Well it’s all done, moved!
Some great friends came and helped me clean everywhere.
The removal company took a large van load on Wednesday so today was more about the furniture, staff was brilliant, really careful and thorough.
The only thing we forgot were the meter readings but the new owners did them and sent them through.
We are at our holiday let all unpacked and about to book a table for dinner.
The stress is melting away, I just need some good painkillers for my back and a big glass of the champagne that’s chilling!
Thank you all for your good wishes.

Good luck with the move, you must have that wonderful feeling of relief and adventure.
We always sell before completing on the new house, it certainly helps with the stress. Sometimes we’ve rented in between or like you, gone to our second home.
Enjoy your new home.

There are a few times during the process of moving house when you wonder why you started it at all.

I am glad you can now see light at the end of the tunnel.

Good wishes for you and your husband when you finally get settled in your new home.

Great news Sago we did this last year. Downsizing from a large 4 bedroom town house was a lot of work but we couldn't be happier.

Enjoy your new home. It's worth all the hard work in the end.

Congratulations.
For anyone in a similar position, and having no alternative, negotiating a Licence to Occupy can be an option.

How lovely Sago to see your plans come to fruition albeit not as smoothly as you’d like!

All the best Sago

Hope the move goes smoothly you will be happy in your new home when you get in. Kind that you are not holding up your buyers.
My son has finally got his house after 8 months, three of which were simply waiting for his sellers to move out. No chain involved but they bought a new build that got delayed, after repeated requests from solicitors/agents and my son they finally gave in and put their stuff in storage and moved back with family. So frustrating for my son as he was ready to go last November, the original date agreed on!

Good luck Sago.

Good luck 🍀 sago.I did that on my own two years ago. It was horrible, but, as you say, hang on in there. It’ll be worth it in the end!

Thorntrees Fri 21-Mar-25 07:45:47

Good luck today.
We did the same a few years ago- not sure we could do it again- it’s so hard work.
We just had a week in a holiday let and the removal company kindly kept our belongings on the van
Wishing you lots of happiness in your new home.

Good luck with the move!

Good luck Sago. I always think of the scene in It's a Wonderful Life where George Bailey welcomed the Martini family to their new home with wine, bread and salt. May your new home, when you can access e, never lack flavour

Wishing you well sago think of the interim time until you move into you forever home as an extended holiday.

tanith Fri 21-Mar-25 07:36:52

Congratulation Sago hope all goes well today. Are you storing your belongings? My buyer wants me to do as you are doing and move out before completion of the chain, I can’t face moving twice and all that that would entail. You have my admiration for tackling it as you have. Best wishes to you.

lixy Fri 21-Mar-25 07:36:25

oh, good luck Sago. I hope your day goes well.
You can leave your home with pride, knowing it is ready for its new people.

Good luck we did it 4 years ago, again moving from a 3 storey house, what a palaver! Made worse still as the country hadn't emerged from Covid. In retrospect it all went fairly smoothly under the circumstances, we had an excellent removal team.

Best Wishes for your move Sago.

We put our home on the market 10 months ago and finally after many hurdles today is the day!

We have worked extremely hard to pack a large 3 storey house and garage, it’s been back breaking work.
Today the removal man arrive to load the vehicles and it’s suddenly feeling like it’s been worth all the effort and stress.

Unfortunately we cannot move into our new home as yet as a probate issue is holding up the chain but stage 1 is complete.

We will live between our holiday let and our daughters.

I want to say to anyone considering moving or going through a move stick with it.
