soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.

I am struggling with the news that a much liked neighbour has a diagnosis of untreatable pancreatic cancer. How to support him and his dear wife is uppermost in my mind and I need to find a way to tell her to ask for and accept help - I thought I could do it all by myself and I was wrong. Very sad this evening despite the fact that my young decorator has done a splendid job on the water damaged kitchen and I can afford to pay for it without worrying.

Hello Kitcheners.Good to hear from you SoopHope you start to feel better soon.

Good luck with the move Brooke.

A very Happy Birthday Cornergran. Longleat was a very good choice hope you had a great day.🎉🎂🎈

I hate the dentist Jax,Im sure all will be fine.

Big hug Sue 🤞

Hoping Mr FGT is feeling better today still viruses around.

I’m hobbling around today doing, some packing for Monday,I now have🤕 some spectacular bruises and my arthritic knee is not happy.
Have a good evening all.

Hello everyone. grandmaC47, your poor hand looks so sore, I hope the swelling and bruising go down soon.

brook there are times when I think removable teeth would be useful!

soop I have a four wheel rollator which is fine, but it’s not comfortable to walk with on bumpy pavements or on rough ground generally. There are some with bigger wheels which are supposed to be all terrain rollators, but they are expensive - about £700 I believe! It might be worth the money if you go for long walks frequently.

brook I hope your DD’s house move goes well tomorrow.

DD2 has told me that I can put the littlest’s high chair in the skip, sad that she’s growing up so quickly. At two and a half she’s at a lovely age, but ‘no’ is her favourite word at the moment. A lot of her scruffy outgrown baby toys are in the skip, not good enough to go to the charity shop, they’ve already been used by four grandchildren!

Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners, my goodness you are a busy lot! MrB and I have been for a bimble down to the lock gates, It’s lovely and warm in the sun after a quite chilly start. Time for a snooze before tea, I seem to have very little energy these days.

Good to hear from you Soop, there are many off road rollators available but they seem quite pricey. My tri walker is quite a basic model but it’s getting me out and about.

Love and good wishes to you all x ♥️

soop Thu 08-May-25 15:12:07

GrandmaC47 Goodness gracious and all that...do chill (as they say) and get better soon. flowers

FGT your message made me splutter. grin

I am researching sturdy all-terrain rollators. The one that I am using comes to an abrupt halt if it as much as hits a pebble. I miss the long rambles that Mr Soop enjoyed on a daily basis. So...onward and hopefully forward when I discover just the job.

Sunshine continues here in bonnie Scotland. My wish is that it shines upon you lovely lot. Bless you all.

brook2704 Wed 07-May-25 22:52:25

Goodness Grandmac47 that does look sore, I hope it’s heals quickly
Thank you for the kind comments about my gym friend, she’s being kept in hospital overnight, but should be ok
One of my friends has really lovely straight white teeth Redcar but she takes them out at night!
I know the feeling Jax when something you’re dreading gets cancelled, relief at first but like you say more time to fret again. I hope it’s not too bad when you do go for your appointment
I’ve been round to DD2s this evening, I wasn’t planning to go but she called with a bit of an emergency. All sorted now and getting geared up for moving day on Friday - She’s stressed though and don’t I know it….🫣

Grran Wed 07-May-25 22:28:02

Goodbess me GrandmaC47 that looks so sore! I do hope that it settles down quickly.

I’m sorry to hear of people’s worries re loved ones. May tomorrow bring more hope to the kitchen.

This afternoon I have been sewing with my late friend’s lovely daughter, which was so lovely.

G’night all.

Georgesgran Wed 07-May-25 20:29:36

Pleased to hear from the Soops. I, for one, was beginning to worry.
Roller Coaster should be in the OED as a description of the lives of those affected by a cancer diagnosis FGT

That looks sore GrandmaC47. I took my wedding ring off last night to clean it and forgot to put it back on - it’s been a strange feeling today without it.

GrandmaC47 Wed 07-May-25 19:57:03

Ouch! Just had a walk to our (convenient) fire station to have my ring cut off. Granddog made a break for freedom and I managed to wrench my arthritic finger trying to stop her 😂
At least our lovely cleaner will be here tomorrow so I can rest it.
Hope those under stress get relief soon, and everyone has a restful evening. I would join the wine drinker but I gave up 3 months ago in an effort to lose weight but I’ve only managed 3lbs off in 8 weeks 😢 I may succumb.

Redcar Wed 07-May-25 19:53:47

fgt I hope your DH is feeling better soon.

soop sorry that you’re feeling a bit under the weather at the moment and hope you soon feel a bit better.

I spent most of the day trying to persuade my Ring doorbell to go online again and do what it’s supposed to. I managed it eventually but now don’t trust it to stay on!
I lost a filling while eating dinner - an omelette! I think it will be ok until my next appointment early June for a crown preparation. Fortunately I don’t mind going to the dentist as I have horrible teeth.
grandmabatty I used to love the Miss Marple programs with Joan Hickson.

Night night everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 07-May-25 19:35:40

FGT I am in my dressing gown, the kitchen is tidied and the dishwasher is on. I'm shortly going to watch an old episode of Miss Marple starring Joan Hickson. I'll make a cuppa just before it starts. Brook that must have been upsetting for you. I hope the lady is ok.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 07-May-25 18:58:32

Don’t we all just love hearing how us Kitcheners are spending their evenings? I know I do. I find it soothing. A little oasis.

Jaxjacky Wed 07-May-25 18:53:09

A mixed news kitchen tonight, hugs to soop to get better soon.
Hopefully a minor blip FGT
Good news for kitty 👍
How annoying GrannySomerset but you got there.
I was relieved , for the daftest of reasons, my dentist cancelled my checkup, I know, it’s daft, but there’s work to be done and I really, really dislike it. It’s next week now, more time to fret🙂
Back into the routine brook good to see you back, I hope your sleep cycle is sorted and the gym lady is fine.
Just watered the greenhouse, a cloud/sun day, beautiful now, I’d best get on with dinner 👋👋

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 07-May-25 18:49:57

soop you more than likely underplay things bless you so I expect you feel like sh*t really. You know how much we all care. Your kitchen is all the poorer for us thinking how you are struggling. If good wishes could improve things you’d be home and dry dear lady.

kitty delighted for you. 👏

brook2704 Wed 07-May-25 18:44:01

Hoping your DH feels a bit better tomorrow fgt 💐

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 07-May-25 18:37:56

‘Evening All’.

Not the best of days for Himself (thank you for caring) but not the worst by a long chalk either. He had a pj day until 5pm, paracetamol and we went out in the tea time warmth for a stroll which he enjoyed and made me less pensive. Hey ho. To be honest if he hadn’t had good news from his scan a month ago I’d have been on high doh. Living with cancer is a real rollercoaster. It’s ’always there’.

SueDonim I truly feel for you right now as it’s not what you wanted to hear. It never is. However with a bit of luck and a good push, your son will soon be smiling with more reassuring news. 🤞

I’ve just taken this photo from our little balcony at 7pm (hour ahead) of a cruise ship which will be heading ▶️ to Gibraltar. You can just see it on the horizon. Málaga of course is ◀️ that away.

Love to all, especially those struggling tonight and anxious. I get you.

Nannytopsy Wed 07-May-25 18:19:05

That’s good news Kitty! I remember the eye clinic there as always busy!
A group hug for Soop!

brook2704 Wed 07-May-25 18:18:14

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s been a lovely warm day up here in Inverness, same weather as you I think grandmabatty 😎
I was at the dental hygienist first thing for the usual scraping and poking, she’s a lovely young lady and always tries her best not to inflict any pain. I got the usual talking to about flossing, a single tufted brush and everything else I should be doing. And no I don’t really want to invest in a water flosser!
Then this afternoon I met with a group of ladies I’ve known for quite a while, ex gym buddies. Unfortunately one of them was taken ill and an ambulance had to be called, it was all quite sudden and upsetting but I hope she’s doing ok 🙏
Good news from the eye clinic kitty 👍
How frustrating grannysomerset, hope it’s sorted now
Sending you gentle hugs soop and to everyone else in the quiet corner, take care all x

GrannyGravy13 Wed 07-May-25 17:44:16

That’s reassuring news kitty 👍

Sending you both (((hugs))) soop

Thinking of SueD’s DS

I hope himself is feeling better after a restful day FGT2

DH is off out soon, I shall cook myself some fish and prepare a big bowl of salad, might even have a glass of vino blanco con hielo and pretend I am in sunny Spain.

Night Night 👍

kittylester Wed 07-May-25 16:59:50

Sending lots of love to the Soops. I hope you feel better soon.

I spent the morning at the Eye Clinic. It was bedlam - it always is - but it seemed so much worse today. The staff were brilliant though - good humoured and kind. And, luckily, there has been no change in my scans etc so no need to start the eye injections yet.

GrannySomerset Wed 07-May-25 16:47:19

Have spent most of the day on the phone dealing with a hacked email account. Frustrating in the extreme but am hoping all is well now. I have typed my own name so many times I have begun to hate it, but am grateful for the patient women on the BT helpline who have eventually sorted it out. Will need a large glass of something once the kitchen is sorted out (painter still at work).

Grandmabatty Wed 07-May-25 16:30:59

Good afternoon Kitcheners. Soop a big, gentle hug to you from me. Ladyleftfieldlover your cake sounds delicious, as does the ice cream.
Today I had a nice catch up with friends. We sat and blethered and had tea and cake. I lay down in the afternoon and read which was very enjoyable. I feel I have a cold sore starting which is annoying. My tyre pressure warning light came on, so that's a job for tomorrow morning. I think dinner tonight will be the last of the gammon with salad again. Very boring but I need to use it up and clear my fridge for a big delivery on Sunday.
The weather here was very cloudy but it lifted before lunch and has been glorious sunshine since. It does make me feel so happy. Enjoy your evening all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 07-May-25 16:11:19

Love and a hug to the Soops.🪻

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 07-May-25 16:10:40

Hello kitchen people. I’m thinking of SueD and the FGT2S.

Our decorators came today and started repainting the front of the house in a sort of a dark terracotta! It looks good. They will finish tomorrow.

It was the WI coffee morning and there were quite a bunch of us there. It’s good to chat to people I don’t normally see.

When I got home I whipped up a batch of chocolate peppermint ice cream. It is my granddaughter’s favourite and she finished it at the weekend. I also made a Diane Henry recipe which I’ve made before - chocolate/raspberry/almond cake.

I caught up with my V&A course too and listened to a talk on the Georgians.

OH is watching what he calls an important football match tonight so after dinner (salmon in some form) I’ll listen to the lat st Rest is Politics podcast.

Have a good rest of the day. I’m shattered!

soop Wed 07-May-25 13:57:30

Dear SueD a gentle hug is being sent to you and your dear son from me.

Sorry to be absent but I'm feeling a tad out of sorts.

I do hope that you lovely lot are continuing to enjoy the marvellous sunshine. Our garden, thanks to Mr Soop is a picture to behold.

I shall now retire to the quiet corner. My love is winging it's way to every Kitchener.
