Close to Richmond. I thought it was a dog at first - a dog-like head - but then it went under and we saw the back surface vey briefly. The head appeared again very briefly quite a bit further down.
Apparently sightings are not uncommon. It was going the wrong way to get back to the sea, though. 🙁

How lovely, although how they manage to survive in the sewagey water I don’t know.

There is a marine life organisation that asks people to notify them of a sighting.

That's exciting. It must mean there's good fish in there now which means cleaner water.

Frequently see them in my part of the world on the South Coast. It's great they are in the Thames too.

We saw a couple of seals- also swimming upstream in the Thames near Greenwich last year. Lifted our day!

Not seals - but a pod of Orcas just off the Northumberland coast. Videos on Tik-toc.

Sadly we very recently had a dead orca carcass wash up on our local

I also saw one from the train going over Kew Bridge. I thought it was a person and couldn’t understand why they were swimming in the Thames on a cold day. Then realised it was a seal. Quite cheering really!

Lovely. My Dad used to go down near Richmond to fish when I was little. Good that the water is clean again.
