Good morning Mick and all from a perishing Angus coast - a maximum 9° forecast. The winter woolies are out again!
Happy Anniversary to Mr and Mrs Pantglas - enjoy your day of happy memories.
Sorry your mouth has flared up again Marydoll. Was your dentist not able to give you any help or advice - I know your GP has been less than helpful.
Liberty 🤣. Had they not heard - no steam without coal?!
Why do we all have such affection for steam trains. My gardener was telling me yesterday that he'll not be here next week as he's going for afternoon tea on the Hogwarts Express! DD took me on it ten years ago as a birthday treat and I loved every minute of it.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry, dull day forecast.

I feel exhausted after a busy week so am hoping for a few quiet days.

Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Pantglas🥂

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny. A body could get used to this. Pantglas a very happy anniversary to you both. GrandMattie 💐
Yesterday was busy with humdrum things but nonetheless enjoyable. Bed stripped, cheers etc washed and hung out to dry. Aldi visited and spent more than I should have. Housework completed. An unexpected treat was the boys visiting with their mum. She dropped them off and went to Aldi, returning with lemon yumyums. Later I went to their house and babysat while dd and Dsil went out for dinner with his parents. It was a joy. Both boys were just lovely. Dgs1 got a bit teary when mum and dad left and then when I took him to bed but he was easily deflected by football chat. Dgs2 was highly delighted that I was taking him to bed. I read them both stories. Dgs1 is really keen on Fabulous Mr Fox and gets three chapters a night. What made me extra happy, was he was asking what some words meant. I like curiousity in a child. Dd messaged me this morning to say dgs2 had shouted for me when he woke up and promptly burst into tears when she said I had gone home to bed. It's lovely to be missed by this rumbustious, funny, wee scamp.
Today I'm meeting a friend for brunch in town. The roads are horrendous with various works, so I'll leave early and pick her up some flowers. I had given her a birthday present but it didn't dawn on me it was a special birthday and I should have acknowledged it better. She's a good friend. Apart from that, I'll potter about the garden, weeding and watering. Gammon salad for dinner later. Have a good day all.

Good morning all. Sun is up here in N.Bucks.
We enjoyed our visit to Chatham Dockyard yesterday. I was a little concerned about going into the submarine but was very pleased that I managed to get myself through the hatches.
Today DH is going to help DD 2 with some DIY ani am off to my scrapbooking group. A few hours of a little scrappin’ and a lot of fun and laughter .
Wishing everyone a good day whatever your plans.

Happy anniversary Pants.
Star Wars Day today and would have been my Philip’s 43rd birthday. His smile would light up the room and his hug, second to none.

I remember it being your precious boy’s birthday grandMattie, gone too soon but hope you have more smiles than sadness as you reflect on those hugs 🤗

Good morning from a cooler feeling and cloudy Redditch. We had a lovely steam train journey along the river Severn from Kidderminster yesterday although the engine back was a diesel one.

Ire rmbered when DH and I were in Darjeeling several years ago and had an early start to get a steam train to a local monastery we were unable to leave on time as they had forgotten to put coal in the engine!

Today we are off for the day to the open air Black Country museum which, for me,is the highlight of our trip. We have found everyone we meet very helpful and friendly so a bonus for us.

Hope all have a good day especially those with family celebrations or with caring responsibilities.

Morning everyone from a bright but cooler S E Essex.

Happy Anniversary Mr & Mrs Pantglass 🥂

A gentle morning is planned, DD and The Imp are coming for a roast later this evening.

DS4 is in Rome with his wife and children (5 & 7) the scenery in the photos are of course stunning, with happy faced GC 💓

Enjoy your day 🙋‍♀️

Marydoll Sun 04-May-25 07:24:00

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, but it is only 2°C. A big difference from sunny Malta, Bella!!!

Happy anniversary, Mr &Mrs Pants I hope you have a lovely day.
Buying cheeses at a market is a must for me, Pants!! I can't make out what they are.

It is DD"s birthday today, I spent most of my pregnancy in hospital and then she spent ages in baby care. She continues to cause me angst, as she lurches from one disaster to the other, but I wouldn't change her for the world. 😍

DH is off down the coast golfing with DS1. I had planned an empty , but we are very short of help at Mass today, in fact we have no-one, so I need to go and try and avert chaos.
Hopefully, church will be reasonably quiet, there is a major match on, and I know many, including the young, football mad curate, will be going to it.
This means we we will have the P.P and will be lucky to get home by dinner time. His sermons are interminably long. and go on for ever.💤

The plan is to spend the afternoon gardening, my rose bushes arrived, so require planting. Roses are my favourite flower, but I have never had much success with them. Fingers crossed this time.
We are still reorganising the garden, so I shall have to do some work, without DH interfering before we rearrange the pots.

Usually we have a traditional Sunday dinner, but my mouth has flared up badly again and I have no sense of taste and no inclination nor desire to cook. I would happily settle for a yoghurt. Poor DH! 😁

The greenhouse needs new panes ordered, so that is also on the 'to do list.

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Morning Mick, morning All from a bright corner of Somerset.

Our bus wander yesterday proved how unhelpful the changes to our local route are for us and the majority of passengers. Now we’ll mostly use the car to get to the sea front, not good for us or the environment.

A bit of garden pottering today. We pace it, an hour at a time with at least 30 minutes between each foray. A necessity for me snd as Mr C is no gardener he’s happy to join in.

Wishing Mr and Mrs Pantglas the best of anniversaries 🥂🎂

Enjoy what you can of the day everyone.

Jaxjacky Sun 04-May-25 07:17:37

Morning from a cooler but still bright S Hants, my back is joining in, it’s an old ligament problem, a few days of specific exercises usually sorts it.
A very Happy Anniversary to you both Pantglas 🥂🎂 enjoy your night away.
That sounds very healing Kalu 🌹
BBQ at my daughter’s yesterday was great, she cooked, my son cleared up, it was very warm in her sun trap garden.
Today there is a VE Day street party outside our door, we’ll wander over later this afternoon bearing goodies.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny but cooler this morning. Yesterday was very pleasant, the temperature was just right for me although it cooled down a lot late afternoon. DD2 came over early with a boot full of outgrown garden toys to put in my skip. I put more in it during the day, both DDs and their families will be here later to clear as much of the garage as they can.
Happy Anniversary to the pantglas’s 🥂

Good to read multicoloured posting again.

Have the best day possible everyone.

JPB123 Sun 04-May-25 07:12:56

Good morning from a sunny but cooler Torbay.

Congratulations to the Pantglas’s! 🥂💕🍾

Backache sufferers here, too, if we have to stand for long or exert ourselves! DH has a (prescribed) back brace because of his osteoporosis so he wore that when pushing my hired wheelchair last week. I can recommend Mobility at Sea to anyone needing support on a cruise.

We giggled about your “magic glass” *Greyduster”.

I hope to make it to church this morning then we’ll see how the day feels.

A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from s somerset, sun and cloud today, nice bearable temperature

I spent 4 hours working very hard on the plot yesterday, I wanted to clear a long strip for my bee friendly plants. I was mainly kneeling down so my back is fine but I haven`t any oomph today and my hands are really aching. I now have two big trugs of bindweed in the shed. I heard also that 70% of the local bees have been decimated. I am glad to be doing my bit to help them recover.

After lunch I went to put something away in the garage and ended up clearing and sorting. It started by me separating my 3 bikes as I was going to use the `furthest-away` bike today. They are now separated, which will make it easier for me and I have a big bag of things for recycling

Mentally I still want to go cycling but physically am not sure, I had a bad night and need to recover, especially my hands

At least I will drive to get the bindweed buckets and get them to the tip, plus the other things I have loaded already.

Later today I will enjoy a sunday treat of toasted English muffin with smoked salmon and scrambled egg, while watching conclave

Have a good day and I hope all the aching backs get better very soon

Greyduster Sun 04-May-25 06:51:44

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is up and I have a socking hangover, having been given one of those magic glasses that never empties no matter how much you drink😳!! We had a very jolly get together in our neighbour’s garden. It was very cold though, once the sun went down.
DD and the menfolk are coming later for a roast dinner so I will have to get my act together.
Happy Anniversary, Pantglas🥂💐!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Kalu Sun 04-May-25 06:50:34

Good morning all. A mostly cloudy day in Perthshire but dry for my journey home.

DD1 and I had a very pleasant, relaxing mother/daughter time together. Many poignant memories of the times DH and I spent at this hotel but they were happy reminders of the life we shared. Lots to do at the hotel. DD1 is a gym bunny and spent some time at the gym whilst I, a book worm, savoured some peaceful time, no admin or demanding to do lists and getting lost in a good book. The hotel grounds consist of 850 acres to ramble through for daily excercise for both of us.
DD left for home on the Friday as planned and I met up with a friend from Dunblane for lunch. From there I drove to the outskirts of Crieff for a two night stay with family who live there. Lots of blethering and catching up to do. This break was just what I needed, learning to get used to venturing out on my own, it was a first, positive step.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday and much needed respite for those struggling on through illness and worries.

A very happy anniversary, Mr&MrsPantglass 💐🍷🍾🥂

RosieandherMaw Sun 04-May-25 06:41:37

Good morning from N Bucks where it is decidedly cooler. (Still sunny though - for now)
I dealt with the accumulated ironing yesterday while watching back to back Slow Horses which made it so much easier!

With a very busy 2 1/2 weeks ahead, I plan to have a peaceful day with my TBR pile as well as finishing my Film Studs choice for Wednesday, a Norwegian film about getting their gold reserves away from the Nazis when Germany invaded.
Happy Star Wars Day!

baubles Sun 04-May-25 06:30:39

Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

There’s a bit of a theme running through the posts, as a fellow sufferer of back pain I do sympathise.

Happy Anniversary Pantglass, enjoy your day.

I went to the vigil Mass yesterday evening as we’re off out early to watch GDD1 play netball this morning, it is her passion, I do enjoy seeing her play and sharing the ups and (not so much) the downs.

Have the best possible everyone.

monk08 Sun 04-May-25 06:17:57

Happy Anniversary Pantglas 🥂🍾. Enjoy your day.

Pantglas2 Sun 04-May-25 06:09:01

Good morning Mick and all from a light and dry north Wales where the birds are particularly loud 😤

Here are some tasty cheeses we sampled at the artisan market yesterday Miss Marydoll. You’d have enjoyed them with your refreshing cocktails 🍹

We will have a quiet morning enjoying kedgeree for brunch along with battling through the crosswords with our usual one upwomanship…🤬

We’ll also open cards as it’s our Ruby Wedding 🤭 and we’ll spend the night at a local country house 🥂

I feel very blessed that my darling (and infuriating) fella is still with me after all his health woes 💝

Have a good day everyone x

Good morning from the Black country not sure about the weather today haven't looked yet.
Early start DH has a fishing contest, once again he has decided not to fish but needs to be there and he enjoys his day out.
I might take a trip to TKMAXX could do with a new cross body bag.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings later, enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.
