Smouldering Myeloma

Smouldering Myeloma is a type of blood cancer. Have any GN ladies had a diagnosis? Any advice welcomed. Tia

I was diagnosed with markers for Myeloma last August.
My GP told me that at 87 I was unlikely to be affected by it!!
I was told to have further blood tests to see if things had changed in November and to expect regular testing.
After the November tests I was told I was fine, no more testing recommended.
When I queried this I was told markers aren’t always present but I was to monitor my health and report any changes.

I frankly didn’t believe this but as I am ok apart from very acute tiredness at times I am going along with this.
I hope sincerely you will never have a worsening of your condition and you keep well.

My husband had multiple myeloma. I know quite a few people are diagnosed with smouldering myeloma and some go for years before it becomes active. In some cases it never develops any further but you will need regular testing to see what is happening. Have you found the UK Myeloma Support Group on Facebook? If you haven't I strongly recommend joining it. It's a great group of people and between them they will have answers for most of your questions, they are also good company if you're awake at 3am,
