Happy Easter everybody! It’s going to be a lovely sunny day with a high of 17°C according to Alexa. 🌞

Lunch today is at our younger daughter and son in law’s - a roast lab dinner. I’m so glad I passed that baton over years ago. We will pick my stepfather up. He’s looking forward to seeing them all.

I have an Easter egg which I’m sure I will break into this evening!

Clearly a dog is not just for Christmas but by judicious use of the freezer , can last up to Easter! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
(PS Rosie and I are never speaking to you again )

A happy Easter to you Mick and all GN's and wishing you a lovely time with friends and families.

I am even slower than usual this morning to get going. Partly just the boring painful back , but today knees and hands have also decided to join in, but also partly because I stayed up late to watch the snooker match. My father used to play well and in the old days played Ray Reardon and several other very good players (whose names I cant remember) so have always watched a little when there was any very interesting matches, especially at the crucible. He once won us a week at a holiday camp by the sea. A great prize which my sister and I loved, as previously we had usually just gone to stay with relatives. Think mum and dad enjoyed the rest as we were of course off doing whatever was on offer. So they did ballroom dancing , I remember, and enjoyed the break.

Of course colour tv has made the difference to watching snooker. Last nights was definitely worth watching as this first time player beat the world champion in the end . An exciting game to watch and some brilliant shots of course, and that mixed feelings at the end, sorry for the loser but exciting to see a new talent coming through. Went to bed thinking of my dad and old times .

Good job that I had no concrete plans for today. It is greyish, chilly but dry this morning, so if it stays cold, I think the best I can manage is to go out with my secateurs and do some deadheading of the daffodils, which have been doing very well. The muscari is also doing well and so the borders look quite good right now with pheasant eye and thalia and several clumps of miniature daffs looking as though I have really worked hard in the borders, but its really been just them coming up to cheer the day, Inside my white hyacinth is doing well and giving that lovely perfume too.

I have no plans other than to try and do what I able to manage, and just accept it is one of those days. Not a day to go out anywhere as it will be busy and good cafes and restaurants will be full and booked up. It does add to that feeling of sadness , when y ou look back over many happy Easters with my dear husband. Taking my son and making pace eggs and rolling them down the hills etc. One year flying kites from very high up and my son wondering if his kite was the highest in the world!! Meeting up with family, or friends, and of course most Easters I would be singing in church or cathedral etc. We also used to go on good friday, climbing up the hill and singing by the old church. Ah well I do have the memories to look back on. This week I have various doctors appointments and also the dentist, but I am going to find a space and have my own little easter treat of a trip probably up swaledale or maybe to the coast, when everywhere will be a bit calmer. Anyway it is quiet and peaceful here at the moment so if the weather improves I may at least get to sit outside in the sun and read.

Rosieandhermaw How wonderful to be going to amsterdam. How lovely for you and understandably you are very proud of DD. Hope you have a great time and that everything goes well . It is a lovely opera too.
grandMattie I understand that feeling on your own in a big crowd. It is often easier to just be at home on your own , where you do not have that situation reminding you of what you used to have and now dont. Having gn's to chat to is a great help as we can speak of things that we dont want to upset families with or just have that acknowledgement of our situations with many others in the same boat.
Happy birthday Blue Sapphire and how lovely to be on your cruise and also have a chance to meet some other gn's in person. My goodness, Agatha Christie missed this scenario out. Just think what great plots she could have made of the whole range of us all getting together across the world by messages and then in meetings with of course our gn names, which may or may not be our real ones!
Ashcombe Very well done on your trip round town. You are doing well and any day you are not having such a great one you can look back at this trip and have good hopes for the future.
Marydoll if you should be reading this I wish you a blessed easter and hope that you will soon feel like joining us again.

Wishing all gn's a very happy and blessed easter and thanking them all for the interesting posts and support they give everyone

And lovely photos Bluesapphire! Very nostalgic for me as I was living in Malta 50 years ago. Have a great meet up with Bellasnanna later

Marydoll Sun 20-Apr-25 09:40:47

Good morning all, Happy Easter, wishing you a pleasant day.

Thank you for your kind wishes, which I am reading from bed.
I am not too well at the moment and getting no-where with my GP. 😢

Sadly, no church for me today, just not up to it. Hopefully, I will see BabyD, I have missed her, but she was very unwell and I am too vulnerable to infection.
I have been so worried about her, which hasn't helped my health.
I saw my darling Dollie yesterday and got lots of cuddles 😍and DD is popping in later.

Birthday greetings to Bluesapphire and I hope you and Glamma have an enjoyable meet up with Bella.

Grandmabatty Sun 20-Apr-25 09:45:49

Glad to hear from you Marydoll but I'm sorry that you are so unwell. A gentle hug from me.

Hehe: that made me laugh Maw!

I’ve just read all the posts now - so many joyful ones this morning! I don’t like to single folk out as it can be hurtful if your post isn’t mentioned and a roll call would probably be boring for you all to read anyway.

I do have to wish Blue many happy returns of the day though! What a cracking way to spend it! x

GrannySomerset Sun 20-Apr-25 10:28:25

Off to church shortly with DD, DSiL and DGD1. DSiL has already eaten his chocolate bunny on the grounds that he had had porridge first so it was allowable! The rest of us have been more abstemious and are saving ourselves.

So sorry that Marydoll is so unwell she will miss the Easter Day service. Here’s hoping she improves as the day wears on. I have a sore arm after my COVID jab yesterday and hope I improve too.

What a relief to hear from you Marydoll - you may have noticed you've been missed 😉😁. Sorry you feel so unwell though!
Anyway a very late good morning from the Angus coast where it's grey and cold and altogether uninviting. However there has been a bit of family WhatsApp activity and a facetime with DGD1 to cheer up the day.
A strange thing happened on here this morning. I decided to wish Bluesapphire happy birthday before reading through the thread properly and before posting my own contribution in case I forgot later not that that's likely 😉. I then clicked on 'return to the page before' and carried on reading. I also added a couple more comments. I then discovered I was reading the thread from 13th March!! How on earth that happened I have absolutely no idea. I think I must be past my use by date or something! So now I have no idea whether what I remember reading is happening now or on 13th March!!
And on that note I shall sign off. It's just a quiet day for me today, with lamb steak and trimmings followed by raspberries and cream and a Cadbury's Creme egg. Enjoy your day 🐰🐣🌞🪻🌷

Redcar Sun 20-Apr-25 10:36:09

Your post did make me laugh rosie and her maw! I’ve just popped back to read all your posts and am relieved to see you posting marydoll but so sorry you’re feeling so unwell again. I hope a visit from babydoll will cheer you up!

Taichinan Sun 20-Apr-25 10:36:09

PS. I think my lamb steak may turn out to be tastier than your roast labrador FGT 😉😂

GrandmaC47 Sun 20-Apr-25 10:45:43

So many posts this morning. Happy Easter.
Happy Birthday, BlueSapphire enjoy your Malta meet up.
So glad to see you posting Marydoll, hope you feel better soon.
It’ll take forever to comment individually but have the best day everyone and safe travels to those on the move.

Susan56 Sun 20-Apr-25 10:59:21

Good to see you posting Marydoll but sorry that you are so unwell.Really hoping you start feeling better soon🙏🏻and hope you get those cuddles from Babydoll.

Good morning from Andalucia. Back to the UK later, so a bit rushed and flustered this morning. There's a wind so I'm thinking bumpy flight, but it has to be done and I'm not travelling alone.

Lovely to see you posting Marydoll. Glad you're able to read the respect and good wishes from many posters here. What a miserable situation when you can't get satisfactory support from the GP.

Enjoy your Easter celebrations everyone however you may be spending the day. Special thoughts for anyone unwell or caring for someone who is. flowers

Good morning all, im in Lyme Regis listeng to the seagulls chattering. We're here as one of my Grandsoms was married here yesterday a happy occasion for my family. It was a laid back affair family but very few friends. I'll be driving home later after breakfast with everyone. Hopefully a quicker drive home than the one down. I like my own bed. Enjoy your Sunday.

I absolutely love Lyme!
Nothing much here today, just some (overdue!) gardening. All the family inc. dh but not dd2 are away on a very long haul holiday which I couldn’t face, because of v long flights plus massive jet lag - I never sleep well anyway.

I’m so glad they’re all having a brilliant time anyway - masses of super photos on WhatsApp.

Had a lovely day yesterday with dd2 who stayed on Friday night -we went to Kew, and had a special lunch at their Botanicals restaurant.
She’s off with her v nice DP today for a night away, but it was lovely to see her.

An early Good Afternoon! Didn’t have time to post earlier - full on morning with DGS2 who was up before 6. The Easter Bunny has been, Grandma has played garden football, done 2 loads of laundry and with DGS2’s help, taken Little Dog for a walk. I’m exhausted, DGS2 isn’t!

Pleased MD is up to posting - look after yourself.
FGT At least they’ll be no arguments over who gets a leg!

Best wishes to all. X

aggie Sun 20-Apr-25 12:25:19

Just loving all the humour in here this morning surrounding a certain typo. Traditional roast lab at Easter will stay in my mind for a long time 😂
Meant to say best wishes for your trip to Amsterdam Rosie's Maw and enjoy your pride in your DD's performance.
