Good morning Mick and all GN's on a bright sunny but very frosty, still , morning here in North Yorkshire.

It looks as though it should be sunny for the day anyway. I might get to sit outside later if I wear sunglasses. It is two steps forward one step back at the moment! I did not have a good night at all and this morning my eye is watering quite a lot and is sore, and now my leg has decided to join the party, and is red and painful. (I have had cellulitis before)

So change of plan. Should have been going to the digital class this morning, but dont think I could look for very long at a keyboard , very annoying, because I missed last week as it was operation day. So must ring them and explain, I hate letting people down, and if I had known when the operation was happening I would have waited for a later class. There were quite a lot of people wanting to do the course and I am sorry that I have taken a place and now not been able to do it properly. As a teacher I know it is also frustrating for them if people drop out. But my eye has to come first.

Probably now staying in all day, well certainly not going to risk it on the yellow peril, as even with sunglasses on the wind can be quite strong. Ah ! Just looked out of the window, and the squirrel has just hopped across the grass, sat up and looked at me for a moment and then turned and scooted up the tree, upsetting two pigeons who are prospecting for nesting sites, but lack of leaves means they just walk up and down looking, fly away and then return, seeming annoyed that the leaves have not arrived whilst they were away!!

So the day is brightening, but still signs of frost on roof and fence, and looks very cold. Yesterday had to rush about and sort out some holiday money things, as the eye situation had meant I hadnt kept up to date on deadlines. So today I will take myself in order and it is going to be checking through bills, and also plan to look through my bank statements as I recently changed banks (The headquarters decided to close my branch so had to move ) As they suggest you do, I plan to check that all the dd's and standing orders etc etc are correct and going to the right people etc. Who knows, I might find something that is no longer needed , and have some spare money. I wont hold my breath.! Then it is just going to be sorting out a book shelf, doing some ironing, and trying to remember to put my leg up whenever possible. So nothing very exciting but hopefully I shall improve from a quiet day and be a bit better tomorrow.

Hurrah for the radio I say. As an avid reader, I am finding it quite frustrating at the moment. Up to now, whenever my back was causing me problems , or I felt miserable or whatever, I would sit down and read. Reading was my reward, just get this washing on the line, washing up done, casserole made, etc etc and will have 5 minutes with my book. So now has to be what is coming up on radio 3, so I can sit down and shut my eyes and listen. Of course I listen while doing things too, but still enjoy sitting concentrating on just the music. So far today I have done well, with of course my Bach, but also some Benjamin Brittain, and earlier some Mozart so my personal concert will keep me company all day.

RosesandLilac, Your walk sounded lovely and wish I could see all those lovely flowers now, but hope you g et a bit of a rest as it sounds as though you are having a very busy day

Hope Marydoll doesnt need to resort to the secateurs again today!! Wishing you all a lovely day with good weather and success in whatever your plans are.

Good morning all and I was up so early, the heating hadn’t come on. Brrr!

School run again and then I have Bridge Club this afternoon.

Yesterday I booked a tip time and Dh took the old vacuum to be dumped. He was back in no time, saying ‘there was a queue and I don’t queue! ‘, so it’s back behind the bins in the garden. 🙄. I’ll take it today.

I bought my train tickets for my upcoming weekend away and will get the rest of my ‘stuff’ tomorrow.

Take care and keep warm. 🌱

Good morning from N Bucks , sunshine and a clear blue sky but cccccooooolllld! ❄️❄️❄️
I have woken up sneezing, with a streaming nose and eyes and as it’s way too early for hay fever I can only assume it’s a common (!) cold. I’ve also got a thick head so I may try to go back to sleep. Hardly life threatening, but making me grumpy. 🤧🤧🤧
Podiatrist at lunchtime then to White Stuff to pick up an order and maybe buy a new white shirt as mine is looking very tired but at present I don’t have the energy.
Wishing you all a pleasant-and maybe warmer- day ☀️💐

brook2704 Tue 18-Mar-25 07:26:28

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve blue sky and its forecast to be sunny all day
I’m not quite as busy as a lot of you today but I’m off to the gym first thing and then will be out pottering in the garden this afternoon
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A frost on the grass but the sun is blazing so it will soon clear to leave us a lovely day. I feel much better than yesterday. A light diet and lots of fluids put me right. I had a short walk in the late afternoon to buy some bread and came home with some polyanthus to go in a trough at the front door. I hate them, but DH loved them so I continue to plant them and they do look very jolly. I also sorted out a new warranty for my car.
School this afternoon. I shall walk. The route is along a green lane - quiet, with no traffic.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all from the Black country after a frosty start the sun is shining with clear blue skies.
Hairdressers today then DH needs to get a new headlight in the car.
Best wishes for a good day for everyone, and those with difficulties find it a little easier ☀️.

Good morning from bright and cool South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday was a good day. Our primary school children sang their little hearts out at Mass. they walked back to school and the adults had a lovely, chatty, happy hour in the hall over copious amounts of tea and rolls and sausages.

I wasn’t hungry when I met DH for lunch in our favourite cafe but managed a bowl of their delicious carrot soup.

Today is charity shop day which I’m looking forward to.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, more of the same forecast.

Yesterday was a busy one; yoga first then home and after lunch a good clean and tidy round upstairs and down. Dusted and vacuumed upstairs, then did the staircase, followed by cleaning the porch windows and floor.

More busyness ahead today! I am hosting a wine evening tomorrow and need to get the last few essentials for it from the supermarket this morning.
This afternoon I shall be cooking a ham and making sausage rolls. And then DD-out-law is picking up DGD's blazer which I have sewn a new badge on.

I also need to peruse A****n for a new bedside lamp, as mine woke me up in the middle of the.night wildly flashing - tried a new bulb in it this morning and it is completely dead.

Lots of busyness ahead today for quite a few people I read, so wishing all a good day

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s another lovely sunny morning but there’s a frost, so not a mild start. I went for my usual walk yesterday, did all my exercises twice and visited my friend with dementia. Not a lot else though, just sat and read.
Today I’m at DD1s keeping her dog company while DD1 and her DH are in the office. DD2 is also in the office but says she’ll collect the granddaughters from after school club.
rosesandlilac a busy day for you today, you’ll be glad to have a holiday!
cornergran well done for finding some suitable trainers!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a frosty W Kent. Awake early as the builders are coming soon. Now they have been on the roof of course more needs doing. They are also putting some handrails on the front and back steps, I watch friends totter up and down so presume I do the same. House day as I am busy the rest of the week
Best wishes

GrannyIvy Tue 18-Mar-25 07:02:34

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where is is a bright frosty morning.
Yesterday DH and I did a lovely 4.5 walk with lovely rural views through fields of sheep and cows felt like being on holiday.
Today I plan to go and buy the GC’s Easter eggs and potter before school pick up. May get a walk in at some point. Not much happening here really, a lazy gran today.
Happy Tuesday to all

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 18-Mar-25 06:48:29

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but still bitterly cold out. We leave in half an hour. School drop off and pick up is now for the whole week apparently. Oh well, it’s dry and we are here (not Málaga just yet) to help out.

I have a manicure at noon which I’m looking forward to.

Kalu Tue 18-Mar-25 06:43:46

Good morning all. -l deg. Sunny and dry today in Glasgow.

I didn’t do much of anything yesterday, as I housework change of bed linen and that was it. My mojo was on a break so I was happy to pick up my book and have a lazy day. After a rare full night’s sleep I feel more refreshed, ready to face the day, the best part being collecting GD2 from school and bring her here to polish up her French accent with me in preparation for her French oral exam later this week. It’s nice to feel needed now and again.

Best wishes to all for a good day and hopefully an easier day for all with difficulties of any form.

Grammaretto Tue 18-Mar-25 06:32:10

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where there's a frost.
I slept all night for a nice change.

Dentist this morning and Gaelic class early evening so I must do my homework. I have just enrolled for another term. for my sins

Yesterday I enjoyed doing some pottery with 2 friends and later helping a neighbour who doesn't drive to get rid of her garden waste. She was about to wheel it to the tip in a barrow but she had 4 overflowing black bin bags of twigs and prunings.

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 18-Mar-25 06:27:00

Morning all from a frosty West Oxfordshire.

Another admin morning beckons. I really want to get all my WI things sorted for tomorrow. I am out at a friend’s this afternoon and OH and I have a U3A lunch tomorrow.

OH is hoping to go to his Shooting club this evening. He hasn’t been for several weeks due to his health problems. He will visit his bees tomorrow if it’s sunny.

Have a good day everyone. Spring must be on its way.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 18-Mar-25 06:23:20

Morning it’s 4° and sunny here in my little corner of Essex, meant to reach 10° oh how I long for summer…

Washing machine needs feeding today, and I will potter around interspersed with leg resting.

School pick up and swimming lessons later.

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

cornergran Tue 18-Mar-25 06:21:59

Morning Mick, morning All. Looks frosty out there, a sunny day ahead if the forecast is right.

Yesterdays highlight was coming across some trainers that suit my very odd feet. Navy and white leather, soft, comfortable and as a bonus from a local independent shop. I’ve ‘only’ been looking for eighteen months. Daft I know but the purchase made my day

Routine ahead today, grocery delivery and dust removal. Laundry to hang out. Not exciting but satisfying.

Goodness roses you’ll meet yourself coming back as my Mum used to say.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Sallyforth Tue 18-Mar-25 06:20:33

Good morning Mick and all. It's a very cold 2C in Cheshire and frosty out there, but the sky is red in the east and a blackbird is singing his heart out on next door's roof. It's one of those mornings I'm glad to be retired and in no rush to get up and out there.

So many busy people on here this morning, when my day is simply TBA. I shall be off to the hairdresser at 1.00 and hope to return looking my pre-flu self. I lost a lot of weight and my face is very pale and drawn, Who IS that person looking back at me in the mirror? shock

Quick update on my sister in hospital, they have now decided they need to check her lungs. She wanted to go home for a few days until the op, but no. On the plus side, as a vegetarian, she says the meals are good. That's good to hear. If you're going to get well you need good nourishment.

So enjoy your busy, busy days, time with the grandchildren, your cycle rides, dog walking and baking marathons.

Kind thoughts to those who may be in pain or sad for whatever reason. flowers

Grandmabatty Tue 18-Mar-25 06:15:12

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and frosty. I remembered to put the cover on the car, so not much scraping required this morning. GrandMattie you are a kind neighbour. Rosesandlilac my goodness, that is a busy day.
Yesterday I did a couple of hours in the library and managed to slice open a finger. The boys were good before and after school but dgs2 was very upset because he broke his water bottle. That caused tears and a challenging journey home. He brightened up after he'd eaten. I think the issue is he doesn't like the nursery food and won't try anything different, so he has some bread and butter. The upshot is, he's starving when I get him and hangry.
Today I'm going to clean the windows. I bought a karcher to see if it works. I have never been able to get non smeary windows, so I'll see how this does. Drop off and pick up as usual. Have a good day all.

grandMattie Tue 18-Mar-25 05:57:47

Good morning from Bristol.
I glanced out of the kitchen window while boiling my kettle and saw the perfect sunrise - gentle nacreous colours in a clear sky. Today looks like it will be beautiful.
I must have been very tired as I have just woken up, rather than about three hours ago.
After we’d been to Tesco, mynew neighbour came round yesterday to ask about Wi-Fi; I said she was welcome to come over and use it, especially as I was going out. She couldn’t believe her ears! She came just as I was leaving to my WI meeting. Much easier for her to come when I’m out.
The talk was about “one’s colours”. Since most of us are nearly in our dotage and have figured out what suits us, I was trying not to sleep. Others seemed entranced.
When I came back (I didn’t linger as I was tired), her upstairs neighbour came round to ask about something. So all three of us had a cuppa and chat.
I had already made dinner, so it didn’t matter when they left. Quiet evening.
Another busy day baking for two things tomorrow. Also I have the assistant vica4 to dinner. She lives in Portishead, works in Bristol but has organised a prayer meeting in our church during Lent. I suggested she should dine here -easier than going backwards and forwards…
Have a good day, safe travels, have a peaceful day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, sunny and dry today

I am very ready for the clocks to change, I am in personal summer time for the whole year, always an early riser, always have been

I have a week with no appointments, I love being a free agent to do what I want when I want and today will definitely start with a cycle ride, ok a bit nervous as it will be via my own steam and up a hill but it is always the same after winter hibernation. I will lose some weight and feel more sprightly by summer and then cycling up hills becomes easier with less weight

I cannot paint my shed yet, I read the instructions and the temperature needs to be over 5 degrees, I don`t mind, I prefer the cycle ride anyway

The birds have just started to sing, I hear them and I think there is church bell practice later today, I love to hear those birds and bells

I will sit a bit longer then need to do stage 2 of my kefir. Salad lunch is already prepped in containers and it will be soup and a roll again at early teatime. Reading and a bit more sorting this afternoon, I think it is time I did paperwork today

Have a good day

Bellasnana Tue 18-Mar-25 05:43:15

Good morning from Malta where it is cloudy at present and a high of 17°C is forecast.

Had a good day with the boys yesterday, they are such sweet little chaps! They were jumping about on the sofa with littlest announcing ‘I making Nana laugh’.😄

I’m off again shortly and as they don’t have nursery today I hope to take them out to the park.

Wishing a good day to you all.☀️

Pantglas2 Tue 18-Mar-25 05:40:46

Good morning Mick, pleased to read your health is good and you’re able to go about your usual outings x

A check up on Mr PGs ear is on the cards this morning - it’s a year since our first cruise when it looked like I was accompanying Van Gogh to the Canaries 😂

Fell about laughing at Mr Marydoll’s misdemeanours yesterday that poor man seems to be encouraging his wife to enter the funniest short story competition doesn’t he!

Safe travels to Lanzarote and Wales - I’ve arranged 🌞 in the latter for the week 😇 and hope those with worries have some ease x

RosesandLilac Tue 18-Mar-25 05:40:24

Good morning from frosty south Glos, there’s ice on the car again.
Such a bitterly cold easterly wind yesterday, my eyes were streaming when out walking the dog. It was lovely out of the wind when we wandered along a very quiet lane with banks covered in primroses, snowdrops and wild garlic.
Today’s going to be hectic; I have a new mattress arriving between 8 and 10, we need to lug the old one downstairs for collection this evening. An online grocery shop is coming first thing with bits to take away with us tomorrow, there’s a log delivery this afternoon, I need to tidy through and vacuum (I hate coming back to muddle) make a cake for DD, go and get petrol and check the car tyres etc.
Then just finish packing a few bits and two dog walks.
That’s all!
I have woken up with a headache so not a good start, ho hum….
Let’s hope today goes smoothly for everyone 🌹
