the baby has a carrot in his ear😳

GrannyIvy Fri 14-Mar-25 08:51:46

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it feels cold but is bright and sunny. I am hiding in bed with a cuppa reading Gransnet as the window cleaner arrived at 8.30 and awaiting him to disappear before emerging. He always comes early with no prior warning!

Today I am having brunch in the garden centre with a friend where I am sure I will be tempted to buy a new plant especially as I have a voucher to use. Then the only excitement is an Ocado delivery at 3 pm. No GC to collect today so can snuggle down with my book.

Happy Birthday Georgesgran 🎂 Happy Friday to all x

Morning, high cloud and it’s frosty in S Hants.
Happy Birthday Georgesgran 🥂🎂🥳, safe journey Grammaretto and enjoy your weekend.
Yesterday was a day of not very much, a general tidy up, caught up with two friends on the phone then online admin and banking.
Today MrJ has two voluntary drives, he uses my car, so I’ll be stranded, Tesco delivery this afternoon and pub tonight.
I will get on and order a couple of small trees for the garden.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
Pianist friend from over fifty miles away cancelled his visit yesterday as his cat went missing on Monday and he’s on the lookout. As he was staying overnight, my plans were scuppered.

Good lunchtime concert on Wednesday, Tchaikovsky violin concerto really lovely and the young students from Chethams are very gifted.
Art this morning and I do wish it would warm up, I’m feeling the cold so much these days.
Happy birthday Georgesgran and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning all, its 2°C here and sunny.

Happy birthday, Georgesgran and I hope yesterday was a good day for you too, Maw.

I am exhausted today after our day at the coast with a very independent and determined toddler.
The weather was cold, but glorious. Our walk along the promenade took for ever, because she wanted to stop every couple of minutes, to investigate. We have a hilarious video of her discovering her shadow. She was so annoyed, that it kept following her. 🤣
Her favourite pastime was throwing stones over the sea wall, into the sea, which was lapping right up against the wall..
At one point, I noticed her shoe had come off and managed to stop her, just as she was about to launch it over the wall into the sea. Papa was supposed to be in charge, thank goodness one of us is responsible!
How on earth would I explain the missing shoe to her parents? 😱

On the way home, bombing along the motorway, we were subjected to a rendition of Babyshark which was on repeat. BabyD is not a delicate, little flower, she has a voice like a foghorn.
At one point my phone rang, it was my GP, who much to my surprise, was checking up on me. He hasn't done this since pre pandemic. Until then, he had always gone above and beyond. It was totally surreal, we were trying to have a serious discussion, while BabyD* was belting out Baby Shark and shouting Ga, Ga ( her name for me), because she did not have my full attention,
GP wanted to prescribe another single dose of medication for my mouth, which is still painful, but on hearing that it made me violently sick, changed his mind. Here are few medications, I can tolerate nowadays. I'm back to the surgery this morning, to pick up yet another prescription. It is never ending.
He surprised me even further, by asking how the sores on my neck and lip were. It is a tad unsettling, for a previous GP dismissed them as sun damage, but my GP seems to be taking it ore seriously.

Last night, DS sent me a text, asking Who burst the baby?. Apparently the usually resistant, BabyD, begged to be taken to bed, she was so tired! 🤣

I shall stop at Morrisons on the way home, they have a splendid fish counter. I am fussy about supermarket fish, preferring the fishmonger, but this is always so fresh.

Safe travels to all and hugs for all, who need them.

Good morning. The sun has put his hat on but not sure how long it will last.
Belated birthday wishes to Maw and Happy Birthday to Georgesgran.
Had a pleasant after yesterday in home and furniture shops with DD2 who is moving house in two weeks time. She is in a mixture of excitement and nervousness after losing the first house she went for around Christmas.
Hairdressers for me this morning and a few errands to do in town. Not decided on a plan for the afternoon yet.
Wishing all a good day.

GrandmaC47 Fri 14-Mar-25 08:11:51

Good morning from a dry, bright and cold Co Durham, rain forecast for late morning.
Our cleaner cried off this morning so I’ll have to push the hoover round.
Lunching with my friend at our favourite pub/restaurant. We try to go out most weeks.
At long last DH’s leg is resuming it correct size, shows the clot is dissolving so I can relax a bit.
Happy Birthday, Geaorgesgran, hope you enjoy your lunch.
Have a good day everyone.

Liberty Fri 14-Mar-25 08:07:15

Good morning from a frosty but very bright and sunny Suffolk. What a lot of early birds you all are. I look forward to reading your posts with my 1st cuppa.

Lovely day yesterday with my stretch class which I managed to do for the full hour and then for coffee and a delicious plum, pear and hazelnut cake which my friend had made.

I think, given this bright sunshine,DH and I will wrap up warm and take the little dog to the seaside for a walk.

Hope all have the best day possible.

BlueSapphire Fri 14-Mar-25 08:01:59

Maw, missed your birthday.yesterday, hope.you had a lovely day! 🍾🍴🎂

NannyJan53 Fri 14-Mar-25 08:01:46

Good morning from a dull and cold Black Country.

Bracing walk yesterday through the Country Park. We walked just over 4 miles. Then onto Mums where we went to lunch at her local, then onto Lidl for food shopping. Mum wasn't sure what year we were in, and thought it was the 90's shock

Today my friend and I are going to a National Trust property as we have a voucher for free entry. Hope it warms up today as today is the last day the voucher can be used.

Happy Birthday Georgesgran and belated wishes to RosieandherMaw

Stilllearning Fri 14-Mar-25 07:56:46

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, I haven’t looked outside yet but the heating has come on fully so it must be cold.

Busy day yesterday and I only read the posts last night so a belated Happy birthday to RosiesndherMaw and to Georgesgran for today, enjoy your lunch!

Absolutely amazing progress on your allotment Karma I am in awe.

Ash, so nice to read about your DH’s rescue dash, I sincerely hope your pain levels subside soon.

A lovely chatty meal with DD1 in one of our very nice local restaurants last night. She has just completed an intensive course in Edinburgh in teaching English as a foreign language and has been offered employment by the school. I’m really pleased for her, now both DGDs are away at uni it will be good for her to have a new challenge.

Hairdresser this morning and an overnight visit to DD4 to enjoy so 🤞 a good day ahead.

Good wishes to all. Enjoy your weekend Grammaretto

FS and children are coming here until Sunday to give DDoutLaw a bit of a break. I’ll need one by the end of the weekend!

I’m going to read the thread now. Have the best day possible everyone b

Happy birthday Georgesgran 🎉🎂🎁.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where we’ve had overnight rain.

Yesterday evening both DD and DS posted on our family chat about dramatics in their homes. DS’s youngest had managed to pull a chest of drawers over on top of himself but thankfully escaped unscathed. Meanwhile DD’s youngest, who at the age of six should know better, had pushed a pea up his nose where it refused to budge. Poor DD eventually managed to remove it, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience for either of them. So glad I only heard about the episodes when they were over.

This afternoon DS and is coming over

BlueSapphire Fri 14-Mar-25 07:50:24

Good morning everyone from a bright 🌞 and very frosty Northampton. Must be cold because the heating came on. Yesterday was very cold with frequent heavy showers including hail and/or sleet.

A pleasant morning spent gossiping chatting with my neighbour, and arrangements made for another coffee morning involving more neighbours and ex-neighbours.

After lunch headed into town to the bank to re-arrange my bank accounts, which went to my satisfaction, helped by a very nice 'customer advisor' who spent an hour with me. Apparently all account managers are now working from home, so I wouldn't have got to see my personal manager anyway.

Dance classes first thing so will have my fruit and porridge first to give me fuel for dancing. May go for coffee afterwards.

Hope all have a pleasant day.

EkwaNimitee Fri 14-Mar-25 07:48:34

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny and lightly frosty Carlisle.
The sky is clear now and when I went to bed but at 4am-ish when I checked on the moon, it was cloudy! So no eclipse viewing here.
I pootled about with non-serious things yesterday, no housework! I've cleared a book or two out, more ready to be checked on. Not today though as I'm off for a day in Newcastle shortly so must get on.

Have a good day if possible everyone.

RosieandherMaw Fri 14-Mar-25 07:45:32

Good morning from N Bucks where it is sunny but more than a bit nippy! Hard frost last night so I am glad I didn’t give into the temptation of putting plants in the garden for last weekend!
Thank you for birthday wishes- sending my own to my “nearly twin” (?) Georgesgran. 🎂💐
Now it’s safely behind me, the less I think about birthdays, the better!
Going out to Brasserie Blanc with 2 friends for lunch and my Waitrose shopping is not due until 10, so I think I’ll drink my TIB and then roll over for what my parents used to refer to as “forty winks” .
Best wishes to all with burdens or in pain I hope things ease for you all.

cornergran Fri 14-Mar-25 07:44:50

Birthday wishes georgesgran, lunch sounds good.
