Just what I would have liked to say LauraNorderr. This thread is the first thing I look at in the mornings. I love hearing about your ‘doings’.
Penblwydd Hapus Mick, I hope you have had a good day.

TillyTrotter Fri 02-May-25 21:01:16

Very well said LauraN 🙌

LauraNorderr Fri 02-May-25 12:00:47

🎂🎈very happy birthday Mick.
Wishing you a truly lovely day as you deserve in recognition of your commitment to opening your wonderful thread every morning.
You give us all somewhere to go as we wake to another day. You give us the space to celebrate and rejoice at our good moments and to share and to vent at our lowest moments.
You enable us to garner support when needed most and to be supportive to others when we see their need.
Long may you reign over your very worthy good morning thread.
Many many happy returns Mick x

Good Morning everyone and a very happy Birthday to Mick. 🌞🍺

It’s pouring down here in the Algarve, not spring like weather at all. We’ve had a mild but very wet, spring and weed/ wildflowers are still growing everywhere. All long and shaggy until it dries out enough to be cut.

There was a power cut here earlier, fortunately by then it was murky daylight but after Monday it was worrying, the Electricity Company said it wasn’t general, apparently only us then hmm I hope it doesn’t mean there is a fault on our line.

Happy birthday mick have a good day! Having my day off and declutterring my winter wardrobe summer one arriving from the spare room😂how do I hold onto so much stuff? Will plough on gave a good day all. Love reading your posts.

Athrawes Fri 02-May-25 11:38:37

Happy Birthday Mick. I hope you have a good time

Litterpicker Fri 02-May-25 10:50:41

Good morning Mick and all. It’s warm and sunny here in West Sussex but quite breezy.

Happy Birthday, Mick. My DH is just a couple of months older than you. I can’t help saying ‘Sunset Strip’ after 77 🙂

Gingster, it’s good to hear your DH is more comfortable now that the catheter is out. I hope he will continue to make good progress in recovering from the stroke.

Karmalady your garden sounds delightful. I, too, have been battling weeds at the allotment - bindweed and couch grass. We had had this half-size plot for 6 years now, I think. I have come to admire the bindweed in its persistence and toughness.

Hollysteers, I hope you can finally get the treatment you need for your abscess - I remember how painful an abscess is from having one years ago.

BlueSapphire, it’s a shame you have missed some of your outings but it sounds as though you are on the mend. Self-service ice-cream sounds amazing 😊

Marydoll, I hope your GP appointment produces some positive result. I will picture you later with your DD, having cocktails in Glasgow. Happy birthday to her.

I’d better go and do something useful. I persuaded DH that we need another path in the garden so he has been on his knees laying the blocks and is quite fed up!

My surgery receptionist just rang. I’m to have a repeat blood test upon return from my holiday. Happy with that. Now to walk more, perhaps swim every day in the pool and eat more salads! 😁

Ziplok Fri 02-May-25 10:32:29

Morning all.
Another fine day here, just a bit cooler than yesterday.
Happy birthday Mick 🎉🎂. Enjoy your day.

TillyTrotter Fri 02-May-25 10:21:29

Happy Birthday Mick, May your day be a special one knowing you have all our Best Wishes on GN GM thread 🍺 Cheers!

Blossoming Fri 02-May-25 10:17:42

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire. We are promised sunshine this afternoon.

Happy birthday Mick, have a nice trip to Bicester.

Your garden sounds beautiful Karmalady, it certainly sounds like it keeps you busy.

I’m glad you managed to speak to a human being Marydoll, hope your upcoming face to face appointments are productive.

Glad your DH is feeling better Gingster, I had a catheter for several weeks during my recent hospitalisation and was so happy when it was removed!

I’m loving reading all about your holidays, days out and walks. I hope to be doing some walking myself soon. I have finally accepted that my disability is affecting me more as I get older and I have ordered a tri walker. Look out world, I will have wheels 😂

Grammaretto Fri 02-May-25 10:15:43

Good morning all from Edinburgh where it's hot but a cool breeze. of course there is

Happy birthday Mick. I'm not so far behind. 1948 was an excellent year.

Yesterday's walk was good along the coast and back across the beach. Not too hot.

I'm on my way to a funeral by bus and the 2nd one is delayed. It's my DH cousin.

I hope the new medication works well Marydoll . You keep so busy you are an absolute wonder!

My Chinese helper arrived yesterday and we watched race across the world together with her explaining life in China to me. I've left her to sweep my paths and a long wish list of chores!

Have a great day everyone.

Marydoll Fri 02-May-25 09:53:39

I have now got an urgent dermatology referral after a thorough examination. My GP was falling over himself to help!

It's freezing her, raining and I have no brolly. Why did I listen to DH!! 🤣
On the train to Glasgow, a bit of an adventure for me. Not my usual train line.
Thanks for the good wishes.x

Good morning all and a very happy birthday to you Mick and thank you for starting the thread every morning. I wish you good health.

Looks sunny and bright here too and I hope it lasts. Wednesday was lovely and I enjoyed a glass of rosé in my neighbour’s garden when I returned from my childminding duties, but yesterday was distinctly cool.

It’s so good to read about the excellent care and attention your DH is receiving Gingster, that therapy support is not happening here, my poor friend who had a serious stroke last year is really struggling at home and really not managing.
I hope you get back to your seaside abode soon.

Loved your photos Ash, thanks

I think I’m going to try posting first and then reading, I am sleeping later recently which is good obviously but leads to a bit of a rush in the morning.

Very best wishes to everyone and good luck to MD and others facing long awaited medical appointments.

madeleine45 Fri 02-May-25 09:20:50

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a sunny day in North Yorkshire. Wishing you a very happy birthday Mick and that you have a good day and meet many friends.

Only just getting going. Not well yesterday and very wiped out this morning, a push to even get started. So have to go out for a bit of shopping and the local paper, but not making any plans.

Hope the day goes well for you all

aggie Fri 02-May-25 09:01:09

Good Morning from a beautiful Co Armagh,
Happy Birthday Michael have a lovely day
My granddaughters are in the throes of exams too , one very academic , one very artistic
Art classs this morning, at the last session the teacher gave my painting a very wry look , I hope she can put me on the right path today
The cooler weather yesterday suited me more than the heat , so I’m pulling the curtains before I leave to keep the house at a lower temperature
Best wishes for all medical appointments and good luck with face to face discussions

Dwmxwg Fri 02-May-25 08:57:37

Popping in to wish Mick a very happy birthday and thank you for the continuation of this lovely thread.
We have driven up from Surrey via Liverpool, Lake District and yesterday Culzean Castle. Overnight stop at Arrochar having managed the torturous route through Glasgow! I did wave to the Glesca grannies 😊. Today we are driving on to Ullapool and the ferry tomorrow to the Isle of Lewis where we are staying for the week. Wishing all a good day

GrannySomerset Fri 02-May-25 08:51:18

Happy birthday, Mick, and congratulations on getting a GP appointment, Marydoll, hope it proves useful. Yesterday’s unplanned day turned out to be quite social so the lack of anything planned was a good thing. Oldies’ coffee morning today’s highlight and must think about clearing the kitchen at some point as the decorator starts work on Monday despite it being a bank holiday. Never ending excitement here!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 02-May-25 08:49:54

Many happy returns of the day to you Mick!
Pleased to hear Gingster that your husband is catheter-free! One thing less to worry about.
Also happy birthday wishes to LLFL’s 9 year old granddaughter and Marydoll’s daughter in law who is 40 today.
Our neighbour (where we go to their 6 o’clock club for drinks) shares his birthday with you all too today - he’s 86.
So that’s x4 😁

hollysteers Fri 02-May-25 08:46:40

Good morning from Sandhills northwest coast. Birthday greetings Mick, hope you have a nice day.
My journey home from the south went well yesterday until local train cancellations caused hold ups and packed trains.

My tooth abscess has really flared up and I’m booked in later this morning. I had a difficult night, popping pills and poor sleep. This means I will miss the art group this morning.
Thoughts to all🌺

WhiteSwan63 Fri 02-May-25 08:37:36

Good morning everybody from a sunny east coast.
I’d like to wish Mick a very happy birthday. 💐
Hoping everyone enjoys the bank holiday and any VE Day celebrations and the sun shines for you all. 🌞

Woollywoman Fri 02-May-25 08:36:51

Another lurker wanting to wish Mick a very happy birthday… hope you enjoy the day🎂🍻

lixy Fri 02-May-25 08:19:35

Hope everyone else has a good day too.

Beechnut Fri 02-May-25 08:18:40

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Mick 🎉🎂🍺

Georgesgran Fri 02-May-25 08:18:02

Good Mirning from a bright, sunny Durham. Another here wishing you a very happy birthday Mick.
My sleep pattern is haywire, but a little better last night, just as well, as DD2 and I have nail appointments this morning, then I’m hoping to nip into Newcastle or MetroCentre on my way home for a wander - plantar fasciitis permitting. I have done very little all week, other than drinking coffee!
🤞 Marydoll gets some much needed help today.

Best wishes to all. X
