soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.

Talking of big knickers, I have had to have a six month course of 4 weekly injections several times. These were usually into the stomach, so my choice of undies were plain sloggi thongs as I was laying down and the back couldn’t be seen, and they had good coverage at the front.

Roll on one appointment when my GP was called away and the other young partner administered it, he asked me to turn over and injected straight into my exposed buttocks.

To add insult to injury when we walked up to the local Indian that night our GP and the doctor who administered my injection where on the next table with their wives…

Good grief... It didn't matter what Knicks I wore....apparently because I was on hospital for 4 days within the last year ( fractured knee) I needed to be swabbed and checked for some bug that dwells happily in people's guts but can cause problems after surgery. Having been swabbed up each nostril and then both groins...I was a bit smug at this point having found a pair of bigger knickers....not exactly Bridget Jones but the coverage was more precise if you know what I mean!!!!!) and Then she said I just need a swab from your.....back passage... Fear made the words ...I haven't got one nearly fall out of mouth. Humour is my go to mostly when faced with dodgy situations. She then said would you like me to do it....( She looked about 12 I should add). I managed to squeak back...no thank you I'll be fine. Ladies I wasnt but I am not going to go into any further detail. Suffice to say I waddled out of there. 😱😱😱😱

I think the op must be getting nearer as I've been given the body wash stuff that has to be used for 5 days before...and to tell DH that the op will take at least 4 hours as it's not as simple as putting in a new hip joint. I wasn't going to drink tonight....but I am now.

Group hug would be lovely, soop. I'm usually right next to you in the quiet corner but pop out every now and again.

This time to wish NN luck for her op and to srnd love to all in need.

We have had a lovely few days with DD2 and her girls and fun went up a notch yesterday as we were joined by DD3 and Persie. We watched Joseph, ate crisps, drank wine and may have joined in a little too loudly. We maybe out sang our next door neighbours who are actual trained singers in touring musicals. Oops.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 17-Apr-25 18:08:45

Fingers crossed you will not have to wait long now Naughtyneine

I have at last got sorted for Centre Parcs tomorrow yippee!

I have also got several piles of clothes ready to be packed when I return for my trip to Spain the next day.

I shall be rather busy for the next couple of weeks, so might not post regularly.

Wishing you all a Happy Easter 🐣🐰🍫

😂😂 Sorry, GG13. Your story reminded me of the anti-D jabs I had to have after the births of each of my kids (also each miscarriage). They were usually in my bum if I recall. TBH, I didn't care. Dignity is out the window immediately after childbirth. Definitely a hey ho moment for you.

I'll join in the group hug. Just been to Iona to walk on beaches and machair and to talk to DD whose ashes were taken there.

Good evening dear Kitcheners and a special welcome to Soop. Of course we will have a group hug!

It's been an absolutely beautiful day here and I'm sat in our sunny kitchen enjoying the birdsong from the garden. MrB ytook me for a drive out to Lytham, so good to get out and I'm feeling great. We went out early and drove home via Blackpool sea front, through Cleveleys and Fleetwood, then along country lanes to Riversway. Once home we scoffed toast and jam and drank coffee. Later on I finished off the.delicious Kennedys mocha chocolate.

Definitely nothing wrong with my appetite today! Pasta for tea, probably with a Bolognese sauce.

There will be steam trains running tomorrow, so depending on how we're both feeling and the weather we may take the wheelchair for a walk, wave at some trains and snap a few pics.
I'll sleep well tonight ♥️💤

‘Ecening All’.

A group hug would be wonderful soop for us all. Better than chocolate and that’s saying something! You are both having to deal with so much. Thoughts with Baggs too over the Easter period.

Trust uttb has arrived home safely back in Stockport after visiting family. Neine I’ve missed what your op is? Is it actually a new hip? 🤔

Glad you’re good to go now GG13 hope you have a brilliant time with your family at Centre Parcs. Go carefully now woman! Think about where you’re planting your feet please.

We are babysitting. Himself has taken the children on a bike ride which is pretty amazing, considering. I’ve just run a bath ready for L’il Miss. she’s been practicing today in the garden with the skipping rope I bought her yesterday and apparently 21 skips is now her personal best. Love it!

👋 to all sitting in the quiet corner tonight. I hope your worries and concerns lessen over the coming weekend.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 17-Apr-25 18:40:36

Oh Blossoming that sounds a perfect day! You sound so upbeat and happy! And look at that glorious blue sky … no wonder your spirits rose today. Enjoy your pasta!

Redcar Thu 17-Apr-25 19:28:01

Hello everyone. A busy day for me, a quick trip to the garden centre for dog biscuits for DD1’s dog and some garden vouchers for both daughters instead of Easter eggs. Then on to have a quick chat to DD2, and on to keep said dog company while DD1 and family went to the Science Museum. The dog walker took the dog out and I came home to have my hair done.

neine what an awful pre op assessment for you! I hope you don’t have to wait too long for your operation.

grannygravy have a great time at Center Parcs with your family this weekend and again in Spain!

soop a group hug sounds perfect, please can I join in?

blossoming what a lovely day for you!

Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Thu 17-Apr-25 19:31:20

Hi all, I know you’re feeling better Blossoming you’ve mentioned the trains, delighted to hear it.
I had a wander and coffee earlier today with a friend, charity sops in an upmarket Hampshire village, I resisted!
Then our friend rang from local Dr surgery, could I take him to A&E, I was trying to drive sensibly, but my my anxiety kicked in big time. GP said heart problem ‘ambulance or a friend’ he chose me, I wish he’d chosen ambulance, I returned home wobbly, not heard from him yet.
That sounds selfish, I’ll join in the hug please

Nannytopsy Thu 17-Apr-25 20:13:10

That was more excitement than you wanted Jax!
We have been busy today with a charity cafe duty ( £160!) and the opticians and Tesco. I came home and fell asleep!
DH is just finishing off our meal bless him.
I’m up for the hug too!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 17-Apr-25 20:27:28

Hope your friend is okay later when you gets news Jax. 🤞

SueDonim Thu 17-Apr-25 21:11:50

Right back atcha, Soop. Group hugs to all who want them. ❤️
I hope the roses recover, Cornergran. 🌹
I’m wincing on your behalf, Neine, that sounds agonising. flowers Just a little secret between you and me - I managed to put my knickers on sideways yesterday. It really wasn’t very comfortable! 😳
Thinking of you, Baggs. flowers
How lovely that you’re feeling so much better, Blossoming,.
Yikes, Jax, never mind your friend, that doesn’t sound too good for your heart! flowers

I think I’ve missed out some folk but Easter wishes to you all anyway. Enjoy the holidays. Xx

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 17-Apr-25 21:34:35

You too SueDonim. 😊
We are home from babysitting. Mug of Horlicks made.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 17-Apr-25 21:42:56

Hello kitchen people.

I’ll join the group hug too!

I made the Simnel cake today. It wasn’t cool enough to finish off so I’ll do that tomorrow.

My successor as WI Secretary popped round to collect the last box of documents. That’s everything now.

I was supposed to go to a U3A talk on Rembrandt but my hay fever came back with a vengeance! I stayed home and downloaded a multitude of photographs onto my pc.

Tonight, while OH watched football, I put headphones on and listened to a podcast with R Stewart and A Campbell about the USA, China and those b*****d tariffs.

Have a good evening.

brook2704 Thu 17-Apr-25 22:28:20

Looks gorgeous LLFL (and very professional!).

Aldom Fri 18-Apr-25 12:33:12

Your Simnel cake is lovely, Llf.
smile

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 18-Apr-25 13:01:51

Thank you!

Usedtobeblonde Fri 18-Apr-25 13:29:12

That is a super cake LLFL and such a beautiful plate.

I am back from my jolly, it was lovely to see my family but oh so tiring.
I was made very aware of my worsening mobility as was my D.
The travelling was long but assistance was as ever so efficient and trouble free.
I was in bed by eight last night and lingered in bed this morning but eventually had to get up for the Sainsbury’s delivery.

My GS’s are here, have been for a week but they are no trouble, also not a lot of help but if they don’t involve me I am ok with it.

Kindest thoughts to those for whom Easter weekend is the same old, same old.
Caring, ill or just not able to enjoy, However Happy Easter to you all.
