Good Morning Everyone ,
A dark but dry start here in brackley ,not quite twilight.
Today ,apart from a day of cycling on TV with Paris to Roubaix.
As to my mobile tempted to make an appointment with a local EE?BT store in Banbury and let them do it.
Health is OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Blossoming well done on the steady progress and your positive attitude, quietly inspirational and can-do.

monk08 Sun 13-Apr-25 07:49:53

Good morning all from a dull Black country sign the schools have broken up.
A trip to Aldi for fresh flowers what an exciting life I lead, roast beef for dinner not my favourite but DH deserves a treat now and again.
BlueSapphie and Glammagran happy cruising 🛳.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

RosieandherMaw Sun 13-Apr-25 07:50:50

Good morning - also from N Bucks (about 10 minutes down the road from Ginny ) and it’s a clear blue sky and wall to wall ☀️☀️☀️again.
Yesterdays lunch went on all afternoon and I didn’t get back till 5. Rosie had been a good dog but it was an effort to take her out for a toddle as I felt very “relaxed” (= ready for a nap)
Today I have to ring a potential speaker for an Arts Society Special Interest Day (know as SIDs) I am running in 2026. I want us to do one on Street Art, Banksy, maybe Keith Haring. I know it might be out of some people’s comfort zone but these always sell out so I am taking a chance. D3 is very proud that they can see one of last years London Banksy pieces on her local chippy from a back bedroom window !
Decided to take lonely Sundays in hand and am meeting up with 2 Bedford Art History class friends this afternoon.
If you want it to happen, sometimes you just have to make it happen don’t you?
Wishing you all a relaxed and ☀️ Palm Sunday 🌿

Good morning all. We had rain overnight and despite a watery sun at present I fear we will be having more of a cloudy day in Glasgow.

GM, widowhood, as I am discovering is a very difficult road since DH died 8 months ago. I am currently trying to reinvent myself, keeping busy one way or another through what is my. new normal life now and quietly getting on with it.
baubles a day of respite when needed isn’t something I would class as a boring day. You are not a boring person so enjoy your well earned day of doing what suits you.

I had a lovely long FaceTime blether with DD2 in Australia this morning. If only she lived nearer but at least I can still be part of her life thanks to FT.
Now 75, I have received a date for my Covid vaccine next month.

My best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday and a smoother one for those with worries and struggles.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 13-Apr-25 07:59:32

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry but not sunny and cooler out. Alexa tells me it’s 9°C with showers later and 12°C. I miss the sun already! It’s been wonderful hasn’t it?

Lunch at my favourite Italian restaurant this afternoon with my stepfather. We had to miss last Sunday as Himself had that awful gastric bug. I’m hoping he now regains the half stone he lost over the next few days.

Grammaretto Sun 13-Apr-25 08:00:35

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sun's shining again.
I may well be ironing too gMattie as I forgot to bring the washing in yesterday and had to put clean sheets on my bed

I had been chatting to the NZ family.
No travel plans this year as I must concentrate on the house move.

I viewed a flat for sale yesterday but DGD announced: " you couldn't live in a flat granny" as she was sowing seeds in trays in the greenhouse.

You sound well on the road to recovery Ash smile

Well done your dog Susan 🐕 👏 👍
Have a wonderful cruise BlueSapphire 🛳

Thinking of those facing difficulties and hope you find time to enjoy something today.

baubles Sun 13-Apr-25 08:00:38

Bon voyage BlueSapphire and Glammagran.

karmalady Sun 13-Apr-25 08:02:56

Wise words and an interesting post Rosieandhermaw

Especially this line which truly resonated with me, what I do almost every day. Life does not come easy when widowed

If you want it to happen, sometimes you just have to make it happen don’t you?

Kalu Sun 13-Apr-25 08:04:41

Happy sailing Bluesapphire and Glammagran

grandMattie Sun 13-Apr-25 08:04:55

FYI, my autocorrect is wrong! No ironing whatsoever is taking place at chateau Mattie

EkwaNimitee Sun 13-Apr-25 08:07:40

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle. Rain is forecast, we need it. Like Karmalady, I also have nematodes to keep happily damp.
Yesterday was a fairly quiet day after the exertions of gardening the day before. I did make an early trip to Sainsbury's for a top up shop and then it was back for a long phone chat with my sister. Later, I sat out in the garden and read after doing a gentle culling of books. I'm finding it hard to get rid of anything now, I have rooms full of 'stuff' but I seem to need it all!
Today, I'm off for a walk shortly before any rain appears, it will be quiet, only me and a few early dog walkers and exercisers.
The rest of the day?...just reading and researching my next holiday.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Marydoll Sun 13-Apr-25 08:07:56

Good Morning from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 5°C.

We had a lovely day at Babydoll's second birthday, garden party yesterday. The children had a ball, especially Dollie, who didn't want to leave her surrogate cousins.
BabyD was beaming with excitement, all hee favourite people in the one place. What more could a birthday toddler ask for? We had to sing Happy Birthday four times. 🤣

I was still feeling pretty ropey after my booster and sat ensconced like the Queen Mother in a chair all afternoon, DIL had put on a lovely spread and DS took charge of the barbecue. Unfortunately, I couldnt face eating. To my annoyance, I forgot to get a picture of the fabulous birthday cake made by DIL's mum. It was amazing!

I need to go to Mass, things went pear shaped last night because I wasn't there, despite my careful planning.
I also have a meeting with the P.P. alias the Scarlet Pimpernel! I have been trying to pin him down for a week. Grrr.

I intend to come back and do nothing! It's blooming hard work pretending you are feeling fine, when all you to do, is to find a quiet corner somwhere and indulging in some private wallowing. .
I have mastered the art of having an unreadable face and pretending I am fine., 😉

Wishing you all a pleasant day, safe journey to the cruisers and hoping for some progress for those in the sick bay.

GrannySomerset Sun 13-Apr-25 08:12:01

Back to grey skies after the wonderful burst of sunny spring weather, but today should be dry and the builders are due to finish the roof tomorrow, so I feel fortunate. Just need them to take the scaffolding away soon though I suspect it will stay until needed elsewhere.

Palm Sunday service so must make a move. Hope today is kind to everyone.

Gingster Sun 13-Apr-25 08:15:39

Good morning all .

DS1 came and attacked the overgrown forsythia bush which has brambles growing through it. He’s a strong chap and is very Gung Ho and goes at things a million miles an hour. He came back in covered in scratches, sweating but satisfied with his efforts.

Today we have my brother and sister in law visiting for an hour this morning. Dh isn’t bothered about having visitors but I limit it to an hour and I can’t keep fobbing people off.

Next week is full of therapist appointments so that will keep us busy.

Thankyou Ash and Susan.
Enjoy the cruise Bluesapphire . Keep us posted 🛳️.
Hope you feel better GG. Pollen count is high atm. 🤧.
Grannyivy I’m still getting bites too. 🦟.
Blossoming you’re doing so well 👏.

Take care all and I hope you all have a pleasant Sunday.
I’m hoping the builders next door won’t be coming today. 🙏

Aldom Sun 13-Apr-25 08:19:57

Maw If it's of use to you, our Arts Society had the most excellent lecture on Banksy last November.
The lecturer's name is Ray Warburton. I imagine he would come to you as we are in the next county to you.

RosieandherMaw Sun 13-Apr-25 08:28:22

Interesting, thank you!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 13-Apr-25 08:37:26

Ladies your get together on a cruise sounds exotic! Quite wonderful really how it’s worked out and then both of you meeting Bellasnana on Easter Sunday too! Brilliant.

karma I love the descriptions of your experiments from your scientific mind! Reminds me of reading the novel … hmm the title of which escapes me! Set in the 50’s. Made me laugh.

Jaxjacky Sun 13-Apr-25 08:38:35

Morning, sunny and the ground is damp, a modicum of rain overnight, not enough.
Yesterday was quiet, a couple of phone calls to the children, we’re having a Chinese feast here next Saturday, everyone is contributing.
Today we have no real plans, I’ll have my hoe out in the garden, I love this time of year when plants are popping up. If my parsnips have chitted I’ll plant them in the toilet roll middles saved up.
Have a brilliant cruise BlueSapphire and Glammagran.
I’m glad to hear progress is made with some poorlies, the indomitable spirit of Ashcombe and Blossoming
I hope you enjoyed your walk yesterday Gingster
MrJ lost half a stone too FGT he’s enthusiastically regaining it!
Have a pleasant day all
🦩🦩

Grandmabatty Sun 13-Apr-25 08:42:58

FGT The trouble with Lichen by John Wyndham or Day of the Triffids?

Liberty Sun 13-Apr-25 08:43:56

Good morning from another glorious sunny Suffolk which I think will last until Tuesday.

No plans for anything today so it will be the usual dog walk and then a bit of pottering in the garden,I think. The spring bulbs in pots will need watering this evening and the roses too which are growing a pace.

I hope that those lucky enough to be cruising today have a wonderful holiday and those unwell or stressed find some comfort today. Thinking especially of Gingster and her DH coming to terms with the challenges in their new life.

NannyJan53 Sun 13-Apr-25 08:47:32

Good morning from a very cloudy and dull Black Country. Such a contrast to the last week.

Made a start on clearing out and tidying the garage yesterday So much stuff, I have no idea where it all comes from. MrJ was reluctant to ditch some of it, but he agreed to most smile

He is on a group cycle ride today, so I have an 'empty'.

Enjoy your cruise ladies and how wonderful to meet up with Bellasnanna

I think the novel you may be thinking of FGT is 'Lessons in Chemistry' ?

Wishing you all the best day possible.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 13-Apr-25 08:50:44

Grandmabatty

FGT The trouble with Lichen by John Wyndham or Day of the Triffids?

Neither, Grandmabatty! Thanks though.
This will bug me until I recall it ….

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 13-Apr-25 08:51:50

YES NannyJan !! 😁

Taichinan Sun 13-Apr-25 09:33:30

Good morning all, and it's another glorious day before the forecast rain layer The photo is of our tai chi on the beach yesterday. We couldn't have had a better day for it in mid summer - it was glorious. Tea and sticky buns afterwards weren't bad either!
Apart from hanging the washing on the line in a minute I have nothing planned for today. Although I must continue with 'weeding' out my Mother's Day flowers. They really have done well this year.
DS2 and his wife are away to Belgium just now for a few days - celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. !!! I know our children grow up, but honestly? That's ridiculous!
Anyway the washing line calls and I will return later to read the posts. Have a lovely Sunday 🌞😀
