Who cares.

Must admit when we were there the notes were never looked at !!
Most people use their debit/credit cards so not much difference to UK .

Hardly cutting ties. I'm sure no-one, either there or here, will be devastated by this.

That’s hardly cutting ties is simply respecting Australia’s own heritage including that of the indigenous people.
I can see no reason why the King should be on their currency.

I agree

That's interesting Grandmabatty
I've had Scottish notes in the past and never noticed!

Scotland only has had a royal face on a Scottish bank note twice as far as I know; the queen mother on her 100th birthday and Queen Elizabeth on her 50th year as queen (it might have been 60). It's not such an unusual thing

The Queen was only on the one smallest note. Lots of other people on the others so it's not like taking the Queen/King off our notes.

I don't think anyone will think much about it soon.

When is the new note out Infoman?
It is still having an "indigenous peoples" theme?

NotAGran55 Tue 18-Mar-25 07:07:37

I thought this was announced a couple of years ago Infoman?
Not very interesting then!

M0nica Tue 18-Mar-25 06:53:51

I didn't know he was on any Australian banknotes, and I cannot see I cannot see that him not being on them is an issue of any note.

I can understand their wish to do things their way. I have never been and always wanted to. They will always be ties to us and in spirit close to us, they don't need us but as long as they like us and we get along that's enough. Our country is in a mess, they could show us a thing it two.

Hardly anyone uses $5 anymore. No one will notice.

Alongside the institution

King Charles will not appear on the new 5 Australian dollar note.
