Good morning, it’s clouding over here in south Glos after a bright start.
I slept very badly and feel like a piece of chewed string this morning 🙄
Yesterday I walked the dogs individually, then late afternoon we took them on a longer walk - my favourite one from the next village.
I gave the utility room a good clean and tidy, it certainly needed it! We have far too many bottles of wine, mostly given as presents, but I have no idea what to do with it beyond pouring it down the sink. We rarely drink, and if we do I often end up pouring it away.
I have given my apologies for art group this morning, tiddler and I will have a walk then I intend to do little except usual housework things, change the bed etc.
Take care everyone 🌹

Good morning - I’ve been awake for a while. I’ve now had 4 good nights of sleep since we got back home from our cruise after 3 weeks of listening to constant snoring. hmm After such a rich diet of food over 3 weeks it’s been all vegetarian so far this week and lost some weight already.

We got a lot done in the garden yesterday but more work still needed. I’m quite achy today as a result.

Tomorrow we will catch up with our local family. I’ve really missed the grandkids as we haven’t seen them for 4 weeks.

Belated birthday greetings to Corner🎂. I’m very sorry to hear your DH is feeling unwell FGT. Very best wishes to you both. 💐

Have a good day everyone.

Brook good luck with the house move! Fingers crossed it all goes well.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and sunny still with blue skies. FGT 💐. Ashcombe it's good to hear that you continue to feel better.
Yesterday was busier than expected. I contacted the man about my tyre needing replaced. He asked for the tyre number. Well, I went out to the car for a look. There were lots of numbers and all different! I gave up, phoned him back and asked if I brought the car up, could he find the correct number. Duly done and he discovered I needed three tyres replaced, not one. It didn't surprise me as a) the car is nearly seven years old and has it's original tyres and b) I'm a shocking driver, regularly hitting kerbs- never other cars or people. He ordered the new tyres and said he would let me know later when they arrived.
After that, I did some admin for mum's estate then tidied up until it was time to go to the school library. A quick tidy there and some more labels on books that had been returned and off I went to the garage. Tyres are replaced at a very reasonable price.
Today I might go back to the garden centre with dd. She wants one more plant for her front garden. Otherwise, I have a very quiet day ahead. Have a good day all

Thinking of you and 'himself' FGT XX

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the sun is shining again.

I’m making the most of the glorious weather and sat outside yesterday afternoon crocheting and listening to an audiobook. I reckon I’d earned it having spent more than an hour ironing in the morning. The downside of summer is that more of our clothes require a dash of the smoothing iron than the winter wardrobe.

The trout was delicious Pantglass!

I’ve sold a couple of things on Vinted so will pop out to drop them off at the shop as well as dropping another bag at the charity shop.

Thinking of you and your DH FGT.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Thinking of you both fgt. x

Gingster Fri 09-May-25 07:28:01

Good morning all and it’s a bit overcast at the moment.

FGT what a shame your lovely man is feeling poorly!
Especially In Your happy place. I hope the Christie nurses get back to you and advise what to do. 🙏.

I must do some dusting today as when I sat in the conservatory with Dd and DGD the sun showed how dusty everywhere is.
I’m trying to keep things ticking over but with visitors, therapists, phone calls etc, the day gets away from me. I was so tired yesterday! 😔.

Physio coming again at midday to put him through his paces.

Enjoy your holiday Whiff , you have a lot of preparation for it. Hope all goes well for you.🙏

Sar good luck to S and her exams . She deserves to do well, bless her.

The sun has just appeared so I’ll get the washed bed linen out on the line.

Take care all 🪴

Good morning everyone it’s a lovely sunny day up here in Inverness
Good to hear you’re feeling much better Ash so pleased for you
Today is the long awaited moving day for DD2 so we’re off to help out soon. It’ll be so good to see her settled somewhere new and the start of a new chapter for the family
Pleased to hear S is home from hospital Sar, hope things settle down for her, poor girl
FGT hoping it’s just a temporary setback but definitely right to get it checked, sending ❤️
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Kalu Fri 09-May-25 07:22:54

Hollyhocks are such a beautiful plant GM, so easy to grow and so prolific due to self seeding hence the enjoyment I got seeing so many had lined the quiet streets of Île De Re, growing through tarmac.

FGT 💐. Worrying times for you both.

Redcar Fri 09-May-25 07:21:28

fgt fingers crossed that the Christie nurses get back to you quickly with some reassurance. Praying all will be well for your DH.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. The overnight cloud is clearing and a fine day is promised, hopefully without the chilly north easterly wind.
I went for my usual walk in the morning and sat on a bench in the park, chatting to some dog walking friends, for about half an hour. Afterwards I did some ironing and watched the VE commemoration on tv. I sorted out a few more things to go in the skip and DD2 has told me to put the high chair on the skip as the littlest no longer uses it. I’ll suggest we assemble it and put it by the skip in case anyone wants it. It’s hardly been used and it seems a shame to just throw it away.

sar I’m pleased that S is home and I hope that the steroids keep her well enough to do her exams next week.

karma I hope your DD’s horse has survived the night.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, only 6°C at the moment, but a warm sunny day forecast. I may do more washing.....

Another day at home yesterday, nursing this cough and cold, which sometimes I think may be improving. Not going to dance today as I still don't feel well enough, so will have another day in.

Spent yesterday afternoon watching the VE Day Service on tv; very nicely done and so moving. Then watched the concert in the evening, but not overly impressed; had no idea why some of the performers were there!

Another lazy day cooking wise, a home-made biryani to retrieve.from the freezer; yesterday I had the last portion of Bolognese, so must make another batch next week. Luckily I have some mince in the freezer and all the other ingredients to hand in the kitchen

Wishing all a good day..

RosieandherMaw Fri 09-May-25 07:08:14

Good morning from sunny N Bucks, still cool though.
I’ve been awake since sparrow fart as I have a new (smallish) chest freezer for the garage being delivered. My delivery window was unspecified and could have been as early as 7 but I’ve had the text now for a time between 10.30 and 14.30 so it’s back to bed with my cuppa. Despite a 6’ upright freezer and matching fridge both in the utility room I find I never have enough freezer space so I hope this “overspill” one might be useful for the bulkier things- veg, rolls and bread, oven chips, pizzas for when the GC come and maybe Rosie’s dog food.
We shall see….I have been mocked before now for my “nuclear winter” survival planning but it paid off in lockdown when nobody could get a delivery slot. I also have visitors from Canada next week so need to do some advance shopping and cooking . With no village shop anymore it’s not exactly cost effective to have to drive 3 miles if I run out of anything.
I enjoyed yesterday evenings VE Day concert (well most of it) and find I am growing ever fonder of our King, he really comes across as genuinely kind and sensitive to the feelings of others.
I hope those of you with worries or in pain find some relief and wish you all a pleasant day.
.

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire

Not a lot going on here today - that doesn't happen often. DGS3 finishes school today apart from going back for exams. He says he it feels very odd.

Have the best day possible everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 09-May-25 07:00:02

Good morning from cloudy Málaga. Himself is struggling swallowing and had a bad night. I left a message on the Christie nurses ansaphone as the clinic always say “let us know if anything changes”. We are therefore waiting to hear back today and arrange flights home. I’m worried of course this has all come on so suddenly and fiercely.

I’m taking a break for a few days from GN. I will post this message on soops. Himself just said ‘maybe I’m panicking? Maybe it’s a virus?’ He thinks like gastritis. But I said we ought to let the experts decide.
Sensible I think?

cornergran Fri 09-May-25 06:55:43

Morning Mick, morning All, it’s bright and sunny out there if chilly

Thank you for the kind birthday wishes, I had the best day, loved every second. We’ll be home later where there will be cards to open - and laundry to do grin. We’ve both enjoyed the peace of our temporary home, chosen to minimise travelling tiredness, and wish we’d booked to stay longer.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I was in bed early after all the sunshine yesterday and slept well for a change.
After yoga, I drove to a garden centre and bought paint and a growbag for salad stuff. I looked at summer clothes but decided Scottish summers aren't long enough for such indulgence grin

My Helper painted 2 garden chairs and planted out all the beans and peas. Meanwhile I cooked us a nice meal and booked a home report for the house as it's soon to be sold. I hope

Belated birthday greetings to Cornergran. It was my niece's birthday too. Such a lovely time of year. smile

Hoping everyone has a good day.

Whiff Fri 09-May-25 06:47:43

Bright and sunny here in north west. Yesterday packed my clothes ready for my holiday to Llandudno on Monday until Friday. My aunt and uncle live in Llanddulas and picking me up and taking me to my hotel. I stay a primier inns as they have accessible rooms for walking disabled like me and wheelchair disabled. Rooms are brilliant. Spoke to my aunt yesterday and did remind her I am 67 now but then again they are 83&86 . Been years since I last saw them and that was at a funeral may have been mom's . Today packing my bag with medicinal supplies , toiletries and shoes. My book, cross stitch and phone charger will be packed on Sunday night.

First today a battle to get an appointment to talk to a doctor as the UTI I had hasn't gone even though the lab results says it's negative. If I had been the correct dosage and for 7 days on Friday at the walk in it would have gone . Wouldn't mind but have everything written on card to show people . Trouble is it effects my neurological condition and I can't get the words out my balance and walking gets worse.

Thought the VE celebrations where well done hope they do the same for VJ day. My dad's war didn't finish till then . As many in the forces where still fighting and prisoners of war waiting to be released .

Sar53 Fri 09-May-25 06:47:14

Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is due to shine today.
S came home from hospital at lunchtime yesterday. She has been given 3 days worth of strong steroids to take. Fingers crossed they work as next week she has four days of the most important GCSE'S, maths, English and Science.
Today it is DH'S eldest GC's 14th birthday, we will see her later.
Admin and washing for me this morning and reading a bit more of my book this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone xx

Greyduster Fri 09-May-25 06:40:17

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. There is a light frost this morning but the sun is shining brightly so it won’t last long. Our walk yesterday was chilly and overcast but pleasant. The glorious bluebells are going over now. I had a light lunch with DD and GS who was at home revising. I called on my niece on the way home but she was sitting with a sick friend while the friends husband did some shopping. She’s a good and very caring lady. So I stopped off at the garden centre to look for a pack of snap dragons and ended up spending far more than I had intended - isn’t it always the case with garden centres🙄?
I have a visit to the dentist later this morning, and then, if it doesn’t overrun, I’ll get to school in time for my volunteer session.
Have the best day you can, folks.

grandMattie Fri 09-May-25 06:36:23

Your hollyhocks, kalu, remind me of the A2 from Canterbury to Ashford. There is a long stretch which has self seeded hollyhocks in the central reservation. They are all colours and really brighten the boring drive.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 09-May-25 06:32:29

Good morning not sure what the weather is doing, I am being quite so as not to wake the 10yr old.

Once he is at school I can get sorted for the gym, afterwards will have a coffee and catch up with a few gym pals.

Then it will be home for a shower and pottering until school pick up.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️

Kalu Fri 09-May-25 06:28:52

Good morning all. Another beautiful sunrise this morning but still a chilly start in Glasgow.

I have realised how much busier life is at this time of year compared to dark, indoors, winter days. Now with so much to to indoors and outdoors I have a much busier schedule, not enough hours in the day to fit in all I want to do. By 9.00pm I am ready to head upstairs, change into PJs and relax in bed reading or trawling through YouTube.
Time to pot a variety of coloured hollyhocks in two large pots in full sun. They are such a pretty addition to the garden. Those along with peonies are two of my favourites.

Happy belated birthday cornergran. Hope you enjoyed your special day.

Have a good day all and hopefully a better day for all with struggles and worries.
