Have to have this Sunday, any advice.

Yes, I have had this twice.
If they offer sedation then take it and you will not be aware of much, although I do remember occasionally looking at the screen a thinking “that’s me”!
No pain or discomfort. Quick recovery and they give you the results immediately.
Worst bit for me was the bowl prep. What made it easier was chilling it, adding some lime cordial, and using 2 straws to get it past most of the taste buds on your tongue. Also having plain very cold water to swish mouth with and spit out after each drink of the stuff. (Don’t swallow the water as you have to take so much fluid in anyway). However, I am a total wuss with anything I don’t like the taste of.
Stay near the loo and have Vaseline to sooth if needed.
Good luck x

Both ends at the same time?

ViceVersa

Both ends at the same time?

Usually endoscopy followed by colonoscopy, in one session with one sedative. Gets it over with quickly!

Do you mean a gastroscopy?

An endoscopy is any procedure with a small camera, in a variety of organs.

I had both ends oscopied a couple of weeks ago under sedation. I felt a couple of twinges, but nothing more than that. Fascinating watching the screen!

Be warned - The prep takes no prisoners! Stay very close to the loo! I found it best to drink the prep through a straw, as that minimises the contact in your mouth.

Good luck!

Yes me and I was so stressed before it. But I had the sedation and can honestly say it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought. I’m awful at any hospital procedure so u will be ok they removed polyps It seemed over quickly. Good luck

I forgot about that prep that’s horrible you just can’t leave the loo but has to be done. Some good advice about taking it through straws

Take sedation or ask for it if not offered

Hi Cheznous, are you in France as I am ?
I've had both at the same time in France for which they gave me a light General Anaesthetic.
Didn't feel a thing. Only problem was the Prep but that was easier than UK (I've had numerous UK colonoscopies) because you get the "purgative" in one dose then just have to drink a lot of water rather than having to prepare a horrible gloopy mixture that you have to drink.
If you're in UK and they offer sedative accept it or demand it if you're not offerred.
Best of Luck.

I used to make appointments in a hospital, and when I booked anyone for these procedures I felt it would be my worst nightmare. However, after having tummy troubles it was my turn to have them. I had the prep, it was Ok but stay near a loo. Actual procedure was the next day, had light sedation, and it was fine!
