My son rang me and after a while he said G/S aged 4 wanted to speak to me. He told me he'd eaten his last Easter egg and then went on to say what I thought was his older brother had had the flu. What he'd really said was older G/S had won a trophy at Kung Fu !!
I'm getting old grin

Maybe he was still munching on the last of his Easter egg and was talking with his mouth full of chocolate?

No he wasn't eating. He does get excited and talks fast at these times . Still it gave me a giggle afterwards.

Lighthearted thread.
Made me laugh at myself.

Pardon Nanato3 but I can't hear you. ๐Ÿ˜

Just wait til you really are deaf Nanato3. I am a source of endless hilarity wherever I go with my misinterpretations! In fact I'm going to start keeping a note of them, because I never remember them. It's good to know I put a smile on folks' faces though ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜

Please have your heating tested. I was losing mine, and I thought it was old age, but it turned out to be a benign brain tumour, which is above my left ear.

Oh Charleygirl5 sorry to hear about this. I hope you get all the help you need. Both professional & from your family. ๐Ÿ˜”

Once my sister asked if I wanted a gin and tonic and I replied "What did you just say about Dylan Thomas?"

Thanks, Ilovedogs. Apparently, surgery is rarely done on anybody over 65. I have no family, but my friends have been supportive.

I would love to get rid of the deafness, but I am saddled, I fear, and the aids I have are useless. At least I am 81 and not 41, although there is life in this old dog yet.

Charley girl. My DH is now completely deaf and I've found a free app called live transcribe which immediately puts what you say on the screen of your phone.

We do, too, but both of us have hearing aids. I am quite deaf. You say neither of you are ready for hearing aids yet, but have you had your hearing tested recently? If not, it would be a good idea to do so. If you need hearing aids, you will be amazed at what you can now hear again.

As we get a little deaf, we tend to compensate by lip reading, so we notice only on the phone.
Get a hearing test - I did but only barely needed. The audiologist gave me some for noisy situations and recommended recheck. She said that as your hearing goes down, you lose the mental ability to hear.

I knew my hearing wasn't what it used to be - but one day when I was listening to the consumer show on our local radio station a man called in to say he had bought three Headstones and one of them was faulty. That's a bit strange, I thought. Only later did I pick up that he had bought three Headphones!! Soon after that I had a hearing test and discovered that I have moderate hearing loss. I now have hearing aids which are amazing.
