Grammaretto if you come across a gold wedding ring give me a shout. I lost my original one on Gullane beach many years ago. You never know grin.

Good morning all from a dull Black country more rain was had overnight.
Haven't read through yet as I'm late up and being Saturday usual full English calling.
Not a lot planned for today, the ironing is staring at me but think I will ignore it nothing that is needed in there.
Over to our friends this evening for a few hours.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed ☀️.

Good Morning from Durham. Grey and gloomy again.
After DGS2’s first ever sleepover here, it was a manic morning yesterday, as DD1 and DGS1 arrived to exchange Easter goodies. They stayed a couple of hours and the house remained a tip, until after DD2 decided to take DGS2 home last evening, as they’re off to a soft play session nearer them today. Later, she’s going to meet a friend for dinner and I’ll have DGS2 to entertain and put to bed. Her dog is still here of course for another week. I’m hoping to be mobile from today, if DD1 drops off her car for me. I’ve fully insured it for my use - not cheap!
After 4 loo visits through the night, I’m going to drop my bedtime cuppa - I don’t feel rested at all.

Hope Marydoll is alright and .Gingster’s DH continues to improve - we were told it could take up to 4 years for things to repair (if they could, of course).

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning everybody from sunny and windy Lancashire.

I am feeling better every day now I’m home. I need to start building up my muscles again so am starting some gentle regular exercises. My legs are feeling stronger and I am finding standing up easier. My arms are responding well to stretching but I need some small weights to help with strength.

Enjoy your weekend, hope you have as good a day as possible whatever you’re doing today. Sending love to those going through difficult times. ♥️🌹

Good morning everyone. I'm being an early bird at the moment and my body seems to approve of that as a summer routine.
Karma your wander through the old part of town sounds idyllic - like stepping back in time. I can imagine the 'Hovis boy' on his bike clattering over the cobbles on his way to deliver some freshly baked bread!
I too had a lovely day yesterday, but nothing like that. I met my niece for a quick coffee and chat before getting my hair cut. The hair cut was exactly to my liking - a 'Sheila Hancock' at the moment, which I'm hoping will morph into a 'Camilla' as it grows. (Can't stand Camilla, but I do like her hair 😉). Then I met my niece again afterwards and we both 'did' Next and M&S. We're comparatively close in age, and getting closer as she gets older (and I don't of course 😉) and there's often reminiscences of when she was little and I was late teens. Yesterday she was remembering dancing to Greig's Peer Gynt Suite. Greig would be disappointed to know that when it came to the Hall of the Mountain King she and her little brother were "hanging out the washing and then it rained and we had to rush and get it all back in again"!
A quiet and mundane weekend ahead for me - my socialising was last week when DD and New Man were up in Scotland - but there will no doubt be flurries of WhatsApp conversations.
Have a lovely Easter Weekend everyone.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on another dont know what morning with patches of blue sky and grey clouds, and cant tell which way it is going to go wet or fine. We have had heavy showers forecasted and it looks as though that will be about right.

At last this morning a few leaves showing on the tree so am pleased as I was beginning to worry if it might have died. Managed to get up and sorted with a bit less hassle today. The squirrel has been rushing about in the tree and the birds are again inspecting various branches. I am shortly going out to get a couple of bits from the market and buy the Yorkshire Post , but in particular to see if there is anything special going on today. Am meeting a friend who lives near durham, and is moving shortly, so we are hoping to have a pleasant day together. We shall enjoy each others company whatever the weather but it would be good to have some sunshine.

Yesterday I went to my meeting and tried to sort some paperwork out in the afternoon. Pleased to see cream flowers coming out in a hyacinth I bought to cheer the place up and have a lovely perfume. Some sorting of the kitchen surfaces and cupboards revealed a small dried mint sauce container that had been behind other taller jars etc. Shows how much I check carefully, but it did remind me that I had a lamb steak, that I had bought in the reduced box and so had a very enjoyable - to me very spring meal - lamb with mint sauce of course and new potatoes and peas. Very good and not a lot of standing to cook it. It does seem ironical that we are surrounded by lambs and sheep everywhere we look , and yet at the moment the price is so high I rarely buy any.

Havent got any plans in particular for the next couple of days, and now I am retired I tend to keep out of the crowds on holiday times as I can visit places in quieter times, which I prefer. So if I am up to it, when I get back this afternoon I might at last get a bit of weeding done, but will just wait and see how the day goes.

from the posts it looks as though there are quite a lot of people who will be glad of a quiet day or two. Wishing you all a good day and some peace and quiet to enjoy the moment

Good morning from a dull Suffolk after a lovely sunny day yesterday. Not a drop of rain here and none forecast. I had to water the pots in the back yard as,once again, they were so dry and the roses in some of them were beginning to look a bit droopy.

I need to finish off the simnel cake later. DD2 sent a photo of hers yesterday, made and decorated by 8 year old DGD5. It’s a triumph.

There was no service in the church at the end of our garden but I popped in yesterday and met someone from the village who had brought beautiful flowers for Easter Day. She was leaving them in the vestry until tomorrow as the altar had been stripped and all decorations removed.

Hope all have the best day possible.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It is grey and 10 degrees but my weather app tells me it feels more like 5 degrees! Today I have DD2 and the little ones for an Easter egg hunt and roast dinner. We are doing Easter Sunday a day early as they go back to their father for the next two days. A lot of house bouncing goes on in the Easter hols!

Hoping everyone has a Happy Easter. I’m resisting chocolate this year 🐣

Gingster Sat 19-Apr-25 08:04:54

Good morning all.

It’s dull here in Essex but should brighten later.
Yesterday was beautiful and the GC played in the garden. Easter egg hunt was successful and lunch (hot dogs, hot cross buns and chocolate cake) 😳, largely disappeared quickly. Not a fancy spread but well accepted.

It was a happy, relaxed and noisy afternoon and Dh was quiet but enjoyed the family gathering. Very tired later and had an early night.

The builders next door were working but I think we made more noise than them .

I can’t believe that so many people now work on Good Friday - shops open and ‘just a normal day’. I think it’s a shame, after all we are a Christian country and should have some reverence for Easter. I remember as a child, it was a very special day. ⛪️.

Today Ds1 is taking me to ‘his’ garden nursery. No cafe or gift shop, just good quality plants and shrubs. I need to fill my pots after the daffs and tulips have died down. They look such a mess until I can lift the bulbs.

Take care all 🪴

I enjoyed reading your detailed post just now karma which described so well all that you saw on your walk yesterday. Such interesting details that we all often miss in life as we flit from one place to another. Simple pleasures. Thank you. Mindfulness indeed.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 19-Apr-25 08:03:15

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire. Our huge ceanothus is looking amazingly blue in this sort of light .

I hope MaryD is ok.

Our daughter is turning up sometime today - well she will let us know when she needs to be picked up from the railway station.

The only prep I have left to do this weekend is peeling vegetables, whipping cream and making custard. Oh. And I must sort out my daughter’s room.

Have a good day.

Grammaretto Sat 19-Apr-25 08:01:01

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It feels cold so I've crept back to bed.

I'm foraging on Gullane beach later with a group.
My friend called off dinner yesterday so I went to the cinema to see Penguin Lessons which I enjoyed.

Tomorrow some of my family will come to lunch. They may get foraged food 😂

Have a lovely Easter weekend everyone.

luluaugust Sat 19-Apr-25 07:52:05

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Lovely day yesterday with DD2 and family, DGD2 has A levels coming up, i find the books they read for English fascinating so different to those I had to read.
Today DB is arriving for a couple of days, will be good to see him
Best wishes to all

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 19-Apr-25 07:42:45

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where Alexa tells me it’s 9°C presently with cloudy skies today and 15°C later. It’s damp out but not windy. We’re taking my stepfather to do his big shop at M&S late morning. Other than that no plans which is nice now and again. I think a film again this afternoon will please me. #lazygran

kittylester Sat 19-Apr-25 07:41:00

Good morning all from a wet North Leicestershire.

We had an interesting time at Crazy Golf yesterday. Wolfie was very unhappy when he lost a hole. Persie was brilliant with him - I foresee a career in primary teaching for her. Wolfie is going to send us a card to apologise. grin

Today we plan to recover and regroup.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from Leamington. I haven't opened the blind yet so have no idea what the weather is doing.
Yesterday we stayed in until late afternoon, then went to Zizzi's for dinner. It was so nice being out with 'my girls'.
This morning DD1, DGD4 and I are going to a garden centre. This afternoon we are all going bowling with my cousin who lives locally.
I hope you all have a lovely Saturday, best wishes to all xx

ginny Sat 19-Apr-25 07:33:51

Good morning.
Our last day on the Isle of Man. At the moment it is dull and windy
Yesterday the weather was awful, wind and rain most of the day. We still managed to do some sightseeing and it was interesting in Castletown where we became members of the 1830 Manx parliament for an hour.
Don’t hold out much hope with the weather today so our tri-motorcycle trip this afternoon should be fun !
Wishing all a all a good day.

brook2704 Sat 19-Apr-25 07:26:15

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve grey skies and light rain
Your walk to the old part of town yesterday sounds so lovely and interesting Karma
I’m off to DD2s this morning to help with sorting through and packing things into moving boxes. Her house move is still on target for 9th May but as we’ll be away a lot over the next couple of weeks it’s better done sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed there’s no last minute hitches and all goes to plan
Hope all the holidaymakers are having a good time and safe travels to everyone on the move
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

cornergran Sat 19-Apr-25 07:15:40

Morning Mick, morning All from a chilly, soggy corner of Somerset.

Knowing we needed the rain doesn’t mean I like it! A morning sorting and culling clothes for me. Mr C has promised to give the kitchen a clean, other than that it’s a wait and see day.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Redcar Sat 19-Apr-25 07:11:52

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright but there’s a lot of cloud too, signs of a very light shower overnight.
I was busy yesterday, carrying out lots of little tasks, which was quite satisfying. I’d run out of steam by about 4 o’clock so sat and read until it was time to cook dinner.
Nothing planned for today, I may do a little more gardening depending on the weather, I did some weeding yesterday as the ground was quite soft. I have to change the bedding and there’s a pile of ironing to do too - enough to keep me busy.
greyduster I love delphiniums but haven’t had much success in growing them here probably due to hungry slugs!
Safe journey home sallyforth.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 19-Apr-25 06:59:49

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. It rained most of yesterday too.
Yesterday I went for coffee with dd and the boys and we ended up having a second breakfast. The bacon roll I had was delicious and well cooked. On the way back, the boys came into my house for a loo stop and dgs2 ended up breaking an Easter ornament. It was an accident and he was so upset at doing it. Later Dsil came and removed the highly annoying beeping alarm and threw it in the bin. Neither of us could find out where the battery was housed. He managed to switch it off which was such a relief.
Today I have a Tesco delivery later this morning. I will get the housework done and change my bedding. Then I need to rearrange my dining table to accommodate two extra people. That's all I have planned. I might make a chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all.

karmalady Sat 19-Apr-25 06:59:05

Good morning from s somerset, wet for a few more hours, dark, cool and windy for the rest of the day

I had a lovely day yesterday. Starting with a walk to get some special chocolates, it took me to an old side of town, it was very atmospheric, made my heart sing. Slightly leaning houses with dippy ridges, a mix of big houses and terraced, all beautifully kept. Low windows and glimpses of displayed rocking horse, bowls of large pebbles, rows of books along the window seat. I found some raspberry ,salted liquorice rocks in that shop, bought myself a treat of a small packet

Large clumps of hollyhocks embedded between houses and pavement, they will look beautiful when they flower. I went past a really superb old bakery, could see the bakers covered in flour, then the shop with crusty sourdough loaves of all sizes, with brown split tops and sides. Pastries and cakes on the counter inside. What a smell, so reminiscent of my Dutch baking heritage, still in my genes. The bakers must have been there well before dawn

I made cream scones when I arrived home, first time and too much liquid, it was messy at first, I had to add much more flour. The result was good, lovely tall domed scones that had a cracked top, like volcanoes and very different to Mary Berry scones. Worth making

Lunch, a quick meal, it was a treat, a toasted English muffin with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. I tasted a couple of liquorice rocks later, sublime

Spinning and a lit fire all afternoon, Mrs Harris goes to Paris in the evening

Today, no idea but will try to carry on with the theme from yesterday and will light the cheery fire to keep a nice temperature and ambience

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Sat 19-Apr-25 06:58:30

Good morning everyone from soggy south Glos, very dark, stormy clouds overhead. I’m so glad we’ve had some rain, everything was so dry and dusty in the garden and on our walks.
I’m pretty much ready for DS and the family arriving today, I just need to make up the inflatable mattress in my craft room for me and that’s quick and easy.
I’ll walk the dogs this morning when the rain eases off, probably around the quiet lanes in the village and up the bridleway. I’m hoping DH will come with me, he’s being somewhat contrary at the moment, if he doesn’t then I’ll take them out separately.
I hope you have a lovely day 🌹

Susan56 Sat 19-Apr-25 06:55:47

Good morning from Shropshire.Raining at the moment but hopefully dry this afternoon.

Another quiet day planned before a couple of busy days.We are enjoying these quiet days at home pottering and relaxing.

Hope Gingsters husband is continuing to improve🙏🏻

Have the best day you can everyone🌻🦩

Greyduster Sat 19-Apr-25 06:35:55

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is gloomy but dry at the moment. I’m hoping for a dry day to get some laundry out. Yesterday was a cleaning day, with a short diversion into the garden to put supports around my monster “love lies bleeding”, and to talk to my delphiniums. I’m giving them gentle encouragement to overcome their caterpillar trauma! Today I have some baking to do and other prep for a family meal tomorrow - or Monday; they haven’t told me which yet🙄!!
Have the best day you can folks.
