I’m tired of wearing thick winter clothes.

Well I was going to have my down coat dry cleaned so now I’ll wash it myself. Thank you.

I wash mine on a wool cycle and dry in the tumble dryer with a clean tennis ball . The ball plumps up the feathers

NannieChicken, I hope you enjoy it! I went with my mother a few decades ago - it was almost midsummer - we were very lucky with the weather and thoroughly enjoyed it.

We have had fab weather here all week. Got up to 20c. Loads of blue skies and sunshine.

I have been washing everything in sight while the weather is great including my duvet style coat. It is filled with down and washed beautifully and dried outside on the line.

I’m looking forward to light colourful clothes but fear I’ve put on weight during winter and my summer things won’t do up.
I may have to buy new so will be visiting the eight charity shops in my little town.

Oh thanks, Welbeck. That’s very useful. DH will be pleased if we can get these.

You can get mens neck gaiter or neck scarf in Poundstretcher.
Like a circular cravat or the sort of thing motorcyclists wear to fill the gap.
Lightweight. Suitable for indoor wear.
They are shelved near the gloves hats and socks.

I’ve noticed that - on all channels- weather girls, female TV presenters, female news readers, have spent this very cold winter in mostly sleeveless dresses/ tops. Would hate to see their heating bills

Humph. Is that expected of them? Like Jane Austen women wearing sleeveless frocks while the men are warm in britches shirts and jackets?

Likewise the men and women going to the races the other day - suits for the men, skimpy skirts with bare legs for the women.

Basically another Winter/Autumn girl here but about 2 weeks ago we landed in Singapore. A shock to the system and a reminder of why I'm not so keen on hot humid summer days. You really have to think more about what to wear and how to keep cool. And don't get me started on moving instantly from socks and boots to sandals. Oz and NZ have been more pleasant like an English summer but still searching out the shade. At least when we get home my feet will be conditioned to sandals, although in April I should imagine it'll be back to boots.

I wish I could go bare legged in the summer but my legs are so veiny they would scare the horses.

Sunshine-y here today, & we're clinging tightly to our lovely cooler temps of 22c, b/c I live on the Gulf of Mexico - only another couple of weeks left till the hot weather starts! (which I'd gladly send over to share w/ you!)

I prefer winter clothing.

I dislike being hot, my skin bumps. To that end we have Aircon.

Iam another who prefers winter clothes, but then autumn and winter are my favourite seasons. Once summer comes I cannot wait for it to be over and with it summer clothes.

I’m counting the days until I can wear some lighter summer clothing. Even when it is sunny it’s still cold and I live in the south of the U.K.

I'm with you NanKate. I'm in Scotland and the past few days have been sunny/cloudy but a bit warmer ie from 0 - 8 degrees, but if the sun goes behind a cloud it's freezing! The wind chill factor is a big thing here too and not having a summer at all last year means we Scots are all YEARNING for warmth. I love to wear shorts and dresses with bare legs - I feel happier in the sunshine so really hope we get a summer this year - it has rained since September here too, so we're really needing it!

Ah yes it does get tiresome, though I find it easier to look smart and be wary dressed in the winter - I just assume I’m going to be cold so it’s boots and leggings and warm tops and a tidy jacket - or thermals under smarter wear ! . I like transitional clothes ( and to be honest in the north it’s alway ‘transitional’ 😊) . So for me that’s about wearing spring / summer colours but still in a warmer weight/ long sleeves . I don’t do cardigans as in my opinion they give no structure or style to an ‘older’ body although they are incredibly useful ! I do a lot of walking and gardening so that’s easily accommodated with the usual sporty stuff. Summer is trickier as our weather is so variable - I love a summer dress but they do all seem to be sleeveless which isn’t the best for this country . I can’t wear skirts . Also I find footwear a problem with dresses - - love boots - love sandals - but what to wear in between ? Not trainers please I just look awful as my legs are skinny and short 😂

it is usually nice in north Scotland in May but never hot!

I can’t wait for summer clothes. Not wearing a jacket etc. sit outside for coffee etc. roll on the Esther weather!

I am even further south, Versailles, and although the sun is shining the wind is cold. My DGD gave me a bright light blue jumper for Christmas and it has made me feel more optimistic, when I wear it, a change from my usual darker colours.

I wear a thermal vest or top, followed by a cashmere jumper; I’ve got quite a few and they’re much thinner than regular jumpers but keep you incredibly warm. The major problem is clothes moths with cashmere so you have to keep every one singly in a ziplock bag. My thinnest and most expensive one is kept in the freezer lol! I just like the fact that they are fairly thin and so not bulky.

Just to make you all envious, we are off on a 2-week cruise from Malta to Greece in 10 days. It won't be red hot but a lot warmer than the N Derbyshire hills, and a welcome end to a year of (successful) cancer treatment!

So the summery stuff is being washed right now!
