Good morning all and the heating has come on as it’s so chilly here in Essex. Yesterday we had an icy wind and I wore my winters coat when I walked the dog.

The occupational therapist was very pleased with DH’s progress. He’s doing so well and walking without the frame . He’s confident (more than I am 😬) and made us a cuppa and sliced the cake for afternoon tea.
We’re having another bannister fitted today with grab rails in the shower. Another walking frame with 4 wheels, a seat and brakes for walking outdoors, will be delivered sometime. At this rate he won’t need it. 🙏.

If the bannister men come this morning, I hope to go to Bridge this afternoon, while Dd sits in with her dad. 🤞.

I hope your back eases =Karma take it easy today.

Take care and keep warm 🧣🧤

Good morning from a grey and chilly midlands.
Knit and natter group today.
Enjoy your trip marydoll and hope your mouth gets better soon. DH suffers with a painful mouth.
Have the best day you all can.

Morning all, chilly with sun in S Hants.
Lovely picture Pantglas 🙂
My back is easing with movement and specific exercises, I hope others have too.
Quiz last night was surprisingly jam packed, the youngsters ruled, particularly with the music round.
Today I’ll get the last couple of plants in the garden, yesterday was cold, then we had drizzle.
My son had to have their cat pts yesterday, only young, poison the vet said, sad.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where the sun is shining again.
I may take my visiting family to the Highlands today. First a chiropractor appt. He helps to keep me mobile.

Getting old is not for the faint hearted!

I've enjoyed reading about the cruises, holidays and DGC. Sad to read of aches, pains and worries.

Have a lovely day everyone. The photo is of a local pond in a community woodland. We heard lapwings and curlews and saw deer and lots of butterflies and damselflies.

Enjoy FGT wish I was still there

Sorry to read you are still suffering with your mouth MaryDoll

Good morning from a 7° chilly corner of S E Essex according to my phone it will reach the giddy heights of 15°

I am going to a new (for me) class at the gym today, my back is rather stiff and I need to move after a lazy weekend.

School pick up and swimming lesson for The Imp (the 10yr old has stopped lessons now, he can swim well and wasn’t enjoying them) he will get his homework done.

Wishing you all a good day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where the sun streaming through the blinds woke me up half an hour ago, lovely gentle stirring. We slept like logs! I didn’t wake once in 8 hours. Of course we are an hour ahead here it’ll make it look I’m awake earlier when I post 😁

I can smell the pine trees in the mountains behind us at the front door and coming back inside and looking out from the little balcony is the Mediterranean. Perfect view.

And what a day to arrive - it’s LWW this afternoon. Yay! I’ve brought Saga magazines to pass on and bought boxes of Thornton’s fudge for my friends. I shall wear my new Tom Ford sunglasses and I think white linen trousers with my new Birks and choose a top from my (culled last time out) wardrobe.

Oh, it is SO wonderful to be back. 😁⛱️🌴🌞

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 06-May-25 07:19:30

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Our gardener is coming this morning for a couple of hours. Probably just a general tidy up but we need to talk about the ceanothus which is getting enormous.

OH has a U3A meeting this afternoon and I am popping round to friends.

There is a pile of ironing with my name on which I’ll tackle today.

I was glad to hear the FGSs had arrived safely and hope they have a good break.

Have a good day.

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 1°C.

I have slept very badly, due to the pain in my mouth. It is constant. What on earth is causing it? I stopped my biologic weeks ago, so there must be another reason.

Pleased to hear your tea was a success GM and you had a great time, Pants.

Yesterday, I managed only an hour in the garden, because I didn't feel too good. Gone are the days, when I would spend all day gardening, I can hardly lift a flowerpot these days and rely on DH.
Unfortunately, he twisted his back helping me to strip the bed yesterday (another task I struggle with) and was unable to help.
My mini orchard is nearly finished and I will post photos soon.
Instead I borrowed one of Dollie's ice lollies, and sat in the sun, enjoying the relief it gave my mouth.

Today, we are off for a run to Loch Lomond and then on to Helensburgh for a tapas lunch. Small plates suit me well at the moment, I often feel nauseous and can't taste anything.

Good luck with the hospital visits and hoping FGT is settled in her happy place.
Take it easy, Karma.

Best wishes to Sallyforth, whom I noticed was missing from the thread. I don't think she is too well at the moment.

Have a good day folks.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. A grey start to the day and the heating has come on. I went to the May Fair being held in the local park in the morning but it was cloudy, windy and cold. I bought a few things at one of the craft stalls, had a chat to a few people I know, then came home to get warm. I should have gone in the afternoon, it was sunnier and a little warmer.
I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning then seeing my friend with dementia later.
grandmattie I’m pleased your afternoon tea went well, I hope the new resident becomes more friendly soon.
ash enjoy your trip along the coast.
I hope that fgt is safely in her happy place and that the sun is shining in Malaga!

I hope all the medical appointments go well today, with satisfactory results for everyone. karma I hope your back settles down quickly.

Have the best day possible folks.

Kalu Tue 06-May-25 07:12:34

Good morning all. A chilly 4deg at the moment reaching 17deg later with wall to wall sunshine. A perfect start to the day.

Nothing pressing to attend to, the day is my own. A flick with a duster and some vacuuming to ease my conscience at planning to spend the rest of the day outdoors to make the most of this weather while it lasts. Bliss.

I empathise with doing something you so enjoy resulting in debilitating pain Karma. I have to pace myself now when there is so much I want to do in the garden, something I find so frustrating.
I like the photo of your DH reliving his youth Pantglas 😄 Pleased to hear you had such a good day.

Best wishes for a good day is ahead for all today.

Greyduster Tue 06-May-25 07:09:13

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Bright but cold in South Yorkshire. I had a lovely afternoon yesterday in a walled garden where it felt a darn sight warmer inside the walls than out! Lots of lovely contemplative spots to relax in.
I’m off to the gym very shortly, hen back home to tackle the ironing, and this afternoon a volunteer session at school.
Pant I think there’s a bit of the manchild in all of them - there certainly was in mine😊!
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton where it feels chilly, well, it certainly. did yesterday when I arrived home - I put the heating on.
Disembarkation went smoothly, and it was also a smooth and swift journey home - left Portsmouth at 10.30am and was indoors shortly after 1pm.

Was sad to leave our beautiful ship, but I already have another cruise booked on her next year! It was a wonderful holiday, good company, excellent food and wine and a good itinerary; plenty of sunshine and fresh air and the ability to do as little or as much as I wanted. I read four books, listened to wonderful music, enjoyed varied entertainment - but most of all I just enjoyed being at sea, the sea days are the best!

Back to normal life now......
I did very little when I got home yesterday - cases are still waiting to be unpacked, and there will be a mountain of washing waiting.
I opened a pile of post, thankfully no bills, but a few more birthday cards that arrived after I had left.

I need to ring the surgery this morning as I am sure I have an appointment for a blood pressure check this week, but can't remember when - I am going to cancel it anyway as I am still troubled by my cough and cold and don't feel up to venturing out.

The cats arrive home at lunchtime today from their stay at the cattery - I need to get them booked in for their next stay (probably Christmas) and also my next cruise, as it is a very good and popular cattery.

Wishing all a pleasant day - special greetings to glammagran and her DH - it was good to meet you both and hope you had a smooth journey back to Wiltshire.

Ashcombe Tue 06-May-25 06:54:31

Good morning from a bright but chilly Torbay.

My Move It Or Lose It Class was on yesterday so I went along and did quite well with most of the exercises. There was a surprisingly good turnout (about 20!) considering it was a Bank Holiday.

I’m glad your VE Day gathering went well, new resident excepted and hope today's appointment does, too, grandMattie.

Be gentle with yourself, karmalady. I’m in awe of your energy levels and achievements.

Caerhun Hall looks like a grand place at which to celebrate, Pantglas2 and good to see your DH making the most of the facilities!

We hope to take a trip on the steam train to Dartmouth today. It’s such a beautiful scenic ride along the coast.

Have a good day and well wishes to those who are ill.

Good morning from Malta where a cloudy day is forecast with a high of 30°C.

The boys ran me ragged yesterday, while I was busy folding an industrial sized pile of their clean clothes, they managed to take out all their puzzles and strew the pieces around the room. It took a lot of sorting out.

They were generally in impish mode and neither took a nap so I was not fit for much else by the afternoon and gave the garden centre a miss.

I’m with them today and will try to get them out to the park as the don’t have nursery today.

Littlest has a new date for his surgery which is a week today so we don’t want him catching anything before then in case it gets postponed yet again.

Glad your tea party went well gM though a pity the new neighbour was a curmudgeon about it.

I received some photos from the 50 year school reunion at my old Alma mater in Chester which was spread over the weekend. I was shocked as I barely recognised anyone, Father Time has not been kind to us over the past 25 years when I actually attended the reunion and knew everyone!

I’m glad I didn’t go, just seeing the photos gave me anxiety, not that I could have gone anyway.

Must stop rambling. Have a good day all.☀️

Good morning all from the Black country frost overnight glad the gas engineer left some heaters.
Hopefully heating and hot water will be sorted today and we dont need a new boiler.
No plans shall find a book to read whilst the work is being done, he is scheduled to be here for 8.30.
Hope all medical appointments go well and those with back problems are finding it a little easier.
Have the best day you can everyone, Fgt enjoy LWW.
May you all find some ☀️.

cornergran Tue 06-May-25 06:34:14

Oops, forgot, hope all, goes well for your husband pantglas.

cornergran Tue 06-May-25 06:32:08

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is bright and should be less cold than yesterday which felt back to winter.

Routine here today. Grocery delivery, dust removal and some ironing. With luck a walk along the river later, see how Mr C feels, he sees no need to chase an overdue cardiology review, I’d feel a whole heap better if he would.

Hope you’re not too long at the eye hospital grandmattie and the outcome is positive. Definitely a gentle day karma, let your body recover.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Tue 06-May-25 06:29:40

karma I hope your back settles

Grandmabatty Tue 06-May-25 06:28:50

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and sunny. GrandMattie a successful tea for you. It would have been courteous for them to say they were attending though. Pantglas nice photo of your other half.
Yesterday I did some weeding and watering then ironed. In the afternoon I went to dds for a coffee. Dgs1 was playing with the boys next door and his friend while dgs2 was corralled in the living room as a man was trying to fix the front door. It was very noisy and busy and I realised how much I like my peace. 😂 Later dgs2 made 'porridge' in his mud kitchen in the garden 🤢.
On the way home, I realised my very wobbly and sore tooth had fallen out. It had been exceptionally sore earlier and I'm glad it's out.
Today is a childcare day. I'll pick up the boys, feed them breakfast then drop them off at school/nursery. I need to look at the mountain of paperwork for mum and get it sorted. That's my priority. And possibly a visit to the library too for new books. Have a good day all.

karmalady Tue 06-May-25 06:08:04

Good morning from s somerset, dry cloudy and pops of sun today, cool but pleasant

I wrecked my back yesterday, did another long stint on the plot, keen to get the hard work finished after which it will transform to maintenance. I cycled home at lunchtime and all was well for a few hours. Then my top hip/lower back suddenly revealed the lurking soreness.

I worked my healing magic all afternoon and evening, took panadol at bedtime and slept well. I still feel it now that I am sitting. I will obviously keep away from the plot for a day or two. I should have listened to myself ie a day of work and alternate days off. Frustrating but it was bound to happen

Anyway mission was accomplished and I am almost at maintenance only on the plot. It will have been worth the pain.

More of the healing stuff today, not too much sitting, more walking, stretching etc

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Tue 06-May-25 06:03:41

Good morning from south Glos where it’s 2° and there’s frost on the car roof.
Yesterday was chilly all day; I spent the morning cleaning the upstairs windows inside and giving the bathroom, loo and bedrooms a good dusting and tidy. I’ve never done spring cleaning as such but I do try to keep on top of everything generally. Cupboards etc get tidies as I go along.
I enjoyed taking the two dogs out together first thing, it went really well, so that’s a plus. It means I don’t need to wait for DH every time they need a walk, he’s not a morning person unlike me!
Have a lovely day, I hope the sun shines for you 🌹

grandMattie Tue 06-May-25 05:53:25

Good morning from an overcast Bristol. It is very chilly indeed, apparently 3C., with still an icy wind. Where has the warmth gone?
Yesterday’s tea went very well with 18 residents attending. We were packed like the proverbial sardines in the tiny hallway, used for meetings etc. it is totally unsuitable but the biggest area available.
I was so glad that we had decided to move from outside to indoors as it was overcast and really cold.
We had plenty of food, enough cups and not quite enough chairs. My neighbour and I sat on the floor, which gave us the ability to chat to different people, and to take food and drink around.
There was one hiccup. We put a table of food across the doorway of an empty flat only to find out that it had been occupied a week earlier. The owner seemed rather cross about our error and certainly didn’t join the festivities despite a belated, warm invitation to do so. We were all rather annoyed as we are normally told when empty flats get sold.
It was interesting to hear the VE Day stories of quite a few residents. Our 100 year old, of course, was the most interesting.
Us two organisers closed shop after a good 90 minutes of chat and tidied up, taking the remaining food, etc., home. I think people enjoyed themselves as they stayed for so long.
Today, I’ve got a (probably very long) appointment at the eye hospital, checking up on the uveitis and£ getting the blood test results.
Unfortunately, I’ve also got a meeting with the local old age charities organising a fete in July. I’m doing the catering, so shall join in if I’ve finished at hospital on time. Another long day.
May your week be good to you. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning everyone from the north 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 coast where another gorgeous day beckons 🌞

Thank you all so much for your best wishes on our anniversary x we had the most marvellous time at Caerhun Hall - here’s the manchild misbehaving on our morning stroll through the grounds to the old Roman ruins of Conovium!

Good to see our cruisers and fliers back in Blighty after their stunning journeys, loved the photos and hopefully more to come with the FGTs back in their happy place 🤗

Back to reality now with an appointment for Mr PG with dermatologist to check on his ear 🤞that all is well, then a spot of lunch and a trot to the cinema to see The Accountant before returning to the nest😊

Have a lovely day x
