Be careful Gingster changing a catheter needs scrupulous hygiene or infection can be introduced. I think you are doing a sterling job. Practical and calm. I admire your fortitude very much.

Good morning from West Sussex. It’s light cloud with the sun breaking through.

We had a lovely day yesterday at Glynde Place in East Sussex, where it was the first day of Potfest. Grammaretto has mentioned this wonderful event at Scone Palace in Perthshire where potters display and sell their work and I looked it up to see what date it would be this year and found there is a similar event not too far from us. DH has dabbled in clay and it was supposed to be a retirement project but apart from a couple of courses, he’s never got going so I hoped this might inspire him.

Good news from FGT. Now you can really enjoy Malaga.

Glad to hear MrGingster is home again and hope the issues with the catheter will resolve - it’s very disappointing to be told help will be available and then it isn’t.

Happy Birthday to LFL 🎂

Good morning from sunny Essex.

Well the District nurse didn’t appear, so I made several phone calls to find out if she was coming. The hospital had told us they would come every day.
When I eventually got through to the main office, they said ‘No they don’t come out just for change of catheter. I asked if someone could come to show us what’s needed. They weren’t very hopeful.

Dd went out to walk the dog and a young nurse was standing at the door. We welcomed her with open arms., She won’t be coming back though.

We’re still not very au fait with it but we’ll muddle through.

Lovely pics Blue and *Glammer

Take care all

Good morning from dull Sunnyside northwest coast.
Better night last night as my cat left me alone. I’m going to try and ignore her and see if she gets the message.

I can feel some rumblings in the abscess that was left in situ last July when the dentist mangled the extraction and left a broken tooth in situ. I’m on a list for a hospital surgical extraction but may have to go with my new private dentist if it flares up. I’m off to the south tomorrow and Greece next month, so it’s a bit of a worry.

Happy birthday LLFL, lovely photos and thoughts to all 🌺

GrandmaC47 Sat 26-Apr-25 09:26:09

A late good morning to everyone from a grey cool Angus coast. I would really love a return to some warmer weather!
Lovely photos from Bluesapphire and glammagran - such an interesting part of the world to see and experience.
Happy Birthday llfl - have a lovely day.
I'm sorry I've only skimmed page 1 of the thread - I will read the rest at lunchtime. I have nothing to say really - should move to the boring thread. Today my lovely gardener should be here - suddenly everything is bursting into leaf and bloom - including the weeds! The clematis which wends its way along the fence outside the garden room is a mass of buds and is going to look spectacular when they open - it's as if they are holding their breath until the temperature rises by another few degrees. So am I.
Till then I shall just plod very slowly on with preparing the house for my eventual demise. I would never have described myself as a hoarder but it would seem that I am!
Lots of you seem to be on holiday just now, so I hope a lovely time is had by all, and of course FGT and Himself will soon be off to their happy place. I also trust gingster and her DH can get back into their new regime and things will slowly and gently improve
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and the sun is trying to shine but Alexa tells me we will have showers later. We’ve no plans, so last night I sent a text to our daughter offering that we’d mind the grandchildren for a couple of hours this afternoon if they fancied a walk/coffee/wine. 😇

A grey morning but definitely warmer so the promised warm spell is definitely on its way. Enjoyed DS’s company yesterday evening but he will be off back to London later this morning. He has satisfied himself that all is well with me and I have not yet lapsed into complete senility and I have liked having him on his own for a change, so all is well. Must collect prescription from the surgery but no other plans, though will watch events in Rome with interest.

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a grey but dry morning in North Yorkshire. They had told us that it was going to be a hot day today but this morning altered that to mixed rain and cooler especially at the coast. Par for the way things are going here.

I had written most of the post and then it disappeared, so starting again!! Am really struggling today and all plans are off , so my hoped for trip to visit my first garden in the NGS is cancelled. Yesterday did not go as planned and all the panic and stress for nothing!

Awake very early and drove to dentist in good time. Receptionist asked if I had driven and I said yes and she said she would have to tell the dentist as they had planned to treat me and use gas and air. Previously I would have a check up and then have treatment usually the following week or fortnight, so wasnt expecting that. The last time I had been was quite some weeks ago, so didnt think that counted as the checkup. So very uptight, but went into see new dentist . She said she would have a look anyway which she did.

I had taken a small cushion for their chair as my back was so bad. The nurse who knew me asked if my back was no better and I replied that having had my cataract done and having to lie flat for it had made things worse. The dentist immediately stopped looking at my teeth and asked when I had had this done. I told her it was only local anaestetic , but she said that she could not use gas and air for 6 months after that, because if there was a little hole left anywhere then the gas could get into it and cause major problems.

It was , of course, a good job I had told them but that meant it had to stop there, and all the effort and anxiety had been for nothing!! I had never heard of this and as my prescriptions had not altered at all , it never occurred that it could be a problem. I had psyched myself up to cope with it and all for nothing. I didnt know whether to punch a cushion, cry or shout some very anglo saxon words. Non of which I did of course, but needed a strong coffee to calm me down. Then yesterday evening couldnt find the remote control and in looking for it knocked a whole load of paperwork that was sorted over. Not my day!! (Still cannot find the control!)

I had decided that today I would get up early and go off to see a garden and was looking forward to it. No chance! Probably due to all the stress yesterday, but am really struggling to even move about, so all plans are off! I am aching all over, not allowed to swim yet, and wish I could go to the garden as planned, but realistically it would be stupid. I would just waste the petrol as there is no way I could walk round a big garden today, and it would be very frustrating.

So plans diminished to getting the Yorkshire Post, hoping that I shall improve a bit later. Think it is going to be one of those days, so will have to be something out of the freezer for dinner, as no doubt in the mood I am in, even if I managed to cook something I would probably burn it!

The dandelions I had planned to dig out are still there looking at me. Oh well, might go to the dizzying heights of meeting a friend for coffee and hope that tomorrow will be better.

Blue Sapphire Your photos look good and glad you are having a great holiday
Ladyleftfieldover A happy birthday to you. Oh to be so young!!
Ashcombe Glad you are having a good time. I did find Fred Olsen a good company, went up to the Artic with them. Hope all goes well with your trip .

Hoping everyone has a good day, and your plans work out. Dont think you will see me in the marathons tomorrow!! Wonder if we could get a special discount for a little cruise with Fred Olsen for GN's? Just imagine a whole ship full of GN's wow!!

Good morning all from a wet Glasgow, where it is 11°C.

To reassure the poster on the Cash in the house thread, I deliberately use the term 'Glasgow' very loosely. Just in case someone on the dark web is trying to gather info about me from this supportive thread.

FYI:
At present, the Glasgow City Region consists of the Glasgow City Council, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde Local Authorities, with a combined population of over *1.7 million*

I won't say anymore, but it is worth reading the comments on that thread, for we on this supportive thread are mentioned.

Happy birthday, LLF, I hope you have a lovely day! 🥂🎂🎊🎉

How lovely to read of the adventures of the cruisers and enjoy the views, if only virtually.

I plan to have a very gentle day, life is challenging at the moment. Scotch broth soup on the go, to try and get some nourishment. I'm still losing weight!

I am trying to pluck up courage to ask DH to go up in to the loft to retrieve my summer clothes, of which I have too many but I haven't plucked up enough yet! 😉

Planning to pop in and out of Pope Francis' funeral, I may even spot some Bishops and seminarians I know! 😉

Vigil Mass tonight, where I will hopefully see our wee Dollie, (obviously not her real name 😉), she is always full of chat about the stresses of being a nine year old! 😁

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday and best wishes for all, who are struggling.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk. After a quiet day yesterday, the late evening was somewhat different. My dear friend who cannot drive at the moment was expecting her 2 grandchildren both in their early 20s, for the weekend.

She would normally pick them up from the station about 5 miles from hers. I had offered to go and do so but she said that E was organising it. Both E and J work in London and were at university in large cities.

About 10pm I got a call to say that they had not yet arrived and had tried to book a taxi but only 1 possibly available after 12.30am. I had met both before, delightful youngsters so,of course,I said I would go and pick them up and take them to hers.

I had said earlier to my friend that, although they have travelled by train on several occasions before, they would have expected a fleet of taxis waiting at the station or being able to phone for an Uber. How right I was as they admitted.

The courtesy cards on the station notice board were years out of date and the man they spoke to in the pub where they were trying to summon up a taxi told them that most of the taxi firms advertising there had been one person and a car and had retired years ago.

But being young and positive they were full of laughter and good humour on the 20 mins journey to their beloved granny’s house.

I usually avoid driving in the dark but I realised last night that it is something I should do regularly because it is necessary sometimes.

Hope all have a good day and those on holiday continue with their wonderful sounding experiences.

Good morning all. It’s an overcast, drizzly morning in Glasgow.
Good for the garden as I keep telling myself.

After a lengthy phone call with BT and following instructions how to resolve the issue with email problems, success. It didn’t last long as I attempted to send off an email to a friend in reply to her mail, a message came up, unable to send. Back to the drawing board.
The reason for the problem is, I was hacked. I ignored the first two messages but panicked when a third message warned me I would lose all my data and to click on the resolve section! Stupid mistake which angered and upset me being so gullible.

An at home day which suits me as I had 4hrs sleep and not feeling too motivated today. Picking up my book and relaxing is on the cards so far after I have dealt with the email problem.

Good news you DH is back and home and recovering Gingster look after yourself too.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day and a less worrisome day for those who need one.

Georgesgran Sat 26-Apr-25 08:01:47

Good Morning from a grey, still Durham. Roll on this promised better weather!
Car repaired yesterday, £326, so could’ve been a lot worse. The receptionist cleaned it for me too - it was filthy inside and out.
I seem to have ‘done something’ to my left foot - so painful and I’m limping around. I kept DH’s collection of dressed sticks, so I might practice using one.
Later, now mobile, I’m taking Little Dog back to DD2, then I can rest my foot properly at home for the rest of the weekend.
I hope the Gingster have medical things in hand. Marydoll too.
🎂🥂LLFL

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Sister and BIL visited yesterday and brought a big pile of magazines, very kind of them, not something I buy myself.
Quiet day today, no visitors.DS and family will be travelling home from Oxford after a very busy week, they sent some lovely photos.
Happy cruising Ashcombe, it is lovely cruising up the Elbe, my sister lives in Hamburg.
Wishing everyone a good day.
