Watching Gardeners World, what a load of complete rubbish!
What do others think please or am I just ratty?? 🥴

😁

Churchview Wed 19-Mar-25 20:14:14

Alan's been friends with the King for decades. That makes him posh in my book.

Allira Wed 19-Mar-25 19:57:01

Ooh er, common! How dreadful.

I think writing posts like that about people who have never done you any harm is somewhat creepy.

foxie48 Wed 19-Mar-25 19:38:07

"(unlike snivelling, horribly nasal, common Titchmarsh!"
Wow, so you don't like him then, "Ilovedogs22". Nothing to do with his knowledge of gardening but all to do with his accent and social class. "Snivelling"! How on earth does someone "snivel" on a gardening programme?

Washerwoman Wed 19-Mar-25 18:18:23

Alan Titchmarsh is common !In what way. What a comment. And why is Francis creepy? We're all different but personally I love Montys soothing voice and think Frances seems lovely.

Churchview Wed 19-Mar-25 18:06:39

Why is Frances creepy? She seems an accomplished and pleasant young woman to me. Do you not even like her beautiful, gentle dog Ilovedogs22?

Mia9Poppy3

Nobody beats Geoff Hamilton, wonderful

Yes Mia9poppy3, Geoff Hamilton was a wonderful presenter and a proper gardener.
I loved his gentle demeanour & his clever, knowledgeable but practical gardening advice. He was also very easy on the eye too.
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of admiration for Monty Don & think that he is a nice, genuine person (unlike snivelling, horribly nasal, common Titchmarsh!
It's the content of GW that's changed over the past few years.
It's become pretentious & a bit precious. We don't all have acres like either Monty or some of the other massive money- no- object plots shown. (Flaunted!)😊
Keep Monty but please get rid of creepy Francis!.🤔

I hope Mrs Titchmarsh isn’t on GN.

shock

Poor Mrs Titchmarch!
Sorry Mrs Tich if you . 🤔

merlotgran Wed 19-Mar-25 09:40:43

I’ve read a couple of AT’s books and Jilly Cooper they are not.

I skimmed through the semi-raunch because the thought of Saint Alan of Gardening writing about rumpy pumpy was too much for my delicate state! 😊😚🤭

Greyduster Wed 19-Mar-25 09:33:17

Apparently AT wrote some very raunchy novels (and no! I haven’t read any😁!). Perhaps HM read some - hence her comment!

Redhead56 Wed 19-Mar-25 09:30:07

I love the comments on Alan Titchmarsh sexy no way. Oh no I suddenly feel sick must finish off my seed trays for a distraction.

merlotgran Wed 19-Mar-25 09:29:14

Have you noticed how many presenters have naturalistic sounding surnames?

Pippa Greenwood
Peter Seagrove
Bob Flowerdew
Joe Swift
Alan Titchmarsh
Frances Tophill
Adam Frost
Sarah Raven

I’m sure there are others and Monty Don and Rachel de Thame might be a bit of a stretch but you get my drift! 😂

Redhead56 Wed 19-Mar-25 09:26:02

I watched Gardeners World with my dad. we had an interest in common. Percey Thrower was my dads favourite he liked his gardening books.
It's all show now about other gardens but not much in the practical sense as it was. Monty does come up with some handy tips but only really at the end of the programme.

Churchview Wed 19-Mar-25 08:58:57

I met Alan Titchmarsh at Malvern RHS show. I don't think I've ever seen anyone so clean or groomed. He was very charming and definitely had a glamour about him.

merlotgran Wed 19-Mar-25 08:53:58

Adam’s voice is a bit strange. It’s all over the place so I find myself listening for the moment when he changes from speaking normally to shooting up the scale and going all squeaky and when he tries to laugh and talk at the same time it sounds forced.

Sorry, Adam.

Calendargirl Wed 19-Mar-25 07:48:25

I hope Mrs Titchmarsh isn’t on GN.

Gin Tue 18-Mar-25 20:57:24

Well, we are all different. I do not like Adam at all. It’s his voice that grates whereas Monty’s mellifluous tones are so soothing and relaxing. I think there is a good mix. The programme is watched by beginners and knowledgable gardeners so you cannot ignore one group to please another so just record and fast forward the bits not to your taste. Beechgrove is informative but a bit too Blue Peter-ish for me.

Millie22 Tue 18-Mar-25 18:45:19

I quite like Monty but really he just tops and tails the programme with a small amount of actual gardening lasting about five minutes.

Too many huge gardens. I much prefer Adam.

Lydie45 Tue 18-Mar-25 18:43:53

Treacherous talk but Alan Titchmarsh has a new gardening show which is very much like Gardeners Word used to be. It started sometime over the weekend but I can’t remember when.

Thebeeb Tue 18-Mar-25 18:14:56

I agree. Not worth watching now.

merlotgran Tue 18-Mar-25 18:14:27

I agree about Sarah Raven’s demonstrations. I follow her on Instagram and there’s always something of interest in her reels.

I wish she could be a guest presenter again on GW as she was in the brief time it was filmed at Barleywood, or whatever it was called.

merlotgran Tue 18-Mar-25 18:10:28

Blimey! Don’t hold back! 😂😂

Barleyfields Tue 18-Mar-25 17:55:59

Not to mention the paunch and the silly haircut.

Ilovedogs22 Tue 18-Mar-25 17:46:44

Ohh blimey! Alan Titchmarsh sexy!!!
Do some people need glasses? Just that nasal whine makes my bottom clench! Not to mention his nose & well everything about the little twit. 🤔

Esmay Tue 18-Mar-25 17:46:23

I love Monty Don's voice and ideas ,but I'm bored seeing other people's gardens on Gardener's World .
I enjoyed a Carol Klein repeat the other day

I've never been a fan of Alan Titchmarsh . .
