Good morning from a chilly overcast S E Essex it’s currently 7° and due to reach the dizzy heights of 14°

We have absolutely nothing planned for today, so unless we have an urge to go somewhere or do something it will be a sofa and kindle day, bliss (no guilt at all)

Wishing the FGT’s a safe journey to their happy place.

(It’s taken three trips back there for me to finally be able to remember the area as my happy place, so many happy memories of my darling mum, our friends etc. I was able to show my friend where we used to live and the theatre where my mother, step-father and sister were active members and performed frequently. The ghosts were laid to rest, and I look forward to returning soon and frequently)

Kite flying:

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday was busy with son and his family. Granddaughter instigated a drawing competition, self portraits this time. Then we drove to White Horse Hill for a bit of kite flying. It was very windy and the kite was lost for a while in a hedge! It was too cold and windy back home for the planned barbecue so son and I moved everything to the kitchen and finished all the cooking off there.

Our cleaner is coming today even though it’s a Bank Holiday. I have a Waitrose shop and OH has some climbers to cut down from the front of the house. Our decorators are coming tomorrow or Wednesday to paint the front of the house. OH did it years ago and it needs redoing.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is a chilly 6 degrees and the heating has kicked in.

Yesterday was a lovely meet up and roast dinner with DD2 and little ones. I enjoy cooking for them all and relaxing together. DH power washed the patio area in the morning and I had all the usual comments about not doing as many pots this year they are far too messy whereas I think they look pretty!
I think I will catch up with washing and ironing today and watch TV. DH has offered to go to DD2’s house to look at her leaking dishwasher I suspect he will advise a new one is required! He will get lots of help from the 6 year old who loves it when the tool box comes out😂

Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country, where we arrived home yesterday after a fantastic sunny week in Lyme Regis in the caravan.

After a standstill on the M5 driving back to storage, we left Burnham and were back home within 90 mins, as no hold ups.

My eldest DGD (20) ran the Birmingham Half Marathon yesterday and completed it in just over 2 hours. Not bad for a first time. She also raised money for a local Hospice.

Had a worrying few hours in the evening, as ringing Mum on and off from 5pm, with no reply. Finally spoke at 9.30pm, she had been upstairs watching TV as the one downstairs wasn't working! So didn't hear the phone or her mobile.

No real plans today, but there is a mountain of washing!

Good morning from a fine but distinctly cooler Torbay: six degrees, feels like zero, according to my phone app!

Yesterday, I enjoyed the early church service but rested for much of the day as my stomach has reacted to (I think) tinned pineapple. Ironic that this has happened at home when I ate well of all that was offered on the cruise without issue! I could say, “Worse things happen at sea!” except, in this case, they didn't!!

In the evening we went to a new event at our theatre: the launch of the first half of the season's plays. Each of the five directors gave a short talk about their plans for their production. A varied season awaits, starting in August with The Good Life.

karma, the Arvo Part music was on as my DH died. Such a beautiful piece of music,and we had it for his funeral.
I also love Philip Glass and Einaudi for the same minimalist repetitiveness of the tune.

Good morning from s somerset, weather will be back to normal today, cloudy, pops of sun and cooler.

I have seen talk of a drought this year, not surprised but glad I now have a drought tolerant garden at home. I have seen the jackdaws drinking from my water feature, daily and I am having to top up regularly. I do like those birds, such clever creatures

GM I am shocked at the lack of basic good manners, only 6 replies, everyone should have replied even if they could not come to your tea party. You have taken the trouble, replying is the least they could have done

I actually spent 4 hours working hard on my plot yesterday, did not go with that intention but the bindweed roots enticed me, I found a lot more under the plastic. So now 2/3 is clear and old roots dug out. I will do the rest today, taking the plastic off has made the plants I put in look even nicer. I will be keeping my beady eyes on that big patch, zapping every bindweed that pops up, starving it

Madeleine I am so sorry you have not been on top form for a few days. I have been listening to a cd you spoke about a while ago, Arvo Part spiegel im spiegel. I had it on last night when I was relaxing in my wellness room. It is simply lovely. I hope you are recovering back to your normal self

Just now I am cooking brown rice in my rice cooker, I will quickly cool and add dahl. Two meals for two days, I will freeze one

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. We have had some welcome rain overnight, but it’s cold this morning. The heating has kicked in. DD et al came for a roast dinner yesterday. Nice to see everyone in good spirits. GS helped me to move some large pots of spent bulbs around to their “resting” area and then went up into the loft to search out some boxes of K’Nex building stuff that I’m donating to the school. He was always heavily into Lego, but K’Nex didn’t spark him at all.
Not sure what today will bring. There’s a print making exhibition and a plant sale in the walled garden at one of our parks and I may go and have a look at that.

Good morning everyone from south Glos.; it’s a cool dawn here, only 3° and the sky’s a very pale blue.
I took the two dogs out together yesterday evening, for the second time (I’ve been walking them individually if DH doesn’t come)and it went really well! I can’t rely on DH always coming as he isn’t a ‘morning person’ at all.
I will do the same for both walks today and I have booked the dog walking field for Wednesday morning so both can go off lead - tiddler has very little (and it’s optional apparently!) recall.
I will do some watercolours today, I’ve got my kit ready in the summerhouse so I can shut myself away down there and not be disturbed.

Good morning all. Currently 2deg rising to 14deg and sunshine in Glasgow today but the forecast for the week will see temperatures rising and lots of sunny days.

I had a pleasant drive home through the beautiful scenery of Perthshire yesterday. Light traffic and I was home in an hour.
Washing on and I will hang it out to dry in the sun. A couple on phone calls to make, basic housework then the day is mine to spend pottering in the garden.

Good morning from a bright Bristol.
My neighbour and I are hosting a sort of ad hoc tea for VE Day; several of our residents remember it very clearly. Not me, I was just post-war, boomer. As there is a very chilly wind and much lower temperatures, we have decided to move the venue from our little lawn, to the “communal” hallway where the coffee mornings have been held.
I spent the afternoon baking for today - fruit cake, chocolate biscuits and flapjacks. What’s left will be used for the FAB cafe on Wednesday.
So this morning is being spent organising and arranging the hallway for this afternoon. I have no idea how many are coming; only 6 out of 30 households have replied.
May the FGTs have a good journey, ditto for all travellers. Glad to see Blossoming moving well with her transport; Ash having enjoyed her cruise, and everyone else having reasonable news, of course, MD is always in my heart with her many problems.

Good morning from Malta where it’s cloudy at present but a dry day with a high of 31°C is forecast. I’ve had to dig out some summer clothes!

Finished painting my front terrace and it looks clean and fresh. Just need to buy some plants to brighten it up, although the poor things come to me to die as I don’t have green fingers, sadly.

I’m just off to watch the boys as usual. I might go to the garden centre after they’ve gone to nursery this afternoon.
