soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.
Sorry grannmarie I misread your post and thought it was a DGS who stayed with you. Apologies to you and your DGD!
Grannmarie good to hear from you, how kind of your granddaughter on a difficult day.
A quiet day, had thoughts of gardening, it was cold, then light drizzle, I came in and put the heating on!
Watched the VE fly past, then some snooker, wished M&S were functioning again.
Quiz tonight, surprisingly busy, those youngsters keep winning 😏
My son had to have his cat pts, he’s upset, cat was not even two, vet said poison caused a bleed, a difficult day for them.
Evening All’.
And here we are, back in our happy place, 21°C and an hour ahead - so it’s 10:45pm now. We are sitting on the balcony for ten minutes before bed. It is lovely to be back. Not sure if we got diddled in the taxi here from the airport. It’s usually about €25 and Himself always rounds it up to €30. However the taxi driver asked for €39 which seems a lot! Is it because it’s after 10pm. No idea. We gave €40 (no choice really) but it seemed such a lot since 6 weeks ago …we will ask folk we know tomorrow! 🤔
Hello all
It’s been a chilly but busy day here. I didn’t have enough clothes on this morning and got quite chilly so wrapped up this afternoon.
I’ve been to choir practice this evening, running through everything in readiness for our VE day concert.
Sleep well, all .
Nice to see you Grannmarie. Hope you are OK.
GG, I can manage my drawers but if you could fit in DH's study after Topsy's.
I had a lovely day yesterday. My choir sang at a Gardener's Market in our local town. The market was great and we made quite a bit of money for our charity which is for AMD Research.
Today was less fun. I followed a new recipe from the Waitrose Magazine which wasn't entirely successful. I'm blaming the recipe!!
A quieter day today after yesterday’s exertions clearing the garage. I went to the May Fair in the local park this morning, it was cold, grey and very windy so I didn’t stay long, bought a few things from a craft stall then came home. I should have gone this afternoon as the weather was much better! Did a little ironing and also potted on my tomato plants. I have too many as usual and, as usual when they’re repotted, they all wilted. They should recover by tomorrow 🤞. I need to plant french bean seeds, but am running out of suitable window ledges.
grannmarie comforting to have family with you on your DH’s birthday and how kind of your GS to stay with you.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.
GG can you sort my underwear drawer too please? 🤣
And then I have lots more cupboards to sort when you are ready!
We are so busy - I don’t really know why but retirement isn’t what I expected in some ways!!
Good evening Kitcheners. I've had a nice day. Housework and ironing this morning then a visit to dd and the boys this afternoon. Once home, my very wobbly and sore tooth came out! I'm glad as it was giving me gip. Gammon salad with roast baby potatoes for dinner. I'm relaxing on the couch watching rubbish on the tv. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners
Cooking dinner after an extremely lazy day.
We watched the VE event on TV, I sorted out my underwear drawer and swopped daytime handbag.
Thinking of our friends in the quiet corner and wishing the FGT’s a safe and seamless journey to their happy place.
Night night 🙋♀️
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Just a quick hello 👋 to everyone, from my quiet corner, where I am dozing a lot thanks to pain meds. Hoping for some physio soon to help with my limited movement.
Thinking of everyone in this special Kitchen, trying to keep up with your news. Sorry for no individual mentions just now, just wanted to wish
safe journeys to all travelling and/ or on
Family visits 🌞✈️
love and prayers to those with illness, worries or sorrow. 💕🙏
Yesterday was DH's birthday. The family all came to remember him with me. It was so strange that we were all together and he wasn't there, but the boys sang Happy birthday for him before they left. DGD, 13, stayed over to ' look after ' me! We sat up late watching Malory Towers, then we had a long lie this morning. Lovely.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening. TOYA.
nannytopsy it was 40+ years of accumulated “just in case” stuff to get rid of! It took me a while to get to sleep last night and I read your post at about 1.30 while drinking a warm decaf coffee & eating a biscuit. I slept very soon after that and hope you did too!
That sounds like a good day LLFL and a very satisfying one for Redcar. I am fond of a good sort out. We need to do some sorting here. It’s over 5 years since we moved and there is quite a lot of “ just in case “ stuff that we really don’t need. I still have a lot to do in the garden - oh for those days when this would all get done in a couple of days. A week of rain would give me a chance to do the inside jobs!
Sleep tight everyone! 💤
Hello kitchen people.
I’ve had what is known as a full on day.
My granddaughter insisted on a drawing competition. This time the theme was self portraits. That took a while. Then we all piled in son’s car and set off for White Horse Hill. It was very busy and wi dy. we had OH’s kite with us and granddaughter was keen to fly it. And fly it did, straight into a hedge. It took OH and son a while to release it.
Back home we realised it was too chilly and windy for a barbecue. So son and I cooked everything up in the kitchen. I had already made some clotted cream ice cream and we had that with strawberries and chocolate sauce which I made yesterday. We were all absolutely stuffed so collapsed in front of the television and watched an old episode of the pottery off.
Sleep 💤 tight.
A very busy day today, both DDs and their families arrived just after 10.00 to start clearing my garage. I had thought that DD1 and family wouldn’t arrive until 12.00 but the ten year old didn’t go for her swimming lesson, so they were able to come earlier. By 11.00 the contents of the garage were spread on the lawn and drive and decisions had to be taken as to what to keep or what to put in the skip! Both sons in law took a bag of tools home, the skip is full and the garage satisfyingly clean and tidy.
Then they went into the loft where both DDs found bags of their stuff! Most of it came down and has been taken home with them although some went into the skip. I’ve got boxes of stuff to sort through too. But there’s a lot more in the loft for another day!
Then we all went to the pub for a drink and for the grandchildren to let off steam in the playground! We had to sit in the garden as we had the dog with us and it was cold.
Tomorrow there’s a May Fair in the local park, which I may go to, back and ankle pain permitting!
fgt my food order yesterday (Ocado) was short of a few M&S items, so their cyber attack is affecting all branches of their business. I hope your stepfather enjoys his change of diet!
I hope the weather in Malaga improves for you! Enjoy your happy place.
Night night all.
I’m cold, such a change in temperature here with a keen wind, plants are tucked up for the night.
A quiet day, potted on a few plants, watched a little snooker and lost yet again in the meat draw. There’s a street party across the road, I took some warm sausage rolls over earlier then retreated, oh to be 20 odd years younger!
😁 🧙
Evening Fgt I’m watching The Antique Roadshow devoted to memories of VE day, don’t know what made me look on here. You must have sent out vibes 😂.
Crikey it’s quiet in here tonight! Where are you all?
‘Evening All’.
M&S food hall with my stepfather was challenging as some of his favourite items weren’t available. “On the way soon’ said the labelling on the shelves. He chose some different groceries and said “this’ll shake my taste buds up a bit!”.
I’m going to make a mug of Horlicks and continue reading ‘Conclave’ on my Kindle. Himself is settling down to watch the USA Grand Prix race in Miami.
I hope you’re successful in getting your bus route changed cornergran. Our local bus company changes our bus route regularly, sometimes the buses go through the village, then it’s changed to leave out most of the village and just go along the main road. Sometimes the bus drivers forget which way they’re supposed to go!
nannytopsy I hope you got to sleep eventually!
Thank you Cornergran, I had a lovely day! I made a few scones and bought some clotted cream as a treat, which we enjoyed. ( Jam first, then cream here!) In the evening we went for an Indian meal in a relatively new Indian restaurant , which does street food. It was delicious!
Now I can’t sleep - my brain is fretting about stuff to be done.
Our village and others around challenged bus route changes successfully, so I hope you can get yours sorted.
Thinking of Brook and all those with worries about their other halves. Love to you all
Hope your birthday was good nannyt
Love your walker blossoming. So pleased for your progress
I’ve been thinking about you brook.
A wonderful day for you all fgt. A happy family time for you too ladylfl.
We ventured to the sea front today, eventually, the bus route has been changed which means our local, bus no longer goes there. The nearest stop is too far away for a comfortable walk for me so we went via coffee shops. Mr C was very happy
. A lot of angry people about the bus change, it’s a busy and well used route. Or it was. Noticeably less busy today. The MP is involved, we can only hope what seems to many to be a retrograde step, will be rectified.
I must try for sleep, gardening is on my list for tomorrow. Sleep well everyone. Goodnight.
Hello kitchen people.
I’m exhausted! Elder son and his family arrived a little early, which is fine. Our granddaughter (9 yesterday!) is such a delight. They are only staying for one night but she spent some time preparing her room and organising everything just as she likes it.
We had her favourite spag Bol for dinner. We are now all in bed. Son is doing a barbecue tomorrow. It shouldn’t rain but may be a bit windy!
I hope all goes well for Brook.
Sleep 💤 tight.
‘Evening All’.
What a wonderful time we all had over at younger daughter and son in law’s at tea time. Eleven of us altogether for a hot buffet and when our daughter placed the celebration cake with lit 7 and 3 candles in front of Himself, having asked Alexa to play Stevie Wonder’s “Happy Birthday” I felt so happy and blessed that we could all join in to witness this occasion. Sadly it’s not granted to everyone and we all knew how fortunate we were round that table in that moment.
Blossoming how brilliant is your walker? And how clever to cover your identity with an emoji! Super idea.
brook all the best for the memorial service in a few hours’ time. Such a long journey but your brother will appreciate the effort you’ve both made to support and comfort him.
I am shattered, The Imp has just gone home, I am going to bed.
Will try and catch up tomorrow 🙋♀️
blossoming your walker looks great, I love the colour! I’ve got a 4 wheeled one which is dark green. It’s great to be able to get out and about under your own steam isn’t it? As long as you put the brakes on before you sit down you’re absolutely fine!
nannytopsy I hope you’ve had a lovely birthday.
grran welcome back.
I’ve got family coming for a snack type lunch tomorrow and have made some brownies. I’ve put some in the kitchen, please help yourselves.
Have a peaceful evening everyone - hope there won’t be a bonfire tonight nannytopsy!
