soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.

Good to hear your DH is being seen quickly Fgt safe travels home and hope all goes well on Monday
Thank you all for your kind wishes on DD2s house move. All has gone well today, the old house eventually emptied and thoroughly cleaned and the new house awaits. I think she’ll find it difficult to fit everything into the new smaller house but will see. We’ve ended up with a garage load of stuff that she may or may not want. But overall it’s been good and I hope she can happily settle there and start afresh. A big change for the DGC too, I hope they settle in ok. It’s closer to their school so now they’re 10 and 11 they might be able to walk home by themselves!
I agree Tilly, I think I’ll find it very strange driving a different direction to her house - hope the car behaves
Good to hear you’ve been out and about again Blossoming well done 👍
I’m happy for you both neine 🥰

Jaxjacky Fri 09-May-25 19:23:23

Great Blossoming you’ve the weather for a stroll.
I’m pleased brook your daughter and her children have come a long way, hopefully your garage won’t be occupied for too long!
Hulahoop good luck.
Another dry day, I know the majority like the sunshine, which we’ve had until it clouded over, but I would like some rain please, overnight is fine 🙂
A housework morning - boring - then online money stuff, Tesco delivered and we’ve just been to the pub. Happy people enjoy their drinks and chats at the end of their working week, I remember that, being retired the weeks have a different shape.
I’m going to try and get the family together for a bbq at the next bank holiday, could be tricky.
FGT May you both have a good flight home tomorrow, we’re all rooting for you two xx
Hello quiet corner, you’re not forgotten either 🌹

Grandmabatty Fri 09-May-25 19:58:42

I'm glad the move went well brook. The children will get used to it, I'm sure.

Grran Fri 09-May-25 22:15:36

FGT glad you’re able to get home and to the Christie quickly. Thinking of you.

SueDonim what a difficult day. Sending you a hug.

cornergran Fri 09-May-25 22:35:22

We’re home. Much as I loved it all I always look forward to being back and sleeping in my own, far from perfect, bed. I know it and it knows me. smile.

Good news about the annulments neine. A relief for you both I’m sure.

I thought I’d never settle here brook, like your daughter less space. Good news the move has gone well so far, settling in will feel challenging at first I’m sure but once everything essential has found a home it’s different. I love our tiny bungalow now and I’m sure your daughter will love her new home.

Good luck getting the family together jax. Busy lives can and do get in the way. We’re only 7 on Sunday, two are trundling round Australia, somehow two less felt a whole lot easier. No idea why as the missing two are far from difficult about these things.

Congratulations blossoming on a successful stroll. It’s heartening to hear how much stronger you are.

My eyes are closing. Apologies once more to those I’ve not mentioned by name. Rest assured I think of you all. Night night.

Good afternoon Kitcheners. What a beautiful day we have sat on the terrace for most of it,packing nearly done now.I’m still quite stiff and sore but it is improving.DS2 is doing a BBQ later so no cooking tonight.
Very pleased the move went well Brook I hope your family will be happy in the new home.
Very good news for you *Neine at last you can move on.😃

Special hugs to SueD and our dear Fgt and himself ,hoping they are now home and feel safe.🌹

Have a good evening all.

Grandmabatty Sat 10-May-25 18:13:30

Good evening Kitcheners. Yiayia are you heading to Corfu? It's my favourite Greek island.
This morning I was up early, stripped the bed and got the sheets washed and hung out before eight o'clock. Then I drove to Stirling to meet my son for coffee/breakfast. We walked to the park nearby and had a nice catch up. The park and surrounding houses are lovely: very traditional large houses and many trees. It's so peaceful. He blethered lots too. He is a very busy man and has been promoted to Director of the law firm he works for. I'm very proud. Once home, I nipped to Aldi for bread and milk and something for dinner. This afternoon I ironed pillow cases etc and remade the bed and cleaned the bathroom. So fairly busy. I've had a gin and tonic with ice and the dinner is in the oven. I'm about to have another gin. All the best to you all.

brook I’m pleased your DDs move passed off without incident. I expect she’s busy unpacking now and getting things to her liking. I hope the GC settle in well.

neine such good news for you both!

yiayia I hope you feel better and recover in time for your holiday.

Another lovely day here, with a slightly warmer wind. I sat out in the garden this afternoon but am now suffering with sore eyes and a runny nose, I had an anti histamine tablet this morning but there’s obviously a lot of pollen about at the moment. Did a little weeding, got some washing dry outside and cleaned the bathroom, I’m tired now and waiting for my DDs to tell me if I’m seeing them tomorrow!

I hope the.fgts have had a good journey home.

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Blossoming Sat 10-May-25 20:02:06

We didn’t go for a walk today as my semi paralysed leg was not playing! Concentrated on doing some strengthening exercises instead. I think FGT2 and her DH may be home by now, wishing them lots of love and hope everything goes well on Monday xx
Goodnight all ♥️🌹

brook2704 Sat 10-May-25 20:12:14

So pleased that the catch up with your son went well grandmabatty and good to hear he’s doing so well, you must be very proud of him
Thank you all for your kind comments about DD2s move. We’re just back from there, helping to unpack many boxes and find a home for things. DGD has already been playing outside up and down the cul de sac on her scooter. Not sure if she’s found a friend yet though. As it’s a new build there’s no curtains or blinds so she’s making do with a quick temporary fix of sticking up curtains with tape etc ! I managed to eventually locate the kettle and tea bags for a cuppa. There’s no washing machine yet either so a load of washing brought back here to sort out 😳 We’ll be busy sorting things for the next few days I expect
Thinking of kitchen pals in the quiet corner, take care all x

Scapa1 Sat 10-May-25 20:21:56

Grandama Batty so good that you are continuing to be in touch with your son. Kings Park maybe? Another lovely day here nice walk round Doune Ponds hoped to see the new cygnets but mum was hiding them!

brook2704 Sat 10-May-25 20:31:59

Lovely to see you here Scalpa1 hope you’re doing ok

Jaxjacky Sat 10-May-25 20:56:49

Keeping you busy brook
Ironing pillow slips Grandmabatty does folding count? Well done to your son.
I’ve had a pretty lazy day, newspaper, hoeing the weeds and the greenhouse now has large filled tubs for tomatoes, grow from seed and still small they’ll soon shoot up. I ventured to the garden centre about 4:30 so not too busy, they’d run out of watering cans, not good enough.
I expect FGT and himself are hunkered down awaiting Monday, waiting is hard ❤️

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 10-May-25 22:33:28

Hello kitchen people.

I’ve had a lovely day. My daughter treated me to a belated birthday lunch at one of my favourite restaurants in London. We then walked up to the National Portrait Gallery and saw the Face exhibition. It was brilliant and highly recommended. We didn’t have time to go next door to the National Gallery so had tea in the new members room at the NPG.

I was home by 8 pm. OH had spent the day cleaning his guns, cutting the lawn and cooking himself duck legs for his dinner.

Sleep 💤 tight, especially the FGT2S.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-May-25 10:01:43

Jaxjacky it's an unusual occurrence for me to iron pillow cases! These particular ones were very crumpled in my defence. I rarely iron. When I was younger, mum would make me do the family ironing and I hated it. She ironed everything! Tea towels, towels, socks, underwear and even tights(under a tea towel)!

cornergran Sun 11-May-25 10:06:31

I love ironing grandmab, not tights though grin.

Have a good day everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 11-May-25 10:07:46

I feel better Grandmabatty, I had a mother in law like that. The iron and I are not well acquainted, MrJ does all of his and I occasionally sneak an item in, I work on the theory that body heat disperses most creases.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-May-25 10:56:52

Cornergran mum was a nightmare! After I was married and had children, ironing was such a chore with the amount of shirts to iron, that I paid someone to do it. It was worth every penny ☺️

soop Sun 11-May-25 15:24:15

Sunny Sunday greetings to you lovely lot.

We have been busy researching a variety of mobility aids, as I am now unable to manage with many tasks aboot the hoos. Scoliosis, fibromyalgia, ancient hip replacements and a bloody big/weighty parastomal hernia etc have finally brought me to a most unwelcome point of dodderiness. Hey ho, as Baggs would say, all that we can do is accept our limitations and carry on as best we can.

I appreciate that many of our dear Kitcheners are battling with much graver issues. We can all reflect on a time when we had boundless energy, only at that time, our future inability to function without pain was not given a moment's consideration.

Mr Soop is officially my carer. The GP is arranging for someone to visit in order to suggest adaptations to enable me to make use of what remains of my dwindling abilities.

In the meantime, Mr Soop has created a truly beautiful garden. We have an uninterrupted view of the sea and the islands of the inner Hebrides. Birdsong surrounds us. I wish you all inner peace. Please remember, that you are all super special.

spottybook Sun 11-May-25 15:46:28

Oh Soop I’m so sorry to hear about your troubles. You are always so upbeat and an inspiration to us all. The view from your garden sounds idyllic. I just wanted to pop out of my quiet corner in the kitchen and let you know I am thinking of you and all the other kitcheners with their own sadness and problems. I shall now disappear back into the quiet corner and help myself to a cup of tea and cake.

kittylester Sun 11-May-25 15:59:40

Soop, I am so sorry to hear of your difficulties and hope you get lots of help to make life easier. However, I am still green with envy over your garden and views - I have been since you first told us about it.

We deliberately bought a house with a tiny garden and lots of 'borrowed' trees but your house and garden must bring you so much joy. And I love your positive attitude.

Talking of ironing, I have just put a pile in the hall to deliver to the nice ironing lady. blush

GrandmaB, it's lovely to hear of your progress with your relationship with your son.

Some of you will know that DS1 had a lifechanging stroke 18 years ago. After lots of hard work (and help) he now lives independently and has a lovely girlfriend. He can't work but volunteers 3 days a week for CAB. All is fine .....until it isn't. His prescription request has gone astray and he is completely out of his main medication. The side effects have been horrendous. Thankfully, many panicky phone calls later and the pharmacy have 'advanced' him a few.

I think a few wine are now called for.

Sending love and gentle hugs to all.

Yiayia4 Sun 11-May-25 16:08:47

Dear Soop.I hope you will can get as much help as you need.In the meantime your garden sounds wonderful enjoy.🌻

So pleased you are in contact with your son Grandbatty it must make you very happy and I hope all goes well tomorrow.Yes we are going to Corfu tomorrow, also our favourite Greek Island.Last year DH was very unwell and we came home after a few days.It was very similar to FGT.We are both looking forward to a few weeks just chilling and will be happy to be back in Greece.

Will be thinking of you all and hoping for the best outcome for the FGTs.🤞

Scapa1 Sun 11-May-25 16:47:37

Soop so sorry to hear of the progression of your many problems. You are an inspiration to many on this thread. The view from your garden sounds spectacular I am so jealous of your sea view. Enjoy your Greek sojourn Yiayia4 hope it is restful and refreshes you both. Grandmabatty good luck for tomorrow I had my cataracts done in Falkirk and it was fine. Staff were lovely. A quiet day here filling some tubs with bedding plants, I decided it was finally warm enough in Scotland 😂.

Grannmarie Sun 11-May-25 16:51:26

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰

Dear Soop, I'm so sorry to hear about your difficulties, hoping and praying that your visitor can arrange the necessary aids and adaptations very soon. I'm sure MrSoop will be the most caring carer, and your garden and views the perfect tonic. Thinking of you both. 💕

Great news about your DS, Grandmabatty, so happy to hear about his welcome return to your loving family, and well done on his success in his workplace. Best wishes for your cataract procedure tomorrow. 👀

So glad you've arranged your DS's prescription, Kitty. Well done him on his independence and volunteering. Hope he is OK now.

YiaYia, wishing you and your DH safe journey and happy holidays in sunny Crete, it will do you both a power of good! Enjoy! ✈️🌞

Great news on the annulments, Neine, I know hiw much it means to you both. Perfect timing, now you can look forward to fulfilling your wish to be married in the Church.💕🙏

Thinking of the FGTS, hoping and praying that tomorrow's appointment goes well for them. 💕🙏

DS3 came yesterday, took me shopping then assembled my new garden bench and removed the old one. So I sat in the sun ☀ for a wee while, sore bits propped up on cushions, struggling with a sudoku... my mind and body are in poor shape right now, but the sunshine was good for my mood, I've lots to be thankful for.

Thinking of all in our special Kitchen, especially those in the quiet corner and all with sorrow, illness or worries. Please forgive me if I haven't mentioned you by name but I have read all your posts now and I am thinking of you all. TOYA. Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening.

RosesandLilac Sun 11-May-25 16:56:57

Oh Soop, I’m really sorry to hear this - it sounds like a plethora of buggerations for you, how very vexatious and frustrating it must be 😥
Your garden sounds amazing and I know you have posted incredible photos of the sunsets - here the woods behind us prevent us seeing anything other than the most dramatic sunsets through the trees.
Thinking of everyone who is struggling with life’s foibles 🤗
