I’m tired of wearing thick winter clothes.

It’s still only March, so not really surprising that it’s cold. Though having said that, we did have several lovely warm days recently, before the air turned arctic again.
As long as I’ve got the right clothes on, I don’t mind it.

I’m north west. I believe the rain started in October 2023 and has persisted with brief dry spells since
This week dry, bright skies, even sun shine but still so cold.
Dog walks mean thermals and fleeces.
The garden is behind its usual state. I’ve been clearing borders but - driven in by the cold

Now is the time for a little cheating!! I have been up to the artic, so bought some good polar strength tops and trousers to wear under warm outer clothes. I get fed up with winter stuff as well now, so my answer is to root out my lovely cheerful linen wide trousers, but put the polar long johns on underneath!! Result is I feel warm enough but when I pass a mirror I look ready for spring or summer!! Still wearing the winter stuff at home but this is my answer to going out to cheer the day. Probably need gloves and thick sox and possibly a hat but when I get whereever I can feel I look ok .Try it, and at least your friends will think you are either crazy or very hardy to be wearing such lightweight things!

Iam another who prefers winter clothes, but then autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. Once summer comes I cannot wait for it to be over and with it summer clothes.

I prefer winter clothes too washerwoman. They somehow seem nicer.

RosieandherMaw Sun 16-Mar-25 18:59:56

It’s cold enough - and then some- to still enjoy snuggling into my winter jumpers- the thicker the better!

Can’t wait until I can wear less. Hate the winter love spring and summer . You are supposed to like the season you were born in I was a July baby.

Waiting to be rid of socks and into sandals and no woollens . My friend and I have just booked a coach holiday for mid April and I’m hoping I can wear linen trousers to travel in. Ever the optimist me !

I'm weird.I prefer winter clothes. Polo necks and nice jumpers.Boots and thick tights .A cosy coat and scarf. In winter you get dressed and that's it.In summer I also seem to change more.Put something on and it's OK in the morning then it either clouds over or gets too hot and it's all change.Plus in winter no need to worry about pasty legs !

I am usually cold. I can't believe the people (mostly young) who walk around in winter wearing T-shirts or shorts. Listening to other people, many feel cold in different parts of the body. Some say their feet are always cold, my DH says his neck is always cold. As for me, it's the tops of my arms and my shoulders. We humans are a strange lot.

I’ve got on more skins than an onion.
It’s bitterly cold up here still. Well, last weekend was gorgeous but those two days were just a teaser.

I'm like Claremont; I wear layers, not thick clothing. And a vest! (Or camisole, if you prefer that word!) Most of my layers are fine for summer wear, too.

Parsley3 Sun 16-Mar-25 16:34:53

I was thinking this very thing this morning. I am tired of wearing my thick padded coat and I am ready to leave off my base layer too. Drat those bright sunny days we are having when the disappointingly bitter wind would take your ears off. I want some heat, please.

Taichinan Sun 16-Mar-25 16:31:19

I got mine all washed the week before last, escaped, but I've had to wear them all since then 😂. But then I'm in the north of Scotland so I was probably a tad too optimistic?

I wear clever layers instead of thick winter clothes. Much more effective and feel so much better.

oh yes yes yes...roll on warmer weather I'm longing to get sitting at my garden table with the parasol

Scribbles Sun 16-Mar-25 15:51:47

More than anything, I long for it to be warm enough to not need to wear socks.

lixy Sun 16-Mar-25 15:44:41

Oh me too. It’s such a faff getting out of the house with gloves, coat, scarf, woolly hat. And that’s just us. Multiply it all by a factor of a squillion when you add in teenage and toddler grandchildren!!Our hallway is tiny, not enough room for us both to change shoes at the same time and it makes me really grumpy!
So much easier in the Summer with bare feet indoors and slip on sandals and a sun hat to go out.

escaped Sun 16-Mar-25 15:38:20

I've just put together a pile of woolly winter jumpers, all washed, that I am sending to the loft this evening. I'm not quite ready to get the summer stuff out yet, so I'll stick with fleeces and sweatshirts until May time.
It's bright sunshine here, but chilly.

Casdon Sun 16-Mar-25 15:33:22

Yes, I’m definitely ready for it. My garden is really late this year, and I’ve had plenty of time to get on top of the winter jobs. I’m so ready for sandals, deckchair weather and deadheading instead of looking at my daffodils still in bud.

BlueBelle Sun 16-Mar-25 15:22:54

I long for some warm weather I went to dig my allotment today and it’s was sheltered and warm there but I ve still got my thermals on
I m rarely too hot very rarely

rafichagran Sun 16-Mar-25 15:21:01

I love the seasons, but winter, and that seasins clothes are my favourite.

JaneJudge Sun 16-Mar-25 15:18:41

I bought a lovely snugg fleece from tesco who is apparently nightwear but I've been wearing it in the day but yes, I long for some sun and warm days smile

Barleyfields Sun 16-Mar-25 15:15:51

I don’t like hot weather.

crazyH Sun 16-Mar-25 15:14:30

Even in the Summer, I’ve got a Cardigan on. I can’t handle even a gentle breeze 😫

NanKate Sun 16-Mar-25 15:10:19

I’m counting the days until I can wear some lighter summer clothing. Even when it is sunny it’s still cold and I live in the south of the U.K.

What about you?
