soop has been in touch. She will not be on GN today, I think, as she is unwell. Please carry on your usual kind chatting. soop was saying yesterday what lovely people you all are.

Very glad to hear from you FGT2 x

It has been a beautiful day here, had a lovely walk at Lytham. The forecast is for sun all week GrannyG47 so you are in luck.

I tried to post a photo but it isn’t working, ever since the Gransnet site maintenance a couple of days ago. Is anyone else having trouble?

Redcar Mon 12-May-25 19:31:48

fgt thanks for the update. It’s good that your DH’s next appointment is so soon and that you won’t have to wait long for the results of the tests. Hopefully the paracetamol will make him more comfortable and that the Ensure will enable him to put on some weight.
blossoming I hope you had a good day out in Lytham and were able to have a little walk.
corner I’m glad you had a good day yesterday with your family.
I haven’t done much today, I didn’t sleep well last night, I was woken at 2.30 by a flash of lighting and just one clap of thunder! I couldn’t work out what the noise was after the thunder but think it was probably rain, one of the water butts is full which is good. I haven’t looked in the other two. I did dust upstairs and wiped the outside window ledges.

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Glad you have had such a thorough and swift response at the Christie, FGT2. It sounds like you have done a good job of keeping his fluids up, which is quite some achievement when swallowing is hard.
Fingers crossed for you both 🤞

mamaa Mon 12-May-25 19:21:52

FGT some welcome news there re bloods etc bring normal, and it’s good that you could get home and be seen so quickly and efficiently.
I bet you’ve not stopped worrying since last Thursday/ Friday and are still doing so/ will continue to do do but try not to show it.
Thoughts with you both and 🤞🏻 that it’s just a blip that’ll be soon sorted. Sending love and prayers xx

Hello everyone we are Just home. Very thorough consultation. Himself is to have a barium swallow at Christie’s on Wednesday morning which would be better than an endoscopy for him. X-rays taken as part of the procedure. Then back on Thursday afternoon for the results and discuss treatment plan. They mentioned chemotherapy with Taxil again as he had such a good response to it the first half of last year.

They also gave him a liquid painkiller containing paracetamol and Ensure drinks x5 a day to get calories in. He can’t swallow food of any kind at present. Obviously this past week he has lost weight and been in some pain.

On the upside, all bloods were normal, blood pressure, pulse. So no need to be admitted and put on a drip as he was not dehydrated but if we have any concerns at any stage we are to ring the crisis line.

Hello everyone. I’m trying to post but seemingly having difficulty….

GrannyGravy13 Mon 12-May-25 18:56:49

Gym first thing then a catch up with friends over tea/coffee.

This afternoon before school pick up we perused various holiday brochures, sorted out airmiles and shall visit a travel agent tomorrow to try and book something.

Piri piri chicken, jacket potato and salad for dinner.

Night Night 🙋‍♀️

Hello kitchen people. I hope we’re having a good day. The FGT2S must be home from the hospital by now. I hope the news was good.

I had an interesting afternoon at my friend’s craft group. I showed off my mosaic and other ladies had things to show too.

OH is cooking spag Bol for dinner so I’m relaxing.

Have a good evening.

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a lovely sunny day here until about 4ish when the sea haar rolled in and the temperature dropped quickly. I’ve enjoyed being busy in the garden, mowing the lawn then trimming the winter flowering heathers that had finished flowering. Also a trip to both Tesco and Aldi for DD2s food shopping 🙄
Thinking of fgt and her DH this afternoon
Hoping soop is doing ok today and sending hugs to everyone in the quiet corner x

Naughtyneine Mon 12-May-25 07:54:09

Sending you a virtual Cwtch Soop..♥️
Everything crossed for reassurance this afternoon FGT2. ♥️
Hope all goes well with your op today Grandmabatty 🤞

Hello kitchen people. Special thoughts for the Soops and the FGT2S. I will be thinking of that appointment at the Christie tomorrow.

Church this morning was interesting. No organist and there were less than a dozen of us so the singing was a little muted!

Lunch by the river was delicious. On the way home we popped into an Oxford Arts Weeks venue which was literally in the middle of nowhere. I was tempted to buy a vase which OH hates.

Sleep 💤 tight,

Nannytopsy Sun 11-May-25 21:19:55

Evening all!
Best wishes for the Soops and FGTs tomorrow.
We are sitting outside in that time between the swifts going to bed and the bats arriving. Our bat detector says pipistrelles and noctules. Very exciting.

cornergran Sun 11-May-25 20:37:39

Thank goodness for the garden and view soop, I’m sorry you’re having such health mountains to climb. Here’s hoping occupational health will make helpful suggestions. Love to you and mr soop.

Oh heck kitty, relieved you could sort the prescription issue, positive for everyone.

Happy holiday yia. You must be proud of Fin jax. Congratulations to him. You’re working hard at rehab blossoming. Please don’t overdo it though. Your surgery will soon be over grandmab, I’ll be thinking of you and of course the fgt’s.

It’s been a happy day for me. The two motorways were worth it, our family meal was delicious but most of all to see both families in one place is such a treat. The only missing person is in Australia, we’ll let her off grin. I feel very blessed.

Tired now after all the driving though so it’s feet up here.

Wishing you all a good evening and a peaceful night.

Passing on my best wishes for an improvement in soop’s ongoing health battle.
Thinking of the FGTs tomorrow too.

GrandmaC47 Sun 11-May-25 19:47:35

Soop 💐 for you both.
Blossoming, I’m heading your way on Thursday, it will be good to have sunshine it normally rains for me. Lytham is my sister’s go to place for a walk by the sea. Maybe she’ll take me 😀.
Thoughts are with the Fgt’s for tomorrow.
Happy holidays to those on the move. Hope all goes well for Grandmabatty tomorrow.

Redcar Sun 11-May-25 19:36:38

soop I am so sorry that you’re suffering so many buggerations and hope that a visit from Occupational Therapy will produce some useful aids to make your life easier. Your garden and the views you have sound idyllic, well done to mr soop for keeping the garden so beautiful.

grandmabatty I’m pleased that your DS is still in contact with you, I hope he feels able to join the family holiday in the summer. Best wishes for your surgery tomorrow.

yiayia I hope you have a lovely holiday in Corfu, fingers crossed you don’t have to cut short your holiday this year!

kittylester well done for sorting out your DS’s prescription, I hope that there aren’t any more problems in getting him the medication he needs. Enjoy your🍷, well deserved!

I had a nice afternoon, sitting in DD1’s garden, watching the granddaughters playing together nicely. It was very warm, but the sofa was comfortable, although I had to share it with the labradoodle, who was overjoyed to see me snd DD2!

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

brook2704 Sun 11-May-25 19:24:16

Dearest soop your safe kitchen has been a haven for many of us with troubles and illnesses, now it’s our turn to support you 🌸🌸🌸

Jaxjacky Sun 11-May-25 18:05:09

Indeed a buggeration soop one to be helped with soon I hope.
Happy holidays Yia I remember your last trip, this one will be a great tonic for you both.
My very best wishes for tomorrow Grandmabatty, this time tomorrow, all done.
Verity upsetting kitty
We spent a lot of today watching Fin play football, 3 goals, man of the match, the final next 🦶
Consequentially little else has been done, I’ll have to get on early tomorrow before it heats up.
Take care Grannmarie small steps

Blossoming Sun 11-May-25 17:42:24

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Today has not been such a good day, I have no energy and am struggling to get motivated.

We did not go out, I practiced walking without any aids around the kitchen and hallway and used my new 0.5kgs hand weights to do some arm and shoulder exercises.

Tomorrow is another day, MrB has suggested a drive to Lytham, which always bucks me up.

Sorry to read of all the troubles of others, hope tomorrow is a better day for us all.

Wishing you all a peaceful evening ♥️🌹

GrannySomerset Sun 11-May-25 17:13:22

Thinking of the brave Soops and hoping for the best for the FGTs. Have had a nice afternoon out with neighbours and am going out to supper shortly - a real treat! One way and another it has been a good weekend which I didn’t expect.

Grandmabatty Sun 11-May-25 17:04:18

Soop you are an inspiration to us all in your kitchen. I am sorry that things are so difficult for you but glad your garden brings you solace. Kitty I didn't know that about your son. My best wishes for him. What a worry about the prescription. Yiayia I discovered Corfu after my marriage broke up. I took the children there and it was exactly what we needed. Enjoy your holiday. Scapa thank you. It's the unknown which is making me apprehensive. Grannmarie dear friend, I wish I could take away your pain. All things will be well.
Fridge is stocked and dd has made me bolognaise sauce and a chicken and bacon hotpot. I won't starve! Thank you for all your many kind words. I'll let you know how it goes.
