soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.

‘Evening All’.

I’m hoping Himself is turning the corner with his stomach bug. 🤞
He had two scrambled eggs at 1pm and no bathroom visit. He’s now munching a couple of Rich Tea biscuits while he torments himself by watching the Manchester ⚽️ derby on SKY tv. 😂

I’ve put up a pic of the cat who our Yorkshire Lass and her husband (still love saying that two years on!) adopted a few years back - joining in with you on today’s animals theme.

Chicken in the oven, veggies all prepared, table laid.

I have had a very relaxing day, now having a sherry over ice reminiscing.

Sending fondest wishes to the soops

Thinking of all the poorly kitchen pals 🌸

FGT puréed apple for babies aka applesauce is equally good with roast pork or on its own or with yoghurt as a gentle return to real food after severe diarrhoea. I always have some in as it doesn’t have to be kept in the fridge either. I hope Mr. FGT is improving and on the mend.

Hello Kitcheners. It's been a beautiful day here. Wash has been out on the line all day. I've been to Aldi and made a slow cooker pot of lentil soup. Then I spent time in the garden. My aunt and uncle came over and it was especially lovely to see them. We wept a little and hugged and I fed them soup and cake while we shared memories about mum. They are not long away and I'm watching tv for a while before bringing in the wash and making dinner. Steak pie and mash tonight. Tomorrow is another day. My best to all, particularly Soop and her Mr. Have a pleasant Sunday evening.

Just seen your latest post FGT, the simple joys of being able to eat rich biscuits definitely signal turning a corner .

BridgetPark Sun 06-Apr-25 17:06:05

Just want to say, how much I appreciate this forum, it means a lot to me personally. I drop by and read all the posts, and while I don't always respond, it always gives me pause for thought. It gives me comfort that so many of you have empathy and consideration for us all, like a lovely comforting hug.
Thankyou to you allflowers

BridgetPark nice to hear from you.

BridgetPark 👋👋
Just read Blossoming when you can - hope you saw the physio.
Another sunny day, still with the breeze, hoe was out on the baby weeds - begone!
Bay tree repotted, otherwise I was lazy with a short walk.
MrJ pretty much back to normal; as I hope himself will be soon FGT and the soops

Jaxjacky it was so nice to feel supported and looked after, just for a wee while. They are lovely people and I'm really fond of them. My brother has been a huge disappointment and has caused me so much stress that any help he does offer is usually with strings and then he doesn't do what he's asked to, so I'm constantly second guessing.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people Dear Soop, I'm hoping and praying that you and your lovely man are feeling a wee bit better, thinking of you both. 💕

Dear Kitchen friends, thanks again for all your love and support ar this difficult time for me and mine. Dear Grandmabatty, thinking of you and yours, the road we are on is not easy. Your lovely daughter is so thoughtful. I thank God for my sons and my sisters.

Last week I was very calm and matter of fact about things . It must have been the shock of DH's sudden death that was detaching me, cos this week it's all hitting me, my nerves are getting the better of me and I'm not sleeping well. However, the viewing on Friday was helpful, it was good to see DH looking peaceful after the 'hard shift' he had. I had privacy and plenty of time to be with him and say everything I wanted to. Lots of family and friends came to say goodbye, we had a private sitting room and it was good to share happy memories.

The boys are on top of all the arrangements, I've always been proud of them, but I'm so grateful for all their help and support.

So, my lovely sisters have kidnapped me. 🤣They took me to Buchanan Galleries,
where the wonderful Glasgow Grans meet up, to shop for my funeral outfit, ( I had the personal stylist in John Lewis! )🤣

Now I'm transported to a peaceful Perthshire country house hotel for a couple of days rest, relaxation and River Tay walks, to get me fit for the funeral.... it' s such a long wait.

I'm trying to keep up with your news, kind thoughts to all with worries, illness or sorrow,
and all in the quiet corner. TOYA.

Jaxjacky Sun 06-Apr-25 19:20:08

Grannmie you have the most wonderful family looking after you and I know you appreciate them all.
It’s comforting you had time with him, it is a tricky road ahead, we’ll all be there xx

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a gorgeous day here in Inverness
Grannmarie and Grandmabatty my heart goes out to you both, such difficult sad times you’re both going through
I hope you can rest and relax a bit in the hotel grannmarie and get some much needed sleep.
Grandmabatty so pleased to hear you had a lovely afternoon with your aunt and uncle, sorry to hear your brother is causing stress rather than supporting you, a difficult situation
Also thinking of everyone in the quiet corner with their own sadness and worries
Take care all, a virtual group hug feels needed ❤️

Another lovely Suffolk day but it suddenly went so cold!
We are watching the first episode of the new series of Grace. We have both read the book, trying to remember the plot!
Much love to Grannmarie and Grandmabatty and of course, the soops

grannmarie I’m pleased that your family are taking such good care of you. It will be hard, but try to relax and feel the peace and quiet of your surroundings.
grandmabatty I’m pleased you had a supportive visit from your aunt and uncle, but sorry that your brother is being so difficult.
BridgetPark good to hear from you.
jax pleased that your DH has recovered from his illness.
soop I hope that you and your DH are beginning to feel a little better and that you’ll soon feel well enough to join us in the kitchen again.

Another sunny day here, with a cool breeze, not a day for basking in the sun! I went to DD2’s this afternoon for coffee, before leaving home I had a plaintive text asking if i could bring some butter and icing sugar so she could decorate a birthday cake for her OH! He was at football and just for once his team won, so a happy birthday for him.

I hope you all avenge a peaceful evening.

Redcar Sun 06-Apr-25 22:02:20

Avenge? Enjoy perhaps! Predictive text is getting worse!

GrandmaC47 Sun 06-Apr-25 22:29:21

Grannmarie and Grandmabatty 💐
Good to hear the poorly husbands are improving.
Blossoming hope you’re soon out of the RPH.
Thoughts, as always, with the Soops.

It’s still bright and sunny here, but not very warm.

Took two GC to soft play this morning, back here for lunch then they played in the garden.

Cold meat and chips for dinner, quick and easy.

Thinking of the soops and all our kitchen friends with troubles or illness 🌸

Good evening Kitcheners. I had a very long childcare day and I've just delivered the boys home. They were very well behaved today, particularly dgs1. My house is a riot though! I'm heading to the garden to tidy it up first. Then finish the house tidy. Mum's funeral is organised for next Tuesday and I've booked a local hotel for afternoon tea after the service . She loved an afternoon tea. It's been a lovely day today. Hopefully tomorrow will be more of the same. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

‘Evening All’.

I took this photo this afternoon from our verandah. A lovely sunny afternoon. I was sat next to the laundry which was during in the sun. You can see the Pennines in the distance and some days I can make out the greenery there.

Thoughts go to all of us needing a hug for one reason or another. I’m hoping for ‘a better day tomorrow’ as Captain Tom promised us.

brook2704 Mon 07-Apr-25 19:21:58

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been another gorgeous sunny day here and I’ve been in and out of the garden most of the day and called into check on the DGC who were both fine
Well done with organising things grandmabatty it’s not easy I know ❤️
DH is out so I’m enjoying the peace and quiet sitting in the conservatory
Thinking of all in the quiet corner, sending hugs 💐

Hello everyone. Another lovely sunny day here, with a cool breeze. I’ve been busy today, but trying to pace myself. I did more exercises this morning, then cleaned the drain plug in the shower yucky! Not my favourite job and my back hates the bending. Did some ironing, put a few things ready for the trip to Center Parcs on Friday. I can’t take much, I’m going in DD2’s car, three adults, two children in car seats, so a bit of a squash!
Batch cooked some onions, red peppers and tomatoes to go with sausages & pasta. Had some this evening and will freeze the rest.
Sprayed some weeds with weed killer, hope it works!
I hope fgt and her DH feel better tomorrow.
grandmabatty it’s good that you’ve been able to arrange your mum’s funeral and an afternoon tea to follow. It sounds very dignified and enjoyable.
I hope those in the quiet corner are enjoying the peace and quiet!
Night night.
