Meghan’s April Fool?

From The Tines this morning
Imagine if I told you I was giving you something “in keepsake packaging that you can repurpose to tuck away love notes or special treasures, and to remember this pivotal moment with me”. You would look at me strangely and ask if I should perhaps seek specialist medical help, and you would be right. And if I then told you that this keepsake packaging could be used as a “small bud vase for flowers on your nightstand or to hold pens on your desk”, could you guess what it was ?
A vintage piece of pretty china, say? Big reveal: it's a jam jar^

Whouda thunk?
Using an old jam jar for pencils? (Who uses pencils?)
Personally I put mine through the dishwasher and re use them for the next batch of raspberry jam -sorry, spread

Is she unlike any other tv celebrity above criticism?

AGAA4 Mon 07-Apr-25 11:32:25

Meghan was an actress (or actor) so loves to be in front of a camera so there will probably be more of these little shows starring her.
This is the way she is and if it makes her happy then why would I criticise.

Good luck to her. Fools and their money.....

I can’t recall the king when Prince of Wales popping up on tv
demonstrating jam making , sorry fruit spread

I wouldn't pay £21 for a jar of jam, regardless of who made it.

No? The Pope? Banksy? Queen Camilla? Ed Miliband?🤭

No, none of them, an extra £ or 2 over standard supermarket price, possibly, but more than that - no.

Lets face it the chances that the Duchess of Sussex, the Pope or any of the others will actually have made the jam themselves is very very low, they have merely paid someone else to make it and then put their name on it, like Duchy foodstuffs n Waitrose. The King never made any of the products marketed this way, even when he was Prince of Wales and owned and launched the brand.

Banksy 😂
I'd expect him to paint it on my wall for £21!

Maybe it would work better as 'paint' than as a spread.

Banksy 😂

It would likely be a painting of Meghan holding up a jar of jam with a beaming smile while above her and heading her way, a gigantic hornet homes in on the open jar🤭

This review of Meghan’s jam is from the DM’s ‘Femail’ section:

It was difficult to eat the spread with the toast, as it was so thin that it dribbled

After trying it by the spoonful, which left us grimacing from the sweetness, we spread some on a toasted piece of sourdough, which is where things began to take a turn for the worse.

It was difficult to eat the spread with the toast, as it was so thin that it dribbled everywhere and made a mess. Our once nicely toasted piece of bread became a sopping wet disaster after just a few minutes.

Definitely not jam then and doesn’t sound like much of a spread either.

Mind you, sourdough is the worst bread on Earth, either fresh or toasted. In fact when toasted it’s as hard as iron,I just don’t get the fashion it’s sourdough only in so many cafes hotels and restaurants 🤬
I don’t like runny jam either.

Sparkle if I paid £21 I would expect to be elevated 😲

I'd expect it to be cooked with gin at least.
And with gold sprinkles.

Anniebach Sun 06-Apr-25 19:36:26

Rather pricey jam tarts

lixy Sun 06-Apr-25 19:21:09

Oh goodness me! If I paid £21 for a pot of spread I think my OH would think I had completely lost the plot. Can you pay in Tesco’s vouchers do you suppose?

So the spread didn’t spread, it didn’t elevate

Haha Annie - Love it!

My GDC wouldn't be beyond licking out the last bits of the nutella jar. We've got through 2 jars in a few days last week!

^On jam jars: I noticed that Meghan’s chosen jars are those ones with the annoying corners that hold on to the last scraps of any jam/spread/pickle. Prefer round jars myself.^

lixyyes, the ten jars I bought were shaped like thst, they are annoying. I was relieved to see Wilkos had changed them for round ones the next time I bought some.

Use your fingers! 😆

I might, as long as DD1 isn't there to tell me off as being a bad example to DGC 😂

Dribbly jam - I bought some very tasty jam which a friend had made to sell for charity with fruit from her trees and it was runny. It obviously hadn't reached setting point. It did get mould on the top very quickly after opening but, being a child of the 40s, I scraped it off then kept the jam in the fridge!

lixy Sun 06-Apr-25 10:43:41

Maybe rebrand as a ‘sauce’ for ice cream? Or should that be a coulis?

Anniebach Sun 06-Apr-25 10:30:24

So the spread didn’t spread, it didn’t elevate

Calendargirl Sun 06-Apr-25 10:28:15

She probably needs to reboil the jam, to thicken it up.

And add some lemon juice, to help it set and to counteract the sickly sweetness.

How many jars will that involve?

😂
