I am a carer for a dear friend who is not now a home owner, and who came to live in my house after a health breakdown and an unwanted early retirement. We are financially independent of each other but share all expenses. This has worked well for years.
As well as ensuring that homelessness would not be a problem for my friend if I kicked the bucket first, I took out a life insurance policy which until this year would have paid out enough for a top up income for a couple of years.
Yesterday I received a letter from the insurance company showing me that the sum assured had gone down by two thirds.I phoned them to ask whether this had anything to do with my increasing age and deteriorating health. Not at all, said the nice, apologetic young man at the end of the line. It is all to do with Trump's recent tariff decisions and the effect on the global markets.
My health is not good, and I may not be lucky enough to live long enough for markets to recover. In which case my friend - not, sadly, Mr Trump - will be the loser.
How have Trump's tariffs affected you?

Have you ever 'googled' yourself?
