soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.

Goodnight kitchen people, I’ll be thinking of the FGT2S tomorrow.

I had good news today. My number three niece in Australia finally gave birth two weeks late, to a daughter. She has already sent me some beautiful photos.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

I'm hoping and praying that Soop feels much better soon, all goes well for the FGTs tomorrow, and Grandmabatty's op is rescheduled ASAP. Thinking of all with worries, illness or sorrow, especially those in the quiet corner. 💕🙏

Neine, thank you, I am greatly comforted by ' say goodbye for now '.
I wrote ' Till we meet again ' on my card for the coffin wreath.💙

This morning's well attended Requiem Mass was a wonderful comfort, very personal and uplifting. All our carefully chosen hymns, readings, psalm and prayers were delivered lovingly by family, friends and parishioners. Our PP's sermon was very insightful and reassuring. ' Do not let your hearts be troubled...'

DS1 wrote and delivered his very touching eulogy to his Dad, with many memories of happy times, and quite a few laughs. I was so proud of our three sons, and all the family, who have worked so well together over the recent weeks to arrange a special send off for DH. They also involved DH's neices and nephews in the liturgy and in carrying the coffin.

I had a couple of wobbles, entering the church, then entering the crematorium, but I was surrounded by love and support so I managed to recover myself and participate in the prayers. DGD (13) read the prayers of intercession for her Papa, we're so proud of her, and all the family.

So, I'm counting my blessings, giving thanks for all the love and support we've received, IRL and from you lovely Kitchen people. I'm fondly remembering DH and our Seasons in the Sun.🎶🌞💕

TOYA, NNGB.

Goodnight everyone. Early night here.

Hi all, another sunny day, but a frost this morning, my tomato seedlings are now tucked up in the kitchen, back in the greenhouse tomorrow.
Stretch class today and MrJ had my car for a voluntary drive (his is a tip)! So I walked 😇 back.
I was awake early this morning and up at 6, plus a glass of 🥂tonight, I should sleep well later.
Fingers crossed Redcar for tomorrow; we just funded school shoes GH13 left the traipsing down to the parent!
I hope soop is improving and those in the quiet corner have had at least an ok day.
FGT you’ll be in my thoughts

GrannyGravy13 Thu 10-Apr-25 20:32:46

Redcar I hope you get to Centre Parcs, I think you said you are going to Elvedon?
That’s were we are going over Easter with the family, the GC are so excited.

brook2704 Thu 10-Apr-25 20:01:27

Hi kitchen pals, the house is back to normal and very quiet again as we’ve just dropped the two DGC back home. They’ve been good fun, there was a few moments when DGS just wouldn’t stop winding his sister up but we sorted it out eventually. It’s been a gorgeous sunny day and we went over to Brodie Castle, tbh they’re getting a bit too old for the playground there but they had a run around and the usual hide and seek
Just a quick salad for dinner then an early night for us
Well done surviving the shopping trip GG13!
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, sending ❤️

Redcar Thu 10-Apr-25 19:53:13

fgt I hope tomorrow’s scan goes well, but a very anxious time for you. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow.
grandmabatty I’m sorry your operation was cancelled and hope you don’t have to wait too long for another date. Unfortunately “priority “ doesn’t mean the same to the nhs as it does to everyone else!
Well done for surviving the shopping expedition with your DD and grandsons grannygravy. Fortunately I ‘m not required to accompany either of my DDs on the school shoes and uniform marathons!
I remember having to take my then 16 year old niece to buy school shoes. Her idea of what was suitable and mine differed considerably, but she won!

I’m hoping that we get to Center Parcs tomorrow, DD2’s OH thinks he may be going down with something, but is well enough to go to see his football team this evening! DD2 says she’ll drive if necessary.🤞.

Have a peaceful evening. Night night.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 10-Apr-25 19:08:02

Sending (((hugs))) to the soops and all other kitchen friends with woes 🌸🌸🌸

I survived shoe and clothes shopping with DD and two GS’s

My bank account is considerably smaller (they know how to get round Granny)

Preparing dinner and then I shall collapse on the sofa.

Signing off 🙋‍♀️

‘Evening All’.

We are just about to eat. Pork chops, potatoes , carrots & swede, sprouts and Bisto. It all smells delicious and I’m glad to report Himself is hungry. A good sign. Scan tomorrow teatime. I’m hoping his half stone weight loss is just down to his recent gastric bug. 🤞

Just emerging from Lurker’s Corner to hope the Soops are feeling better and those who endured a difficult day have come through it, as they’d wish.

kittylester Thu 10-Apr-25 11:31:09

Sorry,crossed posts, NN.

Crossstitchfan

Who is Soops and what is this all about? I keep seeing it but can’t understand what it is.

It's not about anything really. It is just like anyone's kitchen where tea, cake, comfy chairs, a shoulder to cry on, lots of support and gentle humour are available to anyone who needs it.

Soop started it very early on as a refuge when GN was going through a really fractious time.

There is a peaceful, quiet corner for those of us who just want to watch proceeding and then emerge when we feel the need.

Naughtyneine Thu 10-Apr-25 10:17:05

Crossstitchfan.....Soop is the wonderful lady who first started this thread many years ago...Soops Kitchen..a place of peace and love and support with no place for dissent ( unlike some other threads). All are welcomed.

Grandmabatty Thu 10-Apr-25 09:13:46

Thank you all. Unfortunately my op was cancelled at teatime yesterday! So I have to wait. Apparently I'm a priority. Yiayia I love Corfu! Have a wonderful time.

Naughtyneine Thu 10-Apr-25 07:48:12

Grannmarie. I will be at Mass this morning and praying that you are surrounded with love as you say farewell for now to your beloved man. Till you meet again, ♥️

Hi kitchen pals, a late visit from me as we’ve been busy with the DGC as they’re staying over tonight. They’ve been outside playing on their scooters and we did an early Easter egg hunt in the woods behind the house. They’ve both been good and eventually went off to bed about 9ish, let’s see what tomorrow brings …
Good news Yia and hope you get your holiday booked soon
Lovely blue flowers Dusty, thank you and hope your DH continues doing well
I wish we had a Centreparcs closer to here GG13 and Redcar or even something similar but there’s nothing like it.But we’ve been to the Cumbria one a couple of times when the DGC were younger and really enjoyed it. I hope you both enjoy your breaks with the families. And a second trip to look forward to too GG13, sounds good 👍🥂🥂🥂🥂
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all ❤️

Redcar Wed 09-Apr-25 22:15:05

Hello kitcheners.

Good news for you yiayia, so pleased for you and your DH.
grandmabatty I hope your cataract procedure goes well tomorrow.

A very quiet day today as I was keeping DD1’s dog company while DD1 and her DH were in the office. The granddaughters were at some sort of activity day at a local school and had a good day apparently. I did some dusting for DD1, but I doubt she’ll notice. I was trying to get warm, it was cloudy today and the heating was off and I was frozen!
When I got home I started to put a few things together for planned weekend at Center Parcs with both DDs and their families this weekend. Hoping it goes ahead as DD2 has an upset stomach today, I think she’ll have recovered by Friday but is anxious in case her OH and the children get it!

Pretty flowers dustyangel! The tulips are coming out in my garden, but most of my bluebells have disappeared this year. I’m a bit sad about that because they came from my parents’ garden.

Night night everyone, sleep well.

Nannytopsy Wed 09-Apr-25 22:07:16

LLFL I have just come home from our WI AGM. There are AGMs everywhere at them moment. It’s the WI federation one tomorrow. I’m going but only because the speaker is Adam Frost!

Hello kitchen people.

I’ve just got back from a Local History Society talk on Fishponds. Slightly bizarre but I won a bottle of sparkling lemonade from the raffle.

My successor as WI secretary popped round this afternoon for a ‘tutorial’ and a handover. I still have the box of archive material to give her but I can just pop round to her house with it. I have to admit the sense of relief was great! I’m still looking after the data base and updating members’ details but that is quite a small job.

Have a good evening, especially those in the Quiet Corner.

Jaxjacky Wed 09-Apr-25 21:00:46

Hi all, welcome news Yia hello Corfu 🙂
I dug out three old lavender plants today, they were woody and added little, three more to go, I was going to give them this summer, but there are incoming plants.
Some housework and the library had a visit, procrastinate reading my book club choice.
Just been for a quick drink with a friend, the ongoing bingo curtailed our chat!
My very best wishes for tomorrow Grandmabatty 👍

dustyangel Wed 09-Apr-25 20:51:02

Meant to send my best wishes to Grandmabatty for tomorrow. The hardest bit is trying not to bend forwards! Well worth it after the first week or so.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 09-Apr-25 20:50:23

‘Evening All’.

Our L’il Miss was so happy because she won a ‘full house’ at the PTA ‘Chocolate Bingo’ after school! Aw! She rarely gets to attend such fundraisers as she usually gets picked up by her lovely childminder who has other children in tow. However this week her mummy’s school had broken up earlier!

Yia guardedly good news indeed. You have the right attitude. Himself’s oncology team seem to dismiss his liver mets provided they remain ‘stable’. 🤞

GG13 a poignant day for you and your family. x

Thoughts to everyone sitting in the quiet corner tonight. Anxiety is draining in so many ways.

dustyangel Wed 09-Apr-25 20:45:35

Some flowers for you soop.

I’m so sorry that you have been so poorly and are having to cope with ongoing pain.

We are carrying on reasonably well. DH has been declared clear now of colon cancer but complications of the digestive tract continue. We just have to live with it. DH’s sister is in hospital having had what they first thought was a stroke, (about the same time as Ginster’s husband) but now say might be heart failure.

After a mild winter and a very wet spring the weeds/wildflowers here are magnificent. There are banks of overgrown wildflowers on the drive down into town, some would call them weeds but I enjoy seeing them.

Love to all in the kitchen, especially those with worries or pain.
