Good Morning Everyone,

I have got my mobile done with new number so will have to do necessary things like giving it to my doctors surgery and the NHS line to access things .
Today, usual bus trip to Bicester ,hopefully have a chat with those I know .
Health wise OK,
Take Care,
Mick

A late good morning from Durham. DD2’s dog has been sick everywhere and the chap called to look at the shed roof, so more pressing tasks first. The chap stayed for a cuppa and a chat and will do the job next week, at half the price of the other quote.
It’s bright and breezy here. I had no idea the king and his wife would be in the city, so just warned my friend to stay clear.
As usual, any plans I make get derailed and instead of DD2 and DGS2 coming tomorrow and staying till Monday, she’s coming today after Nursery pick up and staying ‘til Sunday. It really isn’t a problem, but I am totally lost without my car. Fortunately, I’m able to drive hers (Motability) so if there’s anything we desperately need, I can pop out to my local Tesco.

Haven’t read the whole thread yet, so for now …

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Wet and windy yesterday and still felt the after effects of my covid jab so stayed in and didn’t go to the folk club in the evening.
This morning to the hairdresser to have my roots touched up and maybe highlights redone. It’s not my usual hairdresser so not sure about the highlights.

I’ve had the same Grandmattie, specs or contact lenses waiting to be picked up and no phone call🙄
Thoughts to our cruisers and all with troubles of any kind🌺

Good morning from a sunny chilly Co Armagh, not as cold as yesterday!
Quiet day here , Ki hope to get to the Holy Thursday ceremonies tonight , I used to be a volunteer to get my feet washed , but now it’s a struggle to get my shoes of and worse trying to get them on again

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Waiting for the gardener to arrive and then a trip into town to the Building Society. I am hoping to see DD2 later but it depends what time her in laws are leaving. Yesterday’s art group was fun, seven of us turned up we have only known one another a short time but some rather strong personalities. The theme was Easter so lots of flower and egg painting. In the afternoon I saw my DF and we put the world to rights. Neither of us now have very young GC although she is going to be a GG soon but still lots of problems with the teenagers and young adults.
Best wishes to all.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very cold again but will it rain?

My washing machine is going full pelt with all the laundry from my Helper's room.
They left yesterday and I am by myself for a few days.

The friend's funeral was wonderful. Uplifting as she was. She sang in the choir and knew the rector very well so he began, almost in tears, to say
how she had helped him to slow his speaking and to remember that half
the congregation were deaf.

Her children and grandchildren
played and sang. The only person missing was her 😥

I had a friend call for tea who stayed
for supper and today someone is calling too.

I can't get to yoga as I still have no car though I'm told it is repairable- just.

Good news from Jax and Sar.
Fabulous cruise envyBlue jealous face.

How thoughtful you are Bellasnanna.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning Mick, morning All from a calm, sunny corner of Somerset.

Yesterdays early morning stormy winds caused a large part of a climbing rose to break off and dislodged the ancient pergola supporting it and a second rose. It seems the pergola can be saved, for now, Mr C is on a mission to do so today. 🤞 crossed all will be well. I’ll keep an eye on progress from the conservatory - and Mr C’s safety - while working through a mountain of ironing.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Enjoy Lytham Blossoming! A favourite with our little family. Such a relief for you all Sar53 that your asthmatic granddaughter is now home from hospital. I hope you all enjoy Easter weekend together. GG13 woohoo! Holiday time! Hope you get plenty of 🌞

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 6°C.

So many posts already, *Mick is getting earlier and earlier. In the past, we used to wait until 6am, for him to start the thread!

Pleased to read your granddaughter is home again, Sar. My son had a similar childhood to hers, due to chronic asthma and anaphylaxis.

I didn't sleep well last night, worrying about Babydoll. She was s so unwell yesterday, still being sick after three days, that after examining her, the GP advised her parents to take her to A&E at the Sick Children's Hospital yesterday.😪
What a rotten second birthday she has had.
The GP was also worried about a constant rash, in addition to her eczema, she has had for ages. She is definitely her daddy's girl and his double in looks and health conditions.
A thorough examination at the hospital did not reveal anything sinister, it looks like it is a particularly nasty gastric bug.
The paediatrician suggested giving her apple juice and ice lollies to rehydrate her, both of which she has discovered that she loves.
The doctor went and got an ice lolly for BabyD, for which she promptly thanked her. 😍 She has been well brought up!
She was eventually discharged last night, with the advice, that if she is not any better, they have to bring her back this morning.

DS faced timed us last night and the wee soul looks so poorly, not her usual manic self. I was very upset, for her daddy was permanently unwell as a child and it triggered those bad memories.
This should have been her day with us, but her parents knowing how vulnerable I am, have taken time off work and obviously don't want her out of their sight.
It looks as if DIL has now caught it too. That is probably due to BabyD throwing up on DIL's face, when they took her into bed with them.

Frankly, much as I adore her, I am relieved that we have a day
off, I am permanently exhausted and in pain and this nonsense with my mouth is really dragging me down.
My mouth is as bad as ever! 😡
However, the weight I have been trying to lose for the last ten years, is falling off! I shall need a whole new wardrobe soon. 😉

I hope the cruisers enjoy Gibraltar, DH and I had a few trips there, where he would collect expensive whiskies. I would give him my duty free allowance and he would buy me something from the Swarowski shop! 🤣
The added bonus of the duty free status is that DH used to bring me lovely gifts back from there, when he was golfing.
I used to call them guilt gifts, because he would send me photos of himself on a sunny golf course, while I was sitting in the staffroom, with rain running down the windows!

I do not plan to do much today , apart from going to the surgery and then get petrol. I seem to be driving a lot more, since changing to an automatic.
After sheilding for two years, I had totally lost my confidence.

Tonight, I am duty sacristan for the Mass of the Last supper. The P.P. tasked me with finding Apostles for the Washing of the Feet, an almost impossible task. No-one is ever keen and I was subjected to many detailed stories of how bad people's feet were, when they declined! 🤣

I wish you all a pleasant day and Blossom, how exciting for you, I hope your day goes well. 🥰

Gingster Thu 17-Apr-25 08:15:20

Good morning all - bright but chilly .

Safe and troublefree journey Sar. I’m glad S is home now and hopefully feeling much better. 🙏

Happy cruising Bluesapphire and Glammagran. Calm waters !

GG have a great holiday*

A busy day again yesterday with Occupational Therapist - a wonderful lady who has measured up for another bannister and grab rails in the shower. She was full of advice, support and positivity. Dh passed the cognitive tests with gold stars.

Also the alarm arrived , so I can leave him for short periods without too much worry.

Today we have the physio again.
We’re amazed at the help and treatment we’re both getting.
Thankyou NHS! 🙏. Nothing is too much bother. .

We have most of the family arriving tomorrow for Easter egg hunt so I must shop. Dd was going to sit in with dh but she’s not well , so I’ve told her to stay home.
Plenty if people have offered to sit in but he prefers to be on his own. I’ll only be an hour. 🙏

It will just be pizzas, hot dogs and cake so not too much bother.
I made sausage rolls yesterday and will bake a cake today if time allows.

Thankyou for your continued prayers, thoughts and kind wishes. As Soop would say ‘you’re a lovely lot’. ❤️.

Take care all 🌱

Good morning from an overcast NE and the forecast is not great.
Yesterday was a rubbish day, felt ill all day so did nothing.
DD and SIL are coming today and SIL will take me shopping while DD works online in my study. After lunch I have an appointment for my covid booster.
Rang my sister in Germany last night and caught up with her news. Her broken neck still hasn't healed properly and she has an issue with her blood. She does not have any family to help but does remarkably well all things considered.
Have a good day.

Taichinan Thu 17-Apr-25 08:01:19

Good morning Mick and all. Glad your phone is sorted Mick.
I woke with a start this morning thinking I'd slept in - it was brighter at 5.45 than it had been all yesterday - but not a lot warmer! I was glad the 'snow' on the hills was just a band of white clouds, but really it was so cold I wouldn't have been surprised if it had been the real thing.
Glad to hear things are improving for poorlies, and that all holidaymakers are enjoying their time away.
It's Thursday, so my usual tai chi. Today I have asked someone else to take the class to bring a breath of fresh air in, and I shall just be a class member. I'm sure the class will be glad of a change!
So off I go. Have a good day everybody.

EkwaNimitee Thu 17-Apr-25 07:56:48

Good morning Mick and everyone from cool, grey Carlisle.
A very unpleasant day weather-wise yesterday so I was busy inside out of the wind.
I won't be up to much today, I didn't sleep until around 3am, plagued by bad indigestion and nausea, goodness knows what caused that. Nevertheless, my body insisted on waking up at my usual early hour so I got up. I'll totter through the day somehow....
I love the Isle of Man ginny, I could once see it from my former home and really miss the view. When it had snow, it looked like a large meringue floating on the sea. It was very cold and cloudy when we went up the mountain too. I'd taken my binoculars, hoping to see my home town from up there but don't suppose that was possible anyway. We loved Peel so I hope you enjoy the day.

And have a good day everyone!

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 17-Apr-25 07:55:08

Morning all from West Oxfordshire,

I intend to make a Simnel cake this morning. I make one most years. Then after lunch I will pop into our smaller nearby town and listen to a U3A Art History talk on Rembrandt. At some point my replacement as WI secretary is calling round to collect a final box of documents.

Last night’s WI meeting was interesting. The speaker advised us how to avoid being scammed.

Have a good day everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 17-Apr-25 07:54:39

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 4°C with sunshine all day and a high of 15°C. Lovely. We have no plans until teatime when we’ve been asked to babysit. The verandah and my Kindle will be the order of the afternoon for me!

madeleine45 Thu 17-Apr-25 07:53:07

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a clear but decidedly chilly morning in North Yorkshire. Think while it is so cold it wont rain but it is forecasted later.

Looking out from my window, I am a bit worried about the big tree I can see from next door. Whilst there is now quite a lot of green in hedges and blossom coming out, this tree has not a sign of a leaf anywhere, Do hope it is just late and not dying, but it is a bit strange not to even have a sign of a leaf anywhere. No wonder the pigeons have been wandering amongst the branches looking for their usual greenery.

Stayed in all yesterday, as it was bitterly cold, didnt desperately need anything from the market, but still seem so slow at everything. Frustrating - my mind still thinks in what I could plan and do in a day when I was fitter and quicker. The ironing still didnt get done and whilst some jobs were sorted I really felt not much to show for the day.

Was pleased to go to the whist last night , and we were very full with some new extra people joining us, which is great, as of course over summer people are away on holidays etc and the numbers dwindle a bit. Enjoyable evening but again with some very weird hands, and didnt get near any prizes either best or worst as I managed to range from best was 11 tricks and worst was 2!! However did win a raffle prize, and have 4 little puddings single size with a box of long life custard. One of them is a sticky toffee pudding so that will be an easter treat!! As a whole big box of custard is a lot for one person, I can spread a little happiness and when I go to todays meeting I shall donate it to the food box.

Today our womens group are having a little jacobs join lunch together, and I had intended to get going and do some housework before going to the meeting. However physically not so great this morning, to the extent that dont even feel up to using the yellow peril, and hope I can find a parking place close by. So it will be a slow and steady morning, and no more galavanting out to any card games tonight.

One thing I am going to follow up, which I only really found out about recently. I have a senior railcard, and these days have to make sure of assistance to change trains and carry luggage and me if necessary down long platforms. But I now have attendance allowance and of course my blue badge, which I am grateful for and definitely could not manage without. So have been told that , with the attendance allowance, I am entitled to a disabled railcard. The amount off the cost is the same I think but the really useful thing is that the time restrictions do not apply so do not have to wait until 9.30am to travel. As the only plus thing from my back is that I am often awake very early I should now be able to go earlier in the day, which will suit me. Will let you know if this is all correct as maybe some other GN's might find this useful.

Have not made any great plans for Easter, and will no doubt be ruled by both the weather and my ability to move about easily. If the weather is kind I might get to visit a garden somewhere, but as yet nothing arranged. While it is holiday time I tend to avoid all the seaside and tourist places, as I can visit at quieter times, but if the weather stays dry I shall hopefully pack up a picnic and go up to swaledale. Shall be enjoying some lovely music over the holiday with I think it is Bach's St Matthews Passion to listen to. I shall avoid going to Durham today as there will be loads of traffic around. The King and Queen are going to be there for the Maundy service at the cathedral so much decorating and they will be getting ready. The local news advised people to be there at 9.30am to be sure of a good view, so think they will need their winter woollies on this morning, but at least it is dry. I shall no doubt get a better view on the local news on tv.

Mick well done and congratulations on getting your phone sorted out. I recently had to change my phone and although I informed all sorts of people I am still finding one or two people I had forgotten to tell. I have now made a list in the back of my telephone book and adding any extra on as I remember them for any future need.
Jaxjacky very good news and so you can enjoy your easter now without that worry.
Well a little bit more sun suddenly arrived so hope that the sun is also shining on you all today and have a day of success , whether that is getting something sorted or having a much needed rest.

Liberty Thu 17-Apr-25 07:51:12

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where we had winds yesterday but no rain. The forecast for the weekend is good.

I’m off to my stretch class shortly and then a peaceful day at home although I shall have to try and contact,by phone, a bank about a maturing investment. Yesterday I tried to deal with it online but managed to lock myself out by a message saying the information I had entered was wrong. I know it was not but there was no point my telling my iPad that. This has happened once before…so frustrating as it will mean,no doubt,a long time waiting to get through to someone as,although I am whatever number in the queue,my call is important to them!

Hope all have a good day without any irritations like this!

GrannySomerset Thu 17-Apr-25 07:37:30

Lovely morning if chilly but we have escaped the heavy rain which we were promised. Supermarket trip the main focus of the day and a bit of preparation for my visitors at the weekend. I aim for simplicity these days - gone I are the cooking marathonsI used to feel were necessary, but we won’t starve.

GrannyIvy Thu 17-Apr-25 07:35:40

Good morning from a bright sunny Cambridgeshire where is is 5 degrees with a high of 15 expected later.

I will pop to the Farm Shop when it opens at 9 am and then a day of pottering at home after two busy (lovely)days out with DD2 and the GC.

Have a good day everyone. It’s lovely hearing from the cruising girls 🛳️

ginny Thu 17-Apr-25 07:24:16

Good morning.
Sunshine this morning on the Isle of Man and we are looking forward to a trip to Peel and then over to Ramsey.
We enjoyed the tram and the mountain railway yesterday but couldn’t see a thing from the top. Bobby the horse took us home from the station in his carriage.
Thinking of all with troubles, appointments and illness. Wishing all a good day

monk08 Thu 17-Apr-25 07:19:45

Good morning all from a sunny Black country after overnight frost.
DS is bringing the boys for lunch and they can have their Easter presents they go away tomorrow with DiLs family.
We are out with friends this evening.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

brook2704 Thu 17-Apr-25 07:15:50

Good morning everyone from a very wet and soggy Inverness
Safe travels Sar53 and good to hear your DGD is back home now, hope she does ok from now on
I’m looking forward to meeting my pal for lunch today, we’ll stay for a while and catch up on all the news. Later I’ll call into DD2s to sit in with the DGC whilst DD goes to the gym and then bring DGD back here for a sleepover tonight.
Hope all goes to plan and you can enjoy your day out to Lytham today Blossoming
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Greyduster Thu 17-Apr-25 07:11:34

Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire and it feels less chilly than it did yesterday when the wind was freezing. Our librarian led creative writing session went very well, but my hand writing is so poor these days that when it comes to reading back what I’ve written I struggle sometimes.
Walking group this morning and then lunch with DD. I will call in on my niece on the way home for a quick catch up.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Jaxjacky Thu 17-Apr-25 07:10:19

Better news on your granddaughter Sar enjoy Leamington.
Great Blossoming, fingers crossed for your trip out, don't do too much!

GrannyGravy13 Thu 17-Apr-25 07:10:06

Good morning from a bright sunny S E Essex, it’s currently 6°

I have a manicure, pedicure, eyelash and eyebrow tint and tidy first thing ready for Centre Parcs and Spain.

Then I really must get my clothes and final bits and bibs sorted.

Not sure I will have time to post regularly for the next couple of weeks, will pop in when I can.

Happy Easter 🐣🐰🍫
